Love it! Again. My family have been to this spot so many times over the years, in so many iterations. The Moon Hut, the Mexican place that was there for many years, The reopened Moon Hut a few years ago ( which wasn't so good) and now the "Sunrise Diner at the Moon Hut", which is really good again! We used to go to the Sunrise Diner for many years as well, so of COURSE this Moon Hut version, run by the owner of Sunrise, is awesome. My Breakfast Burrito was delicious, my wife's Greek Omelette was excellent, my friend's Santorini Omelette was great, my daughter's turkey and orzo soup was so good we had to order her a second cup, and my son in law's Chicken and Waffles were amazing. I'm from South Carolina originally, so I am qualified to say- this fried chicken is legit! The food is great, the historic NASA photos and memorabilia are intact, and there's even some familiar faces from the old Sunrise. Plus there's Aliens! Who could ask for more? This is a cool little spot. We can in a little early to catch the Carnival Vista and wanted to do our laundry next store. So we thought it would be convenient to eat breakfast so we could move stuff to the dryer. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken dish that came with sausage gravy, potatoes, eggs, and a biscuit. The wife took our waitresses recommendation of the fried green tomato dish and she really liked it. Our food came fast and hot and our waitress Callista checked back 2 or 3 times The prices are very reasonable $12.99 for my dish and they have a large selection. Definitely worth a try! read more

I went yesterday for lunch. The server who seated us was a little less than courteous. They didn't seem that busy. It's the Moon Hut. Quaint, kinda retro. We waited over 50 minutes for our food. I assume it's because they just moved from another location and are still working the kinks out. I ordered the pork Souvlaki. It was a very large serving of rice. 2 skewers of pork, cooked tomatoes, onions and green peppers. The issue was the pork was really tough. I didn't dare send it back, least I wait another hour. Looking forward to returning later after they are settled and getting the quality of food they are known for for. read more

Our whole party said this was one of the best breakfasts we'd had in a while!!! We had an assortment across the board: coffee, Belgian waffles, pancakes, eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, toast, and biscuits. All of it was excellent! Be forewarned that the home fries are actually thinly sliced potatoes and more similar to hash browns, but they were very good! Our server, Callista, was also amazing! The food and drinks were ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. me and my family traveled to Cape Canaveral from Great Falls MT in February 2025, and this places was closest to our airnb. I went probably every day I was down there! I had a server who called me "Miss Lady" and she was the sweetest thing ever. She's the main reason we kept going back. She was great with my kids to. From many moons ago we used to eat there for breakfast and lunch almost daily when staying at a nearby condo while on vacation. Back this I think it was family run and the people there were so friendly and nice. There was not one single item we did not like. The staff was the best anywhere and prices were great. Although we unwittingly arrived about 1/2 prior to closing, we were warmly greeted. The welcoming staff never made us feel rushed. The waitress kept our drinks topped off and was regularly checking in to see if there was anything we required. There was a sheet of butcher paper and crayons on the table for doodling. I've been looking forward to coming here since it opened and I think the restaurant finally satiates the community's need for more space-related establishments. I went with a friend for breakfast and we were impressed with the menu. It was a standard breakfast menu that hit on the classics with a few welcome surprises like iced coffee (no, the other local breakfast joints rarely have iced coffee!). Everything was going great until my friend and I decided to order. We casually debated over if we should order the same meal (chicken and waffles) or diversify so we could try out the breakfast burrito. We decided to diversify. Now, for context: I am a white woman and my friend is a black man. I order first with no commentary from the waitress; my friend orders his chicken and waffles and not two seconds later the waitress turns to him a declares emphatically "Now, how did I know that!". The waitress was not telepathic, she did not overhear the chicken and waffles discussion, she was referencing the racial stereotype of black people liking chicken and waffles. It was an incredibly unnecessary and uncomfortable comment delivered from a woman who was responsible for safely transporting our food from the kitchen. The comment completely changed the dynamic of the meal, confused my friend and I, and left us disheartened by the overt racial prejudice that we now associate with Moon Hut. I rarely leave reviews but I am hoping my friend's experience being micro-aggressed at the Moon Hut will encourage management to make necessary change to better serve the *entire* Brevard community. read more

We kept seeing this restaurant driving through town, so when we had an afternoon with no plans for where to eat, we decided to stop in. The interior decor is seriously fun. We were seated immediately and handed menus for breakfast and lunch, as breakfast is served all day. We opted for lunch and tried the Cuban sandwich and the meteor Smash Burger. The smash burger comes with two patties, cheese, and house made pickles. I'm not a huge pickle fan, but these were so good on the burger. The Cuban was a typical Cuban, it had good flavor, but didn't really have anything that pushed it up a notch. If I remember correctly they were recently re-opened and might not have been running what their final menu will end up being, so definitely a place to keep an eye on. read more

We had such a fun time at this restaurant. We enjoyed the food! It was wonderful. The server was excellent. We stopped here to eat the morning before getting on the cruise. There was 7 of us plus a baby. The service was quick. I really enjoyed looking at all the space items they have on display. A lot of space history and space items. This is a nostalgic little diner for me. Growing up in the 60s near the Cape, we always heard that the astronauts frequented this place and there is astronaut memorabilia all over the place. The menu is space based. The decor is "out of this world." It's like a mini museum of the early days of NASA. That said, we entered about 1:30. They were supposed to be open until two. Very sweet little lady told us that she thinks they're closed. But after checking with the kitchen, she led us to a table. She was very sweet as was our waitress. However, the restaurant smelled so terrible that we really could not stay. They tried to tell us it was cleaner, but I know the difference between cleaner and what we smelled. we ended up leaving without ordering. I felt badly for the wait staff because they were so kind. One of them little kids with us was practically gagging, and none of us were comfortable, staying with the smell of the place. I don't know why the smell was so strong. Maybe it's not always this way. The menu actually looked pretty good, but we really could not order. It's too bad. I used to love this place. read more

This is the second incarnation of the Moon Hut. The original opened in the early 1960s. It was a local institution for decades, until the owner retired and sold it to someone who converted it into La Fiesta, a Mexican restaurant. That owner closed it during COVID, then sold it to the current owner who has reverted to The Moon Hut. Through the ownership changes, all the memorabilia have remained. The new owner has added modern touches, such as smart TVs streaming live launch coverage and other space content. The menu is nothing fancy, but that's typical for our local culture. People want their burgers and fries. You can order hard liquor drinks if you wish, but the atmosphere is family-friendly. All the tables are covered with butcher paper so children can draw with the crayons supplied at each table. Rose and Denise were our servers. Both were very friendly and attentive. Phillip, the chef and owner partner, came out to introduce himself. The restaurant has a meeting room in the back which is very handy for groups, parties, etc. I brought a friend there last night who's in town for business; his organization will use that room in the future for private gatherings. Do astronauts eat here? Not often, but they do. I've been there with astronauts a few times. Just don't expect them to be in the iconic "blue suits" as they have private lives. The Moon Hut 1.0 was a Cape Canaveral institution for decades. The Moon Hut 2.0 hopefully will have its own long and historic run. read more
