The driving range at the Montclair golf course, with a large buck!

Great atmosphere, people are friendly. The price is reasonable and very convenient off highway 13! The driving range has two floors and plenty of room.

I was invited out to this location. This is my opinion as a non golfer. There is a good amount of parking. This place looks like its been here for a while so no really as appealing to the eye. It seems like this is a nice place for regulars. The guy in the front was a little spicy and for someone who doesnt know him Id think he was rude but it seems like that was his personality. They provided everything you need. I think the cost was $15 for a bucket and club. They have two levels to hit from. The people who come here were very nice. They left early had extra balls and said we could hit them. There is also a bar here. Overall a nice experience and fun activity.

Look down the 4th tee box

The range balls are a random stockpile of scuffed practice balls, the course is barely serviceable, the tee boxes are worn down old mats and I always bring cash just in case the old owner is manning the register so I don't get yelled at. There is no virginal white marble here and the cisterns are not filled with Chanel No. 5. This very well might be the worst course in the San Francisco Bay Area. But the beer is cold and cheap, the staff welcoming and everyone here is having a good time. For a few bucks you can play this casual pitch and putt which is a great track for beginners and experienced golfers alike. I can hardly think of a better day of golf than hitting the range, walking the course (don't bother booking online, just pay in the shop and walk on) and grabbing a few beers at the bar after. Temper expectations and understand you're not at Augusta or Pebble. This is a neighborhood golf course and driving range that happens to have a homey feeling bar. If you're a fan of a good dive and more importantly a genuineness that is increasingly hard to find in this day and age, you'll be a fan of Montclair Golf Enterprises. God bless this mess!

Driving range is just bare dirt. There are no proper yardage markers. The balls are old rocks.

After 9 years I returned and absolutely nothing has changed. And when I say nothing, I'm talking about the rugs, interior and even the golf balls. $10 for a small bucket, it's the most expensive in the East Bay and the worst quality. They obviously buy the balls from eBay or from someone who picks up balls at some local muni. This is a leased property from the city and the owner refuses to put one penny into fixing it up. Unfortunately he doesn't realize that if he did it would generate more money. The food is hit or miss depending on the cook. It seems like it's a swinging door for out of work chefs who occasionally might cook something interesting before they move on to a serious restaurant that pays better. The photo by the manager (Cliff) is not the real Cliff who is the owner's son. This is the only range in Montclair so they have you by the balls and they know it.

I've been here for date nights, holiday dinners, business dinners, and countless meals with friends visiting from out of town. It's one of those rare restaurants that seems to work for just about any occasion. The service is always great, the College Avenue location is hard to beat, and I've always had good luck finding street parking nearby. The ribeye is my personal favorite and what I order more often than not. If you're coming with a group, the cheese and charcuterie plates are a great way to start. The menu is varied enough that there's always something for everyone, and I've never had a bad meal here. I was genuinely sad to hear that they'll be closing at the end of the year. Restaurants with this kind of quality, consistency, and character are increasingly rare. If you've never been, make a point of going while you still can. I'll certainly miss it once they're gone.

So what better place to dine in to celebrate out 2nd Year Wedding Anniversary at The Hideout Kitchen :) We went for dinner. Our server was KEVIN. Simply...HE IS JUST AWESOME. The noise was a bit loud that I felt I had to almost yell to have a conversation with my husband. But the vibe was great. I enjoyed looking around at the decor. We ordered: - TRUFFLE FRIES for appetizers - I loved everything about it. haha. Tastey! - linguine & clams - I ordered this. It was good. However, I felt it was way oily. And after every bite I took, I had to wipe my mouth. And I accidentally spilled oil on my shirt. - PASTA ALLA CARBONE with steak - My husband enjoyed it and started to get full towards clearing out his bowl haha. - SCALLOPED POTATOES - I ordered a side of this. Definitely was not expecting to look the way it did, but I thought the presentation was beautiful. It was good; however, I was not a fan at how crunchy and hard the top first layer was. In a few areas, it was almost burnt. But I thought it was pretty good without the need for a type of sauce on the side. - For drinks, I had to Summer sangria and my husband had the Rumble in the Jungle. We enjoyed it. Definitely hit the spot. No complaints at all about these drinks. - And Kevin surprised us with a dessert to celebrate : Cranberry Bread Pudding. This was delicious. Very flavorful. I am not really into Cranberry, but this is definitely an exception. Loved the fruits on the side as well. The Hideout Kitchen will always have a place in our hearts. We will definitely come back. We still need to try this place out for Brunch. We need to try their UBE pancakes! hehehe. And thanks Kevin for being amazing that night!

I got the cherry sour which was very sour and fruity - a little surprising (in a good way), delicious, and refreshing. I ordered the fish and chips but wanted a vegetable so I also got the melon and tomato salad. I'm a sucker for flan so I also had to try that. The fish and chips were perfect and piping hot and crispy. The salad was unfortunately a little disappointing; neither the melons nor tomatoes tasted very ripe so the whole salad was just a bit lacking in flavor. The flan also had a sliiiightly overcooked texture, but was overall pretty good, with a well-executed caramel sauce. Portions are also very generous!
