It's your typical Montana's. Came here late yesterday on Labour Day and was surprised they were still open until 11. Needed to complete a contact tracing form via their website prior to being seated. Ordered the Double Onion and Smoky Bacon Cheeseburger with fries on the side for $16.99. The burger was cooked well and there was a nice added touch with the onion rings and smoked bacon. No complaints and I would probably order it again. They had 1/2 price 8pc wings on Monday and the honey garlic flavour was good. Standard stuff overall. read more

Ordered the chicken and ribs. Dry chicken and burnt ribs that were not edible. Would not return

I went to the Gardiners Montana tonight with my family. One of my family members ordered the Caesar Salad and the spinach dip. On her first bite of her Caesar Salad she noticed something sharp in her mouth and pulled out a piece of a finger nail. The server (who was a good server btw) came over, was aghast, and said he would send over the manager. He also asked if she wanted another salad but she was pretty turned off of Caesar Salads by this time. The manager DID NOT SHOW UP. At the end of our meal while settling the bill, our server informed us there would be no charge for the salad. We were visibly upset so he stated that he would again get his manager (I felt like he should have been the manager by this point). The manager finally came to our table apologized and added "you did notice that the cost of the salad was not on the bill.". Not being charged for a salad you did not eat is not a big reimbursement. Now we realize that sometimes things get into food during preparation but reimbursing her for her whole meal would have been much more appropriate. Also, the server should NOT have been left to handle a situation that was clearly the managers responsibility and we certainly did not appreciate her patronizing attitude in regards to the salad refund. I ordered a steak meal. I asked the waitress if they could make the steak well done. When the steak arrived, the steak was bloody and raw. I returned the steak and the whole meal as everything was bloody from the steak. The waitress should have just said from the start, they can't make a steak well done. If I would have ordered the steak blue rare, I don't know how much more raw they could make it, than what they served me. I suspect this restaurant just doesn't want to spend on the power and bit of time to make a steak well done. Good thing I didn't order a hamburger. read more

If you're a sports team (hockey, softball, etc.), don't bother coming here. They really don't want your business. We went in at 4:30PM on a Saturday to grab an early dinner, before their dinner rush. They gave us a section, and then we put all the kids together (teammates) and all the parents sat together. Then they decided that with 4 wait-staff, they couldn't handle it (i.e. order by #). They then told us they would not serve us unless we sat as families. So, we had to separate all the kids (that were trying to team-bond), and had to do a lot of moving around. It was chaos and chewed up over 30 minutes of people standing around and figuring out what to do. We had a game in 3 hours, and thought we had lots of time...but thanks to them, they really held us back and had no free time at all left. Anyway, they don't want to bother with kids, especially a team of kids. At other like-restaurants, we've had only 2 servers, and they were able to provide excellent service for our entire team, so it can be done. They had 4 servers and essentially told us to "get out". 12 of us did leave and went elsewhere because there wasn't enough individual tables to sit as "families". This is a tough one. Maybe I'm crazy, I really hope so. I went to Montana's and got a double order of the Smokey Bacon Mac n' Cheese. My server was super chipper and helpful. Back with my root beer in no time flat, and again big enthusiasm and wide eyes. He just seemed really playful or something. But it also all rang hollow. I think it was all a put on. When he got back I mentioned that I had gotten my oil changed that day and he seemed way to responsive. He said "NO WAY! Money pits right? But you keep on top of the fluids and work for ya! Hahaha, need anything?" all with his big eyed smile. Something seemed really off. My gut just told me this guy can not be trusted. He's hiding something. This is all a strange gloss on something much darker. I tried to sustain eye contact for as long as possible while he moved about the restaurant, but he'd always avert his eyes and come over asking if I needed anything. Even while at my table he wouldn't maintain eye contact for more than a few seconds at a time. Great food, great price, but he was just one of those guys you think you might read about in the paper some day. read more

Meat (beef) was very good. French Fries tasted old and cold, cole slaw was good but skimpy portions. Service is poor. The waitresses are friendly enough but show little concern for your happiness beyond taking my order. Someone else brings the food to you and then you're on your own. I wanted to order a glass of water after my meal came but couldn't get any service. Not worth what they charge, I won't be back anytime soon. read more

This gets three stars because of the good service, and the kids always have a good time at this location. The food here is better then most other Montana's. I just wanted something to snack on as the kids had fun, so I went with the pulled pork poutine. It tasted good. read more

Average at best, I got the rib eye ($27) and it was less than an inch thick with no seasoning (not even salt and pepper). It was cooked to Medium rare but was tasteless. Not worth the price what so ever. Stick with basic chain items like fries and beer. read more

Terrible service!! We went to Montana's for my birthday and it couldn't have been a more unpleasant experience. First of all, we got our drinks after our meals were served only because I had to remind her that we didn't get our drinks yet. Then they got my order wrong which was their fault but of course they looked at me as if it was my fault. When they came back with my new burger, they didn't even bother toasting the bun, which is a very basic thing. Then after we were finished, the waitress asked us if we wanted dessert and I said yes because it was my birthday. She said they could do something special. Then she comes out with my piece of cake. Me and my boyfriend looked at each other like wtf?? Hello, where's the candles and the antlers?? So then she comes back over and I said, so is the birthday thing only for kids? And she said she forgot and took my half-eaten cake and put a sparkler on it and gave me a pathetic paper crown and said they don't do the antlers anymore. All I wanted to do was has a fun time and they totally ruined it for me. Never going back there. I mean if I took my kid there and they forgot his birthday, I would be even more pissed off. On my way to Toronto I stopped here with my wife and little guy. Our experience was average at best I have to say. The food did not impress me to be excited. But having said that it is a chain restaurant and I was not expecting gourmet food! The service was also average at best! The hostess that sat us down was in la la land. She was very young and when we asked if there was a booth she simply grabbed the menu's and kept walking to a table. I am sure she dealt and sat a ton of people this day and I totally understand, but I have to say I am a customer and to be honest I don't care about how bad it is. When you are in the service industry a smile goes a long way, PRETEND!! Lol. Our waitress was again average at best. We were sat right next to the kitchen with a 9 month on a high chair!! Hmmm..lol...Any way she only did the bare minimum...again I am not complaining, so I am not going to give an above average to this place. Like Blair, I got the (expensive) rib eye, medium rare, and it was tasteless, they must be saving money on spices. Served on a cold plate, even the baked potato was cold! It certainly does not cost anything to heat the plates, or serve warm food. I guess they just don't care. We came here to compare their steaks with Texas Roadhouse. What a disappointment!
