Good food. Fast and polite service. Remodeled building a huge improvement. Only downside: waitstaff should NEVER ask if you want change back from a cash payment. This flaw is not unique to this business but part of the overall decline of our "service" economy. read more

Walked in and waited to be seated. Bartender 10 ft away completely ignored us as we stood there for 10 minutes. Waitress walked by and also ignored us. She looked really frazzled. We were never spoken too and eventually just left. read more

You could sit inside in a hip, funky atmosphere with low & high top tables or outside on their sizable patio, complete with outdoor foosball and bags boards to play. Went there for lunch and had our choice of seating. It was sunny weather and sitting inside when they have the large doors opened up was perfect. You get the outdoor feel, but everyone gets to stay in the shade. Pizza was really good too. No complaints at all. read more

Without a doubt the best pizza in Salida! Consistently good! We love the Cosmic Hawaiian pizza - this has the Canadian bacon and pineapple with bbq sauce, jalapeno peppers, and cream cheese on a large wonderful homemade medium thick crust. The bbq sauce is not too sweet and is surprisingly harmonious with the toppings. I like a good value and for 16 dollars you get a large 16" pie. Moonlight's owners donate 10% of their sales every Monday to a local worthy organization and they believe in Community, keeping a small footprint and encourage not only recycling, but not using straws or coasters in the first place, things which would end up in the landfill. I have had occasion to try many other pizzas on the menu, and they are all excellent, but will keep coming back for my favorite Cosmic Hawaiian! The seating is somewhat limited inside, but we normally get take-out. The home brewed beer and sodas are excellent as well. read more

Amicas down the street didnt open as early as moonlight so we gave it a shot. Ordered the IPA and was disappointed by a beer that was obviously in the keg too long. I ordered a munich after that which was much better. We ordered our pizza which came 45 minutes later....wow that was long. Pizza was pretty good 3.5 out of 5 stars there. When we travel to Salida, several times per year, we go to Moonlight. They have recently remodeled so it's even better. The pizza is delicious and so are salads and sandwiches. I usually get the spinach salad with chicken and the rest of my family gets either the pizza or sandwiches (which I must admit I sneak bites of!!). Moonlight is a good, fun place for a casual dinner and good for families. read more

Best, I mean THE BEST pizza joint in Salida, hands down! The Mirkwood Chicken pie is outstanding. Couple that with their IPA, and you've got a real winner. Definitely some amazing and unique pizza. I have eaten here probably 10 times. I like every pie here, except the Venus, which is a veggie pizza. My favorite pizza is the Cosmic Hawaiian which I always get with jalapeños and creme cheese. It is the perfect spicy and sweet combo. YES!! read more

You know how some places make you feel like you've put them out when you walk in just before closing? Not here! We questioned whether we should go in at 15 minutes before closing, but did it anyway thinking we could just get some pizza to go... This is some of the best pizza I've ever had. We drive an hour at least once a month to eat it! We always get the cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer, it's amazing. They make their own sodas (give the cream soda a try!) and have an interesting assortment of draft beers. They sell growlers so you can take home your favorite soda or beer. Returning customers leaving frustrated. While we love the atmosphere and food, our recent experience deterred the likelihood of our return. We arrived at 4pm (prior to the anticipated rush that would ensue when the local beer festival let out at 5pm) and there were several tables open at this time. We placed our order within 15 minutes of our arrival and our beers and appetizers arrived within an acceptable amount of time, but we did not receive our pizza until after 5:30 (75 minutes after we placed our order). Furthermore, several tables arrived after us and still received their food before we did. Having several years of experience in the restaurant industry, I understand that things happen. However, what soured me on this experience was the lack of acknowledgement of our ticket time, not the fact that no concessions were offered (which there were none). For management purposes, this date of service was 7/8/17 and this was order 1515. My ultimate frustration lies in the fact that clearly some mistake was made, which is forgivable and understandable, yet none of the staff had the decency to recognize this. read more
