Had a Bissell bagless unit that had a hose break that was in a weird spot my husband and I could not fix so I found this place on yelp. Dan the owner clearly knows his stuff and even though his not overly warm he's knowledgeable and honest ( great business owner qualities these days right?) He mostly caters to bag vacuums but he still worked with me tin repair mine. He took my unto in the back and found a way to repair it for me right then. He did stop to help another customer midway but that was no problem for me to slow down and wait. $30 later I have a working vacuum and a new go to place for service needs. Was experiencing an issue where my vacuum was turned on it's stopping immediately after I knew what the various brands the shop sold. They have experience with Maen. It's been around a long time and I've seen it when I used to be in that area, so it came to mine to go back to them even though I live a good 30 minutes away. All I can say is -- exceptional service was received. Dan sensed that I wanted my vacuum back, I made no mention of it, but just asked when it would be ready. He called me within three days and had my vacuum ready. He also gave an extra part to me as he mentioned he had it laying around! Dan is kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. My vacuum has not sounded and performed this good since new (17 years ago?) it's still in exceptional shape. I routinely take it apart and clean out the areas by the roller and so forth, but this is next level!! I will continue to patronize the shop for all my needs in relation to my vacuum. Do yourself a favor and go there if you are looking for a good vacuum or in need of vacuum service. I walked in with my Bissell vacuum cleaner, not working and left not too much longer later with it fixed, a used replacement spinning brush installed, and for a very reasonable price. highly recommend! Late on a Friday, I needed an Oreck XL repair. Found Dan at Moonlite Vacuums. I asked if he's located where the Moonlite bowling alley used to be. He said yes, so I knew instantly where he was located. He diagnosed the problem over the phone and said he could fix it while I waited. This was shocking because he was about to close. Dan, who owns this shop is a great guy. He is an expert on vacuums - refurbished ones, servicing, new ones. I like to give him my business and keep these local shops around. Dan is very knowledgeable about vacuum cleaners. This is so useful when you have a problem with your pricey vacuum you bought at Costco and need to fix it. Vacuum bags are also sold here, saving you the bother of searching for them online and risking the wrong bag purchase. I get all my vacuum bags here. This store sells sewing machines too, and services some of them. What a joy to have this resource close to home with a knowledgeable service person and a variety of appliances to choose from including bags and sewing parts. Visit-1: I take my Dyson upright in for a new cord plug because one prong is suddenly way shorter than the other. Visit-2: I bring my Dyson home, after paying $89.50 for the repair. Moonlite also replaced some part they felt was broken, replaced my motor with a used one they had in the shop, and cleaned the filters and tank thoroughly, all at no additional charge. Visit-3: I try vacuuming with my very fragrant-smelling Dyson. After about 3 rooms of vacuuming, it suddenly made a very different quality of air sound, like it had sucked up something it shouldn't have. It then quit moving forward. So, I took it back to Moonlite. The gentleman with whom I had been dealing discovered that the filter inside the roller ball was loose. He pushed it in until it clicked into place and sent me on my way. Visit-4: I try vacuuming again. The motor cuts out a couple of times, but I manage to get the vacuum restarted and continue. Then, while vacuuming the fourth room, there is suddenly a very different quality of air sound, and it quits rolling forward again! I took the vacuum back to Moonlite AGAIN, and asked for either my money back OR them to repair and deliver it. The gentleman with whom I had been dealing gave me back my money and apologized for all the trouble I'd had. (Otherwise, this would have been a 1-star review!) CONCLUSION: I've made FOUR trips to Moonlite Vacuum, from which I've achieved a new working plug and a couple much more serious problems that weren't present before! I'm guessing it will cost me a lot more than $89.50 to get some other shop to fix whatever Moonlite broke.... read more

I went to Moonlite Vacuum and Sewing because my wife's seeing machine was not working. Dan gave me an estimate and the possible time when the machine is going to be done. It was done be the next day. The machine only needed maintenance and he did a test run on the machine and showed me the stitches the machine made. I feel comfortable recommending Moonlite to anyone who needs their sewing machine repaired. Knowing that my wife's machine needs yearly maintenance. Took about 15 minutes. A little higher prices ice for the service (or more in depth cleaning of the brush, installation of a new belt). But belt and bags were about the same. Out the door for $35. If you own a vacuum cleaner or a sewing machine, or want to purchase one and you live anywhere near Santa Clara and you don't go here, well then you are crazy. These people are the salt of the earth of vacuums and sewing machines. It is totally old school, the kind of place that has not changed for decades. All the people that work here are experts in what they do. They have no interest in trying to scam you, they will tell you the truth and recommend only what is needed. My mom purchased a Panasonic vacuum here over 15 years ago on their recommendation and it has worked like a dream since then with an occasional tune up by these nice people. They also serviced our sewing machine and got it right back on track. They only carry the type of products that they know are well made and worth the investment. We bought a few of the regular grade vacuums from Sears (Eureka, Hoover) before we found Moonlight, only to have them break down very quickly. Our last experience with them was a switch replacement for our Panasonic. When we mentioned that they had tuned it up recently, they remembered and told us they would only charge us $25 for the repair. This kind of service just doesn't happen with big chain type of places. Highly Recommended for repairs or maintenance I saw the nice reviews and decided to call Moonlite. Dan answered the phone. My Kirby 5G has a kinked power cord and would cut out. So I asked him how much would it cost to replace the cord. He said he may be able to repair the cord and save me the $40 replacement cord. Right then I decided this is the right place. I am a handy person and have all the tools necessary, I have no doubt that I can fix it myself. But because Dan has the same mindset that I have, I decided to take it to him. Like the other two Yelpers have said, this place is more of a get in, get out type place. I needed sewing needles for my machine and this place is within walking distance. They're got your basic sewing stuff. Not only did I get a set of needles and a set of ballpoint needles, I picked up a seam ripper and a tomato pincushion. I've been going here since 1985. I bought several vacuum cleaners and a ton of bags! I brought my Hoover Max Extract Steam Vac in yesterday because the brushes weren't spinning. I did a Google search to see if I could troubleshoot the problem but I wasn't able to fix it. When I took it in to Moonlight I figured I would drop it off and hopefully pick it up the next day. They took a look at it right away and let me know that the turbine that turns the brushes was broken. It would take a few days to get a new one and repair it but after some discussion about cost of repair versus buying one of their floor models, I decided to do the latter. The price was right and I could continue with my cleaning project! While I was waiting for the guy to check out my old steamvac, I sat with the owner and talked about how business was going. He doesn't see as many vacuums as he used to but his repair business is keeping him and his son very busy. Referencing a rant I did last year about how repair shops used to be the biz in the valley. No kidding, right? I mean, they're still here, albeit not as much as they used to be. Moonlite Vaccum & Sewing is a throwback to that era. A regular stop back in the day when my parents needed a filter for their Silverking vaccuum. It used to crack me up because the filter sorta looked like an overgrown communion wafer. Silverkings were the biz too. This old school vac and drag looked like R2D2 and seemed to be a favorite among Filipino households. Rolling up on a recent visit and inquiring about trade-ins (they do!), me and the owner reminised a bit of the past and both parted with acknowlelgement of making one's day. I needed the hose I purchased from Amazon installed, which Dan gladly agreed to do while I waited. When I saw how clean and professional the shop was, I asked him to do a complete tune up and clean up. At first he asked me to return in a few days but agreed to have it done later that same afternoon per my request. He did a complete job, even detailing the outside of the machine. I have small janitorial business and we needed to buy new vacuums for our employees. I saw this place's Yelp review and called them. The owner Dan explained to me exactly what I needed for the business I'm in. I called right at closing but he said he would stay open an extra hour for me to come down and take a look at his vacuums. Upon arriving he was waiting for me and walked me through all the models of vacuums and gave me his recommendation for the best vacuums for the type of business I was in. The vacuums were strong, lightweight, and extremely durable. He also walked me through how to keep them operatiing for many years with littlest of maintanence. He also threw in some free bags and didn't charge me for extra accessories. I walked out of the store with 4 new vacuums and have been back since to buy 2 more. Not only did this man keep his store open for me for an extra hour but he also was in no rush and took the time to educate me on each vacuum and recommend the exact one needed for my business. Got to meet Dan and his dad (?) who you can tell are very kind and honest folks. They offer some vacuums and sewing machines for sale and also do repairs. They have a small assortment of sewing notions for sale and I will definitely be back for these! I saw Schmetz and Singer sewing needles, Maxi lock thread, smaller spools of thread, seam rippers, bobbin cases, a variety of presser feet and more. I brought my Bissell vacuum in because the brush 'melted'. They have seen it before and they happened to have an almost brand new brush they sold to me for less than half price! I got a belt and they put it together for me right there! All for less than $20! My friend will be bringing his sewing machine in next to get it overhauled! These guys are great! So far, yeah I'm a fan. They sold me the most expensive vacuum I've ever had the delight to own. On the other hand, it's cheaper than a BMW. Performs like a BMW tho. Silly thing is eerily quiet yet will suck up the tail off my dog. Who is none to happy to have this silent demon cleaning in his path. This was my first time to Moonlite. It appears to be a wife and husband owned shop. Very calm and peaceful atmosphere. They sell/fix vacuum cleaners and sewing machines. Both husband and wife are super friendly. I brought my Kirby vacuum which was a mess. The husband figured out the problem right away while I chatted with the wife. He was very caring about my vacuum and explained how I could avoid the problem in the future, and how to operate it. He even helped me to carry the heavy vacuum cleaner to my car!
