Yum! Beer battered fish! Stopped by for a quick lunch after enjoying a day at the beach. This place is literally across the breach and parking is free so that was a plus to dine in. The restaurant is very spacious. There is also an outdoor bar with outdoor seating. It's great for a nice day out but if it's really hot then the AC and indoor seating is also very nice. They have a big menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entree's and also a big drinks menu. I ordered a $6 margarita and my boyfriend got a $4 draft beer. We each ordered fish sandwiches with a side of fries. My beer battered fish sandwich was gigantic and delicious! The batter was super crispy and crunchy. The fish was hot off the grill basket! It tasted fresh and I really liked the slaw sauce that came with it. I grabbed a bite of my boyfriends sandwich and it was also very good. The waiter was very nice and attentive. Everything from the delicious 2lb lobster, corn on the cob, shrimp and sausage on my Yankee Suppah to a buffalo chicken salad, Shrimp scampi and a delicious Connecticut Lobsta Roll. This place is super fun. We came on a Saturday night and Jay Brown music and his wife were playing and it was so much fun. We had five of us for an early dinner and and were seated inside. Outside the bar was packed, live music is being played, but inside the dining area was about 20% filled. My first impression is that the action is gonna be all outside and the inside dining may be secondary. Since this was my sister's birthday celebration, I was hoping for a good experience. Our server was very nice, very accommodating, and checked up on us frequently. As for the food, it was a hit or miss situation. We ordered beverages and three were not alcoholic, but 2 ordered the very jumbo margaritas. I will have to say they were a big hit! For appetizers, we had the fish dip, the Monstah Poutine and the large shrimp cocktail. Of the three the "poutine" was the most successful. Good flavor and everybody enjoyed it. The fish dip was bland, but I have to say the plate was the nicest looking because it had a full complement of chopped red onion, diced tomatoes, an assortment of olives, sliced hot peppers, and I believe a couple of sliced pickles . They were the best part of that dish. The shrimp were very large, but unfortunately, they were a little overcooked and very chewy. Now for the entrées. Two of us had ordered the salmon. The salmon itself was a rather small piece that had for some reason a slathering of barbecue sauce on top. There was something called a "corn salsa" as a side that was pretty tasteless. The parsley potatoes were nothing special. One highlight was the Connecticut lobster roll. It was full of lobster and delicious. The birthday girl had the stuffed lobster and she seemed to enjoy every bit of it. My fried sea scallops were cooked perfectly, but the hush puppies were as hard as marbles. One other miss were the french fries, as they were unsalted and not very appetizing. Overall, it was a mild disappointment. Some things were so good and others just weren't. We split an appetizer - shrimp and lobster baked dip served with house made chips. Only two shrimp and some small lobster pieces in a very liquid base that was bland and messy to eat. The worst experience I've had in Indian Rocks. Just stay away. Start with it is a lobster restaurant that had no lobster to serve and they don't tell until after you have ordered drinks and an appetizer. We would have just left up front if you were honest. The food quality was terrible from hush puppies with raw batter inside to clam strips which was just fried batter This was my fourth different restaurant in Indian Rocks during my stay and the only one I would say just do not go the food is terrible with what they do have and the drinks way over priced for mixers. read more

So glad I decided to ignore the one, 1 star review. My family, thirteen of us thoroughly enjoyed Monstah. Even though the place was very busy and we were a large group, we were seated almost immediately. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. I had the crispy shrimp, they were large and very tasty, my wife got the stuffed lobster (yes they had lobster) and looking at her large plate she commented that there was no way she was going to finish it all...she couldn't stop eating it, it was so good. One of my daughters and her fiancé ordered the lobster rolls, they both enjoyed them. My other daughter and her husband ordered the lobster and they went on and on how good they were. The grandkids who are usually very picky also enjoyed their food, Our waitress was excellent, our food arrived promptly and everyone was very pleased. Everything was reasonably priced and the menu is quite extensive. We are in town for only a few more days, but we will return again. read more

Knew Crabby Bills bought previous Restaurant. Road by and saw new name. Looked up Monstah Lobstah and learned that it had been in business 40+ yrs in Indian Rocks. Asked waitress where was previous address. She stated, this was new. Showed her website that clearly noted this information. She then got very indifferent with us. This was very deceptive!
