    Classic Shrimp with Lobster Sauce
    Cheryl M.

I found this business looking for a place to take my husband for his birthday. The decor is really nice, the bar is on the right when you walk in, the tables are centered in the middle and a little close together. The tables for larger parties are on the outside. We ordered the soup for two which was really good with shrimp, chicken and various other stuff in a tasty broth. Appetizers: Shrimp toast which I didn't care for, no taste of shrimp anywhere Salt n pepper Calamari was good and not chewy Entree: Shrimp n Lobster Sauce was really good and taste fresh Pork Tenderloin, it was fried and had a good flavored sauce but, the pork was so thin , you didn't taste pork. Mongolian Beef was a little bland The service was on point

We were in the area again and made sure to stop in for another great meal. Lots of gluten free options. Top notch service. Wish we lived closer!

1/11/25. Generally, I am leery of Asian fusion places but I have to say I was quite happy here! The inside is very modern with a large bar. Irma was a friendly attentive bartender. However, it should be noted that every drink is EXACTLY measured so the drinks are very weak, imo. The sushi (clam, fluke, tuna and scallop) ordered was extremely fresh. The branzino (with ginger and scallion sauce) and crunchy seafood fried rice were very tasty. Not oily at all! Ended with really good pistachio ice cream. Just wish it was the pistachio ice cream with cherries that some Asian places have. I'd def return.

Moonstone had a solid lunch menu! For the price, you definitely get a quality meal with attentive service. Since parking can be difficult around the area, it was nice that there were plenty of spots in their parking lot. I started off with a spicy tuna roll and the seafood tasted fresh. For my entree, I got the Moonstone Three Treasures and was impressed with the portion size. It came with a lot of meat and vegetables. The sauce was just a bit too heavy/salty for me but overall it is a good place for a more upscale meal. I would totally return to try their dinner menu!

We had dinner with my parents at this upscale modern Chinese restaurant that used to be East Buffet. The ambiance was a much elevated version of what the buffet set looked like. Prices were pretty high. However, it was worth it. We ordered a bunch of dishes. My husband ordered the four course meal, which was $65, only served Monday thru Thursday. The prix fixe menu had stipulations where sharing was not allowed, but that was impossible because portions were huge except for the key lime pie. My husband enjoyed the wonton soup, scallion pancakes, salmon teriyaki, and key lime pie. The sauce of the salmon teriyaki was great. Salmon teriyaki, key lime pie, and scallion pancake are highly recommended. My dad and I shared the half Peking duck. This dish was served tableside as my dad calls it Hong Kong style from the crepe to the duck preparation and presentation. My mom ordered the salmon with mushroom sauce, which was standard. I also ordered the shrimp and walnut, and omg, the shrimp was HUGE. This dish is worth ordering, too. I'll definitely be back to explore the 4-course prix fixe menu.

Chinese restaurants around NYC/surrounding suburbs are everywhere, but it's hard to find ones that are of a high caliber. So when you do, it's a joyous occasion. Enter Moonstone, a newer Chinese restaurant (opened within the last 2-3 years). Technically in Queens, it sits on northern boulevard just on the border of great neck. Over the last year, we ordered take out 8-10 times. There was not a single time where the experience wasn't great. From top to bottom, it's high quality Chinese food that rivals any high end Chinese spot (Mr Chows, Shun Lee, Hunan Taste etc). Whatever appetizer you want, from their egg rolls to soups to ribs, they're top notch. Their mains are all excellent and the ingredients are noticeably better than a typical Chinese place (i.e. their beef is actually beef, their chicken resembles real white meat chicken, their shrimp seems fresh and juicier than the norm, etc). If you're ordering take out, you're in for an additional treat in that their to-go operation is as good as it gets. Walk in and you will see a table of 10+ to-go bags, neatly packaged and organized with an attentive team servicing to go patrons. Many may not care about this detail, but attention to the little things matters, and opening a to-go order that is thoughtfully packaged and always perfect, says a lot about a restaurants commitment to excellence. Last night we ate there for the first time, which prompted this review. The restaurant itself is upscale, clean and offers good vibes. In short -- not what you'd expect from a typical Chinese restaurant. They've actually focused on ambiance and created a really nice environment to dine. The service is great too -- really kind and attentive staff. Overall, there really is not a single thing I'd change about this place. Kudos to being a standout establishment in a field full of mediocre options

Came here a few times, the food is pretty good. We ordered a few sushi rolls and mostly order the Chinese food from here. The service is good and very helpful. The ambiance is very upscale and luxurious for Asian fusion spot.

    Vegetarian Hot and Sour Soup

A little pricy but fabulous Asian fusion food. Elegant indoor space and great attentive service. I thoroughly enjoyed the best hot and sour soup I have ever tasted, which was vegetarian. The spicy scallop dish was tender and scrumptious. Menu is very diverse.

They can't even get Spicy Tuna with Avocado right. Disappointing!

I order from Moonstone and request delivery. The order is generally wrong and it takes a full hour at minimum to get your order. They require $45 minimum to get delivery. You spending ENOUGH money why can't moonstone get your food right and under 30 minutes. Ridiculous and disappointing

Nice decor and prompt service. Ordered the halibut clay pot and it was delicious. Tom yum Soup was very good. Will be back to try more!

Unexpectedly Amazing! Came here to celebrate Mother's Day with my family and it was absolutely an amazing experience. The ambience was exquisite! The staff here was extremely well attentive, friendly and always happy to aid us in our needs. The drinks are delicious, with the food being tasty! I will say, the food is served in very large portions that came be shared with 2 people. We did not know that and ended up having take aways! But we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and experience! Mom loved it! Will return!

Great local restaurant with an extensive menu, waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the rock shrimp, sushi rolls, lamb chops, Mongolian beef, & lo mein. Everything was delicious, shareable portions. Beautiful decor, perfect for date night. We had a reservation but didn't seem necessary, was seated right away. Parking lot available.

What a lovely restaurant! Are there private rooms for families?

There are no private rooms for families, but I have seen them set up areas for large parties before. It is semi-private.

Do I need to make a reservation for this Saturday before Mother's Day?

Hi Wendy, Thank You for inquiring. Reservation is always suggested for all Saturdays especially the day before Mother's Day.

Every piece is so unbelievably fresh that you develop a level of trust that's hard to find anywhere else. After eating here, most sushi just doesn't compare. The salmon, in particular, is unreal. It practically melts in your mouth like butter, and you can tell every piece is prepared with an incredible amount of care. I'm not exaggerating when I say you haven't truly experienced salmon sushi until you've had it at Torigo. What I love most is that it feels authentic. It's been a while since I've returned so when I was given a choice, this was and still is, my go to place when I'm nearby. This visit - lots of sushi on my mind. I ordered the chirashi bowl as my entree and a la carte, sea urchin sushi. Today the Hokaiddo uni was available so I splurged and got it. The California uni was available too but given the option, Hokaiddo is the way to go! The Chirashi is a beautiful bowl of fresh sushi - given my allergy to shrimp, I asked for a substitute piece of fish. They accommodated without an issue. The tuna, salmon, and mackerel was outstanding - so fresh! The octopus, yellowtail and tamago were perfect. I enjoyed this very much... Couldn't finish the rice. The bowl is a great deal and value. For starters, my friend and I enjoyed the lightly fried soft shell crab. It was simply divine - great crunch and a soft shell indeed. The optional scallion and dipping sauce isn't really needed but available. So good! It was super fresh. My friend ordered the Black Cod Bento box. Rice bowl comes on the side. These bento boxes are the best deal: comes with gyoza, fried tofu, edamame seaweed salad, wasabi salt, cucumber salad, both shrimp and vegetable tempura (even eggplant!) and the cod was sitting on top of some sauteed string beans. Both of our dinners came with a choice of house salad or miso soup. I recommended the salad because the dressing is fantastic here - citrusy and light ginger I think, with a bright orange color appeal. The complimentary noodles as a palate starter was also fantastic. There is a parking lot in the rear but I've often found spots easily on the street (metered parking but free after 7pm on the weekdays).

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience!…read more We celebrated the 4th of July with an incredible omakase dinner at Masaki, and it exceeded every expectation. Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to explain every course, the origin of the fish, the flavors, and the best way to enjoy each piece. His passion for his craft was evident, and his attention to detail made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Dining at the sushi bar gave us a front-row seat to watch the artistry behind every piece. The quality of the ingredients, the precision of the preparation, and the genuine hospitality made this one of the finest omakase experiences we've ever had. The space was very open and the ambience was chic. This is a great place for date night, mommy night out, or group hangouts as they have private rooms too. Every piece tasted very fresh and were quite unique. The steam silky egg appetizer with crabmeat and fish roe was simple yet delicious. One of the dishes was an uni toro roll that was placed on top of our hands and was sprayed with edible gold glitter on us. That was a surprise and it was cute. And that uni just melts in your mouth. We had this matcha pudding with I think had an Oreo sprinkle in it was fabulous. They also surprised us with an extra dessert cause it was all 3 of our birthdays. Very enjoyable experience. Our sushi chef was very accommodating and made our birthday dinner memorable. We originally started out with the summer special of $78pp for a 12 course meal and decided to upgrade to the 14 course meal for $98pp. There was an option for a 17 course meal for $138pp but we were very full towards the end. They also had this $30 lunch and $60 dinner 3 course meal set for restaurant week. My friend's mom wasn't a fan of raw stuff so she ordered the Chilean sea bass with risotto and she wasn't a huge fan of it. The fish was a tad overcooked and the overall presentation of the dish looked more of a Chinese fusion dish. The risotto had that cheesy flavor but the presentation with the Bok Choy and the risotto looked more like fried rice and was confusing. I would stick with the omakase, which this place is known for.

The kani salad, unfortunately, wasn't my favorite. I usually expect yum-yum sauce to already be mixed into kani salad, but it wasn't, so I ended up adding some sauce I had at home, which definitely made it better for me. The service was good. The young lady who helped me was very nice and pleasant. The restaurant itself was very clean. It's a small space with a long, narrow kind of layout, but it still works for what it is. I'd come back for the salmon fried rice, and I'd probably try a few other things on the menu.
