This is my go-to massage place in Fremont for body and foot massages. My favorite masseuse is Betty; not only she applies the right pressure when she massages my body and my feet, she is also always greets me in a cheerful manner. In the middle of the massage she also always checks in to make sure I was ok. Other than Betty, I've had only 1 other masseuse (i don't remember her name though); she was good too in terms of the technique though sometimes she applies a little too much pressure for my liking and not as friendly as Betty. I will continue coming here for massages. The price point isn't the cheapest, but also not the most pricy, but I feel that you do get what you pay for- in terms of the massages. I tried the aromatic steam service the first time I came here but can't really say it's worth the price. I booked for a 45 min session, but it felt like the machine turned off 15 mins early so I was lying there cold for 15 mind until the front-desk lady came and got me. I did doze off for most of the time the machine was on though. I would love to hear if anyone else has a good experience with the aromatic steam service to see if maybe my experience is a on-off thing. I called around 6:30 on a Friday night and they were able to accommodate massages (in a couples massage room!) for us as early as 7:15 that same evening. There is plenty of parking and the facility itself is huge, but seemed very busy. There were a few people who seemed like regulars waiting in the lobby area and the front desk, while busy, greeted us by name. We paid upfront but had the opportunity to tip after, which worked out fine, and were led to a clean room in the back of the building for our massages. I went there for the first time yesterday for a 60 min foot massage and will not be going back. My feet got kinda beaten up to the point where today I have faint bruises on the tops of both feet. As far as I could tell, none of the massage therapists speak English. The massage did not last 60 mins. I never (ever) have cash on me so pd a $15 "regular" tip upon arrival - the therapist, who met me near the exit with a Styrofoam cup of warm water - did not know that and assertively asked for a tip as I was trying to leave. Visited today with a Groupon voucher purchase for a 45 minute Reflexology- foot massage. I was greeted upon and arrival and check- in was a breeze. The facility is very well kept and pleasing to the eye. My visit began with a 15 minute foot soak in sea salt. Honestly speaking, thebfoot massage was rather rough and seemed rushed and I can't say it was a true Reflexology massage because trigger points weren't massaged.- I can say I do believe the male masseuse meant well and probably had no idea he was as rough as he was. He offered another massage, but for full body (for an additional cost of course).- Though tempted to to take him up on his offer, I didn't want to imagine how much more rough he would be. My wife and I have been frequent visitors to Moodup Wellness in Fremont for many years but have not been recently. We decided to go for our anniversary for foot massages. We were surprised to see that their prices have nearly doubled. With the cost of everything going up we weren't too shocked. The massages were good! What troubled us when we were leaving they tried to guilt shame us into tipping more in front of a number of people waiting in the lobby. We left a 20% tip but they said in a loud voice that most people tip a lot more than that and were we sure we didn't want to add to our tip. It seemed to us that this was a bit sleazy and a bit unethical. When we got home our neighbors asked us how were the massage and we told them the story. We all agreed there are too many nice massage places to go to without having to put up with this kind of business. We will not be back. read more

So I gave this place a try again to see if it would be a better experience. Not really the main issue is the language barrier with the staff so they never really fully understand what you want. They are really hung up on payments and the tip process is crazy. They demand and I mean demand a certain amount from you. The masseuse will say tip, ven though I had left her the tip and the card since I didn't have cash. She kept pointing at her Venmo paper and I repeated I left a tip already. She was flipping out on me and was a total buzz kill. Also the cleanliness is so so. The walls had streaks of I don't know what where I had my massage. Price wise its not as expensive as other places but you get what you pay for. If you can overlook that then your ok. The place was so clean and quiet, and the staff was very friendly :) The massage room was big, and it had chairs and tables for the both of us. I tried to enjoy the massage and tried to ignore the fact they were being so disrespectful. Not the best massage I had, but my boyfriend and I got dress and where ambushed at the exit by these 2 ladies, I handed a $20, and they stepped in front of my boyfriend and would not let him out until he pay another $20. He indicated we paid what the chart in the front suggested and they say "NO that is the tip for a 60 min not 90 min" They ask him to open his wallet, and demanded the $100 bill and told him they will make change. They force us to tip $40 for half decent massage. It went through downhill since the pandemic. Got a couples massage from here 1 month ago. I specifically told the receptionist that I want my pressure to be strong and steady but the lady that massage me was lousy. There was no pressure at all even though I asked million times to do it harder. So my husband and I exchanged masseuse and she promised to do it better. Well, it was a disaster! I'm used to firm, hard and strong but that massage was nothing like it. I feel like the lady aimed to hurt me rather than massaging me to relax. I guess I was so desperate for a massage that I go through with it 'til the end. Big mistake! I was sore and bruised the next day. I booked an appointment at 4:30pm but we were a bit late due to Bay Area traffic but the receptionist was very understanding and pushed my appointment back for 15 mins. Once we arrived the receptionist was very welcoming, she asked us what did we want for our massage so she can send the message to the masseuses. My fiancé and I wanted full body with no focus on the feet. Our masseuse, we requested a male for fiancé and female for me. I forgot the name of our masseuse, but they got through every point and all our knots were almost completely gone. My biggest issue is that if you pay for a 1 hour massage, you don't get a 1 hour massage. They will first waste 10 minutes of your massage time giving you a different massage therapist than the one you requested and you have to correct them and wait for the therapist you requested to get off their break and get their room ready. Next, they will waste another 10 minutes waiting for you to undress even though undressing only takes 1 minute. The massage therapist will waste another 10 minutes trying to up-sell you in the middle of your massage, to upgrade your 60 minute massage to 90 minutes. The massage therapist will even leave the room to go double check with front desk on the 90 minute price for you, when you didn't even ask! The massage therapist will waste another 5 minutes leaving the room to get rocks and hot towels (why aren't these kept warm in-room, like other spas do?). The massage therapist will finish 10 mins early to budget time for you to get dressed. So, paying for a 60 minute massage plus 20% tip, gets you a 25 minute massage. Enjoy read more

Just came here for a 30 minute foot massage with my husband. The massage was less than 30 minutes... it was 25 minutes. This included the time it took for them to go grab a hot towel as we were just waiting for them to continue the massage. According to their website, a 30 min massage is $25 if you pay with cash and $27 if you use a card. They charged us $28 for using a credit card. That's an additional $6 that we were charged for using a card. As we were leaving, the lady that massaged my feet, literally chased us asking for a tip. She made hand gestures and said "where's my money??" We were so disappointed that's how they asked for tip, that we ended up not giving them a tip. I got a massage here. They were pretty easy to book with online and their price was really cheap for the first time. The massage was awful, I don't know what the lady did but my back was in SO much pain for the next 4 days after the massage, I ended up taking a couple days off work because it was so intolerable. It didn't hurt at the time, which is why I didn't tell her to stop during the massage, but once I got home the pain started setting in. I ended up having to go to a chiropractor to help manage the pain. Also the people here are very rude. I paid card for my massage and said I was going to tip cash. I handed her back the receipt after I signed and once she sees the tip line empty immediately she goes "where's the tip?" Note that I was reaching for my wallet to get out cash to tip as she was saying it. You should not expect people to tip you because we are not obligated to tip you. I've been to MoodUp Wellness numerous times and found that Linda is always a very good masseuse. This place used to be A Perfect Day before it was changed to MoodUp Wellness. On a few occasions where Linda was not available, I opted to try other masseuse so see if they were as good as Linda, but to no avail, I find Linda is the best by far. The masseuses I've tried that's not Linda don't speak English and the male one (Tony) is by far the worst I've had. In my opinion, the tipping has been more of an entitlement for these people that's providing services. Tipping should be based on the customer's satisfaction of how well the services were provided. People are now "demanding" for 50% or more of the total bill for tip and that should not be the case! So, back to Tony. In my opinion and experience with receiving massages, I find Tony lacks the techniques and experience. He showed up to the room about 10 mins late and he finished about 5 mins early with the extra time he took when he went out to get the hot towel. I had a lot of shoulder and neck pain, he did not even work on those areas. He basically rolled his arms back and forth on my back and he literally pour oil on by back so it's easier for his arms to just glides through up and down my back. When I asked him to work on my shoulders and neck area, he ignored me and he doesn't speak English. I even use my arms to circle around my shoulders and neck to show him the areas of pain. When the massage ended and I came out of the room, I opted to give him 15% tip of the total bill anyways. I typically tip based on service with the minimum for the lousy service at 15%. I know and sensed that he was furious when he received the 15% tip and he called to me "No!" I know what he wanted, but I ignored him and walked away to my car. I will never ever use him again and if Linda is no longer there, I will not be coming back to MoodUp Wellness. On a side note, I know some people do not give decent tip to the service providers and that's not fair or nice either. read more

I went to get a 90 minute massage. When I arrived, the front desk receptionist didn't say anything to me until one of the massage therapist told her I was there. I then had to pay for the massage before it began. I said I wanted to wait to pay a tip based on how the masseuse did. After the massage, I was very dizzy and didn't feel well. The receptionist asked how was my massage and I said it was ok. She looked at me very surprised and said "just ok?" I decided to pay about a 13% tip in cash. When I gave it to the receptionist she said that's it? Do you want to pay more on your card? Um you're lucky I even paid a tip. I said no I don't feel well bye. The receptionist is the reason why I'm scoring low. She has horrible customer service skills. The manager, on the other hand, is very accommodating and much better customer service. The venue is decorated nicely and provides a soothing effect when you walk in. You can help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee and someone will get you greeted and checked in right away. The massage room itself was basic, but comfortable and my masseuse was very strong for such a tiny woman and was able to actually give me a deep tissue massage like I wanted. I walked out feeling very relaxed with most of my knots gone. However, w this place was pretty good in some areas, I probably will not be going back due to personal preference for what type of spa that I like going to. This is an asian run place, which means that English is not the first language for pretty much everyone that works there. If you don't speak Chinese, you may run into some language barriers. However, there are other slight nuances with Chinese run massage parlors which I do not really like. 1) The masseuse never asks you ahead of time if there are any problem areas you'd like for them to work on. They just jump right into their standard session. 2) Western spas tend to try to preserve your modesty a little more but asian ones tend to just expose a lot more of you when doing the massage which can feel awkward 3) Western spas never have the client exchange money with the therapist. You always tip at the front and then the staff will give the money to your masseuse. Alternatively, you can put the tip into an envelope and leave it in your therapist's room. In either case, you're not having to do the awkward money exchange directly. However, at this place, I confirmed with the person checking me in whether I could tip directly in cash at the front after my massage, which she said was ok. When I finished the massage, my therapist was waiting outside with some water, which I took and thanked her for before making my way up to the front. I could read from her body language that she was expecting me to have given her the tip then (which I wasn't going to do anyway since I only hard a large bill and needed to make change first), and then I could hear her following me down the hallway. I speak Mandarin fluently but I don't think any of the staff knew that since I only spoke English with them, and I heard my masseuse call out franticly "She hasn't tipped me yet! She hasn't tipped!" to the front staff. Lady, I'm not about to stiff you on a tip, calm down. The one hour prenatal massage was a full body, literally head to toe. $72. My back is a bit sore the next day but again it's fine because she got rid of knots I've had for years. Went back to get some body maintenance done since I've been working a lot more recently and this time I booked with Jim (as recommended in an earlier review). Jim was great! He draped modestly and used the perfect amount of pressure. I definitely could've used a 2-hour massage though. He was diligent with massaging the back and legs while I was facedown, but I would love more time on the front of my arms, legs and more work on my neck while I'm face up. He is only there on Mondays and Fridays though, so I already booked my next massage with him! I highly recommend him, but I'll have to try others out to see if there are other days that I could get my repair days in. read more
