Wow, well this kinda late since we been coming here but somehow never - ever leave a review. I finally figure out why. We always ate so much that I passed out. Smoke duck - Amazing Shanghainese wontons- damn good Crabs Roe noodles - really really good Shanghai Fried buns - legit must have Tofu's soup - yep another one to go please Pancakes with smoke ducks - go for it Egg rolls - looks and taste as good as pictured then some Scallion noodles - yup must have too Just realized that I forgot to take pictures on some food again with forgetfulness that happened when you are at Auntie's Qiu kitchen. Trust me. It's soooooo good and see their ratings, 4 stars for Chinese kitchen in Alhambra area is like a Michelin starred restaurant in NY

Wow, this spot is definitely a must try! Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. They have a waitlist so you can always walk around and check out the area. The food was all so good. Their breakfast pancake, mochi fried donut and dumplings were super delicious. Overall, no misses on any of the dishes.

I'd imagine this is about as close as you can get to traditional Shanghainese food in the 626. The ambiance and decor felt eclectic yet casual, and the service style leaned very fast-casual. You order through a QR code and the food comes out pretty quickly. Pan-Fried Pork Buns - 8/10 expected these to feel a bit heavy as an appetizer, but they were surprisingly balanced. Super flavorful with great texture and a juicy filling. Crab & Pork XLB - 8.5/10 super flavorful and the dumplings were huge. The crab flavor wasn't super prominent but the size and overall taste made up for it. I'd definitely order these again. Chinese Donut + Black Sesame Mochi - 6/10 love Chinese donuts, mochi and black sesame individually, but this combination was a bit too overwhelming and heavy for me considering most of what we ordered was carb heavy. Popcorn Chicken - 9/10 easily one of the best and better popcorn chicken I've had to date. The chicken was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned and the perfect crispiness. I asked for sweet and sour sauce and the waiter seemed a little confused by the request, but he still brought it out for me. Honestly, I'd come back for this alone. Scallion Oil Dry Noodles - 8/10 simple but really satisfying. The flavors reminded me of Mi Goreng (Indomie), and it paired perfectly with the popcorn chicken. I'd come back for this combo alone. Jellyfish with Vinegar - 2/10 sucks, I wouldn't recommend this at all. The jellyfish lacked flavor and the texture was extremely tough. Not sure how they missed on this dish but it was a letdown. Overall, the menu is extensive with plenty of variety and there are still so many dishes I'd love to come back and try.

Made the 40 minute drive from Long Beach for lunch yesterday and it was so worth it! First, parking is available across the street in a parking garage that is free for 4 hours. It's behind the buildings across from Auntie Qiu, but a short walk over. Upon arriving around 12:30pm, we put our name down on the check-in iPad and walked down the street to the farmer's market to kill time. Our total wait time was only 25-30 minutes. Order at the table using a QR code, with option to add more dishes as you want to. You can pay on the same ordering website, but our server came to us to take our payment. We ordered the Pan Fried Pork Buns, the Crab Soup Dumpling, and the Curry Beef Noodle Soup. The Pork Buns have soup inside as well. I was not expecting that but it was so good! We ended up ordering a second serving of the Pan Fried Pork Buns to take home. The Crab Soup Dumplings were also delicious. The Curry Beef Noodle Soup was good but not a stand-out like the two previously mentioned dishes. This restaurant is busy and lively, for obvious reasons. The dumplings and buns are amazing!

Cute literary environment! Even Einstein was present. Maybe this place is an intersection where science meets history. We wanted to try EVERYTHING! Our kind server said, "You already ordered a lot. Save some for next time!" Every morsel was tasty and on point in flavor and balance. My favorite this time were the little pork baos that were crispy on the bottom, filled with hot liquidy goodness, and just the perfect bite(s)! Server was right because everything was delicious and there will be a next time, God Willing.

Great service, cheap prices and quality food. Honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Just go!

My favorite items here are the pan fried bao and the popcorn chicken. The pan fried bao is juicy, soft and crispy on the bottom. It tastes like the xlb but better if youre into bread. Popcorn chicken portion is alot and they give plenty of basil. I would skip the wonton soup unless the wonton that i get wasnt the right one. The broth was plain. There was a bit of confusion because we had a large table. (Party of 8, 2 tables combined as 1) I would recommend just using one food because when we had multiple phones going, it ended up have doubles. We ended up with 4 orders of pan fried baos. 4 xlb, and something else. We even told them at the beginning that the table numbers on the phone are showing up different and asked multiple times if we are going to get double orders. The server said no.. since they stacked the 2 pan fried bao orders in 1 dish, we just assume it was 1 since we forgot it obly came with 4. In the end, when they tried to give us 1 more item we told them to just pack it. We didnt mind paying for the food but it was just a hassle. They gave us this ice jelly thing that tasted like air as an apology though. Also the waitlist is on the left right when you enter the front.

What's left of the smoked duck thingy (3.5/5)

Auntie Qiu -- pronounced "chew," which is at least admirably direct -- is out on Garfield in Alhambra, in that sun-blasted fringe of greater LA where cars seem to outnumber moral principles and crossing the street feels like a live-action trust exercise. It was a beautiful hot mid-April Saturday, the sort of day that practically demands shorts, iced drinks, and irrational optimism. So naturally, walking into Auntie Qiu felt less like entering a restaurant and more like stumbling into the freezer section at Costco by accident. Not enough to cause a diplomatic incident, but enough that I remained faintly aware of my knees for the rest of the meal. The place itself is undeniably cute. Very polished, very photogenic, very "Shanghai by way of modern LA with a tasteful budget and a ring light." Reds, dark woods, natural light, wallpaper pretending to be bookshelves, what looked like old Chinese film posters -- the whole room has a stylish, curated charm. It felt pristine without feeling sterile, which is not easy. There was a crowd, the place was humming, and visually it absolutely knew what it was doing. The menu had a lot going on: sweet drinks, xiao long bao, wonton soups, modern dim sum-ish offerings, tofu dishes, warm soy milk, and other things that looked familiar but slightly zhuzhed up. That can be exciting. It can also be a sign that "fusion" is lurking somewhere backstage, stretching before its performance. I am not spiritually aligned with fusion as a concept. Too often it arrives dressed like revelation and leaves like a committee decision. Still, a lot of the menu sounded appealing, so we ordered a decent spread. Sadly, this turned out to be one of those meals where almost everything looked more interesting than it tasted. The curry beef dumpling was fine, maybe a 3/5. The smoked duck pancake fritter thing was probably the standout -- messy, slightly chaotic, a little greasy in a morally acceptable way -- maybe a 3.5/5. The xiao long bao was solid, around 4/5: thin skin, nicely made, but the broth lacked that deep savory seduction that makes you briefly forgive the world. It was good. It just wasn't transporting. The Shanghai-style salty pudding was a 3/5 and already feels like a distant administrative memory. The bean curd wrapped pork vermicelli soup was the real low point for me, maybe 2/5. The broth tasted so muted it bordered on ontological. Less "rich soup" and more "hot water with aspirations." That was kind of the theme of the whole meal. Everything came out hot, which I respect, but flavor-wise a lot of it felt weirdly pale, like the kitchen had commitment issues. I left full, yes, but mostly full of liquid, steam, and a vague sense that something more exciting had been promised. A few textures stood out. The smoked duck had some personality. The XLB had some technical merit. But overall, not much really lingered in the mind or on the tongue. And that is a problem in Alhambra, where the competition is fierce and the food scene is not exactly begging for mercy. In a place with this many strong Asian dining options, "pleasant but forgettable" lands closer to disappointment than success. So for me, the 4.8 rating felt a little inflated. Not criminally so. Not enough to summon a tribunal. But enough that I raised an eyebrow and kept it there. To be fair, the service was quick and perfectly good. No complaints there. And despite the surrounding traffic absurdity, there's plenty of free parking nearby, which in this part of Southern California feels almost utopian. Also, while the cold interior wasn't the end of the world, it did add a faintly Siberia-in-December undercurrent to a meal that already felt a little emotionally distant. Overall: stylish space, efficient service, easy parking, and food that for me ranged from decent to oddly forgettable. Not bad. Not magical. Just one of those meals where the aesthetics were serving harder than the flavor.

    Good! Recommended!

First of all, great service!! The 4 stars rating has nothing to the server or the restaurant setup. I got the signature pan fried dumpling and the popular noodle. The pan fried dumplings were good and juicy, I really enjoyed them. However, the noodle was beyond bad. The meat was dry and extremely salty. I had to asked for a substitute and got pork chops instead. But the pork chops were also very salty. I took 2 bites and finished my lunch. I ended up drinking so much water for the rest of day. Honest review: I would go back for the dumplings if I am in the area. Maybe try some other items on the menu. But if other items ended up to be really salty too, I might not going back again.

Had a little solo trip to Auntie Qiu Kitchen! I was craving some great quality Chinese food and I found just the place! Auntie Qiu had some delicious and authentic xiao long bao! The skin was thin and the inside was hot and juicy! Absolutely delicious. The service was quick and the staff were very nice! Thanks Auntie Qiu!

Best pork XLB in town! Beats DTF, Mama Lu's and others IMHO. Must order: 1) Pork XLB: perfect skin texture, soup flavor, and quality pork 2) Pancake + double eggs + lettuce + crisp fitter + B BEEF = this was divine, all the components makes it a perfect bite (shareable amongst 2-4 ppl) 3) Pan fried pork bun - what's not to love? You get a juicy fried bun with quality pork 4) Sticky rice ball w soybean and black sesame - this was a perfect finish to our meal. Great flavors and texture, the mochi was the best chew 5) Sticky rice ball w black sesame - another great dessert option to cap off your dining experience SKIP 1) Sweet Osmanthus tofu pudding - too sweet, heavy on osmanthus flavor. I much prefer the OG ginger syrup

Very busy with some parties waiting outside on Sunday at 11:30am already. Inside is clean and feels like you are transported to shanghai with the wallpaper. Lots of seating but ideal for groups of 2-4, some tables for 6-8. Auntie Qiu is popular for their egg pancakes, pan fried dumplings and soup dumplings. Ended up ordering their egg pancakes for take out since I couldn't wait for a table. Food was ready in 15 mins as estimated. Size of the pancake was great for $13 and tasted exactly what I was hoping for! It was sweet from the hoisin sauce, savory from the egg, crunchy from the fried wontons, fragrant from the cilantro and green onion. Credit card minimum of $20 but 5% discount if you pay with cash!

I loved the theme of this restaurant and inside is really cute! I've never been to Shanghai but it felt like I had traveled to one. I got super excited to try all their foods because they got 4.9 stars and that's unheard of. However their food was ok. 1) their famous pan fried buns: it tasted good but not amazing. Texture is fun chewy and crispy. Filling is more of sweet than savory. 2) crab xia long bao: they're good but I wasn't mind blown. Wish we got pork instead 3) unsweetened soy milk: tastes like run down squeezed tofu 4) duck breast egg omelette wrap: my least favorite. I did not like the texture of the crepe. It was soggy and the lack of flavor as a whole. You order via QR code and the service was relatively fast. I wouldn't come back second time though unfortunately :/

Pictures are provided as well through the menu which is a nice plus. Food came out pretty fast, and since we were a 2 table party, each table took turns getting their dishes first. Seafood here is a great option, portions are huge for most dishes, making it perfect to share. My favorite among the dishes is certainly the Walnut Shrimp. It's a classic amongst plenty of Chinese restaurants and Lunasia is up there when it comes to quality. Overall, a decent experience, been here plenty of times for dimsum and it's always quick and quality food. Dinner was decent but nothing too over the top. You have to scan a QR code to get to the menu so you don't really see what you're getting other that the picture you see on your phone. This place by the way is way pricier than actually better dimsum restaurants. So the food came out.. Pork spare ribs w/ blackbean sauce - the meat was chewy, almost tough to eat, and with a generous hint of MSG. Taro with chinese sausage - bland taro base, stale topping of supposed to be ground chinese sausage. Chicken feet - overcooked Water spinach - pale green, unfresh taste, two bites and I had yo give it up. Salt and pepper pork chop - this is ordinary at best compared to places in Monterey Park and Rowland and Hacienda Heights. Beef Chow fun - the only thing we mostly ate. Shrimp and pork siumai - I was so disappointed I list my appetite by this time. Needless to say, we felt like we wasted our $100 plus tax and tip..$120.00 + , for two prople for dimsum. We left the taro and water spinach and took home more than we ate because maybe I can tweak the left overs at home. Have I talked about the service yet? I will not because it was almost non- existent. I get it's Sunday lunch, but really? We never got the water we asked for but the oolong tea was decent. Again, very disappointing experience. I would have taken bad service with good food but bad service and bad food? One star and not a damn little spark more. Get in the game Lunasia in Alhambra!

TIP: Best to get stuff when it's hot and hasn't been sitting in the cart. Can accommodate large groups as it is Chinese banquet style seating with large round rotating tables. Parking is plentiful but it fills up quick surprisingly.

It was great to go with friends who speak Cantonese because mine is so rusty, I can only understand but not speak these days. I was so hungry I didn't even let my phone eat 1st like the yelped I am, but only remembered to take a photo after we had eaten at least half our plates! Having grown up with NYC and SF dim sum, NBC is one of the few Los Angeles area places that has the selection and flavors of my childhood. Some favorites were the har gow, taro puffs, and tripe. We got the roast duck but it wasn't very meaty or flavorful. We got the congee which was ok, but lacked any definite personality. The chewy fried dumplings were more dough than filling. The siu mai and veggie dumplings were both solid. I didn't try the bitter melon or turnip cakes because I don't like the taste of either, but I was happy to see them available. We got a claypot rice dish with spare ribs and Chinese sausage which was good but the rice was not crispy on the bottom. I saw they had chicken feet, which I usually love but they didn't look appetizing enough to order. Would definitely go back for other dishes and with more people so we could sample more selections.

Things that were delicious: The pineapple bun with the custard filling. 5/5 The beefball, well formed, with the nicest visible chunks of water chestnuts and strong cilantro flavor...usually this meat dish has a hint of orange rind, which I don't like...so I was happy the meatball was more cilantro forward. 5/5 The long rice noodle with beef...also we had the the same with bbq pork were delish. 5/5 for all three...as we also had the shrimp one, my party ate it all up first. I didn't eat the chicken feet, but it was enjoyed by all. The siu mai were large and made with shrimp, which I can't eat, but our party of 6 enjoyed. The platterful of soy chicken was enjoyed by all, just beware the chicken head will be included if you are squeamish. The soy chicken feet, also seemed to please. No one rushed us out even though the dim sum service was over by 3 pm. We had a leisurely meal and waiters made sure to come by and refill our tea kettles. I really enjoyed Capital Seafood today. About 10 years ago, I had a bad experience with takeout roasted duck, so I avoided coming back, but things change for the better.....food was great...and clearly a lot of diners packed thr place and were smiling and laughing as they dined.... I even enjoyed watching the staff change the dining room to accommodate a large banquet later this evening, which included the assembly of a large stage/dais. Very interesting how the waiters transformed the dining room to accommodate the needs of the banquet to come. Well done staff!!

Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

Came by on a Saturday craving a few things and ordered siu mai, har gow, BBQ pork buns, ham sui gok, and sesame balls. Once you place your order, everything comes out pretty fast. Overall the items are decent and definitely hit the craving. The BBQ pork bun was a little dry for me, but I liked the sesame balls and ham sui gok, nice and crispy on the outside with a chewy texture. Solid spot if you're in a rush or just want a quick dim sum fix.

Yes, that's how long this place has survived & for good reason. They were the first to serve fresh & tasty dim sum to-go for a reasonable price at good value due to their big portion sizes. However, my son & I, went there recently & ordered the usual Siu Mai, Baked BBQ Bun & Steamed BBQ bun. We usually call in our orders in advance to avoid the long wait outside but this time things seem off. Firstly, the lady cannot understand our order & we were put on hold while there seem to be a banter between her & a gentlemen inside for sometime. Secondly, when we finally got there & picked up the order, one of the items given was wrong. Instead of Char Siu Bao, we had Har Gow. So, we waited for another 15 minutes more to get the correct item. When we got home & opened the bags, the Siu Mai had gotten smaller & the worst part is that one of the Baked BBQ Bun had a cockroach pressed on the outside layer of the bun (see picture). I tried to contact the owner first to let them know so it can be corrected before posting it here but no one called. I know that this can affect their "safety food rating" & thus their sales. But if there was indeed a change in management or ownership, they need to fix the sizing portion & bug problem so they could live up to the history & expectations of their loyal clientele.

The shrimp in the honey walnut dish were large prawns. They were moist, succulent and tender. It had a rich flavor because of the mayo. The chow mein was full of chicken, shrimp, squid and octopus. It was perfectly crispy and saucy at the same time. We ate to our heart's content and ended up taking home plenty of leftovers enough for another meal. Our total bill was a little over $108 with tip.
