This company claims to be 5 star rated, it is not. They installed a Carrier in 2014, the A/C's compressor has failed. Nonetheless, this company wants to charge me $3,300 to repair, but recommends me to buy a new 3 ton air conditioner. I would use caution with dealing with these people. They install bad A/C's & offer no discounts for repairs. An air conditioner should last 15-20 years. My failed after 4 years. They are a company that does not stand by their products & do not care what it costs for the customer to repair. Good luck if you have had work done by them. read more

Trust? Not honoring a $25 dollar off Service Coupon. I had my Carrier HVAC system installed by Moore Mechanical. I recently had my HVAC system serviced for $179 dollars as part of their maintenance service agreement. I brought forward this coupon I found in a magazine that talks about $25 dollars off on your next service. Both the Service Technician and Office coordinator stated that this coupon is only good for repair. I asked them to show me where it says that on the coupon and they are silent. I hope this does not represent the character of this company when comes down to $25 dollars. Additionally, they quoted me $200 dollar installation for a 5-2-1 compression saver kit. Way overpriced. Tried charging me $700 + $200 installation for a part that should cost $100 (Honeywell WV8860B1317 Control Valve). Quoted $2400 for a new water heater. Happily, I found another company to install a water heater for $1200. Unfortunately, I'm out the $90 diagnostic fee, but I learned my lesson and won't be back to Moore again in the future. read more

In 2018, our A/C was not circulating enough cool air for our comfort. We contacted Moore Mechanical, and they discovered that our system was low on refrigerant. They concluded that there might be a leak in the system somewhere, after doing a search with dye. The tech said there is a leak in the evaporator coil, and that we should replace it, at a cost of more that $4000,00. Within a year, we were completely OUT OF refrigerant. ( Note: we were never told that there is a one year LABOR warranty) A technician from Moore Mechanical came out and suggested to do another search, or perhaps use a sealant. He also mentioned that the leak could be inside the wall that stands parallel to the outdoor compressor. On that visit we were charged for : the sealant, and more refrigerant. In April of 2020, A/C is, once again, very weak. A technician came and charged us $502.00 for approximately two pounds of refrigerant. We we're very frustrated. Nicky said when the tech comes again for our routine maintenance, in 2021, the technician could do another search to try and find the leak at no cost to us. We received an email in April 2021 to schedule the appointment- our membership cost also went up to $365.00. April 30, technician Adam came, he put the dye in, then he came back the following Wednesday and he said he thinks the leak is in the coil. THE COIL THEY INSTALLED. He also added two more pounds of refrigerant at $540.00 which is necessary to conduct a dye procedure. We received an estimate that is quite frankly an insult. $3100 for the following: -$1452.00 labor -$1160.00 for " additional tech on job site" QUANTITY-4 Is this open heart surgery ? Why 4 technicians?? PLUS more refrigerant for approximately $500.00 WE DON'T SEE ANY " Membership Discount " on the estimate. We sent an email to Renee to cancel our membership, and we received 1/2 credit back. $167.00 refund. She wrote that she would inform the management team about our dissatisfaction with their business. We have not heard from management or the owners so we assume they don't care. Do not use this company. read more

We have used them on several houses we have owned in the Tri Valley. They have been five-star across the board. Great employees. Great company. Ask them who performs their asbestos removal, if you need it on the project. If they say "Alliance", walk away. As good as Moore is, it isn't worth the effort to deal with their sub. If asbestos isn't in the project, I'd go with Moore all the way. We have dealt with this Jekyll and Hyde thing with Moore before, and as good as they are...it just isn't worth dealing with Alliance. I contacted Moore Mechanical because of the 5 star rating customers gave it. The airflow from my heater was practically non-existent. I wanted the technician to advise me what the problem was and what work would be needed to resolve the problem. A Service call of $95 would be charged plus any additional work. The technician came looked at my heater, said there is a lower airflow going downstairs but never addressed why. He left and charged me $95 for what I already knew. This company never contacted me about what I would need to do to repair it nor who should I call to get it fixed. I would not use them again and don't understand how they got a 5 Star rating. We have had Moore Mechanical in twice over the past 8 years. They replaced our aging furnace (complete with asbestos removal) in a day and a half. The first visit was 5 stars. This last visit they replaced the pump on the furnace and installed a Halo Air purifier. They did a good job, but gave me the fake one time only deal discount and I paid almost twice what it cost on Amazon. The price they showed from retail was %300 percent markup. My fault for not looking it up. I just had such a great and honest experience the first time, I did not think to check. The technician also tried to push on a water heater cleaning service which I told him I had vinegar for already. He tried the "we have special stuff" and grilled me on if I had a sub pump, etc. That left a bad taste in my mouth. I am not saying I will not use them again, but check the pricing and watch any add on services that they push. read more

Moore Mechanical attempted to write a bait and switch contract at an inflated price to enrich Moore by taking money from my pocket. I asked for a Generac Generator model 7210. Kevin B. came out for the estimate and wrote the contract. He brought an electrician. Kevin switched me to a Honeywell generator model 7213 as, Moore has a better relationship with Honeywell. Nothing was said about cost or how it would benefit me. Kevin said a Honeywell generator model 7213 is the same as Generac model 7213, except it is branded as Honeywell and is Honeywell's product. I found this to be FALSE. It is the same as a Generac model 7209 which costs about $600.00 less and doesn't come with a Transfer Switch which Moore has to buy separately and put in the contract as an equipment item with no cost showing. The contract total sum was $25, 049.00. There were no other costs shown in the contract to allow me to add up the costs to equal the total sum. The contract wanted payment of 50% at signing of the contract. $12,524.50 at signing. The generator would not be available for about 3 months. Moore wanted to keep $12,524.50 for about 3 months. The California State Licensing Board (CSLB) requires $1,000.00 or 10% of the contract, whichever is less as the initial cost. I feel it is attempted extortion. When I asked Kevin B. to comply with the requirements of the CSLB by changing the initial cost, by inserting my cost of all equipment shown, including the generator itself, I received an email from Owner, Steve Moore saying he withdraws the contract. When we decided to redo our HVAC system, we assessed quotes from a total of 10+ HVAC contractors of which the shortlisted to the following vendors: Service Experts, Delta Mechanical and Moore Mechanical. We ended up doing the PG&E Advanced Home Energy Upgrade program via Moore Mechanical. We had an independent advisor from BayREN Energy Advisor (They are a government backed organization who helps with consulting on Home energy upgrades for non-profit) consult on assessment of scope and statement of work. We worked with Kevin from the assessment, defining the project scope, cost and schedule estimation and completion. They were extremely transparent with breaking down the cost by work item which helped us explore options on what to include in the scope and what not and not going over our budget and still not compromising on our priorities for the project. The factors that made us choose them were: 1. They were PG&E certified Home Upgrade and Advanced Home Upgrade Professionals. 2. Their statement of work spelled out every single detail that that was in scope in plain simple English for us laymen to understand. 3. They were not pushy, didn't want to up-sell anything. 4. They were always available to provide the rationale behind each of their recommendations in the areas in scope. 5. They were patient in answering all our questions and if it was not something they knew immediately, they would go back and get back to us with proper explanation. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: 9.9/10 We almost made a decision to go with one of the other vendors since we were in the middle of one of the hottest summers with no AC. But sanity prevailed and we decided to take the right course and do it RIGHT! Kevin walked us through phase by phase from initiation, scope definition, site assessment, cost and schedule estimation without any problems. You could tell that what mattered to them was to ensure that they remain honest and do their best throughout. PRE-ASSESSMENT EXPERIENCE: 8/10 They subcontract the HERS test via EnerGuy. The tests identified that we had asbestos in the boots of the AC ducts (which brought our project to a halt as Asbestos removal was #1 priority before any work could be done, which meant additional costs). The tests were otherwise uneventful. RESPONSIVENESS: 9/10. Their scheduling department (Jamie, Nichole and the rest of the team) is awesome and their tech guys guys are a stickler for being on time (which is awesome!) Jesse, Byron, Nick and the rest of their tech team is extremely knowledgeable and their attention to detail is great! Not a single And Kevin - He is not your regular sales person who washes his hands after he gets you to buy, no sir! You can tell that he had plenty of knowledge in the system and technology that he is selling and he will ensure that he channels your information correctly and keeps you updated throughout the process. Even after the project was complete, he has continued to help in answering questions. QUALITY OF WORK: 10/10. No questions here. From filing the papers for the permit and ensuring that everything is done to the detail as defined by the statement of work, they aim to please the customer (means a lot to us!) No matter what you do, everyone knows you cannot include every single detail in the scope document, but when there were gray areas that came up, they offered a reasonable solution even if that meant that they had to go above and beyond. They respect your home and ensure they leave it in at least the same condition as it was (yes, they clean up after their work and don't leave a mess). QUALITY OF EQUIPMENT: 10/10. They specialize with Carrier (the company that practically invented the concept of HVAC and are transparent about the equipment costs unlike Lennox and other competition). The products are of the highest quality. We have no regrets of spending what we did to get the project completed to our satisfaction. COST (vs. their competition): 10/10. Their rates are competitive on all the fronts. So, it was very easy for us to choose them over their competition. Just know this - if their competition are offering something at a cheaper price, there is ALWAYS a compromise (equipment, labor, installation, etc.) which will hurt you sooner than later. MAINTENANCE: 10/10. What separates them from the others is that hey stand behind their promises. We learned it the hard way with our previous system and the service providers. PAPERWORK: 10/10. We had to look for financing options from a third party which required the project scope and costs estimates defined in detail. The financial institution did not have any trouble approving the funds and was satisfied with initial paperwork. I got a chance to speak to Steve Moore for clarifications and he was very supportive of helping with any extra paperwork needed so that the project doesn't get delayed. We had a problem with the AC system they installed about 2 years ago so I called Nicole. She was extremely professional - nothing like the previous girl that answered phones. Nicole said she would take a look at the schedule and call me back. Wthin a couple of hours I got a call that Shawn was on his way. Shawn was AWESOME - immediately knew what was causing the problem. He did a great job fixing the AC and getting us back up and running - so we wouldn't have to experience 94 degree's inside the house for another day. Very professional, knowledgeable and priced reasonable. Appointment was made over the phone and the lady who answered the phone was very courteous and upfront with the service call charge. Technician (Sean) came in on time (they called 20 min prior to arrival) and was very systemic with trouble shooting. Within 20 minutes he was able to diagnose and fix what caused the problem (no heat coming off from the downstairs vent) by reconnecting a wire in the attic. No upselling or BS diagnosis. The charge was reasonable. I can't be more than happy with the experience. I had another company (covered by home warranty) came in last week and they were not able to figure out what was causing the problem. I can't believe how bad this company's service could be! I would give negative stars if I had a choice. Back forward 3 days ago, I reached out to them because our AC unit was down. It's a warranty issue and I explained that I'd called the manufacturer and established a case, and they just had to work with them on reimbursement. They scheduled an appointment for me for 3 days later on Friday. The second day they called me back and told me that they are still working on communicating with the manufacturer. The third day, they still called me and told me the same thing. I was patiently waiting for them to get the reimbursement straightened out because I wanted them to get paid probably for the project. On the fourth day which is the appointment day, they called me and said that they called the manufacturer and was told that the case was closed. They advised me that I needed to call them to reopen the case, which I did. When I called them back, I was told that they couldn't help me anymore because they didn't have the capacity to help me due to COVID-19. I questioned why they didn't tell me in the first place 4 days ago while I kept on telling them that we're suffering with no cool air in the house!!! This is insane! How could they treat customers like this when we are going through the toughest time in this pandemic and also suffering heat being have to stay home by order! This review is for the dryer vent cleaning service. Victor did a great job. Scheduling: easy to do over the phone, though there is a window of time, once I had an issue where I couldn't make just an hour of the window, but could make the other hours, and they were pretty accommodating. Punctual: Yes- he arrived in the window of time agreed upon Clean: Yes- he put on booties before entering the house and left it clean. Knowledgeable/Courteous: Yes, he was nice about answering questions about the process, and when we might need it serviced again. What he did: cleaned out the dryer vent on a second floor laundry room that terminated on the roof Price: Reasonable Payment: Easy- they take credit cards. How great was it? So great, I scheduled him to clean another dryer vent at a different rental house I manage. What he did: cleaned out the dryer vent on a first floor laundry room that had a few turns that terminated at an exterior wall He removed A LOT of debris/lint (even some leaves/stuff like an old bird nest). So glad he came when he did, as we had no idea it was so full of lint. Why I so especially appreciate their work: - To compare, before I found Moore Mechanical, I tried two other companies. The first one accidentally clogged the vent line, and left the tenant with a non working dryer vent. Moore came to the rescue and figured out the lint had been pushed down the vent into a pile that bunched up and created a blockage. They unblocked it- Thanks Jorge. The second one charged me full price even though upon arrival it turned out there wasn't much if anything to clean because that vent vented directly out to a side wall, and their van left oil stains on the formerly clean driveway. So, it was a relief to find Victor at Moore Mechanical- He got the dryer vent clean, on time, at reasonable cost, with an easy to read invoice, and left the place cleaner than when he arrived. read more

The office staff were courteous and professional in setting up the appointment, called to let us know the technician was on his way, and called to see if we had earlier availability when they had an opening in the schedule. Our technician Rick was friendly and professional, and good at asking the right questions about our system and its use before climbing into the attic to take a look. We had called Moore in a pinch years ago when our heater broke. After their quick service, quality work, and fair pricing, we used them several times after. We also signed up for the semi-annual maintenance. When our AC (it was very old) died last summer, we again used Moore Mechanical to install a new AC and heater. We did reach out to a few other companies, and Moore's was not only the best price, but their crew seemed more knowledgable and focused on details. We had our AC and heater installed early this year, and we were so impressed. Everyone we've worked with at Moore is polite and easy to talk to. They consistently have professional and quality work.
