Amazing authentic khmer food. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Very casual and cozy spot with a few tables to dine in. Love the rice rolls. The special with the salted egg is the best. The soups and stir fries are super tasty and the papaya salad is the best in town. Be back soon

Tasty authentic Cambodian food. Staff here were really nice and great service. We will definitely come back again.

Sour soup I wish I can give you the name. I'm just not sure what's the name but I swear it's a must try! Delicious

I recall the sour dish here and I was satisfied when I got this here. I would come here for this one dish that is different from what I have tasted and it's Cambodian. I'm pleased with the service too it's pretty fast and hospitable. The place is clean and easy to find a spot to eat.

Cha Kwai and Phnom Pen Noodles. ^_^

Needed some comforting soup. We past by this spot a lot so finally took the time to check it out. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking and if you really need to, street parking. Seating: Inside seating is usually for about 4 groups. Feels: It's in your grit and grind local area of LBC, moreover Cambodia town. The space itself is pretty nice. Clean, homages and decor to Cambodia culture, and two tv screens! Seems like this is a spot for locals. I can picture chilling out and enjoying a football game. FOOD: Phnom Penh Noodle (Recommend) This was pleasant. I wanted something soupy with natural flavors and this was it. Hearty and flavorful broth, chewy noodles, and a pleasant medley of different meats. Comforting for colds or upset stomaches in my opinion. Cha Kwai (Recommend) For something simple, this helps get you started. It's basically a savory plain fried donut. We received it cold but still had crunch, I should ask if they can warm it up. Beef Stew (Recommend) Deeelicious. So flavorful, very umami-ish with every bite/slurp. Broth wasn't too thick but still fulfilling. For something with a bit more flavor with every bite, this is your order. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Solid. Friendly and professional. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. I appreciate this spot. Comforting food, reasonable prices, and a relaxing vibe. There's a lot of soup spots but this is a good one. Till next time, Apsara Cafe. TIPS: * They do desserts too!

Authentic! I came for their rice porridge. Doing a to go. Will follow up with pictures. Porridge is my to go when craving something easy to eat and digest. I chose fish and chicken. They also have pork. This place might just become my favorite. I'm home now and both the chicken and the fish tastes awesome. The fish is blended with ginger and it's not fishy at all :) Definitely will go back for more!

    Nom Banh Chok

When in the area, I love to try nom banh chok at different places. Small little cafe, definitely a hole in the wall so would just togo your food. Staff and cashier was super nice, too. The flavor and portion were good, I think for 2 orders it was $26-28. Wish they gave a little more noodles or veggies but again everyone makes this dish slightly different. I would be back to eat it again but I haven't had one that was OUT OF THIS WORLD yet.

Milk Fruits or also call star apple

Houy Hok Apsaracafe, I have sent the owner several messages regarding the order of star Apple fruits that my friend placed on my behalf, but I have not received any response. I have received the order; however, half of the fruits are moldy and not fresh. I paid $68 for a box of 16 fruits, in addition to $25 for shipping, expecting to receive fresh produce. I was eager to support a Khmer business, but experiences like this tarnish the reputation of other Khmer businesses. It seems customer satisfaction and product quality are not your priorities once payment is received. Unfortunately, due to this experience, I will not be a returning customer and would advise others to reconsider placing orders with you. I am sharing this experience to prevent others from facing a similar disappointment.

Fishy soup with noodles, banana flowers, and greens

Hole-in-the-wall informal cafeteria with a selection of Cambodian plates. If you're looking for a casual introduction to typical Cambodian foods this would be a low-barrier entry place. Many of the items were out when we asked. We got iced coffee (with condensed milk) and two entrees. (1) a fish based soup with galangal and turmeric, served with noodles, cucumber, greens, fresh mint and fried banana flower shards to be mixed in, and (2) the egg-flour pancake stuffed with minced chicken, bean sprouts and served with lettuce and mild fish sauce/garnished with peanuts. Both were tasty and priced fairly economically. The eating experience could be made a bit more refined with slightly more neat presentation and table ware, but this is a casual place. I appreciate how authentic the tastes were and how friendly the culture is. The fresh green chillies, refreshing mint, all made for a good meal. Still I'm docking it because I felt there could be even more effort put into presentation and into the temperature of the entrees. Try them out for casual dining, they are a fun crew.

Small, cozy, & cool cafe. Greeted upon entry and was well taken care of. Came here for the first time with family and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Authentic Khmer dishes and full of flavor. The food was also aesthetically pleasing for pics. Everyone was so sweet and kind. You can tell it's a family run business. They made sure to make us feel like family too.

Still worth the drive to Long Beach to get our fill of very good Cambodian food that I've yet to find up north. Parking was still a challenge and I dropped the family in front of the restaurant first so they can join the waitlist. This time I could only find a spot a few blocks away but by the time I walked back to the restaurant, the family got seated. The menu still had the same great options and prices but starting June 1st prices will be increasing. Definitely understandable in this inflationary environment. My favorite every time has been the loat cha with chicken such that the family knows never to ask what am I getting. We've tried the rest of the menu but the family has standardized on their noodle soups or rice porridge bowls. You can count on lots of ingredients, choices of noodles and rich tasting broths. The cha quai (bread stick) must also be ordered as the perfect pairing for dipping. We also ordered the nom sa-kieu (like a fried meat empananda) again and will continue. We ended our meal with a round of iced coffees for the table, strong and delicious. Not bitter at all. Hopefully we'll be back sooner than later.

She had a long, exhausting day, and the interaction came across as very pushy and lacking patience. I understand restaurants get busy, but customers should still be treated with respect and kindness. I also noticed another situation where a customer walked in asking about splitting tables while standing nearby, and the response felt rushed and dismissive. My dad has refused to eat here before because he felt the service was rude, and after experiencing it myself, I can understand why. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the experience either -- the soup was bland and not memorable enough for us to want to return. I'm sharing this because I hope customer service can improve and better reflect respect for the community.

The flavors are authentic and invoke nostalgia in the older generations and reconnection to their roots for the young. For those not well versed in cambodian cuisine, what this restaurant is making is not easy and the quality they are able to provide is impressive. Outside of the well known dishes with kreung - lemongrass paste, there are other dishes you won't find anywhere except in the the old world. Things like like the nhom svay- papaya salad with dried fish, or the Machu Srae - farmers fish soup, are complex with a unique mixtures of ingredients like banana blossoms and lotus, that deliver the familiar southeast asian sweet, sour, and salty umami flavor but with a signature that is uniquely Cambodian. You won't find this place recommended on infatuation or tagged with a Michelin bib gourmand simply because nobody understands Cambodian cuisine. But the community does and Cambodians from across the US and even back in the old world knows of this place. It's a must visit. Restaurants come and go. They get sold off remodeled and change for better or worse. We stumbled upon this restaurant on Yelp then headed here based on the pictures. There was plenty of parking when we arrived and we were seated immediately because there wasn't really anyone inside on a weekday afternoon. We couldn't decide between what to get because everything looked so good and we were hungry, so we ended up getting the beef sticks, beef larb and angel chicken wings. The beef sticks were probably one of the most flavorful beef sticks I have tried in my life. You're instantly hit with so many different flavors while it's hot. This is something we would get again. The beef larb was a little too tangy and sour for my boyfriend's taste, but he still enjoyed it. He also said the beef in the larb was a little chewy for him, but it wasn't a big issue for him. I enjoy eating sour foods, but it did have us sweating inside haha. I loved the combination of veggies mixed in with the larb and the cabbage definitely helped cut out some of the sourness. The angel chicken wings! Probably one of my favorites because of all the lemongrass and turmeric added inside. The chicken was crispy on the outside yet so juicy on the inside. I also like that they cut up the wings into pieces for you. I'm glad we can across this restaurant on Yelp and got to try it.
