Had a great experience here, I was really craving Americana food and this hit the spot. It's just what Monroe was missing. The chef even gave us extra shrimp and was so sweet. Simple fish and chips restaurant. Great fish, cooked properly. This isn't a place where you get the 72 spice flavors thrown into a weird batter to cover up crappy fish. We were on our way to another restaurant when we passed Monroe Fish and Chips. We decided to give them a try even though we hadn't seen them on Google Maps. What a great decision! Can I just say the fish tacos are fabulous!?! I'm usually not a big fan of salsa slaw, but these are tasty. I've been twice this last week alone. Also, the fish and chips are wonderful. When we first decided to go I read the reviews and some weren't favorable. I have been several times over the past year and every time has been great. Fish cooked well - hot and moist and not greasy and plenty of fries with a little green herb seasoning. Fresh lemon wedge, and 2 tartar which leaves a little left when you are finished. Coleslaw is ok but I am picky about slaw. The best part is the price. A 3 piece fish is reasonable ($13.76) and about .75 more than the 2 piece. 3 piece is enough for 2 to share. All the extras on the table - napkins, malt vinegar, ketchup, hand sanitizer to make this a good experience. read more

I want so much to love this food establishment but at this time I can't. The Clam Chowder would be my least favorite of all that I ate. It lacked flavor and really seems it came from a can. For $4.98 for a small cup it should be the best Clam Chowder I ever ate but disappointed instead. The Fish, was mushy inside but the good news, I loved the Chips. I know they are a new establishment and we needed a Fish and Chip restaurant and my hopes are they will tweak the menu to perfection but at this time it's a No for me. read more

Best fish and chips I've had in a very long time, possibly the best ever. The prices are very good and the serving sizes large. The fish is perfectly battered and crispy on the outside. The fillets are large, thick and very juicy! The owner is extremely friendly and gave us a free sample of the clam chowder which was delicious. With very little local competition in the fish and chip market, I was very pleased when this place opened. It's small, but the employees are super friendly. In fact, they gave me a free piece of halibut because it was a tad over cooked. Well, it tasted pretty great and it made a great first impression.
