Steak fingers and country fried steak.
    Jacob P.

If you haven't tried this place give it a shot! On the the outside it doesn't look much but those places are always the best eats. We were immediately greeted by Dee she is the most beautiful soul and told us to sit where ever we liked. She was really the best server and was super tentative someone that actually seemed to enjoy there job. Now let me say I got the country fried steak and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. My fiancée got the steak fingers and that was delicious too. This place has been around for awhile and the cook has been doing this for a very long time and use to cook for Hieberts. And to my surprise as old as the place look and feels everything was super clean most places that look like that you would think everything would be super dirty. Anyways the food was amazing and so was the service I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants an authentic diner experience and amazing food/service. Moongate Cafe reminds me of the old time dinners my Dad used to go to that has lovely staff, good food, cozy atmosphere, and has been around 43 years (for a reason). You will always get an amazing meal quickly and made with love. The owners are really lovely people. It is not a fancy place on the outskirts of town but you will have a hot delicious meal! Give it a try!

    - an out-if-the-way location off 70E, this restaurant is best described as simple, clean and straightforward. Servers are kind and pleasant and food is diner inspired. They've been around awhile with a loyal local crowd.

Those steak fingers! Nothing like it! Really enjoyed our brunch today. Service was phenomenal! My husband grew up here. When we pulled up, I was a little apprehensive, but as others have mentioned, don't judge a book by the cover. When you walk inside, it's charming and welcoming and the food is great! We will definitely be back!

All of our meals were good - and prices were every reasonable too - cost under $60 for 5 people. Very simple breakfast menu options and lunch sandwiches too. Classic hometown place, recommended for a nice quick breakfast spot.

Do not let the outside frighten you! Go in and eat. Get the hot salsa and guac to go with your basket of chips. Then get the steak fingers. Sure, their chicken fried steak is tasty and the Mexican food is too. But you want to get the steak fingers. I am a fan of the green chile queso on them but the wife likes the brown gravy. Ask on your 1st visit to get all the gravies to taste test. It's an honest to goodness diner with dinner rolls and salad with every playe dinner. Yeah they close at 3 daily. So ya gotta get there early. Service is awesone. Place is clean and homey. Go

One of the best breakfasts I had while visiting Las Cruces. High quality ingredients, premium sausage & bacon, homemade southern style biscuits. Friendly waitresses and old country atmosphere.

Don't judge this book by its cover. Owned and operated by the same man since the 80's, this tiny place is the gem you're looking for if you're a "greasy spoon" connoisseur. Green Chile pervades, as it should, because Hatch, NM, home of ALL green chile, is right down the road. The food is good and plentiful (and not a trade of quantity for quality). The waitress is one of those true professionals of the craft. No wasted motion. Efficiency balanced with the right amount of attention and care. All the other customers were regulars greeted by name, and we expect to be joining that crowd. We will be back!

A rustic little place that has a great breakfast! My favorite is the Quesadilla with potato, egg and bacon with green sauce on the side.

We had actually tried out a new place, and were gravely disappointed. Two words, "fake" "meat". So, yeah, with the nastiness of the previous place leaving us yearning for a good burger (other than those from home!), we were in the area after a long day of sports nearby, and decided to grab a couple of burgers. Again, it's not fast food. There were some disappointments, but not deal breakers... 1) The burger patty on my burger was about 2" x 3" It was pretty d TINY!! But...at least it was real meat, lol!! And THAT is what we went there for. The bun? These are homemade and usually very good. The top bun on my burger was hard as a rock. It was either stale to begin with, or microwaved after it was toasted. Not too much of a deal cus I'm low carb anyway, though I had planned on breaking my diet for what I already knew would be a tasty house made bun. So, I wasn't too put off, by having an inedible bun. As it was, the under bun was perfect, and toasted with garlic.... and I DID break my diet for this, which I ate by itself. This bread is tdf! So there's that! Since I planned on breaking my diet anyway, I went ahead and order fries. The fries were not greasy like they used to be years ago. But they didn't seem fresh either, like they were years ago. Not soggy, not bad. I'll let it pass. We don't like seasonings on our fries so we got them "naked", and they were actually pretty good that way. No salt, nothing (though I did, later on pour on some gooey cheese for some nice cheese fries). The burger itself was good. I got the mushroom swiss burger. I'm not so sure that the white goo on my burger was swiss though. I've never seen swiss melt into almost nothing like that before. Perhaps it was grated? Still, never seen gooey almost liquid swiss before. I think it was either "swiss cheese product" (white american cheese), or provolone or something. Would have been nice, like tdf if it had been real swiss cheese. The grilled onions, fresh meat, fresh bottom bun (lol) made this burger. Also, again, I appreciate that they put garnishments on the side. I just ate them straight up, including the giant leaf of lettuce. A good overall meal. So even if Voodoo disappoints in some areas, there's always a treasure somewhere, and it was an enjoyable meal. Take away from this... wish the buns weren't stale or microwaved. Wish the burger patty was a decent size, not slider sized. Wish the swiss cheese was real swiss cheese. Not even gonna say I wish prices were lower, that's a given. My burger with fries was over $15.

The side of beans and refried beans is absolutely delicious, it's amazing to see a restaurant put so much effort into something minor like a side. Barbacoa Tacos, Chicken Enchiladas, and Al Pastor Tacos were absolutely on point. Highly recommend A plus! I tried both the red and green chicken enchiladas and it's a tough choice, because it's like choosing between a million dollars in $100 bills or choosing a million dollars in $50 bills. Both are equally solid! My most recent absolutely fire food order was gone in less than 5 minutes, I devoured the pastor tacos and red Chile chicken enchiladas in less than 10 minutes . Gotta feed the beast with the most delicious food here in Cruces. Thank you to Pajar for fueling my health and nourishing my soul. The tripitas needed a little crispiness, the side of beans needed about another 30 minutes of cooking time and hash browns were also undercooked. The flavor of everything was great but all them were undercooked. It's not enough to make me quit going, but please pay attention. I really like the food here and want them to stay open so please pay attention. Taste your food while you're cooking and all will be well. Especially the tripitas. They are really chewy when you don't cook them long enough. Like said though, the FLAVOR is on point and delicious.
