    Homemade Meatloaf
    Ashley L.

Delivery was great and the food was just what i wanted. The mushroom Gravy was enough for the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf wasnt dry either so that was a plus They had the side orders come correctly as well. Also had the french onion soup but did't get a picture. Will be ordering from here again.

After running the NYC Marathon earlier in the day, I stopped in here for dinner. Since I was by myself, I found an empty seat at the counter and ordered their steak & eggs with white toast and coffee. It was a pretty chill spot to get a decent meal. I always like places that let's you order breakfast food for dinner. The entire time that I was there, I saw that they were very busy with to-go orders. Even though they were busy, I still received good service.

I've been here twice already the breakfast is great I recommend steak with the home fires. The restaurant gives mothers cooking and it feels very home inside. The service is ok, but I would recommend

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and easily got a table for 2. The service was super quick and the staff is very attentive! The inside feels just like a diner and it's super cozy. We ordered the s'mores waffles, strawberry waffles and grilled chicken triple decker sandwich. The s'mores waffles were absolutely incredible and surprisingly not heavy at all! It had the perfect ratios of chocolate and marshmallows but still had a nice crunch. The strawberry waffles were so fresh tasting and a nice complement to the chocolatey s'mores waffles. The grilled chicken sandwich was also delicious and the fries were absolutely incredible! Would definitely return!

A great little cafe. Service is prompt, prices are good, selection is plentiful. I really enjoyed my breakfast here. It's a traditional feeling cafe that always filled with locals and tourists alike.

Food/Drinks: I truthfully thought the food was mediocre. I've definitely had better and juicer burgers, potatoes, etc. at other diners/cafes. It was the only place we found that could seat our huge group at the time, so it was ok for what it was. The food was still good but just can't compare to the other places I've visited. Service: The service was great. The waitress we had was super sweet and checked up on us often. It was slightly slower service given how full the place was, so getting our bill did take some time. Ambiance: The overall place was incredibly crowded so walking through the aisles wasn't the best. But the vibe was pretty nice and also cozy. I can see why people like coming here.

Cold Frittata. Hard fresh mozzarella .

I got delivery from Grubhub, and it took a very long time. Don't know whose fault it was, holiday weekend so there is no traffic. It says the delivery person works for the restaurant. Twenty blocks, 2nd Ave to Lexington, no excuse. I placed the order at 10:32am and it was delivered at 11:40. When I called after almost an hour, the manager said, "you are so far away, it takes a long time". A Frittata ($18.50) served cold is not very tasty, especially with a solid covering of mozzarella on top. But my girlfriend's scrambled eggs were delivered not cold. This restaurant is obviously making money hand over fist and does not care about basic service. At lease Grubhub refunded me the price of the cold Frittata. I'll never order from here again.

Morning Star Cafe is an easy Five Stars. My daughter and I love to have brunch when we are in the neighborhood. The service is quick but we don't feel rushed. Our order always comes out timely! I love the selection because they have my favorite foods. Here's the photos from a couple times we visited! I'm definitely recommending. I'm surprised there's not more reviews.

I ordered the Belgian waffle and added whipped cream, bananas, and strawberries, and it was absolutely phenomenal. 10 out of 10 recommend! My husband got an avocado toast and also loved his! The service was SO fast, even at 9am on a Saturday morning only 4 days before Christmas. Highly recommend!

The midnight munchies were coming fast and furious after we saw "The Music Man" at the Winter Garden. It was a high-energy revival that had Jamie W. and me in marching band mode after the last curtain call past 11PM. I found this diner on Yelp through the "Open Now" filter and noticed it was a straight chute on 50th from Broadway to Second. We could handle the twenty-minute walk. We were just surprised nightlife in Midtown East was still percolating at that hour, which included this low-key 24/7 diner where most of the seats were taken by night crawlers of various kinds fully invested in their meals. Believe it or not, both of us were interested in just getting salads, and impressively, they had sixteen different ones on the menu as well as nineteen "Diet Delights". We were pleased there was evidence of mindful eating, although just how mindful was debatable. Jamie ordered the $19 Village Salad, which was really a Greek salad with an abundance of grilled chicken on top (photo: https://bit.ly/3R8P3ug). It was what he expected. I went with what I thought would be a non-controversial selection, the $19 Chef Salad. In an interesting move, they rolled up all the deli meats - turkey, roast beef, ham, and Swiss cheese - into a huge roll and sliced them into thick roulades (photo: https://bit.ly/3AvNi3a). The salad was covered with them, and in an alternative universe where I have a bottomless stomach, I would've welcomed such a generous approach. However, it was way too overwhelming for my appetite at the midnight hour, so I ended up leaving most of it on the plate. I'm making note of this for future reference though, as you never know when you need a salad fit for Jabba the Hutt. Listen, we had no complaints about the service as they must deal with a variety of characters at that hour. The staff was polite and attentive - which is more than I can say about some of the rowdier customers who entered in debatable mental states. FOOD - 3 stars...rather interesting chef salad, I would have preferred a lighter touch AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...pretty mellow considering the midnight hour customer base SERVICE - 4 stars...they served pretty quietly and effectively TOTAL - 3 stars...when I need a huge salad in Manhattan after midnight, I know where to go RELATED - Hungry in Manhattan? After running a couple of errands while waiting for the table to be ready, we were seated outside at the patio after an hour and 45 minutes. We ordered the famous honey butter pancakes, the korean wings, and the breakfast sandwich with hash brown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense
