Saturday was my first time back at Majestic since the new management took over, and I have to…read moresay--it was a great experience. Even though it was quite crowded, everything felt very well organized. The wait time to be seated was reasonable, and the staff were warm and welcoming from the start. Our waiter, Lorena, truly stood out. She was incredibly patient and accommodating while we took our time deciding what to order, and she was very helpful in guiding us through the menu. On top of that, she had such a pleasant and positive attitude that made the whole experience even better. As for the food--it did not disappoint. I had the salmon, which I would absolutely recommend. My daughter ordered the steak frites with French fries, which was excellent, and my other daughter had the same dish with mashed potatoes. Everything was so good that we left our plates embarrassingly clean. We'll definitely be coming back. And if you happen to get Lorena as your server, you're in for a genuinely great dining experience.

Great vibes and fancy decorating. The food was all phenomenal. My mom loved her salad and ate every bite. The salmon benedict was incredible. Great flavors with the garnishing on top and the potatoes were perfectly cooked and great service, our waitress was very attentive as well as the other staff.

The Mt. Vernon Ave foodie district. We found Matt & Tony's…read moreonline and the menu immediately caught our attention. We decided to go. When we arrived, the place was busy with people waiting, and we were quoted a 40-minute wait. We decided to walk back to our car, which was about two blocks away, but before we could even get settled, we received a text that our table was ready. From the time we got back to the car, it was maybe five minutes. So despite the crowd, there really wasn't much of a wait at all. The hostess was no-nonsense but friendly, which I appreciated. Every staff member we saw coming in and out with food seemed pleasant and welcoming. There was both indoor and outdoor seating available, and since we chose first available, we ended up outside. The weather was beautiful, and it turned out to be the perfect spot. The menu made choosing difficult--in the best way possible. I always love when a restaurant has multiple dishes I want to try. We considered ordering more because we've done that before at places we really enjoy, but we knew we'd be doing a lot of walking afterward, so we showed some restraint. We started with the Scotch eggs, and let me just say: 10 out of 10. They were absolutely fantastic and ended up being one of my favorite things we ate all day. My husband ordered the cornmeal pancakes with mole syrup and a breakfast biscuit sandwich, devoured. I went with the classic breakfast--eggs over medium, bacon, home fries, and coffee. Everything was delicious. The bacon was another standout--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Honestly, every bite was good. We left full, happy, and already talking about what we'll order next time. The server was awesome, the food was memorable, and the entire experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Final Verdict: 5/5 Stars The Scotch eggs alone are worth the trip, but the combination of great food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere makes this a place we'll definitely be returning to.

Clearly people love it as there was a wait the whole time we were there and the restaurant was packed. I loved my drink, the Taipei Punch. I would definitely order that again. I got the French Toast and it was mid at best. It just wasn't flavorful. My friend got the steak and eggs. Likewise she was underwhelmed. The presentation/plating is great, but when it came down to it, the meal was just ok. Perhaps another dish will change my mind, but I won't be rushing back to find out.

Friend and I went here for brunch and really enjoyed it…read more Between the two of us, we ordered: - a pumpkin pie latte - a veggie lover omelet - eggs florentine - coffee cake Everything we got was quite good, and the service/atmosphere was wonderful too. Not to mention, it felt so fairly-priced compared to most places in Old Town! We spent about $50 between the two of us, which included a 20% tip on our bill. Hard to beat in this area honestly, especially given the quality of the food and service. I look forward to coming back and am so glad to finally have an answer to "where do you recommend going for brunch in Old Town?" -- a question that I've historically struggled with when people asked!

We stopped into HomeGrown on King Street for breakfast while visiting Alexandria. First impressions…read morewere very positive--the restaurant is clean, modern, and has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and the menu had several items that sounded interesting. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the setting. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which came with eggs and breakfast potatoes. The meal itself was good, and I liked that the eggs were included since that's not always the case with biscuits and gravy. I also ordered a Bloody Mary that was advertised on the menu as being garnished with bacon, celery and a pickle spear. When it arrived, there was no bacon, celery or pickle spear, and I was told they were out. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice to know before ordering. The biggest issue was service timing. There were four of us dining together, and three meals arrived while the fourth entrée didn't show up for about ten more minutes. Since nobody wanted to eat while one person sat without food, our meals cooled off while we waited. Ironically, the delayed meal was a BLT--which did have bacon on it and even a pickle spear.... I finished my first Bloody Mary and ordered a second. After waiting 15-20 minutes with no drink arriving, our check was brought to the table and I ended up canceling it. My wife's meal was the biggest disappointment. It was served with corn chips that were extremely stale, which really hurt the overall dish. HomeGrown has a lot of potential. The atmosphere is great, the staff was pleasant, and parts of the meal were enjoyable. However, between the service delays, missing menu items, stale chips, and drink issues, there is definitely room for improvement.
