We were greeted when we walked in. Friendly staff. The food was reasonably priced. I liked that it was a small mom/pop restaurant vs a chain restaurant. The total for everything was around $60.

Delivery was great and the food was just what i wanted. The mushroom Gravy was enough for the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf wasnt dry either so that was a plus They had the side orders come correctly as well. Also had the french onion soup but did't get a picture. Will be ordering from here again.

After running the NYC Marathon earlier in the day, I stopped in here for dinner. Since I was by myself, I found an empty seat at the counter and ordered their steak & eggs with white toast and coffee. It was a pretty chill spot to get a decent meal. I always like places that let's you order breakfast food for dinner. The entire time that I was there, I saw that they were very busy with to-go orders. Even though they were busy, I still received good service.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and easily got a table for 2. The service was super quick and the staff is very attentive! The inside feels just like a diner and it's super cozy. We ordered the s'mores waffles, strawberry waffles and grilled chicken triple decker sandwich. The s'mores waffles were absolutely incredible and surprisingly not heavy at all! It had the perfect ratios of chocolate and marshmallows but still had a nice crunch. The strawberry waffles were so fresh tasting and a nice complement to the chocolatey s'mores waffles. The grilled chicken sandwich was also delicious and the fries were absolutely incredible! Would definitely return!

A great little cafe. Service is prompt, prices are good, selection is plentiful. I really enjoyed my breakfast here. It's a traditional feeling cafe that always filled with locals and tourists alike.

Food/Drinks: I truthfully thought the food was mediocre. I've definitely had better and juicer burgers, potatoes, etc. at other diners/cafes. It was the only place we found that could seat our huge group at the time, so it was ok for what it was. The food was still good but just can't compare to the other places I've visited. Service: The service was great. The waitress we had was super sweet and checked up on us often. It was slightly slower service given how full the place was, so getting our bill did take some time. Ambiance: The overall place was incredibly crowded so walking through the aisles wasn't the best. But the vibe was pretty nice and also cozy. I can see why people like coming here.

I got delivery from Grubhub, and it took a very long time. Don't know whose fault it was, holiday weekend so there is no traffic. It says the delivery person works for the restaurant. Twenty blocks, 2nd Ave to Lexington, no excuse. I placed the order at 10:32am and it was delivered at 11:40. When I called after almost an hour, the manager said, "you are so far away, it takes a long time". A Frittata ($18.50) served cold is not very tasty, especially with a solid covering of mozzarella on top. But my girlfriend's scrambled eggs were delivered not cold. This restaurant is obviously making money hand over fist and does not care about basic service. At lease Grubhub refunded me the price of the cold Frittata. I'll never order from here again.

Morning Star Cafe is an easy Five Stars. My daughter and I love to have brunch when we are in the neighborhood. The service is quick but we don't feel rushed. Our order always comes out timely! I love the selection because they have my favorite foods. Here's the photos from a couple times we visited! I'm definitely recommending. I'm surprised there's not more reviews.

Got…read morethere around 8:50am and there was a huge line at the door with no proper delineation or signage of how someone with a reservation should approach the staff or form a line or anything. Was very confusing and didn't make sense to stand in the huge line if you have a reservation. I walked in (the door was open and a few employees were standing around). I approached someone holding an iPad who looked like the host and asked what I was supposed to do. They said to stand in the long line. I mentioned I had a reservation, but they insisted I should stand in the long line. I was worried standing in the line was going to be a mistake because once the clock strikes 9am and they start letting people in we'd be all the way at the back of the line and get missed or not hear any announcements about people with reservations (it's very loud in the area, especially due to a train passing by every few minutes). So I make my wife stand in the line just in case and I stand near the front in case they make an announcement for people with reservations. Guess what, the clock strikes 9am and they make no announcement or anything. They just start taking people waiting in line (who don't have a reservation) with no regard for people who made a reservation. I had to interrupt the host at the podium for them to even notice me standing nearby and mention I had a reservation. The host then kind of had some attitude, but we were seated. I was so surprised that after being open for so long now and being so hype they don't know how to properly manage their reservations. Or maybe they just don't care?? Well if I listened to the employee that told me to wait in the line, I would have totally missed the boat and been disappointed. They would have just let in all the people waiting in line and the restaurant would have been full by the time I got to the front. I'm glad I had a backup plan in this case, but I was so disappointed in their way of handling the situation. Basically if you have a reservation, especially at 9am when they open, DON'T wait in the long line and miss your reservation. Wait by the podium and interrupt them when they start taking people from the line and mention you have a reservation. Unfortunately they didn't do a good job of having a proper process for reservations :( Super sad especially because of all the hoops you have to jump through to even get lucky enough to make a reservation via RESY. Once we sat down, the waitstaff there was not very friendly or welcoming either. The guy that took our order was the one that have me the wrong information to stand in line. He even had attitude while taking our order and we felt rushed. As for the food, of course we wanted to try the famous pancakes. I will say, for the novelty they are worth trying, especially if you like the honey flavor. I personally like the maple syrup flavor more. The texture of the pancake is super unique, it's dense and fluffy, but the edges have a nice crisp. Was happy that they served it hot and fresh. But they are inconsistent on how much syrup they put on the pancake. Mine was swimming in syrup and my wife's had a moderate amount. I would have preferred less syrup as it was way too much the way they served it to me. Overall, not my favorite pancake ever, but I understand why people may enjoy it. 3/5 stars. The egg sandwich we got was pretty pathetic though. The flavors were super basic and it just felt clumpy and heavy. 2/5 stars. We also got brewed coffee and asked for half and half, but were given milk instead. Coffee ultimately didn't taste good at all. What diner doesn't have half and half for their coffee?? 1/5 stars. Overall, I'd say there are better places for breakfast in NYC with better service. Come here to try the pancake if you must, but beware they don't really care about you as a customer.

I honestly…read moredid not expect to be this impressed, but this ended up being one of the best burgers I have ever had -- and quite possibly the best burger of my life. I ordered the burger with cheese, and everything about it was perfect. The burger itself was THICK, incredibly juicy, and cooked beautifully. You could immediately tell that the meat was high quality, and knowing that they use Creekstone beef made it even better. The flavor was rich and beefy without being overwhelming, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. The patty had that perfect combination of a beautifully cooked exterior while still being extremely juicy and tender inside. And the bread deserves its own paragraph! The brioche-style bun was excellent. It was soft, slightly buttery, and substantial enough to hold the thick patty without falling apart or becoming soggy. It complemented the burger perfectly rather than taking away from the meat. The combination of the juicy Creekstone beef, melted cheese, and that excellent brioche-style bread was honestly phenomenal. What really stood out to me was how substantial the burger was. This wasn't one of those thin burgers where you finish it and immediately feel like you could eat another one. It was thick, hearty, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. Every bite felt like you were getting exactly what you want from a great burger. The fries were also excellent. I really appreciated that they weren't overly fried or greasy. They had a great texture and were crispy without feeling heavy or excessively oily. Sometimes fries can completely overwhelm a meal because they're so fried, but these were much more balanced and paired perfectly with the burger. Overall, Friedman absolutely exceeded my expectations. The burger, especially with the cheese, was outstanding, the Creekstone beef was incredibly flavorful, the brioche-style bun was excellent, and the fries were the perfect accompaniment. If you're in NYC and love burgers, this is a must-go-to. I would absolutely order this burger again and would highly recommend Friedman to anyone looking for a thick, juicy, high-quality burger. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever

Aside from that, we had a fantastic experience here at Friedmans Herald Square near Penn Station. The atmosphere is super sweet and cozy. The restaurant was empty when we first walked in, but the second we sat down, it completely packed up! The waiter was very friendly, and even though they weren't able to split the check at the table, they did provide an itemized receipt to make figuring it out easy. The food was great overall--the Mac & Cheese bites and the corn were especially good! We also tried the cheesecake and molten cake. Plus, the neighbors sitting next to us were so sweet. Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense

There was no line and I was seated immediately, but it was already packed (which indicates the food is top quality). Egg Cream: This chilled beverage has a beautiful appearance, especially the thick foam at the top. The ratio of seltzer, milk, and chocolate syrup were stirred perfectly. It was highly satisfying and a perfect alternative for a traditional breakfast drink. If you are not desiring the chocolate flavor, this specialty drink is also served in vanilla. BBC Omelette: This breakfast plate may have the same initials as the 24-hour news channel, but there is no relation whatsoever. This omelette was stuffed with broccoli, bacon, and cheddar cheese. These are not typically the toppings I order with an omelette, but I was feeling adventurous. It was a wise choice to explore this specialty plate because it surpasses my taste buds by a long shot. I never would have guessed broccoli and melted cheese taste well combined with an egg. A side of hash browns and toast is included. They were the backbone to the breakfast plate. In addition to a great meal, the service was impeccable. After I was seated, multiple servers checked up on me to make sure I wanted a drink. They always passed by and refilled my water glass.
