Not good; went for dinner about 6:30. Fried haddock and French fries was not good one bit. Nothing was seasoned, it was over fried, and there is no way the haddock was fresh. Partner had grilled cheese and soup, and they reported that it was underwhelming. All in all we wouldn't go back. read more

My first breakfast place since everything shut down in mid March. I knew Moody's Diner was in a county that opened up dining. They had every other seat blocked off, paper menus, etc. I made my own sampler. They have super fluffy layered biscuits so I got the biscuit and gravy $3.99 and my husband and I split a few fun sides. We got side of the cheddarwurst $2.99, side of the potato pancakes (they are mini and crispy) $2.99, and side of homemade corned beef hash. I like that you can get a pancake meal or just add on a pancake or a piece of french toast for under $2.00. We decided to be bad and got a slice of blueberry pie. They are known for their pies, desserts, whoopee pies. It was the BEST blueberry pie I have ever had. Sooooo many blueberries oozing out of the side. I wish they had iced coffees. You can get the desserts to go, just order at a counter to go, they have whole pies. This is on the way to Rockland, Camden, Bar Harbor, etc. Or you can go to make a day out of this area since it's near Boothbay, go to Morses Sauerkraut (awesome fancy German/European Market & more), Pemaquid Point lighthouse, Maine State Prison Showroom (awesome wood items store), Moose Crossing Garden Center, drive one of the fingers through Bremen and Bristol. read more

The pancakes I ordered could not be cut with a fork. They bounced when the fork tried to cut them. They stretched when the knife tried to cut them. I have eaten at Moody's many times and never had a problem. Will not be ordering pancakes there again. The server said that is the way they always make them . Yuck. read more

Hey Hey fellow Adventurers! I was staying in the area and this had the highest rating for home made local food. It also has the cute kitschy look I expect from the best diners. I loved coming here, sitting at the bar to see how the locals came and go. All the waitresses I met were so wonderful! I ordered a different dish each time, all of which were delicious. The first time was my basic breakfast eggs over medium, home fries, bacon with blueberry pancake. The pancake wasn't my favorite but I don't usually eat sweet things for breakfast. I should have opted for the Maine syrup to at least try it. I also ordered the seafood combo (clams & haddock) with sweet potato fries. I really enjoyed the platter, though maybe splitting with someone would be so much better(big portions). With this I had ordered the haddock chowder/soup and can I just say this was amazing! Light, tasty, and very meaty. I've never had haddock this way but I've now researched recipes for back home. It was that good. Now for the pièce de résistance: the classic lobster roll. I tried 3 rolls across the coast and this by far was the best! Tasty, flavorful, and the perfect size. Generally these are priced by market, but I did ask how much was being used in the roll and it was about 1/4 lb. for this. The prices are subject to change because of the market. I can recommend this place not only for the food, the hospitality, but the adorable gift shop and kitchiness of Moody's. This place makes you feel like a local and that it's home. I snagged a campers mug but should have gotten the classic Moody's mug. They have a gift shop in the same parking lot for bringing home cute touristy tchotchkes. I did a review 9 years ago. Things have not changed. Still wonderful waitresses . The ambiance is awesome. A beautiful well kept diner. The food always delicious. Was bummed out that they don't make cheddarwotst sausages anymore. Those where my favorite as well as my kids when we stopped there. They where the best ever. Please bring them back !!! Charge extra if you need to but bring them back. They are so dam good. Service great this morning. Love this place so much ! My mom and dad brought me here for the first time 50 years ago. You know it is going to be good when you get there and all the tables are full and people are sitting in the entry of the diner. I was able to walk in and get the last seat at the counter of probably 15. Food was prepared great and service the service was professional given they are packed and it is a diner. Quick seating and they even moved us up to a 6 top for more room which was super nice! Hostess was very friendly and our waitress just as friendly. Had beverage service and biscuits to us right away and the biscuits are large light and fluffy. All you can say is Oh My Word when take your first bite out of their deliciousness. The platters of food arrived in good order and the beef tips were super tender and delicious. The rest of group order pancakes, home fries, bacon and the last two orders the grilled chicken sandwich and the chicken dinner platter with melted cheese and mushrooms. Way too much food to even think of dessert but they looked heavenly and it was hard to resist but then we'd probably have needed a forklift to get us to the car and back on the road. We booked a family July vacation at Moody's Motel , renting several cabins. It was super-peaceful and a total success. Our cabin 18 was adorable! :D - A little kitchenette with double beds. AC was kicking! I somehow left behind a part to my icemaker and Moody's located it and shipped it to me, so that I didn't have to purchase a the part. That was SO Appreciated!! (The part cost as much to replace as the machine.) :D I highly recommend Moody's Motels if you are in the area. read more

Service is prompt and attentive. It's always busy but the waitstaff is exceptionally talented. Clean. Well prepared generous portions. I love the open faced turkey sandwich. My 81 year old mother loves it! We eat here pretty regularly (several times each summer). My sister took mum twice and they loved it each time. We stopped in for a piece of pie at the counter on our way to Acadia National Park. It was delicious. My wife loves pie, and she said this four-berry pie was among her all-time favorites. The service was great, and the place has an old-timely feel that made for a unique atmosphere. A regular came in and sat down next to us and ordered a piece of pie and a glass of milk. He was a tad gruff, so we didn't know if he liked my joke about us Chicagoans preferring our pie with cheese and tomato sauce. But when he left, the server said he was in a good mood. You're surrounded by nostalgia when you enter Moody's Diner. The crisp large garden salad was served with warm, soft, delicious biscuits. Our pleasant server brought the rest of the food quickly. Chicken croquettes with potatoes and gravy was tasty and reminiscent of days gone by. The Cole slaw was excellent, crunchy, but not too creamy. Traditional haddock chowder with a good proportion of fish to potatoes was served with golden brown grilled cheese. The cheese wasn't as gooey as I like but it tasted great on light rye bread.
