Moore Mechanical is a fraud! I hired Moore Mechanical to install a heat pump water heater in my home in July 2023 for approximately $6,000, mainly because they promised that I would receive a substantial rebate of around $3,000 as part of the installation package from PG&E and BayREN ($2,000 from PG&E and $1,000 from BayREN). Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing due to their mishandling of the rebate process. Rebate Issues: 1. False Promises and Mismanagement: Moore Mechanical initially asked for my PG&E bills and assured me that I wouldn't need to do anything else except wait for the rebate check. After patiently waiting for six months, I contacted them to inquire about the rebate status, only to be informed that the application had never been submitted. They claimed that the person responsible for handling my rebate had left the company and that they needed to resubmit the paperwork on my behalf. 2. Financial Loss Due to Delays: Unfortunately, during this delay, BayREN reduced their rebate amount from $1,000 to $400, resulting in a $600 loss for me. While I was disappointed, I was willing to accept this reduction as long as I received something back. I confirmed with Moore Mechanical that they had resubmitted the necessary documents and asked them to notify me if anything else was needed. 3. Lack of Communication and Accountability: After another six months passed without receiving the rebates, I attempted to contact them again via email but received no response. I tried calling the representative who resubmitted my application, but he was unresponsive. When I finally managed to reach the company directly, they shockingly informed me that I must submit the rebate applications myself and refused to offer any further assistance. 4. Unprofessional Conduct: This behavior is unacceptable and feels deceitful. Moore Mechanical's promise to handle the rebate process was a major factor in my decision to hire them, and their subsequent refusal to take responsibility for their failures is both frustrating and unprofessional. Conclusion: Moore Mechanical's mishandling of my rebate process has resulted in significant financial loss and a highly disappointing customer experience. I would caution others against trusting this company's assurances and recommend seeking a more reliable contractor who stands by their commitments and communicates effectively. read more

Horrible Experience with Moore Mechanical - Do NOT Recommend! Our experience with Moore Mechanical was nothing short of a nightmare. We entrusted them with the $21,000 installation of a new heating and cooling system, expecting professional and competent service. Instead, we were met with carelessness, inexperience, and complete disregard for our home and family. To start, Moore Mechanical did not properly prepare our home for the installation. They left screws and layers of dust scattered across the house, which we later found on handrails, surfaces, and even on our babies' changing pads. With two kids under two years old, this mess wasn't just inconvenient--it was dangerous and irresponsible. As if the disorganized mess wasn't enough, they didn't even bother to properly put our vents back in place. Instead, they left us with misaligned vents and scratched walls. But the real kicker came when we discovered that our brand-new heating system wouldn't even heat! It would only blow cold air, a clear sign that something was seriously wrong with the installation. When we asked them to fix it, they sent their "A team" after their original team clearly botched the job. During the initial install, it was evident that the crew was inexperienced, frequently pausing the job to seek guidance from an expert over the phone. For the correction, they sent out a single senior engineer who, thankfully, managed to make the system functional--but this was after an avoidable ordeal. But that wasn't the end of the misery. During their disastrous installation, they managed to trip the sensor on our water heater, leaving us without hot water. They shrugged it off, showing no sympathy or urgency to fix this issue. Imagine paying $21,000 and being left without a functioning heating system and no hot water, with two babies in the home. Moore Mechanical left us with a dysfunctional, poorly installed system and a laundry list of issues that we're now scrambling to address. This is a company that embodies customer service execution. The process from beginning to end was perfect, e.g. scheduling, timeliness, understanding the problem and providing multiple options. I want to start by pointing out that I have a 20 year old system that has had very little if any work done on it since it was installed. Now to the service: Dan arrived within the time window and began the visit by listening to what I thought the problem with our HVAC system was. He first checked the compressor and motor outside to determine that it would turn on. When that checked out ok he then evaluated the interior unit and found the initial problem which was a circuit board gone bad. Once the board was replaced he tested the system. While the circuit board worked fine he unfortunately found out the system was out of Freon. At this point Dan did a great job of walking me through 4 options to fix the problem and the reason for and the cost of each option. Without specifying I would say that I felt that I understood what the benefits of each option was and given as much time to decide as I needed. I will point out too that everything was in writing so no chance of "I never said that" after the fact. At no point was I pushed or hurried into making one decision or another. In total Dan spent 2 hours with me and my HVAC system. I would highly recommend Moore Mechanical to anyone looking for a company that is thorough and wants to help a customer solve a problem which most of us know very little about. read more

Scheduled for a repair service for our aircon unit on Monday, and got an appointment the next day. Our aircon has been intermittently turning on and then off after a few minutes, finally dd not turn on at all a week before so I gave Moore Mechanical a call based on yelp reviews. Rick was the technician sent and he was great. I had 2 other HVAC companies look at the aircon system a year ago, both told be I needed to change the control board, and subsequently an aircon/furnace replacement as well. Rick diagnosed immediately that the thermostat was the defective component, noting that it was not sending a signal back to the control board. I wondered why this was not diagnosed correctly by the other technicians before, then I thought that was why I was getting pushed to replace the entire aircon/furnace. We have a 20 yr old carrier unit, and I know it needed some freon top-off so I had that done as well, that will at least lessen the strain on the compressor running longer this summer. Yelp is oftentimes a hit and miss, as I relied on it with a couple different companies for the same problem a year ago. Could have been misdiagnosed , I'm not sure, but I'm glad I wasn;t wring with Moore Mechanical , Rick in particular. Highly recommend this technician! Feel bad for him though since he kinda lost his poach somewhere after his service call to our house, hope he found it. read more

We hired Moore Mechanical to install a ductless HVAC system in our Fremont condo, and couldn't be happier. Our particular installation was a bit of a challenge, in that they had to design a system that while (of course) meeting our comfort needs, would also satisfy our somewhat picky homeowner's association. Our HOA had been known to reject HVAC system proposals in the past based on design and aesthetic grounds, so we had legitimate concern. Moore Mechanical came up with a solution that satisfied all parties, and we got approval from the HOA right away. The whole experience was super professional, clear and to the point, from Kevin quoting the job down to the crew that did the install. Installation day came and the crew arrived promptly and got right to work. They were cheerful, polite and worked hard. Approximately 9 hours later we were enjoying our new air conditioning system, and we're thrilled with the result. In getting bids for this project I talked at least 4 other local companies; it's amazing the response I received, ranging from moderately flaky to downright awful. Happily, the folks at Moore Mechanical were professional 100% of the way. I highly recommend them for your HVAC needs. read more

I had a problem with my HVAC and had gone through quite a few HVAC contractors without success. Some recommended changing the system. Other suggested changing the TXV valve, etc. The last guy suggesting TXV valve change as the solution, did not even bother to look in the attic to see I do not have TXV valve installed on my system (so not sure what he wanted to change!). Anyhow to cut the long story short. As a last resort, I contacted Moore Mechanical. They do charge a nominal diagnostic fee. They sent Shawn to do the diagnostic. He got onto attic. Give me a good assessment of the evac coil. Found a blower cap that needed to be replaced to improve air flow. Found the metering device is not TXV valve, and then based on that realized the main root of the problem was that the previous contractor had not fully charged the system, since he had used the subcooling method (which is appropriate for TXV based system) not superheating method, so the system was undercharged with R22. It was a pleasure seeing a professional in action. Finally some one who cares about doing the work for which they are being compensated. My experience with Moore Mechanical was stellar, I would give 6 stars if I could. read more

Moore Mechanical's entire staff! was prompt, polite, professional, and efficient. Our 30 year old heater failed on Friday night during a recent cold wave. I called Saturday morning and a member arrived within two hours to help us, decide what we needed. There was no pressure to purchase more than we needed! We purchased a new heater, coil, and air conditioning unit on Saturday, called to schedule installation on Monday! and the work was completed in one day the following Wednesday. The final price was exactly as quoted. Everyone was very professional, and followed all Coved and cleanliness protocols. I especially! like their alert and tracking system which sends you a text of the technician's name! confirms their arrival time, and allows you to actually track their arrival in real time, The entire experience was seamless! read more

Avoid this company! We had a frustrating experience with Moore that almost led us to make a costly mistake. We contacted them when our A/C broke down, expecting a clear and accurate diagnosis, despite their $99 diagnostic fee being higher than other companies. The technician arrived, spent some time on his phone while on our rooftop, and eventually informed us that our unit was low on refrigerant (which they don't carry for our older model), recommending a complete unit replacement--an expensive option we were uncomfortable with. To be sure, we sought a second opinion, and another company quickly identified the real issue: a defective part, which cost just $350 to repair. In hindsight, Moore's diagnosis feels inaccurate and misleading. It would be fair to reconsider the diagnostic fee, given the misdiagnosis. read more

I had scheduled an HVAC company to come in to do a tune-up on my furnace. The first thing they found was several cracks in my heat exchanger, and the service stopped there. The next 2.5 hours was all about convincing me to buy a new furnace and A/c to solve the problem. Before I moved forward, I thought I would ask for the opinion of a Carrier (my current furnace) specialist. Dan S from Moore came out. Did a thorough inspection, and found no cracks!! I was happy and at the same time fuming that I almost spent $14K for no reason. Moore could have told me to swap out my furnace, too, but they chose to be honest with me. In addition, whomever I spoke with over the phone was genuinely trying to help me. And for their honesty as well as their truly helpful service, they have a lifetime customer! read more

I work at Trek Bikes and our store has been suffering from poor A/C performance for the last 6 months. My mechanics have been dying. We had had two different companies come out to quote our repairs before Richard and Jesse from Moore Mechanical Heating and Cooling were called. Based on what was communicated and shown to me by them, it quickly dawned on me just how poor quality the technicians that came before were. I could tell that they really cared about the value proposition they were proposing, they were very detailed in explanations of what would cost what and why. Isaac & Keith repaired our heat pump system at our home. It had been installed by a different company - that never completed the work, didn't installed the correct electrical safety items, and left the system leaking coolant. There was a considerable amount of work needed to correct the original installation. Both of the techs were knowledgeable, professional, nice, friendly, and willing to listen to thier customer! One good tech from a service company indicates that the company has a good tech. Two good techs from the same company indicates that the company is probably well run and has a good work ethic. It was the latter that we discovered. Our heat pump's deficiencies have been corrected and we are very happy with the whole process of working with Moore Mechanical. read more

Prompt, reasonable, professional, thorough, no-pressure advice. I used Moore to do an HVAC check up and cleaning recently. I was anticipating an issue or two as Ryan spent ample time checking and maintaining our furnace and A/C but he found just one small suggested repair. I asked him what would happen if we delayed and he said it would just wear out in the next 1-2 years and the unit wouldn't start until that small part was replaced but no damage would be caused so we could easily wait. He gave me an estimate for the work and didn't pressure me with a special "fix it now for a discount" price. I like getting that kind of response so I can make a decision in the way that works best for me. Highly recommend. read more

Have used them for the last twenty years. Always been well satisfied. Their tech Rick just fixed the motor on my downstairs furnace and the AC now works again. My only suggestion to Moore is that they may want to provide weekend maintenance service. My AC went out on Friday evening and we had to endure several hot days until they could come on Wednesday. Fortunately, my upstairs furnace helped cool my downstairs somewhat, which made the heat more bearable. I was tempted to call another company that provides all-time emergency assistance, however, I was reluctant to try somebody whose reliability I did not know from personal experience. read more

Talk about customer service, and curious, and helpful personnel at the office. I was just wowed. As they say " first impression is the last impression. I just needed my tankless water heater cleaned, so I called them ( after having unpleasant experience with two other company ) the pleasant voice on the other end, scheduled an appointment . Victor, who came to do the job, was very pleasant explained me everything. While he was waiting for the cleaning precess, he gave me few hints to do some maintenance, and even showed me.
