Rating is for the area/there are other diners I prefer that are a lot further away. I have been to this local diner a small handful of times, mostly for breakfast and less commonly for lunch. For this reason, and regardless of the massive menu, I've only had eggs and other similar breakfast/lunch options. The service in general is friendly and fine, and the inside ranges from being very crowded on weekend mornings to sparsely crowded and quiet on some weekdays. All of the breakfast options come with "Idaho" home fries along with a selection of toast and jelly. The home fries are decent with a bit of crisp, though I wish they had a few more veggies in them. I enjoyed the $17.50 Morning Star Omelette previously, with that omelette including spinach, feta, and tomato. The three-egg omelette was properly cooked, the feta added some saltiness, and it felt decently healthy and fresh from the spinach and tomato. This was easily my favorite thing I've had here. The Eggs Florentine with two poached eggs on toasted English muffins, chopped spinach, and feta for $15.95 is one of their fun spins on Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was decent, and the eggs were properly cooked, but the dish was maybe a bit wet from the spinach combined with the hollandaise. I would recommend the Frittata much less for the same price, as it lacks the proper texture at the ends. Also, the mozzarella on top didn't really melt properly into it, as it was really more of a congealed glob. This isn't the best diner in the world, but it's decent. In terms of traditional diners, I would prefer Joe Jr. if I were to pick one out, but that's nowhere close to me. Perfectly decent if you're in the area and essentially a much better version of the closed Palace Diner nearby or the terrible Moonstruck, with Tramway being a bit pricier. read more

Kind of fun to find a place that's open 24/7--not that we went in the middle of the night, but you never know! We came here for breakfast, and it definitely has that classic diner feel, both in the decor and the menu. Our server was friendly, answered all of our questions, and was able to accommodate a few requests, which we appreciated. The omelettes were a little disappointing--they came out pretty small and honestly looked a bit sad. The pancakes, on the other hand, were really good! They were soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and easily got a table for 2. The service was super quick and the staff is very attentive! The inside feels just like a diner and it's super cozy. We ordered the s'mores waffles, strawberry waffles and grilled chicken triple decker sandwich. The s'mores waffles were absolutely incredible and surprisingly not heavy at all! Food/Drinks: I truthfully thought the food was mediocre. I've definitely had better and juicer burgers, potatoes, etc. at other diners/cafes. I got delivery from Grubhub, and it took a very long time. Don't know whose fault it was, holiday weekend so there is no traffic. It says the delivery person works for the restaurant. Twenty blocks, 2nd Ave to Lexington, no excuse. I placed the order at 10:32am and it was delivered at 11:40. When I called after almost an hour, the manager said, "you are so far away, it takes a long time". A Frittata ($18.50) served cold is not very tasty, especially with a solid covering of mozzarella on top. But my girlfriend's scrambled eggs were delivered not cold. This restaurant is obviously making money hand over fist and does not care about basic service. At lease Grubhub refunded me the price of the cold Frittata. My family and I ate at this charming ittle cafe while visiting NYC last week. it was close to our hotel and not too far of a walk from Rockefeller center area. We were immediately greeted when we entered and encouraged to sit anywhere. The menu was quite large with lots of great breakfast, lunch, dinner and salad options. Breakfast is served all day here! We ordered an Omelette, Waffle, salad and a side of grapefruit. All the food was absolutely delicious! The staff was very friendly and service-oriented. The midnight munchies were coming fast and furious after we saw "The Music Man" at the Winter Garden. It was a high-energy revival that had Jamie W. and me in marching band mode after the last curtain call past 11PM. I found this diner on Yelp through the "Open Now" filter and noticed it was a straight chute on 50th from Broadway to Second. We could handle the twenty-minute walk. We were just surprised nightlife in Midtown East was still percolating at that hour, which included this low-key 24/7 diner where most of the seats were taken by night crawlers of various kinds fully invested in their meals. Believe it or not, both of us were interested in just getting salads, and impressively, they had sixteen different ones on the menu as well as nineteen "Diet Delights". We were pleased there was evidence of mindful eating, although just how mindful was debatable. Jamie ordered the $19 Village Salad, which was really a Greek salad with an abundance of grilled chicken on top (photo: https://bit.ly/3R8P3ug). It was what he expected. I went with what I thought would be a non-controversial selection, the $19 Chef Salad. In an interesting move, they rolled up all the deli meats - turkey, roast beef, ham, and Swiss cheese - into a huge roll and sliced them into thick roulades (photo: https://bit.ly/3AvNi3a). The salad was covered with them, and in an alternative universe where I have a bottomless stomach, I would've welcomed such a generous approach. However, it was way too overwhelming for my appetite at the midnight hour, so I ended up leaving most of it on the plate. I'm making note of this for future reference though, as you never know when you need a salad fit for Jabba the Hutt. Listen, we had no complaints about the service as they must deal with a variety of characters at that hour. The staff was polite and attentive - which is more than I can say about some of the rowdier customers who entered in debatable mental states. Staying at the Barclays Intercontinental on East 48th and rather than just coffee or sweet buns nearby, we decided to walk 4 blocks to 2nd avenue which is full of cafes and restaurants and tried Morning Star which has great reviews for such a small restaurant with both inside and outside seating . The waiter Kevin was quick and efficient. I had 2 eggs over easy with bacon and hash browns (and toast) and my wife singly slice of French toast with sausages (she ate my potatoes) Food was quickly served with coffee and orange juice and breakfast was delicious with a constant stream of customers some waiting some sitting outside. Heads-up like many restaurants the restrooms are downstairs and it's a steep flight of steps but clean. We plan to visit tomorrow before heading back to DC. read more

We have fond memories of this diner, a place we've previously visited with family. There is a long counter that runs almost the length of the restaurant and individual red vinyl booths throughout.
