Vegan and vegetarian cuisine for all! In a world where vegans are weary of where they can eat, it's nice to have a place where they don't have to worry about it. they can order anything off the menu. Not to rule out there vegetarian dishes, cause they do serve eggs, milk and butter with certain things. To the best of my knowledge those are available per request. This is the best hangover breakfast in my opinion. I give the Food a solid 4 stars. I also like having the option to sit out side. On a sunny day, with Trains pulling in or out of the Station...I don't know, there's just a nice buzz in the air in that part of town. Quite nice I have to say. Not so fond of eating inside. It is awfully hipster-ish. Pretty terrible decor. Some not so artistic art is usually displayed in the main dining area. I'm no art critic, but I think they need a decorator. UNFORTUNATELY, the staff seem to want to get you in, and out as quickly as possible. I understand needing to flip tables but we were in no way taking our time. I'm also positive we were on the latter end of service anyway. They seem very impatient with you every step of the way. At least this is often my experience. This last weekend I visited with a group of friends, and I think we were all made to feel we were an inconvenience to servers/ hostesses. I understand working in the service industry an 8 top, can be a little frustrating but I also understand it's good for business and know to treat them with respect, and make them feel welcome. We felt very unwelcome, that's for sure. Must of had 3 different servers ask us if we were ready to order in about a 10 minute period of time. None of which were friendly, and they all walked away looking quite annoyed with the fact that we weren't ready to order. To the best of my knowledge they were still open for a couple more hours. I found the food very good and the service good as well. I am not vegetarian or Vegan, so those choices weren't a high priority. I still found many items appealing on the menu. The good: Prices are reasonable, service is with a smile and quality is good. The bad: Long wait times with extended peak hours make it a difficult destination unless you are willing to wait outside for up to an hour. Also, having to do self service on items like water, which is in the back seating area, detracts from a restaurant experience. Just my opinion. Just got back from yet another successful trip to morning glory. They have so much super flavorful food, but I almost always get the same thing: the fusion, which is a shredded potato shell around tofu chunks, onions, etc in an indescribably delicious sauce. This place isn't for everybody though. While we were there today, a woman was very displeased with the breakfast she got, having probably expected more mainstream fare. I figure that when you go out to a quirky place like this you should buy the ticket and take the ride. You can decide later if the place is for you when you figure out what it's all about. Morning Glory is a great Eugene place serving great Eugene veggie food with spiced fusion flavor. It's my favorite breakfast stop in town. You can often find free parking in the Oregon Electric Station lot next door as they don't open till after breakfast. read more

I wanted to leave Eugene on a happy note. That usually means good food and a full belly. Morning Glory serves up veggie breakfast fare. I had the vegan pancake, a full plate size of--if I remember correctly--a coconut, banana concoction topped with real maple syrup. It was delicious. I couldn't leave without tasting the biscuit and gravy that everyone so raves about. But I found it completely underwhelming. They weren't even warm to begin with. Based on others reviews, I worried about the service lacking, but found the staff to be alert and friendly at 8 am. Eugene's a beautiful lil college town that I'd love to visit again. I wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in the area. After all, there's still plenty more on the menu I have to try. read more

I guess I should preface this with my relationship to this establishment. Over 10 years ago I use to work at Morning Glory and was actually the first employee of the bakery that turned into the restaurant. So I know what the place was in its "glory". Morning Glory was once known for their pastries and now they hardly have any and the times I have tried, they are dried out. How could you mess that up!? So sad. The food itself is okay. There are times I get a menu item and I remember the old times. The Fusion is a great dish with the distinct potato shell as a vegan omelet, but the tumeric is really heavy in the seasonings. The dill roll is how I remember it luckily, since I use to stop what I was doing to appreciate the smell the kneading dough would omit. I ordered a side biscuit with some gravy and I almost laughed when I saw the biscuit. It was very flat and square. Fortunately the gravy was almost as good as I remember it. The luna sandwich, which was always a satisfying winner, has a lot to be desired these days. Seems like a lot of the foods have a hint of what made this café so popular, but over time, they lost the magic. I think most people will leave this place mostly happy, they are only experiencing a small portion of what it used to be. read more

I really enjoyed the vegan biscuits and gravy, the mushroom gravy was absolutely delicious. The entire menu is really rounded and leaves you with plenty of choices. It's the service the left me unsatisfied in the end. It took forever for anyone to take our order and then it just sort of got dropped off like "Whatever, bye now." I don't need that much attention but at least feeling welcome is a nice touch. It was towards winding down time, not many people around so I assume that the waitress was also busy doing other duties but you still have to pay attention and give a least a little effort in the customer service part. I'd honestly be uncomfortable going back again unless someone else had their hearts set on it. read more

I'm torn. Yummy food. Last summer it was busy as we expected on a weekend. We sat outside, saying yes to the first available table. Hornets kept landing on our food and drink. It would have been nice to be warned ( I'm not blaming the place for nature but I've never had this many bugs land on my food anywhere ) I was pregnant at the time and very nervous about getting stung. I'm not talking about one here or there it was non-stop. The staff took out compost right through the outside seating ( not the best atmosphere but if that's the only entrance / exit ? ) plus it seems liked their compost bin was pretty open to attract even more hornets. We had to go inside to get boxes to go and left. Haven't been back since. I love the vegan and vegetarian options and it was my go to place for breakfast. I was always eager to try their specials each month. But unfortunately one bad experience can really ruin it for me. This place could possibly make a vegetarian out of me. Ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice upon seating. I'm a big fan of pulp so the first sip already sealed the deal for me. For breakfast (which is served all day) i ordered The Fusion which is like a curry tofu omelette with golden crispy hash browns as the outer shell. The best part was the scoop of the soy sour cream with chives served on top of the potatoes. Perfection! As I walked up to the counter to pay, a rugelach stared me down and didn't let me walk out without trying it. Glad I picked it up. Best decision of the morning. They have signs posted inside that say no cellphones but it'd be hard to tell because of all the conversations already going on inside. Yelped a vegan breakfast place on our drive from Corvallis home to Oakland the other day. Found Morning Glory and was intrigued. +1 star for such an awesome and thoughtful vegan menu. I love the creativity. Overall the food was pretty dang good and it is in a cute little building next to the train station so that is fun. I had the Happy Morning Sandwich, which I loved. It was huge! The mushroom gravy was so good and I liked digging into my 'sandwich' with knife and fork. Washed down with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. My boyfriend had the Three Sisters. I've always loved the food here but had a weird experience a couple days ago. Me and my partner and some friends were outside and having a conversation about a performance artist we had seen last year and were describing her act and discussing it. It involved her genitals but in no way was it an inherently sexual conversation whatsoever. We had already moved on and started talking about something else when one of the waiters came over and told us that "we were in a family establishment and our conversations needed to reflect that." And that we needed to talk about something else. Didn't even tell us to not swear or anything, just straight up told us that the conversation we were having couldn't take place there. Huh???? We look around and are surrounded by adults well into their 40s. There weren't even children present. I've heard stories of people being openly racist in their conversations at morning glory and the staff doing absolutely nothing, letting the talks continue despite the "all are welcome here" liberal print out on the wall. but I guess where these Puritan enablers draw the line is when vaginas come up in our conversations. Not inclusive or welcoming. I don't blame the waiter for approaching us as they probably felt pressure from whatever dipshit customer didn't wanna confront us themselves or from upper management wanting to keep the environment pristine and uptight and reflective of their own Christian values, but whatever the case I'm bummed that those are the people that truly matter to this company and that art and self expression and the people who are passionate about that aren't the ones who feel protected here. I don't like to write bad reviews because everyone deserves a chance and with so many positive reviews I was hoping for a good breakfast to start my day. I had the egg, potato and toast breakfast which should be an easy meal to cook. My medium eggs were a tad over cooked and the toast was dry, but what was the most disappointing was the potatoes, which were flavorful but very, very, very DRY. I have been here twice now and will be back. Vegetarian restaurant with everything able to be vegan automatically earns you points in my book. The space is comfy and laid back, can be a little loud on Sundays. I most recently had the breakfast sandwich with a tofu and soy-sausage patty. Served on a homemade biscuit with tomatoes and tofu cream cheese. It was great! Served with homefries on the side. Somehow I didn't notice that would come served with gravy-the only downside to my meal. It was gelatinous and bland and alllll over my lovely potatoes. My husband and I stopped going to Morning Glory because after about ten visits, we had only had one waitress who even looked at me. I know that my husband is good-looking and that his dreadlocks are long, but I would still like some acknowledgement that I exist when I'm paying for a meal. It got to the point where it happened so consistently and with so many of the staff that it made us both really uncomfortable. Even while I was pregnant, these girls were trying to make eyes at my husband. Just weird. Their food isn't quite good enough to make up for the awkwardness and disrespect. Park Street Cafe has way better food and service. We've found better food in town with much better service. read more

Leading up to brunch at Morning Glory I had a) Woken up at 4am on two hours of sleep b) Boarded a plane for Portland at 7 c) Driven two hours from Portland to Eugene I wasn't sure a vegan restaurant would be the right choice given my cranky-sleepy state. I could feel the "give me meat" voices speaking up, but my gracious host thought this would be a good place to give me that distinct Eugene flavor. And besides, she was driving. I ordered up biscuits and gravy with what I could only describe as a mushrooms gone mad. A thick, hot scoop of mushroom gravy completely coated the two biscuits. The unmistakable meaty scent of thyme wafted up from my plate. Sometimes all you need is a warm helping of gravy to put a smile on your face. If that wasn't enough, Lauri suggested we split an order of their special blueberry/marionberry waffle (no doubt fresh-picked). I gave in and drizzled real maple syrup over the waffle and berries, satisfying my insatiable desire for sweet breakfast foods. read more

I've been here a few times for breakfast and have always enjoyed the food. . Today I stopped by for lunch for my first time and got the cajun tempeh sandwhich. YUM! they put homemade aioli, iceburg lettuce, two thick slices of tomatoes, grilled onions, two cucumbers, and a thick piece of spicy tempeh in between two thick pieces of bread. I had to take off the cucumbers and iceburg lettuce because there was no way I could have fit that sandwich in my mouth. The plate also came with a small serving of field greens, shredded carrots, and cucumbers. The sandwich did get messy, so I ended up having to use a fork and knife half way in. Huge portions and a semi-lengthy wait time, but usually worth it. read more

I've had breakfasts all over this country during my travels. For the most part, it's "breakfast as usual" in most places. Morning Glory is beyond imagination! The menu is creative, and surprising. The ingredients are clean, organic and FRESH! Delicious and nourishing. You have to try The Muse. It's crazy good. A baked apple with most surprising and divine ingredients. Fresh made, on the premises bread and gluten free bread that puts Udi's to shame. I guarantee, you have not had a breakfast this delicious and this good for you in a long time......maybe ever. I'm not sure if this Morning Glory is affiliated with the Morning Glory in Ashland, OR or not. Either way, I did not care for this place much at all. I'll own up to assuming it was affiliated with the Ashland location and that the menu would likely be the same or similar. I was driving and didn't read the menu online or I would have passed. This is a great place if you are a vegetarian and/or vegan. I am neither of those and this restaurant did not agree with me at all. I had the chilaquiles with egg and cheese and not only was it very unappetizing to look at but it was just gross. The chips tasted like flaxseed or some kind of weird grain of chip - they were blue and just didn't have a great flavor. There were zero non-vegan options as far as cheese, cream cheese, sour cream etc. are all vegan. It would have been nice to at least have an option but now I know. This is not a restaurant I would personally return to. It just wasn't my thing. I was never asked if I wanted another coffee, service was friendly but slow-ish and I just didn't care for the food. Also, the restroom situation - there was a restroom sign near my table so I started to follow it and was stopped and told it was for employees only. I was directed to go around to the other side where there was a line. Once the line passed I ended up in the same restroom I was headed to in the first place. I didn't realize this until I exited and saw the kitchen and my table. Two of the staff members gave me that look like "we told you that was for employees only" - PUT AN EMPLOYEES ONLY SIGN ON THAT DOOR! Awesome place to get a vegan breakfast that actually has protein- not to mention tastes amazing!

Talk about a great place for vegetarians and vegans to eat. They have a great source of local goodies from which to choose from. Three of us (one completely meat eater) loved our plates here. I enjoy that they remind you that it's a phone free zone, meaning you're there to enjoy your freaking meal, not yell into your cell phone. They have mushroom biscuits and gravy that are to die for. Even their half portion is pretty decent size. I had their home made granola, which was wonderfully nutty and sweet at the same time. It had cinnamon and brown sugar. Yum. My hubby had the tofu scramble and our friend had the chilaquiles. Needless to say, we all left beyond full. We loved the atmosphere, being next to the Amtrak station and would stop by here again in a heart beat. read more

I went here for lunch carry out. Incredibly hipster spot and being the veggie that I am, I appreciated the vegetarian eclectic menu and the huge bike wheel outside. I opted for the stir fry with tofu (although you can get it with tempeh too). It was pretty good--not the best. I wish I had gotten something else, but everyone in the joint looked incredibly happy with their meals and was having a great time. Waiters and woman at the cash register were super helpful and nice. We were on a roadtrip and stopped in Eugene for the night. Being on the road, we've been having greasy breakfasts every morning and so this little cafe was just what we needed. The place is absolutely cute. The front of the place is very colourful and we had a great view sitting outside of the restaurant. I also liked the "no hate" and "no cellphone" signs. The food was great and reasonably priced. I got the "Three Sisters" which was loads of yummy vegetables covered with cheese and I got a nice soft fresh dill bun on the side. I liked how there were vegan options with everything (e.g. smoothies, butter), especially since a friend I was with was vegan. I wish there were more places like this! read more

I can't say enough good things about Morning Glory Cafe. The food is amazing- there is something there for everyone. You don't need to be vegetarian or vegan to enjoy this place, the food is that good. The staff is friendly and kind, and they are always willing to work with you if you have dietary needs. On September 10 I had one of the best breakfasts I've ever eaten at the Morning Glory Cafe in Eugene; it is one great restaurant. My only regret was that I could not eat more and try some of the other great looking breakfast and lunch entrees. Everything was outstanding from the food to the service and ambiance (I love the sign outside that says "Hate Free Zone"). I had the vegan gravy and biscuits, soy sausage, home fries, raspberry jam, and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice breakfast. My experience with Morning Glory Cafe is mainly as an Amtrak traveler, as they are located right next to the Eugene train station. I like to catch the early train up to Portland and stop in for a quick bite to eat here. Please keep in mind that this is a very breakfast-centric review, as I haven't had a chance to get lunch here yet. Since this is a breakfast-centric review, I'll start with the coffee. The coffee was very fresh every time I have been here, and has a very nice smoky character. I don't recall at the moment where they get their beans from, but it is definitely not your typical greasy spoon slop you get at so many other places. I take my coffee black, and really appreciate the fragrance and flavor of what they serve here at Morning Glory. Their claim to fame, as far as I'm concerned, is their vegan biscuits and gravy. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but I absolutely love this dish. The sauce, as the name implies, is strictly vegan: despite containing no dairy, it is nice and rich, and its flavoring comes mainly from mushrooms and green onion. You will also find find sizable slices of succulent shrooms in the sauce, which more than makes up for the type of texture us meat eaters expect from a good B&G. For a little extra, you can even protein it up with add-ons like tofu, tempeh, or soy-sage. I recommend the tempeh if you're getting the vegan biscuits and gravy. Morning Glory has a very good breakfast selection, and if you are a vegetarian or vegan I would recommend this place over any other diner style breakfast. This is also a mandatory stop for any early morning train travelers who want a hearty sit-down breakfast in close proximity to the station. read more

I've been to Morning Glory a number of times, but my most recent visit was by far the worst. My partner and I walked in at 2:30PM for lunch and the first thing the host did (before even looking us in the eye or asking us what we would like) was look at the clock. It was clear that she wanted to go home, but seeing as they don't close until 3:30PM, she told us to sit wherever. We chose a small table across from the cash register. I ordered the Luna and my partner had the Blue Moon. The table beside us was empty, but the wait staff decided to use it to tip each other out (leaving money freely open on the table). Then, the waitstaff decided to leave a big bin of unwashed, dirty dishes (with food scraps still on the plates) on the table beside us for the rest of our visit. This was disgusting to eat beside. It was clear the wait staff just wanted to get out of there, even though the restaurant wasn't closed yet. The icing on the cake was when my food arrived and I immediately noticed a long hair winding its way through my potato salad. My partner removed the hair for me, but honestly my meal was disgusting after that. What with the hair, the gross dishes sitting on the table beside us, the dirty money lying around while the waitstaff tipped each other out, and the indifference of the waitstaff, I was completely dissatisfied and will likely not visit again for a long time. Be warned that the waitstaff consider their time more important than yours. They could care less if you're there; they just want your money and then they want to go home. This is not the type of place that makes you feel welcome as a diner. In my experience, if you're looking for vegan/vegetarian fare, the Cornbread Café is much nicer. read more

Great coffee & food, cozy space, and awesome support for all kinds of local activities. I beileve this is where they used to hold the youth poetry read... awesome! Tons of delicious vegan/vegetarian selections. This cafe was also generous enough to donate their space when a friend threw a benefit show so I could get my broken tooth fixed. Such nice people!! Just don't go if you're on a tight schedule... short lunch breaks are right out, as the service can be a bit sluggish depending on the time and day. read more

Crunch! :-) With a sticker on the cash register that says 'KEEP EUGENE WEIRD," you can't help but oblige. A terrific brunch joint, particularly for the vegan folks. They offer delicious alternative to eggs (like a hashbrown "omelet" filled with delights inside), and my pile of potatoes with grilled vegetables and herbed tofu "sour cream" was a little bit of heaven on a plate. Was visiting Eugene for the first time this weekend and my friend, who went to U of O really twisted my arm to get me here. I normally really kinda hate all breakfast foods, but this place had an awesome and interesting menu! Lots of really healthy options and they're not totally vegan so they have eggs as well! I got the chilaquiles and it was incredible, the tofu sour cream was so delicious with a great texture, a little thicker than the regular kind but I didn't mind that at all! They also have a big pastry case in the front with all sorts of yummy treats, some are even vegan! My favorite thing though is their merch!
