This store is awesome! They have everything you need in one place - what better service can you ask for. I've been here multiple times and the people are very friendly and caring. They make you feel like family, which I love! They have everything from yummy breakfasts, if you need a quick bite for lunch, Ice cream for the kids (and adults), tasty sandwiches, shakes, and who can forget beer/wine. Whenever I need help, they are the first to recommend new wines for any get togethers or party. And let me tell you, their selection was a hit! Monterey Mart & Cafe is a must! Most offensive owner. The last one had his moments but this one is the worst when it comes how he treats his customers. He's had very racist remarks against minorities, he's gotten into yelling matches with his customers who bring him business. He gets worse when he's drunk, I can't enjoy a drink because he's so offensive. I have seen folks leave out of their highly offended and the locals don't say anything because they deal with him. It's a shame because this area is a nice area. But attitude like makes the place look like a corner store slum market. 7-11 is around the corner and Pike and Rose has more class. Been here several times and have become our go-to place. MM&C has a nice rotating selection of craft beer along with a good selection of wine. Service is consistently good and if they don't have what you're looking for, they will try to have it the next time you come back. Really thoughtful service. I love this place, and it's a big reason why I'm renewing my lease with the Monterey apartments. The Monterey Cafe goes way beyond the traditional corner convenience store. In fact, it's in a league of its own. I mean, where else in MD can one find an amazing selection of craft beers, all the convenient store accoutrements, and also drink and eat delicious made-to-order sandwiches and naan pizza?! The owner is incredibly friendly and very knowledgable about each beer or wine he stocks, and is constantly updating and changing the selection. Chances are if there is a beer you can't find in a nearby shop, it's hiding in here. I enjoy my trips to the Monterey Cafe, and I appreciate their effort to be both an outstanding business as well as great neighbors. I hope this place sticks around for years to come. read more

I am a huge fan of the quesadilla!!!!! I have not tried anything else yet but that!!! Hands down the best thing they have!!!! Also a good selection on beer and wine. The guy who runs the Mart is very charming and provides excellant customer service. I thought it would be pricey since of the location but the food beer coffee ciggs are within a totally reasonable price range. I work next door and I def visit this place when I come to work. Better than average beer selection and a phenomenal wine selection. They also make pretty good sandwiches. The owner-operators are really friendly and make you feel valued. I reside in The Monterey Apartments, so I am so thrilled to have this mart a few steps away with great store hours. The family who owns this business treats you like family and knows your name. The store has a variety of coffees (Caribou), fresh sandwiches, dip Hershey's ice cream, smoothies, groceries, pet food PLUS beer and wine. Every Wednesday, they receive new shipments of wine (all kinds including sparkling) and beer. They take wine requests, which is such excellent customer service. I believe they will even give you a discount on a case. Honestly, I am so happy to have a full-service store so close by. OOH, they take all major credit cards too. I love being able to use my AMEX and receive points. Montrose Road/Rockville Pike. Safe, well-lit area! I chose "moderate" price range due to the wine prices. They have $6.99 wines to $45.00, which accommodates all wallets and variety. Food and grocery prices are very reasonable. read more

Great place to pick up growlers of good beer. Knowledgeable and friendly too. Sort of off the beaten path, but a cool place nonetheless. Easy parking too.
