Beautiful trees and amazing service from Curtis. He provided great advice on the type of trees and the best size for our backyard. I waited a bit to review to see how the trees would hold up and after a month I can say they are still as beautiful as when they were planted. The only issue was more on scheduling delivery and about the crew they first used, but after a week delay everything went great. I had a great experience picking out the perfect little gem Magnolia tree, 2 Mountain Laurel trees, a hybrid cocktail fruit tree, a Mule palm tree, a Pindo palm tree, 5 Agaves, 5 Gardenia shrubs, and 5 Encore Azalea shrubs with multiple arborist helping me at Moon Valley Nurseries. Everyone was so knowledgeable and extremely patient with me. There are a lot of plants to choose from and they have additional locations that they can pull from if you don't find what you are looking for. Update ** I was contacted privately through messenger on Yelp soon after making my initial review, was asked for my contact information for someone to reach out to us, but then was completely ghosted again. Today, June 5th we decided to make one last trip and finally got help from Drew who seems to be the only person who has any idea what's going on here in the Austin location. We finally scored a replacement tree. But lessons definitely learned, i highly recommend if you're doing business with moon valley, ask for Drew. Had a great experience today with Brent Alexander and his manager. I had to replace a few trees that the city rejected because they were not on the approved city list and they graciously replaced them. Definitely noted that they did the right thing here and it's worth calling out. I did love the trees that I had purchased, but the city sure is strict. Most workers were unmasked, and I didn't see any signs asking customers to be masked though about 85% were of their own accord. Like many in this area, we lost a huge palm tree during this crazy ice storm a few months ago. My husband and I had been searching high and low for an adequately sized replacement tree. We found ours at Moon Valley off Pond Springs Road in Austin. We got to pick the tree we wanted, tag it and they scheduled delivery and installation. Today was the day they planted this palm for us. The crew worked hard to prep the site. It wasn't easy access due to a sloping lot and low hanging oak tree limbs. But they did it, and it looks fantastic. I wanted to give a special shout out to Layna, who was very professional, friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this crew. read more

The only reason they get 1 star is because of the crew that came out and installed the plants we purchased. Otherwise it would be 0 stars! Could have burned $1500 cash and would have about the same as I got from Moon Valley. The install crew was great! They did a fantastic job and were very helpful. They cleaned up and were in and out. The real issue is you pay a premium for expertise and design services. We came in with pictures and videos of our pool and surrounding areas. My wife and I dont know much about plants so that's why we went to the so-called experts. I am sure that there are some folks there that know their stuff, unfortunately we didnt get that person. Our "Expert " knew where we lived, knew the climate, knew what we wanted and ended up selling us $2000 worth of stuff that mostly died during the first freeze. We paid $250 each for three bottle palm trees that died at the first sign of winter. We had asked about Mexican palms and instead the "expert" sold us something way more expensive and something that wouldnt even last the winter. See the picture below of what is left of them. Everything else that he sold us was not what he said. We said we wanted some short ground cover that would stay small. He sold us some grasses that are growing over 3.5 feet tall. When I called back about the dead trees they informed me that the warranty was only good for three months. You pay a huge premium for the "experts" to put things in place that would survive a freeze or other things of that nature. I think our sales guy just wanted to make a quick and fast sale. When they delivered all the stuff, there was actually three pineapple guava's missing. I had to call them back four times before they ever brought the other three out. When they brought the other three out I was informed that my sales guy, who by the way was new at the time, had already been fired. He only lasted a couple of months and obviously didn't know what he was doing. Six months later after the first freeze I lose over $750 worth of palm trees alone. Buyer beware! I cant imagine if we had done our whole yard! Moon Valley portrays themselves as the experts in this field but all we got was an idiot who apparently didnt know grass from a tree. It thrived but was damaged by the recent winter freeze. I called Josh and sent him a photo. He informed me that the tree was dead and would need to be replaced. He then reminded me that we had taken the extended warranty and that it would be replaced under the warranty. WOW I was thankful. Our trees were planted exactly they way we wanted. Gerardo told us how to care for them and watered and fertilized before he left. He cleaned up all the trash. So they also had to remove the old tree. The old tree did not survive a one-two punch of a late freeze followed by summer heat and drought. Spent $500 for a Monterey Oak with a 2 year warranty. The tree died. I called them and they informed me that with the freeze and drought, it was bound to happen. So much for a warranty. They did recommend I buy Moonie juice to try and revive it. No thanks. I already spent enough money at your place. I should have listened to the arborist who told me not to buy from them. From start to finish we have had a great experience starting with Ben. He absolutely was fantastic. Standing in the rain as we decided back and forth on what exactly that we wanted to get. He was forthright with any questions we had and if we go back anytime soon we'll be asking for him! Then when it is time to receive and get the trees installed we had Gerardo (I think that's how you say his name) and his crew here and they raised the bar for any of your other crews. Did a fantastic job of installing the trees, getting them perfectly straight and inline with each other. Then when it came time to clean up, they left the jobsite cleaner than they found it. Delivered and planted two dead trees. Went to request to have the trees replaced I was given the runaround. That has been over a month since I've had a tree inspector come up and agreed that the trees were planted dead they've made two appointments to come and replace her trees and I've shown up for neither of them wasting my time they do not return phone calls and when I do call them I get passed from person to person that has no idea what's going on with my file or when I'll get my replacement trees. These are fairly expensive trees which I Wayover paid for to have the convenience of someone else plant them never mind the fact that they're dead. If this is how they deal with customer service issues they're not a company worth buying from. After you had another round of phone calls Moonvalley decide to show up today to replace my dead trees unfortunately they replaced him with more dead trees ‍. When I spoke with an associate this morning I was told I actually would not get a refund even know this has been going on for over a month and they can't seem to fry the product that I paid for. read more

I recently purchased a tree from Moon Valley Nurseries in Austin and was assisted by Riley through the tree selection. At first I was going to buy a Camphor tree but decided later I preferred a different tree. Riley was extremely accommodating in exchanging it from the Camphor to a Japanese Blueberry tree. He picked out a gorgeous specimen which I'm very happy with. There was a little hiccup with delivery since I am out of their normal zone but both Riley and his manager David worked it out which I appreciated very much. I definitely recommend this nursery, their selection of trees if excellent. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary rather than the usual you'd find at other nurseries then you need to check out Moon Valley Nurseries and ask for Riley. Their product and knowledge of trees are great. But once the trees/plants are installed, the customer service is lacking. Every time I have an issue I speak with someone different who says they are going to take care of it and never does. I don't receive callbacks for anything and it takes me at least 3 phone calls to get to the right person who knows something. read more
