"Sweet Jerk Burritos" are made here for pickup at Moonbowls. I discovered them on DoorDash and the photos looked delicious so I thought I'd order one of their burritos. I'm not sure if it's a satellite of another company or if they're part of Moonbowls, or if it's a "ghost kitchen". Sweet Jerk Burritos is a different vendor if you order them online, but you pick them up at Moonbowls. The Jerk Chicken Burrito is outstanding! Was so surprised how scrumptious it is. You get lots of options when you order. I ordered mine with coconut rice (so good), black beans, sweet plantains (3 ea), cabbage slaw, pickled red onions, cheese and coconut jerk sauce. The tanginess of the cabbage slaw and the pickled onions with the sweetness of the coconut rice, the jerk sauce, and the tender chicken inside the fresh tortilla is simply fantastic. Really different but satisfying and the portion is large and a good value for $16. If you're craving Mexican food, but want something a little bit different, I would certainly recommend this option. It's one of the best burritos I've had in a long time. And the pick up window service was super nice and fast. Jamaican-Mexican-Korean fusion cuisine has arrived! We had a great experience at moonbowls. The service was great and very helpful and friendly. We didn't realize you had to order online first, but Eric took really good care of us and took our order on site. We got our food really fast. It was delicious! Fresh and very good quality. The only complaint I have is that it was difficult to find it. It's in the alley behind the building on 3rd street and there was no signage on the back of the building facing the alley. Luckily, we stopped a guy we saw come from a walkway with food and he told us where it was. I think some signage on the back of the building would be helpful. I'm not sure but I think Thrive Protein Bowls, Zuzubowls, Fatty's Teriyaki, Xenia mediterranean bowls and Moonbowls are all the same thing. A ghost kitchen. Moonbowls is the only one with a proper Yelp page. Anyway, I enjoy all the iterations this place provides. Chicken thighs or beef, rice, vegetables, good sauces (ranch, bbq, spicy, tzakiti to naem a few), good sides (picked onions, beans, avocado, broccoli, sweet potatoes). The bowls are around $16-18 which is the norm these days and they are filling, healthy, tasty. They often have 2 for 1 deals on uber eats as well. I get lunch from here at least twice a week. If you live further east they seem to have a location off Western Blvd as well. read more

I had the worst experience here! I got a flyer in the mail offering a bogo discount. There was no mention that it's not actually a restaurant but a pickup kitchen. Parking was horrendous and the alley behind was lined with cars from pickup drivers so you can barely drive through. We arrived hungry. The guy working couldn't help us with the discount and we had to call a concierge number and waited on hold forever. My teen finally found the info on his own so we ordered online and it said it would take 10 minutes. We waited over 30 minutes!!! We were very angry by the time we got the food. The guys working were no help until I told them we had an appointment to get to. All the drivers were fed up with the wait and I watched several cancel their pickups. We were running late for our appointment now so I told my teen he could eat in the car and I would wait until after we were done (starving now!). But there were no utensils in the bag WTF? And to top it all off, each bowl is supposed to come with three sides but both of our bowls only came with two and were missing the corn salad we had ordered. The flavor was meh. We both found the food to be missing something (besides the corn salad). Even if the food had been fantastic we would never go back. And $20/bowl? Nope! read more

What a TREAT!! Being a vegetarian who likes "stuff in my salads" moonbowl was incredible! I built my own bowl and added tofu, beyond beef, kimchi and mushrooms on top of the other ingredients and it was such a hearty salad I was full mid salad (but kept eating as it was so good). I ordered via Uber eats and was also impressed with how quick it was! Yes they got the wrong flavour of sparking but the taste of the bowl made up for it! Unfortunately, my meal at moonbowls was underwhelming. I had the spicy avocado bulgogi, which was in no way spicy, and in fact had very little flavor at all-- it was largely bland and indistinguishable mush, even after stirring in the entire container of sauce. The spicy sweet potato potstickers were also unpleasant. The texture & quality of the dough was... off, and while I struggle to put my finger on it, I think it was tough. The actual interior of the potsticker was entirely mush, very clearly a smashed sweet potato, which isn't a great texture, and certainly not a great texture for something with as much kick as these potstickers intend to have. I will not be eating here again. I will also add that the location is, at best, difficult to find, and I felt like I was walking through an alley behind the cars of another business because, well, I was. It truly feels like you're walking through a mini alley to get to the back house of what looks to be a better Korean restaurant. It's a bit unsettling, to be honest-- I was worried I was trespassing behind the other business, but no, that's how you get to moonbowls. I will say that the only employee I interacted with seemed genuine and friendly. I hope he is doing well. I will also say that their website UI is bad, and after signing up for their rewards to try to save some money on the order (almost as much as I spent on the potstickers), and in addition to the emails that many restaurants sent out, they've sent me a TON of texts. It's obnoxious and unhelpful. It makes the place seem desperate. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience that I had been really excited to try. Highly recommend going with the extra protein extra meat for just $3 more. It makes the meal very filling for even large appetite eaters. I love that they do a text and email confirming your time that the order will be completed. This sawtelle location is located inside a ghost kitchen called colony kitchen and most drivers just park along the side where the food pickup signs are for a few minutes to grab their food. They also have a side patio that is pretty popular if you decide to eat there. The food choices and options are great with gluten free and vegan choices and everything taste fresh made and beautifully presented. Cute little tucked away gem on 3rd Street! Moonbowls was recommended to me by a friend and I'm very glad I tried them out. It's a little hard to see them from the street since there is just a chalkboard letting you know you'll need to walk down a narrow pathway between buildings, but once you do you'll be dumped out in front of the kitchen. Their Korean inspired bowls are packed with flavor and are a much healthier than what I normally eat I got the Avocado Bulgogi Bowl and it was great, especially the Bulgogi. I'm not a huge kimchi person so I ate around that but enjoyed all the other elements in the bowl. Still was really good and I would order again. My friend and I didn't realize that they don't have any seating so we hadn't ordered ahead of time, thinking we could sit down somewhere and order. The employee at the window was very helpful though and told us how to order online and that we could get a 20% discount for first time orders (yay!) Ordered here a few times since I work close by and so far I've not been disappointed. Food is always warm and fresh! It's my go-to vegan options for those days I'm trying to be a bit more healthy (because I'm not vegan). I always get the build your own moon bowl so I can have it just the way I want it and don't have to modify the heck out of a menu item. The prices are fair and the food is delish! Normally it's hard for me to find anything actually flavorful in the vegan world, but this place is phenomenal. Will definitely order again and again. Great food, questionable service.. I got hooked on moonbowls after trying it for the first time last week. I've literally gone 3 times this past week. Unfortunately my orders have literally all had issues... The pros: lots of vegan options! Both cauliflower wings are great as well as the impossible dumpling appetizers. I've done the build your own bowl and love the creamy sesame sauce! You don't often see creamy vegan sauces, so love that they have them. Not a pro or con, but it is takeout only! The cons: They have literally made a mistake in every single one of my orders. I'm usually forgiving of missing something here or there, but three times in a row is questionable, especially because this time they forgot two things: the sauce (the most important part!) and avocado (which I paid extra for.) I just tried this place for the first time few days ago, and it did not disappoint. I got the bulgogi bowl, meat was well seasoned without it being too salty or unhealthy feeling. The kimchi and the other veggies complemented the meat very well I look forward to trying all of the other bowls, definitely will be ordering here as a healthy option from here on.
