Decided to try this restaurant out because some of our friends recommended it. It didn't disappoint. We were dressed casual and went at about 6 pm on a Monday night. It was not busy which made me a little nervous but hey, it was a Monday. So happy we came to try it out. The hostess was friendly and sat us in a nice booth. Our server was a nice gentleman who asked if we had been before. When we told him we haven't been, he went into detail of all their specials and what was offered. Very friendly. We didn't get the 2 for $50 deal and decided on soup, salads and each got our own steak. Everything was delicious and cooked exactly how we liked. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so we had steak and some of our sides left over. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you haven't been! They are now open again. My husband took me to Avi Hotel and Casino for my birthday. The dining choices were limited inside the hotel and since it was a special occasion we chose Moonshadow. It was fantastic. It was actually a great price for the quality of the food, the attention of the staff, and the presentation of the meal. Had the two for $50 deal. 2 Ribeyes, 2 soups or salads, 2 glasses of wine, and 2 desserts?! Yes please! I was so excited to have the ribeye.... And then it arrived. About 1/8" thick (granted, it was about 10 inches wide), tasteless, and covered in herbed butter....id give it Denny's caliber. I haven't had to use A1 steak sauce with my steak for many many MANY eons, but I just couldn't get through this dinner without it. I would've rather had a ribeye half the size but way thicker .... just how a ribeye is supposed to be Disappointing, obviously. The best part of this prefix dinner was the wine. Ordered the lemon cake and it was as dry as sandpaper. Should've saved 20 bucks and went to in-n-out down the street instead. read more

We came here to kill some time before going to an event at the Avi hotel. We didn't think we had enough time to eat but we gave it a try ! I'm glad we did because this steakhouse was wonderful! They started us off with some fresh breads that were served on a cutting board. The breads came with a whipped butter. It was delicious! When the waiter came by with our salads . They served it a little different than what I'm used to. Instead of the salads being brought out premade they came out with different toppings that come in these silver bowls. Then you would tell the waiter what you want and they will add it to your plate. I had the steak with mashed potatoes for my entree. The steak was perfect it melted in your mouth! The mashed potatoes were creamy. Unfortunately we didn't have time for dessert but before we left the waiter made me a rose out of tin foil. I thought that was really sweet! The waiter was very attentive and went the extra mile to provide excellent customer service! I had such a great experience I wouldn't mind making a special trip to Laughlin to eat here! read more

My husband and myself along with my 2 years old daughter went here tonight and at first it was all good I already knew that this place wasn't good for kids but she usually only wants to eat what we are so problem solved we can share with her. My husband ordered the Shrimp scampi ( had to order a side of noddles since it doesn't come with it ) I order the porter house with garlic mash. Took forever for us to get our food and it wasn't a busy night. Finally when we finally got our good the garlic mash had to garlic what so ever in it it was very bland I had to add salt and pepper to give it some flavor. And the steak was very tuff and also lacked flavor. I little salt and pepper goes a long way! Needles to say it was no where near worth spending 37 dollars on it. Now my husband shrimp scampi was also lacking in flavor, the shrimp was over cooked and the sauce twisted like lemon water. He couldn't even finish it it was so bad. We waited over 20 mins for a different server from another table to ask is if we wanted the check. While our actual waitress at just kept walking past us. We came again last night and it was just as delicious. Well, mine was. My boyfriend didn't enjoy his as much as the first time, but we still found both steaks cooked very well and tasty. We ordered the same meal as last time, filet and ribeye, except this time we tried the variety of bread as an appetizer, which were all incredibly fresh. Our server did an amazing job with the flambé of my lobster bisque, and it was one of the tastiest I've ever had. As far as consistency, flavor, and service, in my onion this place is wonderful! We will definitely be returning before our stay is up at the end of the week and highly recommend to anyone looking for quality, delicious food at a very reasonable price! read more

This has gone down hill beyond belief! Went with my s/o tonight for a romantic dinner and my prime rib had so much fat and gristle, the provided steak knife could hardly cut through it. Asparagus was "chefs choice " veg, it was burnt through (all 3 pieces). Bf ordered a filet mignon and ordered it medium, while it came blue rare. Prime rib and filet mignon crab cake appetizers and 2 beers ans 2 sodas 132$ not worth it by any means. Next time will spend less money for a far better meal at the Laughlin ranch. read more

Went here for date night while on vacation at the Avi. It was a Tuesday night and fairly slow - service was friendly and food was pretty good. I even ordered a filet minon well done and didnt get any weird looks from the waiter! This place is unexpectedly my favorite place to eat in Laughlin. Hands down, delicious gourmet food with exceptional servers. My husband and I usually get the two for $50 dinner special which includes a glass of wine, soup or salad, entree and dessert for each person-yes, each person gets their own dessert! The sizzling ribeye is simply buttery and tender over the hot pan. We've tried the salmon and pork chops as well and, believe me, you won't be disappointed with anything. So disappointing. I took my husband for his birthday dinner expecting a fine dining experience based on their pricing but the food was horrible for prime rib and Filet Mignon. Pretty much everyone who has been to all the Laughlin buffets universally agree that Harrah's has the best buffet in town, and I agree as well. But there is one exception, Moonshadow Grille's Sunday Brunch Buffet. It's a bit pricey when you compare it to other buffets prices, but believe me, it is worth every penny. Hidden gem! Not much advertised around the hotel. We went for the Sunday brunch and wow! Were seated quickly and right away someone is there to serve your OJ and champagne. And they leave the bottle on the table. They have a huge assortment of options with the standard eggs. ......... but also crab legs, steak, frog legs, escargot, all the fancy stuff! This is a must if staying at the AVI Resort. There were six of us adults and two toddlers, I was worried about paying for the toddlers since they don't eat much but without asking we were not charged for them, Score! Be careful with the all you can drink champagne, it really is, we had about six bottles and not once was anyone rude about the champagne that kept flowing at our table. read more

I have to say, I've been here before and the food was excellent. However, we went for my birthday last night and the best part of my meal was the dessert at the end of dinner, an Andes mint. The salmon was extremely over cooked, the steak had zero flavor with a packet of beef gravy poured over top, and the garlic mashed potatoes had so much garlic in them that's literally all you could taste. It was cafe food at best for the price of a gourmet restaurant. Definitely not worth the money or the wait. read more

Went here on a Saturday night at 8:00 pm. This was the earliest reservation that they had when we made it at 4:00 pm. They were already out or prime rib and 4 of us ordered filet migon medium rare. All 4 were way over cooked and we told the waiter and he didn't seem to care. Our dog will appreciate the 4 overcooked stakes that we took home to him. They are in mornay sauce which is absolutely delicious. Then we had salad and the seafood soup. Their ranch is super yummy and the seafood soup was hearty and delicious. We both got filet mignon. This was an EXCELLENT place for a nice quiet dinner. The feel was clean, quiet and romantic. The service was great. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time. Really gone downhill. To start, we sat for 1-1/2 hours before getting our meals. It was so long between waiter visits, we forgot what he looked like. When my Filet Mignon is over cooked, and cold, and the manager says it wasn't and that in the light of the kitchen it "was still a little pink", it's time to find a new place to eat a nice meal. We were introduced to MoonShadow Grille about 3 years ago by some friends of ours. We've been back about 5 times now as the budget allows. My medical bills are phenomenal. Whenever anyone asks whats your favorite place, or where would you like to go eat, I always say MoonShadow, and my husband is quick to agree. The food and service is impeccable and a relaxing beautiful atmosphere. I'd go every week if I could. This weekend we'll be bringing our son for his birthday dinner. Excellent service! Everything else was horrible!!!!! The place was nearly empty and we where sat next to two annoying couples. We where introduced to our waiter and server and the immediately brought bread (good sourdough rolls horrible corn bread and even worse raisin walnut bread) we chose an appetizer of south western spring roll, ($13.50 two rolls) it was supposed to be chicken and pepper jack cheese in fried wrap and some spicy dipping sauce it's really just goo in a soggy wrap and some sweet and gross sauce that left a bad taste in my mouth. Ordered a chicken Caesar salad and the halibut with sea food crust that came with side salad and baked potato Side salad had rotten lettuce in it (brown and black pieces not just edges) baked potato was OLD like it had to have been baked before lunch old (this was 6pm) for the halibut was over cooked and hard to cut or chew the seafood description made it sound like it was shrimp crab and cheese coating on the halibut but it was just a gooey greasy patty of grossness ontop of the inedible halibut The Caesar salad dressing might have been good ontop of the old chicken but as you might have guessed that lettuce was also beyond wilted with black and brown bits mixed in throughout This horrible meal with one glass of wine was $75.00, the waiter apologized and asked if we wanted to speak to a manager but I don't think they care about the quality of food they are putting out because obviously no one has looked over the kitchen for a while. We paid our bill and left, I feel sorry the great wait staff has to work in such a lousy place Please do not waste your time or money on this place!!! Wow, dining at it's finest here. Received excellent service by everyone here, especially from Jeff, our waiter. I asked him for recommendations and ended up ordering the soup, which I never order. It was a clam chowder style soup with four or more fish in it. Creamy, flavorful and almost a meal in itself. Both my husband and I had soup and he was just as pleased. It was also recommended to me, the crab cake topped halibut. I have never tasted halibut like that. So delicious w/ the four cheese mac and cheese. My boyfriend and I came here tonight and experienced excellent service and delicious food. We took advantage of the 2 for $50 special and each received a glass of wine, a choice of soup or salad, a full entree (choosing from several options), and a dessert. I ordered their Chicken Cordon Bleu soup and it was amazing. The ribeye was also exceptional along with the brownie. What really knocked my socks off was the service. We witnessed a table of folks next to us who were unfairly dissatisfied with their most likely excellent meal and were giving the waiting staff a rough time. The waiter and manager gracefully handled the situation and did way they could to ensure that their guests left satisfied. Overall I was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant. Dinner at Moonshadow was very good. We had the early bird dinners, which were more than enough food for each of us, without ordering any additional appetizers or other stuff. The quality of the food is high. Fresh nice Caesar salad for me, and a great spring mix in her salad as well. The main plate was just right my fettucini alfredo was creamy and done just right. Annette spoke highly of her salmon. The desert added on top was almost too much, boy was I full and happy. You want to be patient, as although the Casino operates at top speed, this is a place for a casual dinner with long conversations and looking into each others eyes lovingly over a great meal. I gave two stars because my husband loved his salmon, we had water the whole time, never an empty glass or an empty bread basket. However, my steak was dry, I ordered the filet, my brother in law had the rib eye and his was at least 1/3 just fat, someone else received their meal but had to wait 20 mins for his fries. We waited for over an hour for our food, then 20 mins for the waitress to bring us our check after we asked for it. It was far from fine dining. We will stay at the avi but we will not come back to their steakhouse, sabarro's in the food court is a better bet, more efficient staff too. read more

This restaurant is really a hidden treasure. We come to the Avi about once a month and decided to try the Moonshadow Grille when we got sick of the Panda Express and Subway that is in the hotel. Wow! What a great restaurant. Everything from the bread to the soup to the delicious entrees and dessert are really high quality. I haven't yet had an entree or appetizer that I didn't love. I tried the Moon Shadow about a week ago. The waitress was very friendly and helpful BUT the food was disappointing. I ordered the ribeye steak for $37, which the menu represents to come with sautéed mushrooms. There was literally one small mushroom, cut into 4 quarters, on top and the whole thing was covered in a lackluster dark gravy/sauce. I also ordered a Cosmopolitan cocktail that was undrinkable...turns out it was made with vermouth instead of triple sec (or any other orange liqueur). Nice people working the floor, but I would not eat there again :( read more
