Unsanitary Restaurant Practice: I ate at More Perraca's with my husband & 2-yr old son. After eating I went to the restroom and was horrified to see a high chair and 2 booster seats (on the floor) stored there. It's not like they sanitize these chairs before giving it to parents for their babies/toddlers to sit in. Just. Plain. Wrong. Food was marginal anyway for the price they charge. It's been awhile since I've been here. It used to be very good, so I was looking forward to visiting again. I was very disappointed with my latest visit. First, no warm bread?? Just some cold slices with some butter squares?? Next we ordered chicken parm and spaghetti and meatballs. Twenty one dollars for a chicken parm (no side salad) and the chicken has a bone in it?? That's not Italian. Fifteen dollars for spaghetti and meatballs (no side salad). It did come with three meatballs so that was generous.. It's a small place, I get it, but no one wants to hear 'pick up' yelled over and over again while trying to have their dinner. I think I'll just stick with the bread and pastries next door. Don't bother. The food was pretty good, but on each of our 3 visits, the service became progressively worse. I emailed Maria, the owner and her response was ridiculous so clearly management doesn't care. There are several outstanding Italian restaurants locally and many very good ones. Went for dinner Thursday night and it was disappointing. I have been here many times, so I was really looking forward to a great Italian meal and some of their legendary bread. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, one of my favorites! My husband ordered the personal size pizza. Sadly, both were very disappointing. My chicken Parmigiana was served with a fra diavolo sauce (very, very spicy....I couldn't eat it) and my husband's pizza tasted like it was on a slice of bread. To their credit, they did allow me to order another meal and comped the side salads and a glass of wine. The new chef explained that the wrong sauce was put on the chicken parmigiana in error. I then ordered chicken piccata and that was over breaded and the pasta was over cooked. The bread which is normally very fresh and hand cut was thinly sliced and tasted day old. So disappointing. Because the new chef was very new and this has previously been my go to restaurant for authentic Italian food, we will give it one more try. read more

Stopped in for lunch during the week. What a great bistro atmosphere! The menu had a nice selection of traditional Italian items. Our waiter Anthony was so friendly and really knew the menu well. Our drinks and food arrived quickly but never felt rushed. We shared an order of the anti-pasta (which was delicious!) and a pizza with sausage, eggplant and artichokes. Was very excited to finally eat here but was quickly very disappointed. I ordered the sauasage and peppers panini. It came on in toast. It had no sauce whatsoever and it was one small sausage and a few peppers for $10!! Very disappointing. Someone else in my party ordered a chicken parm panini. Also just toasted bread and it had no sauce. We had to ask for sauce. Isn't chicken parm supposed to have sauce?? Service was also pretty crappy and it was not busy. I recently visited Perecca's Restaurant, my favorite Italian restaurant. My husband and I were very disappointed. They started a new menu with fewer selections. I ordered the meatballs and spaghetti which is always delicious. The sauce has always reminded me of my mom's sauce. Not so on Sunday evening. The sauce was watery, the meatballs were dry and did not appear to have been cooked in the sauce. The meatballs were very peppery. My husband's choice was a chicken dish which was too spicy also. Please bring back the old menu and keep the restaurant the way it was. Why change a good thing when it already works! read more

This place was recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic - linguine vongole with red clam sauce for me and eggplant parm for the hubby. Both dishes were delicious as was the shrimp verde appetizer. My salad was nice and fresh and he loved the cream of turkey with rice soup. Our server was Jeremy and he was great and Chris surprised us with some nice red velvet cupcakes to take home to celebrate our anniversary! This place is the worst establishment ever! The put fruit in their pancake batter and you can't ask for it out without it tasting like the sourdough they use. Also they changed their menu without telling anybody. I will say they do have good pink lemonade but that's it. They changed the menu within 3 weeks from the last time I was here. Had an amazing girls night, the service was impeccable and the drinks were even better. The wait was a little excessive but so worth it when I got my Lobster Pumpkin ravioli, even though it was the size of an appetizer it was still amazing. This is for the restaurant. A friend and I were there on a weekday in September about 11:30 AM, so it wasn't quite prime lunch time. Service was mediocre. Food was slow from the kitchen, and it wasn't particularly good or bad. It was a nice sandwich but no better than what I make in my own kitchen. The wait person never returned to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks or if we wanted anything else. It took forever to get the check. I won't bother to return to the restaurant, but will go the bread in the bakery. read more

My sister loves Italian ... we tried More Perreca's because we heard about their bread and we were not disappointed! Saturday night reservation at 5pm ... busy already since they close at 8pm. We were shown a cozy booth which ended up being a great seat! The restaurant has a cool cozy vibe. We started out sharing the Eggplant Rollantine ... very good! The entrees came with a nice green salad and yes their AWESOME bread! My sister had her favorite entree Chicken Parmesan ... and I had Veal Parmesan ... both were very very good! Both came with a side of pasta. Our server was excellent and was on top of refilling our sodas quickly. For dessert, we were going to share what I would call a lemon square. The wonderful server brought us two saying they were small and just charged us for one - they were really good - great lemon tang. Entrees were plentiful and we had more than enough for a second meal at home! Try this restaurant for a no muss no fuss awesome meal! read more

well lets see oh yea i like the table tops but i hate the bottom of the tables not any of the booths but only in the dining room i hate because they are so wobbly they need to get fixed or i will not come back ever again unless it gets fixed wow very annoying and if it does not get fixed i will have no choice and report it. Cute cafe. Food was decent. I was really expecting more maybe. My cousin ordered one of the specials, a frittata, the egg came out runny, not cooked, looked like more of an omelette. The kids pancakes were supposed to come with fruit that we had to ask for. Our waters were never refilled. My tomato pie was cold. Our waitress was rude and came over to take the tip off the table while we were still there talking and finishing up. (They were not busy- empty tables around. I love the food there. It really is delicious. Everything I have ever eaten there is cooked perfectly and well seasoned. We regularly have Jeremy as our server. This is a great value for breakfast and lunch, but not for dinner. The food is good, but the service is hit or miss. Our waitress doesn't know how to open a bottle of wine or split a check. The wine glasses are small juice glasses and for some reason they rinse them out right before bringing them to your table, so at least 1/8 of the tiny glass is full of water! Why mix water and wine is beyond me. Then the water glasses are small plastic ones! If I'm paying $15 for a bowl of pasta, why would they give me a cheap disposable water glass?? The people there are nice, but the atmosphere feels like a cafeteria with wobbly, uncovered tables, and plastic cups. Good for breakfast, but not for a $90 dinner for 4 people! read more

We made reservations for 12:00pm for Mother's Day brunch. When we arrived the scene was already chaotic. Every table was taken and the staff appeared to be stressed. We could not immediately be seated so we were asked to wait outside for 15-20 minutes. When we were seated we placed our 5 meal orders and waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Two orders of lobster Benedict were so overcooked that they resembled hard boiled eggs. The wait staff was very friendly and overly apologetic. It was obvious that the kitchen was overworked and under skilled to be able to handle the volume. We had not eaten there in years and were quite disappointed by the whole ordeal. It's most unfortunate but we will not be visiting this historic Schenectady landmark again. read more

I just love this place! The outside patio is very nice and pleasantly landscaped. The food is like my Italian grandmother's! Need I say more? The french toast on the famous Perreca bread is devine. Add a side of home fries that includes sweet potatoes and a glass of fresh squeezed OJ and its the best. I stop in for dinner every two weeks (my payday treat) and enjoy a great seafood special with a cold brew in a frosted glass. If the seafood special doesn't tempt me I opt for the pasta (any kind) topped with home-made sauce and that great bread and I'm back at Grandma's house. Top it off with a piece of Tiramisu and its as close to home as you can get. Great friendly staff (just love Ken!), swift take out orders too. Often see the very gracious owner (Maria) on site as well which is always a bonus. Great place, I can't wait to go again!! read more

Went to Perreca's for lunch last Tuesday, and ordered a personal pizza. When the pizza came it was all burnt on top and bottom. I said to the man that delivered it to my table its all burnt, he said its crispy. I said its burnt. He said I'll make you a new one, I said no I can't wait I'm assuming he was the cook. It was a little over priced for a plain cheese pizza, and a sandwich for the other person and two glasses of soda. The bill was 33.00 dollars and change, plus the tip. I told some friends, and they said they had terrible experiences there too when they went. In my opinion it's very over priced for what we ordered. read more

Had I written this review last month I would have given them 5 Stars. Apparently they have a new chef with a revamped menu. My wife had the Chicken Francese and it was not nearly as good as it has been in the past and the portion was smaller. I had the Calamari Fra Diavolo and that also missed the mark. Although the food was great, it was one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. The table next to us had a different server, a reservation for half an hour after ours, but still left almost an hour before us. We asked for wine twice and still never received it, but it did end up on our check. The waitress checked on and visited each of her other tables three times before even looking our way. Each of the courses came out in the wrong order and we waited for over 30 minutes just to get the check. We even once asked the bus boy for something since she would not come to us at all and we watched him notify the waitress and she just ignored him. Three hours for two people is not acceptable. When mistakes were pointed out, the waitress would just laugh and blame other workers instead of apologizing. No one else in the restaurant seemed to have this problem besides us, so it makes me wonder why we were singled out and ignored... read more

I was extremely disappointed with my lunch experience at More Perreca's. The Soup we had at the table was cold. Our waitress took about 20 min to bring us our drinks and they weren't even busy. One panini came out good it was the eggplant parm But was lacking sauce the two other paninis came out and they were just pieces of toast. No panini press no lines on it. Just overly toasted bread one was a chicken parm "panini" that was just bad dark meat chicken cutlets with melted cheese and a slice of tomato. No sauce on it!?! On the menu it says comes with sauce in it. No it was just dry and gross. The last panini was a sausage and peppers "panini" it was one small slice of sausage cut in half with a few peppers no sauce or anything on two pieces of burnt toast. Again not used in the panini press for some reason and they charged a dollar for cheese. I was really hoping for a good Italian meal. The overall experience was terrible, service, food quality, taste. It sucked. And it was wayyyyy overpriced. After tip it was over $50 for 3 sodas and 3 Paninis that stunk!! read more

Angelina was our server tonight, and she did a wonderful job! My boyfriend got the hot Italian mix panini and it was nice and toasty with a hearty amount of meat on it. For his side he got potato salad and every bite intrigued us into trying to figure out what was in it. I got the mandarin salad and the dressing was the perfect compliment to the salad. For dessert we had the bread pudding and tiramisu, both were not too overly sweet and a good way to finish the meal. The Italian wedding soup was amazing too and seasoned perfectly! I was skeptical when my husband recommended that we have dinner at a Bakery that has a cafe. What a great surprise. This place was fantastic and really reasonable. I got a white pizza with carmelized onions, mushrooms & italian sausage and my kids and husband kept picking at it. My husband got the chicken marsala and it too was fabulous. Our kids ordered from the kids menu and the portion size was perfect (not too big which is what usually happens at restaurants). We had two nice glasses of wine for a very reasonable price. Love the atmosphere - very kid friendly. The owner came over and introduced herself. She told us that her grandparents started the bakery in 1916!! I love that there is a family owned business that stayed locally. We'll definitely be coming back to this place and spreading the word to our friends! read more

What better than pasta and meatballs on a Sunday evening? More Perrecas seemed a logical choice to get our Italian on. Waitress was friendly although a bit rushed. Spaghetti and meatballs show up. The red tomato sause was watery and tasteless. I suspect it was not drained long enough. Companions half chicken was on the small side, it was ok , nothing to write home about. Meatballs were good, no complaint from me. Waitress did not offer coffee or dessert and companion couple had to ask if it was available. Overall, disappointed. Perrecas makes the best bread and pizza in the known universe so we expected better. Other half of party shared the view that they had eaten here before and found it to be lacking. Prices are not cheap so could not blame it on an economy meal. I had an average lunch here in the past but was hoping a nice Italian dinner in a nice Italian restaurant would show me how its done. Probably the best place for authentic Italian in the capital area! Everything from the bread, pizza, and desserts is delicious. We had a large party when we went and we were all satisfied. We even had a couple of dogs (we were sitting outside) and they were very accommodating, they even brought them water. The waiter was nice and humorous and really made it a great experience.
