First timer at this salon. They were pretty busy, but had plenty of people on hand taking care of customers. So, I was taken right away for a pedicure. For $27, I'd say it was a good pedicure. The woman that took care of me, didn't rush, she asked questions and seemed very detailed. The one thing is, the pumice use was extremely fast. I'm giving two stars because the nail work itself is good, I have been coming to this place since theu opened under the new name, but the way appointments are handled is unacceptable. This is not the first time this has happened. I made an appointment for 2 PM when I originally wanted something in the morning time, my tech was busy so they asked me if 2 pm was ok, only to arrive and be told that my nail tech was busy. Today was especially upsetting because it's my birthday, and I planned my day around this appointment. I was furious to be turned away after accommodating their schedule. It's extremely frustrating when your time isn't respected, especially when you've booked in advance. What is the point of taking your phone number down when you book the appointment they would have called me and said not come in or change the appointment before I wasted my time going there. Unfortunately, this experience has made me decide not to return. Good work doesn't make up for poor scheduling and lack of consideration for clients. read more

the first time step into morningstar's nails was the beginning of this year when i came back from texas. my neighbor always has amazing nails and asked where she went since im in the look out for a new nail tech that does gel-x and she recommended me morning star and refer me to susan. the atmosphere is amazing and client service is as amazing as the spa. i always love to by appointment since i like to plan ahead, and match up our availability. i definitely recommend. nails last up to 2 months. however i'm the type of person that likes to get fresh new sets every 3 weeks. definitely recommend. read more

I came to this nail salon for the first time as I booked based on primarily positive reviews. Unfortunately, I had the complete opposite experience so I wanted to warn anyone else trying the salon for the first time. I arrived at 11:15 for a gel fill-in. It started off fine, with one of the techs filing off the old polish within the first few minutes. Then it all went downhill. The salon was not even busy but they had me wait for the manager to do my gel. After waiting 40 minutes, she showed up and started. The entire time, she stopped to look at security cameras, to get up and take payments, to answer the phone, and to stop and blast personal calls on her speakerphone. Due to this I did not leave until 1:30. Over two hours, for a fill-in!!!! I was already annoyed, but the cherry on top, is their online platform advertises $45 but they charged me $65, even after I brought this up this discrepancy. Used to be really good when we first started coming here and then somehow the quality of material that they use is nothing like how it used to be. My nails tend to break and are brittle and they don't last longer than a week. the ladies at work there are very nice but the products that they use aren't good. Love the new decor and they're super clean! They have machine to sanitize. I've been going to them for many many years at the older location which was two doors down. I tried many other location still end up coming back to Susan! nothing beats the cleanliness and hygienic of this place and friendly staff. They have lots of color selection. My favorite place to unwind. I had SNS on my nails, Green tea spa pedicure and a shoulder massage. My nail lady Joyce is the best. I've been a customer for 9 years. They are serious about sanitation and use quality products. Susan the owner is great to her customers and very kind. May, Linda & Janet are also great. The salon definitely looks nice but I hated it from the minute I stepped out of the salon and noticed what a terrible job she did, but I wanted to give her the benefit of doubt by waiting a week to see how long it lasts. First, maybe because of how big the salon is, but it looks like a sweat shop with assembly line of workers just working nonstop. There was no one waiting and still other employees available but my lady rushed thru the process, cut my cuticle and I bled. Did not clean up her work when the polish went out of nails, so I had a lot of polish built up on my cuticles that chipped off in about 2 days. Now a week later most of the polish is lifting off my nails. My usual gel manicures can last me about 3 weeks. This place is a no go for me even though I might've just had a bad one. I'm very happy that I found this salon. This is my first experience with SNS + designs, and kind of nervous. Vivian did the filing, dip power, and base coat. The owner, Susan did the top coat + designs. They were both very professional and patient with me. I felt so bad that we had to stay way pass closing time. They were patient and took their time to match to my design (inspiration) as close as possible. My nails came out great! They even threw in a light massage. I went to this place to get a gel pedicure with my sister, they said they could take us so we both sat side by side. Her nail tech came started on her nails and literally finished in 25 min(she was really rough)meanwhile I waited a good 20 min before they started. The least they could have done is say they don't have time for both we would have gone somewhere else, 5th ave is full of such spots. Then I asked for a spa french gel pedicure and she quoted me 80 dollars which in my opinion is insane. The price breakdown was (55 for spa pedicure, 15 for gel and 10 for the french). I decided not to do it because honestly its too expensive. Ive gotten this combo multiple times in other places and have never paid more than 65. I decide on a gel french pedicure. When we get to the french I ask for a curtain french instead of a normal french and she decides to add another 5 dollars for the curtain. To which I said no only because I felt like I was being scammed the whole time. (Besides waiting 20 minutes) I would not recommend this place. There are so many better spots around.
