    Crisp bread pancake
    James L.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by parking right in front of it. There are pictures of some of their dishes on the window, and some items I've never tried before. That made me decide to come here after running errands nearby. Early afternoon, around 1:30 it wasn't busy, but had a steady flow of solo diners and small parties. Apparently they're busy during the mornings, as a big portion of the menu are breakfast items. I heard the lady tell another table several things were sold out. Food: Beijing zha jiang mein. Good chew on the noodles, with the savory bean paste some fresh veggies. Not bad, and better with their hot chili oil. 3.5/5 Layered pancake with beef, came out hot and crispy. The pancake was crisp and a bit oily. Not much depth of flavor from the beef but also not bad. 3/5 Biscuit with tenderloin, with cumin chicken. Very tender chicken with nice cumin flavor. The biscuit was soft and fluffy. I just wish it was a flaky shell instead, that would've given it better texture. 4/5 Crispy pancake. It's like an egg pancake with a sweet sauce and flaky fried layers of dough. I ate the fried crispy dough by itself and it wasn't good. Tasted like very old oil, so we ended up taking it all out and ate the rest. 2.5/5. The service by the lady with glasses was very pleasant and attentive. The ambiance was fine. Not modern nor dated. We went there after their morning rush so several things we wanted were sold out. The items we did try were fairly decent based on our palate. But they seem to have regular customers that know what they want when they walk in. It's a 3.5 for my experience, but can't really round up to 4. Side note: Their name in Chinese is pretty catchy, and it's a clever play on words

Came in to order for breakfast to-go. They spoke Mandarin but I was able to communicate in broken Mandarin and pointing to the numbers on the English menu. Ordered #25 Taiwanese purple rice roll, #4 Youtiao (deep fried dough stick), #38 Juicy pan fried pork buns, and #7 Ice soy milk with sugar added. Everything was fresh and delicious and my order was enough to share between 2-3 people. They finished preparing my order in about 15 minutes. Restaurant was clean and had indoor seating good for small to larger parties of 6-8 people. Friendly staff. Free street parking right in front of the restaurant if you can find a spot. Highly recommend.

Got in around 11 am on a Saturday and there was still plenty of seating. Felt like a mom and pop shop no music in the background. The server was friendly and got our order in shortly and food came out pretty quickly. Beef roll was solid nice and flaky on the outside not overly oily which was nice . The purple rice I really enjoyed I'm used to the dry white rice but the purple rice was soft and perfect with the dry pork sung and friend Chinese donut in the centers. If in the area I probably come back and try out some other dishes

This is my first time checking out this place in Monterey Park to get breakfast to go. I ordered leek & egg pockets (4 pcs) for $9.49. Chinese leek & egg pockets (or called chives pockets) are pan-fried, semi-circle-shaped, flat dumplings filled with Chinese leek (chives) and scrambled eggs. The portions were reasonable and they had enough leek but the outer layer was not crispy and a bit hard to chew. The service was fast because I ordered by phone so my order was ready for pick up when I got there. The ambiance inside was modern and welcoming. I will give them a second chance and dine in there someday.

    Leak pancakes 4 pieces

Cumin Lamb Chow Mein (little Spicy for Americans), but delicious. the pork coin pot stickers ( if no coins will have better taste). The deep fried dough sticker burned, not tasty. The leek egg pockets are taste good even though I donot like the noodles inside. Overall their food have good flavor

Wanted a quick breakfast before our flight and everything in the area didn't open until 11 AM until we found this spot! We ordered a Beijing style soybean paste noodles, purple rice rolls, beef rolls, and pan fried dumplings. I had the noodles and a rice roll and I thought the noodles were delicious. The noodle texture was very Q, however, the paste to noodle ratio was a bit off so it was difficult to mix. The purple rice roll was a great snack, and it had my favorite you tiao (chinese doughnut) and suan cai (pickled mustard greens) inside. A delicious start to the day!

    Cold soy milk

Loved their shrimp chow mien. The noodles are handmade and their cold soy milk is freshly made and not that sweet. Egg pancake was decent, the best that I have tasted so far. Xiao long bao was ok, had better elsewhere. Only negative thing I have to say is the dining atmosphere. I'm not sure what system they have for placing customers orders but you can hear the workers at the front yelling to the kitchen in mandarin what orders are being placed and if it was dine in or to go order. It was a constant repeating pattern and you can also hear the workers in the kitchen yelling at each other too. Kitchen lacked structure and organization. Wasn't a pleasant dine in experience and there was no music. Just awkward silence and multiple customers looking towards the kitchen listening to the ruckus. I would still come back but I would get to go. Their parking lot is also very small. Only fits a few cars or you have to find street parking.

Clean Taiwanese breakfast restaurant. Card payments are accepted. Food was good, but their soya milk tasted burnt.

This was next to. Table of 10 where each individual was just about shouting to each other as their normal tone. I did not like the ordering process which is a change from regilar dimsum places where people walk around with carts of good stuff. You have to scan a QR code to get to the menu so you don't really see what you're getting other that the picture you see on your phone. This place by the way is way pricier than actually better dimsum restaurants. So the food came out.. Pork spare ribs w/ blackbean sauce - the meat was chewy, almost tough to eat, and with a generous hint of MSG. Taro with chinese sausage - bland taro base, stale topping of supposed to be ground chinese sausage. Chicken feet - overcooked Water spinach - pale green, unfresh taste, two bites and I had yo give it up. Salt and pepper pork chop - this is ordinary at best compared to places in Monterey Park and Rowland and Hacienda Heights. Beef Chow fun - the only thing we mostly ate. Shrimp and pork siumai - I was so disappointed I list my appetite by this time. Needless to say, we felt like we wasted our $100 plus tax and tip..$120.00 + , for two prople for dimsum. We left the taro and water spinach and took home more than we ate because maybe I can tweak the left overs at home. Have I talked about the service yet? I will not because it was almost non- existent. I get it's Sunday lunch, but really? We never got the water we asked for but the oolong tea was decent. Again, very disappointing experience. I would have taken bad service with good food but bad service and bad food? One star and not a damn little spark more. Get in the game Lunasia in Alhambra!

The crust was super flaky, and custard was velvety smooth and not too sweet. We were so tempted to get seconds but we were too full. -The bean curd wrapped with shrimp and pork was on point as well. -The chicken feet didn't really meet expectations. The siu mai and veggie dumplings were both solid. I didn't try the bitter melon or turnip cakes because I don't like the taste of either, but I was happy to see them available. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

Yes, that's how long this place has survived & for good reason. They were the first to serve fresh & tasty dim sum to-go for a reasonable price at good value due to their big portion sizes. However, my son & I, went there recently & ordered the usual Siu Mai, Baked BBQ Bun & Steamed BBQ bun. We usually call in our orders in advance to avoid the long wait outside but this time things seem off. Firstly, the lady cannot understand our order & we were put on hold while there seem to be a banter between her & a gentlemen inside for sometime. Secondly, when we finally got there & picked up the order, one of the items given was wrong. Instead of Char Siu Bao, we had Har Gow. So, we waited for another 15 minutes more to get the correct item. When we got home & opened the bags, the Siu Mai had gotten smaller & the worst part is that one of the Baked BBQ Bun had a cockroach pressed on the outside layer of the bun (see picture). I tried to contact the owner first to let them know so it can be corrected before posting it here but no one called. I know that this can affect their "safety food rating" & thus their sales. But if there was indeed a change in management or ownership, they need to fix the sizing portion & bug problem so they could live up to the history & expectations of their loyal clientele.
