Sadly with all this 'rona stuff happening, most of my fave Chinese food spots are closed till further notice so I was really happy, as well as my kids, to see that Moonstone was opened for curbside, take out and delivery till 9pm! Ordered through seamless and the transaction was easy and painless. I called once I got into their parking lot and someone ran it out to me, masked and gloved, who also greeted me warmly by name, placed it in my car and I was on my way back as fast as I arrived! Everything was packaged beautifully with enough extra sauce and fortune cookies and almond cookies to go around twice! Loved their beef with stringbeans:the beef were huge pieces too! Their sesame chicken which I usually find as a throw away dish lol, was crunchy with a delicious sauce that I could not get enough of and usually I only have one piece. Their prawns in spicy garlic sauce is actually very spicy and well prepared without crazy amounts of filler veggies in it. Their moonstone lomein again was delicious with a abundant amount of beef in it too. I loved that they offered an unique sauteed mixed veggies optioned asparagus and bamboo shoots in a light sauce. Prices were much higher than I usually pay for Chinese take out however I cannot wait to get back here and actually eat IN the restaurant once all this is behind us! A pretty restaurant reminiscent of Las Vegas. The pros include a parking lot and ambience suitable for date night. The food was good, but not worth the price. We stopped in for a late snack of 3 appetizers, (2 orders of fried dumplings and chicken lettuce wrap). The chicken lettuce wrap came with exactly 4 lettuce caps. When we asked for more lettuce being that more than half of the chicken was still left, they wanted to charge us $1.50 for each additional piece of lettuce. Very clean, upscale Asian restaurant serving both Japanese and Chinese cuisines. Large room with a beautiful bar area, various open seating and separate areas off to the side as well. The bathroom was very clean and never got messy. The service was top notch, he was always checking in with us to make sure we had drinks and refilling the water. I noticed Moonstone for the first time today while totally exhausted from Northern Boulevard traffic and a hike along the Ravine Trail overlooking Hempstead Harbor . I came here with my wife and baby daughter to celebrate our anniversary on a Tuesday evening around 6:30pm. The restaurant was not crowded and as we entered, all the staff members st the restaurant greeted us. At the time we entered there were about 3 tables that were occupied and after we sat down an additional 2 tables were seated. As we were seated, there was the hostess and waiting staff, my wife and I requested we get a highchair for our baby, and they acknowledged our request and said okay. A few minutes go by and still no highchair, eventually whom seemed to be our waiter was consistently assisting us and we then asked him for a highchair and he immediately brought it. I felt like they could have improved in this area. If you're going to agree in bringing a highchair, you should follow through and do it. Another thing is, the waiter never introduced himself by name or let alone say he will be the one assisting us that night. I feel if they had done all of the above, the experience and my review would have definitely been 5 stars. The waiter was very attentive and came by very often. Overall, I would say this was a 4.5 star experience. We ordered the 4 course meal which costs $48 per person before tip and tax. I have to say although a bit on the pricier side, the food was very tasty. I have to say that hot and sour, although typically found at a Chinese takeout restaurant, this was the best hot and sour soup my wife and I have ever eaten. The appetizer my wife got was the duck spring roll and she loved it, I had a tiny bite and it was something I would have loved too. I had the seared tuna for my appetizer and it was pretty good. Both entrees that we ordered, happy moonstone family and sizzling mandarin paradox were so tasty, the meat was hot and tender, the flavor was flooding my tastebuds with happiness. My grandparents, my parents and I went to moonstone the other night. We walk in and the environment is nice. We were greeted to our table. Our waitress was patient with our orders and the food came out promptly. The biggest issues I had here was that the menu was exceedingly expensive for what the food was. Miso soup $5, Egg drop $5 , general Tso chicken over $20. Other thing was that the bus boys cleared the plates before everyone was finished eating which disrupts the people who are eating. Overall the food was good. But I wont be returning since I thought the price was crazy. We ordered the egg drop soup(they added mushrooms), egg drop wonton with chicken. Came here for a Girls Night Out Pre-Holiday dinner so this review is for 12/2018. It was suggested by 3 of the guests I was dining with; they are the frequent patrons of this place. Comfortable wide leather chairs, tablecloth and formal dinner setting, full bar available, and savory Pan-Asian cuisine options. The menu is quite a read. So much to choose from! The menu pricing ranged from $$ - $$$. The best bang for your buck will be with the Prix Fixe menu options, about $42 per person. Note some entrees had an additional surcharge ($10 - for seafood or lamb supplement). I'm not sure if I read that from the menu or if it was because I saw it on the bill. No matter, it was premium. The Prix Fixe meal comes with a standard appetizer (soup, salad or dumplings), the entree, and then dessert (only two choices). For this month, it was bread pudding or key lime pie. The vibe says upscale dining and elegance with mood lighting. The room was slight dimmed for ambiance. Our waiter was friendly but not as well versed with the bar / cocktail menu. We asked for specific classic drinks (and what vodka brands they have), he wasn't sure. We also asked for cherries with our Old Fashioned...he didn't put any. We did order plenty of Prosecco, an Old Fashioned, Pinot Grigio and a cocktail called The William Pear (I enjoyed it, light/refreshing and not overly sweet). It was light and refreshing. Refills on the ones he got right. For the food: Since the five of us got the Prix Fixe, we got to choose between soup dumplings, salad, or a soup. Given it was rainy and cold, most of us opted for the hot and sour soup. It lacked that spicy kick I'm used to but it still had good flavor. The ingredients were spot on and filling - tofu, root vegetables, carrots and such. I enjoyed my lamb chops very much. They were tender and well seasoned. From the plates I can tell my group enjoyed theirs but they are light eaters so all wrapped to go. The desserts were surprisingly good. Very American choices. Tried only a few things: Edamame - awesome app to start with, as always. 5/5 Chicken and chive dim sum - four small pieces, so delicious and fresh! 5/5 Szechuan shredded beef - a tad too oily for me, but loved that it had so much pepper in it. 3/5 Tangerine chicken - flavorful, but didn't expect it to be so fried that its crust would be so hard and heavy. 3/5 Service started out great, but ended up being very slow towards the end. Our waiter was a lively young man, he's pushing the house made Sangria. The three of us order the Sangria. We make a toast and took a sip. I can honestly say that was the worst Sangria I ever drank! Mixed with sadness, it was just yucko man. I'm here for the duck. I've been reading about two types of prepared duck, one is classic Beijing style and the other is a crispy style duck. I was leaning towards the crispy style duck. When the waiter asked us what style, that deep fried crispy went away. My wife wanted a 1/2 Beijing style duck. We also ordered a fried rice dish. What came to us was a mountain of fried rice. So much fried rice it made want to sing ain't no mountain high enough.. We ordered for the table a steamer of assorted Dim Sum, Duck Spring rolls and I also ordered a soup. I do have to say the soups being made at Moonstone are top notch. Very silky and chock full of flavor, I was starting to get filled up on the sides alone. My duck was prepared table side. Our waiter made each of us two duck pancakes with sauce and scallions. My favorite! I haven't had it in a while but when I do, it always takes me back to childhood. When I graduated 6th grade I wanted Moo Shu. It's my go to dish. After we ate our meals, we skipped coffee and asked for the check. We went to another spot in Queens for coffee. I do have to say Moonstone delivered. The menu is substantial and there are lots of great classic Chinese-American dishes we all grew up with, I'd like to come back here for lunch. We ordered food. We order from here or dine in multiple times a month. They sent the wrong food. The restaurant is VERY expensive so I requested the correct food. When I asked for the correct food to be sent, I was told, and I quote "we are really busy right now so can we call you back later when we are closing?" I asked to speak to a manager. The manager literally yelled at me and mocked me saying "16 dollars, you're worried about 16 dollars? It's not a big deal. Get over it. You need to respect our business. We are busy." I have had this location bookmarked for some time. Just recently, my best friend brought me here for lunch to celebrate my birthday. The place is clean and has a beautiful upscale feel to it. It was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon. The service was amazing. Our waiters were attentive and ensured to give a thorough explanation on every item that we ordered. I have been here more than a dozen times, and as our local go to place Chinese restaurant for dinning in, they have never disappointed. The food is consistently good and they always use top of the line ingredients. Do not expect your local Chinese food for take out flavors! The food here is definitely elevated with great care and no overwhelming sauce flavors, as most take out Chinese restaurants. So as an example, if you order one of their Beef dishes, you will immediately recognize that the beef is a high grade quality, that you can cut through with your fork. This is true for all their meats, poultry and fish. Therefore expect to pay at least double for the same dish. Fried rice for example is $20, and worth it! Coupled with the food, is great service, starting with the host staff and the waiters in this restaurant. The ambiance is very relaxing and the establishment is very clean.
