This is a cute and welcoming deli, but I'm not sure about the butcher shop part. The sandwich menu was limited and did not have any turkey. However the grilled cheese was excellent, very cheesy and you had your choice of several cheeses on grilled sourdough bread. We sat at a table outside in the sun and enjoyed watching the street. I absolutely love & appreciate the staff here. They are all incredibly kind and so warm welcoming to everyone who passes through their door. The shop is located in the heart of Downtown Morro Bay, and is open Weds-Sat! The shop is cozy, and has plenty of different options of cuts as well as a variety of frozen items. Their sandwiches are absolutely yummy and if you're able to catch them before they're sold out, give the pork belly bites a try (I absolutely love them). I appreciate the fact that when you order steaks, they're cut in front of you & the staff lets you have a say on how much you want. What a wonderful surprise when we stumbled on Morro Bay Butcher and Deli. Not only do they have a full service butcher service with premium cuts and grades of meats, but they have an amazing lunch menu too! We ordered the mushroom all vegetable soup and the Wagu beef sandwich. Both dishes were absolutely incredible with rich luxurious flavors. The cost is $$ and right in line with other lunch places. We ate our lunches in their entirety and wow did that soup have a lovely nutty flavor with an awesome broth. The steak sandwich was tender and full of flavor. The only snarks 1. No seating. All food to go. Other restaurants have space for an outdoor table which would have been nice since Morro Bay is so scenic. Still, the food is well worth the to go only. 2. A member in the party had the delicious chicken/pesto sandwich and wanted to add bacon. We made sure bacon was served on other sandwiches so adding couldn't have been a big deal. We were told absolutely "NO!" All sandwiches are served as-is with no substitutions. The Morro Bay Butcher certainly deserves a visit for one of their amazing menu items. Overall Grade A+ read more

I have only been here twice but I make it a point to stop by when I am in the area. I've tried their duck pot pie, hot mess, and chicken pesto sandwich. I love the hot mess, it's absolute perfection and highly recommend it. The chicken pesto is good but I would prefer it with a stronger basil/pesto flavor. The staff is sweet and helpful in providing recommendations. I haven't purchased any of their meat or cheese but it looks like really good cuts of meat and really fresh. Being the holidays many of the usual local spots were on break. We saw this place had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. The service was just okay. Not rude at all, but not friendly either. The air of someone just doing their job because they have to. Understandable in general, but maybe a customer service position is a poor choice for them. The food was fine. There are better versions of everything we ate to be had at other local spots nearby (except when they're on holiday break). Price was mostly in line with others, a dollar or two more than similar shops and a dollar or two less than higher profile ones. One point that really bothered me was with buying a sandwich, a burger, and a canned drink, they would not give me a cup of water. Only offered water for sale. That's just incredible cheap and low class. Everywhere else here offers free water, most with self-dispensing 1/5 gallon bottled water at their expense and not even tap. There is no seatign inside, and only two tables outside on the sidewalk, so plan accordingly. read more

Yes - I had counted down the days and finally was able to return to my favorite shop that makes the most delicious grilled cheese sandwich, namely their "Garden Grilled Cheese". Taking a bite of it after months of dreaming about it was like being in ecstasy! Knowing that they are going on a break was alarming. I went back nearly every single day before they closed up. My hubby and I decided to try their chicken pesto as well, and it was also really well-made loaded with tender chicken, pesto, and sundried tomatoes. Morro Bay Butcher & Deli definitely does not skimp on quality ingredients. But the pull of the garden grilled cheese was too great. I went back for another one just right before their break. I wish everyone there have a wonderful time-off! I will be sure to return every chance I get :) read more

I was amazed how thin a pastrami sandwich could be made. For a butcher they sure are tight with the meat, I like more meat than bread. The bread was so greasy I had to throw out the bottom pieces. The meat was good but not nearly enough. I had to stop for a burrito after lunch to fill up. If you're looking for a good deli skip this place. read more

Very good little sandwich shop with a limited menu and sides. I feel like this is a meat purveyor first and a deli second. The quality of the meats on display looked of very high quality. If I was local I'd definitely grab some meats and give those a whirl. My wife and I stopped in for a couple sandwiches, and we both thought they were good, I'd say above average but not gourmet. Awesome little butcher shop and deli in Morro Bay. Parking is ample and the shop is just two blocks walk to the waterfront. The sandwiches are excellent and I would highly recommend the grilled cheese options! You can pick up all of your ingredients for a charcuterie board too - which we did just prior to our camping trip. It was a nice little treat for after camp setup. read more

Jillian and Jeff, the owners are so welcoming and friendly. This couple is super passionate about what they do, and it shows! I'm instantly in a great mood every time I come here! Their menu consists of 1-3 sandwiches of the day. My favorites are the "Cold Shoulder" sandwich. It's a cold sandwich made of delicious smokey pork shoulder with cheese, lettuce, Mayo, Vidalia onions, and mustard on sourdough bread. The ingredients on that sandwich are so garden fresh and high quality and flavorful it got me coming back to try their other meals: such as, the "Garden Veggie Grilled Cheese" made with Brie. It also has this balsamic drizzle that this entire adult grilled cheese sandwich is mouth watering! My boyfriend and I have also tried their pot pie which was epic as well as their pre-made lamb lollipops, asparagus salad... I can go on and on. They have a rocking pre-made menu. Y'all need to try these sandwiches! I've been there before to get their high quality meat. I've been keeping an eye out for the reopening after the storms that passed through and had to order two sandwiches for a little variety. I ordered the Hot Mess and the Cuban and both were the best sandwiches in Morro Bay and some of the best sandwiches I've ever had! I was very excited to get a deli sandwich from this place. First off I got there at 10:30am and they only make deli sandwiches between 11am-4pm- so I had to come back at 11am. Went down the street to have some coffee - when I returned I asked for their chicken club sandwich but when I asked for a French roll instead of sourdough the guy flat out told me nope no substituting......I asked why and all he told me was we don't do that. He said if you want a build your own sandwich you can go to Gilligan's- Well thanks for the referral as Gilligan's was excellent and SUPER friendly. Customer Service defiantly is lacking at his place which is too bad as it was a place that looked good. I will not go back due to the bad service I received. read more

Great meats, deli items and sandwiches, owners are very nice and helpful! Would highly recommend this business! There are sandwich specials daily so be sure to check them out. I loved the Saturday patty melt! They post the specials and other information on their social media and keep it up to date! They carry local meats and have a large variety and will do custom cuts and orders. They make in house sausage as well. In addition to all this they give back to our community in many ways including giving away food that would otherwise go to waste to the Monday night community dinner weekly. This was my first time here. I'd heard great things about their food. I ordered the Marlon Sando, which is an Italian cold cuts sandwich on a French roll. It sounded delicious - it wasn't. The bread was not fresh it was kind of hard and chewy. The meats and cheese were a little skimpy. I guess i expected better for $15. Nice people, though. I'll return to buy some beef, though. We were a bit indecisive about what we wanted but my daughter's favorite sandwich is chicken pesto. I told her, "Let's go see if they have it on the menu." Absolutely LOVE THIS PLACE! Sandwiches are so damn good, amazing ingredients. The Italian Sando is dripping with oil, soaking the paper and full of the classic Italian goodies inside. Hot Mess is super good too with the red onion and sriracha giving it a small kick. Always hits, usually eating the first half and then the other 20 minutes later because it's hard to not think about! These guys are my GO-TO meat purveyor in the Central Coast. I love that they get their meats from purveyors that they love and vet for taste and quality. Geoff will cut the meat specifically to your specifications and will happily give you a recipe on how to cook your meat if you need instructions.
