Place is great! Salads, blt, lime cilantro soup!!!! All of it really good in my experience so far, probably 8-10 visits! So good. Its expensive, worth it, but expensive! Parking sucks but not their fault, small little spot with a few big businesses it seems. Super recommended... ORDER AHEAD!! no wait mostly and in and out! Delicious! Keep up great work! Great cafe that is located close to West Oakland bart station! If you're working in or around 150 Linden St, it is highly convenient as there are NO other options in this area, seriously. The food is amazing most cafes do not offer good food like this. Great coffee, great service etc. lots of my co workers eat here as well and everyone is happy. Highly recommended read more

I use to work in this building and went in often to grab brunch or lunch. They have many vegetarian options and the staff is very friendly.

I think this place is great! Very good service, good quality ingredients, and always very friendly staff. I've placed orders for large groups of people in my office and they always love the food. And are surprised how good it is! Only have had one miss with one of the salad's (Pear Salad), a few of my group just didn't care for it. It has arugula in it, I think you have to like arugula. :) Yes, it does get busy at lunch, and it does help to place your order early so call ahead if you don't want to wait. But all in all so happy they are close by, way better than any other sandwich shop in West Oakland! read more

Without question, Montse's is a community staple. From a practical point of view, it's one of the only places to eat in the area for those who work around here, but it's also so much more than that. I go to Montse's because when I don't, I miss it. I miss the people, I miss the food, I miss the killer playlist, and I miss the big comfy couch that I always wish I could sit on for just a little while longer. Missing Montse's might be the only reason I look back on my last day working close by and sigh, because I don't get to come back as often. That said, I'll make sure to do the best I can. This place is the place to go for lunch or breakfast during the week if you work near Jack London square. It might be hard to find the first time since it is on the entrance floor of an old brick office bldg. THIS PLACE IS A GEM. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. I have been eating here 2-3 times a week for the last 2.5 months and have not had anything that I didn't enjoy. The wraps and sandwiches are great. The salads are delicious. They usually have 1-2 specials a week. The portions are very good. I have the cheeseburger special the other day with fries and salad which was delicious. Also they have homemade aqua frescas which are very tasty. Make sure to check this place out if you are in the area. read more

Very convenient cafe located in an old Del Monty Cannery building off of third st. They have a nice selection of made to order hot and cold sandwiches, fresh salads, wraps, pastries and more. The coffee here is also quite good. If you work nearby, its a lunch must. read more

Their toasted lox and bagel are extremely tasty! I found this place while searching for a cafe to stop by since me and my friend were really early for our clinical rotation. This was one of the few places that opened really early in the morning, so why not? The staff was really friendly and even told us where their coffee came from and who sourced it! My friend ordered the coffee and said if we were ever near this area she would come back again. The place is near the shipyard areas so it was a bit confusing entering a cafe near that area. Now let's talk food! The toasted everything on it bagel with a generous portion of smoked salmon, lettuce, fresh cut tomatoes, a few prices of purple onion, and a smear of cream cheese made by Montse cafe brought me back to New York famous Esse a Bagels. Truly it was nice having that similar taste and quality service in the Bay Area! Their is plenty of parking in the area and if you walk down the block, you will see the view of SF from Oakland side. Amazingly Delicious!.. The place is located in a building surrounded by offices near Jack London Square and it can be a little tricky to find but the search is worth it!.. I believe the place re-opened a few months ago but the new owners are super nice and efficient and they don't hesitate in giving you a great costumer service, starting from the gentleman behind the counter (owner) who is always happy to answer any questions on the menu and make your visit very pleasant to the gentleman( who happens to be the other owner) who will prepare your delicious lunch. The place is small and casual with a few tables but always clean and always fresh. Everything is cooked to order and I don't know if they bake their own bread but it is always crispy outside and soft inside. I personally like their hot sandwiches ( chicken and bbq pork). The menu has a big variety of items from salads, sandwiches , yogurts, snacks , coffee and more. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed , I've been there many times and I can tell not only people working in the building go there it's getting popular for outsiders too! Monste's is a great little café that serves excellent sandwiches and wraps and great latte's! It's a busy little place during lunch time, but you can call in and order you items for pick up. You can't go wrong with their sandwiches and the people there are just the absolute nicest! Each time I go there I try a new item. Thus far, I like the pastrami sandwich the best, but the lox bagel is my new favorite. But you can't go wrong! read more

They've got a surprisingly good selection of tasty sandwiches and salads (their bbq pulled pork is great), and their chipotle spread (on a bagel) or chipotle mayo on sandwiches is amazing. The staff are friendly and pleasant, and the place has a comfortable, down home kind of vibe. This is way better than I expected from a building cafe. Montse's is so good, I almost wish it wasn't. There's no incentive to bring a lunch from home with such good food available here! The best thing on the menu hands down is the Chicken Montse sandwich or wrap. The others are good too, but the Chicken Montse is the best by far. They have great Agua Fresca flavors as well, and they change every day, so keep an eye out for that. (Their bagels are subpar, but only because I'm still looking for that perfect NY bagel in California, which apparently doesn't exist.) read more

This spot is a small whole in the wall with great delicious food and great service! They have many delicious food options. They have soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads, sides and recently they added breakfast options. Food is always made to order and warm (if you order hot food) :D. My favorite is the Montse Chicken Sandwich. I recently had a Parm Bagel with their Chipotle Cream Cheese. Yummy!!! I would be lost without my friends at Montse's! Great food. I love all the sandwiches, but you really can't go wrong with the Chicken Montse on dutch crunch, or the Blue Salad. If you're lucky enough to be here when the special is the cheeseburger, GET IT! Sooo good! Although all of the specials are usually pretty spot on. The coffee is great, plus they have iced tea, aqua frescas (always delicious), and a wide variety of canned and bottled drinks. The guys that work here are some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and they actually care enough to get to know their customers by name. True, there isn't a ton of seating, but it is maximized for the space that they have. Montse's is always clean and comfortable, and the staff always greets me with a smile. They take orders ahead of time over the phone, which is so great if you find yourself needing to order lunch early in the day for pick up later. They also offer tons of breakfast pastries, bagels, and SUPER tasty omelettes! Wow what an unexpected surprise! I needed a quick place to stop for lunch while heading down the 880 and Yelp to the rescue!! I just enjoyed the very best strawberry mint lemonade that wasn't too sweet or too tart but just a perfect blend. The special today was a peach and prosciutto wrap. Well it was so good they sold out of prosciutto so they used bacon in mine. I can't imagine it any better! I will be back and just wish they we open in the evenings because I bet they would offer something pretty special if they were. read more

Work in the building, and go here at least 2-3 times a week. Great omelets, sandwiches (the BBQ pork and Chicken Montse are 2 of my favorites) and the salads are another solid option. I was introduced to Montse's by a co-worker and was initially amazed at the quality of their product. These sandwiches are some of the best on this side of Oakland undisputedly! But I really wanted to go into a story in which I ordered a reuben foolishly without looking into the ingredients. I saw that it had mushrooms once I had picked up the order and asked that they pick them out. Unfortunately it was melted into the cheese so I said it was okay to wait 15 mins for another sandwich. They delivered undoubtedly but on my next visit, they had recognized me and given me a free sandwich because of the problems/delay on the last order. I felt like it was my fault for not reading into the ingredients of the sandwich but they insisted that they were going to give me a free sandwich. I fought but they eventually won me over. Talk about excellent customer service! I'd highly recommend this place but it's a little hard to find. Can't really describe it to you unless I'm walking you there! read more

This place is incredible! Tucked away in the industrial district of West Oakland, this little cafe is a godsend for those of us who work around it. Despite being in the relative middle of nowhere, this place is always packed around lunch time, and for good reason.
