This takeout dim sum spot has been around for ages. It's a simple walk up window serving quick, no frills dim sum. Everything is ordered by piece, so you can mix and match exactly what you want by filling out the form. Came by on a Saturday craving a few things and ordered siu mai, har gow, BBQ pork buns, ham sui gok, and sesame balls. Once you place your order, everything comes out pretty fast. Overall the items are decent and definitely hit the craving. The BBQ pork bun was a little dry for me, but I liked the sesame balls and ham sui gok, nice and crispy on the outside with a chewy texture. I have been going to this place to satisfy my dim sum cravings ever since it used to be "Fong's Dim Sum" back in the 1980's. Yes, that's how long this place has survived & for good reason. They were the first to serve fresh & tasty dim sum to-go for a reasonable price at good value due to their big portion sizes. However, my son & I, went there recently & ordered the usual Siu Mai, Baked BBQ Bun & Steamed BBQ bun. We usually call in our orders in advance to avoid the long wait outside but this time things seem off. Firstly, the lady cannot understand our order & we were put on hold while there seem to be a banter between her & a gentlemen inside for sometime. Secondly, when we finally got there & picked up the order, one of the items given was wrong. Instead of Char Siu Bao, we had Har Gow. So, we waited for another 15 minutes more to get the correct item. When we got home & opened the bags, the Siu Mai had gotten smaller & the worst part is that one of the Baked BBQ Bun had a cockroach pressed on the outside layer of the bun (see picture). I tried to contact the owner first to let them know so it can be corrected before posting it here but no one called. I know that this can affect their "safety food rating" & thus their sales. But if there was indeed a change in management or ownership, they need to fix the sizing portion & bug problem so they could live up to the history & expectations of their loyal clientele. read more

I have been coming here for decades. I dont live in the area anymore but when I am remotely in the area and have time, I stop by. Always order the charsiu bao. They freeze great. Also the sui Mai & hargow are good size. They used to have glutinous rice cake. Miss that. Egg custard are great. It is a tiny place to go only and no place to eat. I come here when I crave some siu mai! The other dim sum items are good as well but it really adds up when you want multiple orders of everything. It is cash only so make sure you bring money. You basically go up to the window and grab a pencil and a piece of paper. Then you mark how many of each item you want and turn it in to one of the people working there when you are ready. Super small parking lot that only goes one way so just be careful when driving there. There is probably like 1-2 tables you can sit in the back. I would definitely come here for the siu mai. I was driving back home from an early brunch when I noticed the place was actually open and only had two people waiting so decided to stop by and finally give it a try. I've been curious about this place for a while but every time I get a craving for dim sum its past the serving time, so I was glad to notice it was open while I was in the area. The ordering process was quick; the pictures were helpful and the check off sheet had the prices noted per individual piece. The lady taking orders was friendly and helpful and answered questions to make ordering process smooth. I ordered the steamed pork bun, baked pork bun and pineapple buns, Har gow, Siu mai, steamed dumplings, beef broccoli and house special chow mein. Everything tasted so good and looked fresh and not overcooked. I especially enjoyed the pineapple bun. I noticed the buns coming out of the oven freshly made and smelling so good. I was amazed at how efficient they are with such a small space and little kitchen which made me appreciate the place and the food more. To get the dim sum items is fairly quick but for the other cooked items it takes longer (thankfully the lady let us know ahead of time), overall we waited 30min. Wow, You gotta love Dim Sum Express if you are one of those people that have been here. You won't know what you are missing if you do not make an effort to visit. I live all the way in Orange County, but me and my boys run a firm out here, so that is the only reason I can come out here and enjoy Dim Sum. The outside was perfectly crisp without being too oily. I do wish there was more filling but the exterior made up for it. Yeah you can go to some of those fancy dim sum places nearby with the nice gold decor and cool carts but nothing beats picking up a huge to go order , eating. 1 or 2 for the road and then getting home to eat all of this Yumm while comfy at home watching some television. If you're looking for good quality dimsum, I would suggest an actual brunch sit down restaurant instead. When ordering, you first pick up a slip at the window and mark down the quantities of dishes you want. Then you pass the slip back and pay at the counter, then wait for the food to come out. The portions for each are rather large, I believe the har gow was the largest I've ever seen for dim sum. Price is on par with what you would order at a sit down place, just a tad cheaper. For the dim sum classics, like turnip cake or siu mai, they cost around $1-$2. Service is pretty quick, after ordering it only took around 5 to 10 minutes for the food to come out. It's located facing a busy street and is the size of a little hut - being here on the weekend afternoon was a super chill vibe and I love the outdoor ambiance! My only complaint with this place is their mango pudding - it tasted like stale gelatin with very little mango flavor and after two bites I could not finish it and had to hold back in a little gag. Something to note: unlike other takeout dim sum places, this express packs all of their dishes into comprehensive take out boxes rather than individual containers. I appreciate this as I'm sure it helps cut down on waste, but if you are particular about how certain foods pair in aromas/textures/temperature in containers, then just be aware. Again, this is more so if I'm looking for a quick fix rather than to how the full dim sum experience.
