Hard to write this, since Morton's has been a go-to 'celebration dinner' spot in my family since I was a kid. But we went recently and had such a lackluster experience that we won't be going back. The steaks were good, but that was about it. Our daughter was looking forward to having their chocolate mousse, and it's been replaced by hazelnut mousse - not even chocolate hazelnut, just hazelnut. Who thought that was a good idea? The menu hadn't been updated so there was no way for us to know before going - we're an allergy family so my kid can only eat a couple of things and it was a huge disappointment that the only dessert she liked and could safely have is gone. The service was also lacking. Our waiter almost never checked in with us. Our drinks never got refilled (talk about leaving money on the table - their drinks are not cheap). Water glasses empty for an hour while we tried to flag random staff down for help. The manager, bless him, was running around trying to pick up the slack, but there was just too much slack. Honestly, we get more attentive service at Red Robin. Our meal total came to over 300 dollars (would've been more if I'd been able to order a second glass of wine) and it wasn't worth the price. read more

We chose to come to Morton's because we wanted to have a high quality steak dinner. This is a review from 11/29/21. The host was dismissive and seated us. The waiter was very kind and checked in with us throughout the meal. I ordered the ribeye, rare, with shrimp scampi. The meat was tasteless and had a lot of gristle, not at all what I expected from a quality steakhouse and at the high prices. The shrimp were very small and gummy, it was a scampi but arrived cold. The baked potato was loaded and the only item which was edible. Overall, sad we paid a lot of money for awful steak and shrimp dinner. The more I frequent Morton's The Steakhouse, the more it feels like a factory experience. On one hand, that's a positive as you know exactly what you're going to get. On the other hand, it's not a very exciting experience and that's not something one wants to hear with regards to their dining experience. We came here on a Wednesday evening. We made a reservation, but it was wholly unnecessary. The room was empty and how they laid out the seating made it very uncomfortable. Everyone sat in the booths, but these are booths that only had seating on 3/4 of the sides so everyone wound up staring at each other. Now, if you want the Godfather experience, that's for you, but if you don't want to feel like you're being stared at your entire meal, then it can get uncomfortable. The service was hit and miss. They were extremely friendly upon our entrance, but as soon as we notified them that we were there for DineLA, their attitude changed completely. From certain perspectives, that's understandable, but not acceptable since shouldn't everyone get the same service no matter how much money you're spending? Also, at the end of our meal, we experienced a curious phenomenon with a heavy up sell for us to sign up and pay for their rewards club. That was entirely off putting...in fact, the waitress came back several times asking if we made up our mind on signing up or not. We always go to Arnie Morton's for our Wedding Anniversary dinners. Last night my Wife and I were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Rafa was our server and he was excellent. He's tended to us previous times in the past and is always welcoming. He brought us a seafood sampler which was a wonderful surprise. We still ordered Grilled Oysters for the appetizer since we had that it mind, and it was delicious!!!! For the main coarse I had the Prime Cajun Rib Eye, Wife had the Fillet Mignon and Lobster. For some reason the steaks were outstanding! All other times we've eaten those they were always good, but it was great last night. For desert we usually order the molten chocolate cake with ice cream, but didn't have to. Rafa brought it out for us with a lit candle!!! We had dinner here this past Sunday evening at a booth near the front entrance behind many wine bottles (watch where your arm goes!). Ambiance is a little dark but classy and relaxing with soft music in the background. Not too crowded. We also appreciated the first impression we received from the very nice and funny hostess who set the pleasant tone for the evening and helped seat us. Morton's in Burbank is located on the ground floor of an office building. There is a parking garage underneath for visitors. You will see the overhead signs. Morton's validates your parking ticket. All food served was at appropriate temperature and time spaced well between appetizer and main courses, which we always appreciate (and didn't have to request)! Opened with a delicious large but light round loaf of onion bread and side of butter. We did our best not to eat the whole thing to save our appetite. Appetizer: Jumbo lump crab cake had a lot of crab meat, felt light but indulgent if that is possible! Served with a nice aioli sauce. Plate served was very hot which kept the crab cake at a nice temperature. Wine: gentleman server gave a great recommendation for husband's glass of wine: Raymond Primal Cut Cabernet which I had a few sips of. We are hooked! Mains: Prime NY Strip: medium. Husband would like to add it was cooked perfectly, warm throughout and at at right temperature. Side of loaded baked potato with butter and chives on the side, delicious and hot! Miso Marinated Sea Bass on bed of bok choy vegetables: I requested it to be cooked well done which it was while still being tender and flaky. The miso crust was perfect and not overly seasoned. Side dish of The Troy-mushrooms and onions. Perfect complement to the fish. Too full for dessert. Dine LA thank you for being the only reason that I decided to give this restaurant a shot! Morton's falls under the "better than Outback steakhouse but not as good as Houston's" category. The 8 oz. Filet is ok but it was lacking in flavor. I should have asked for steak sauce which isn't a good thing when you go to a steak house. Texture was fine but I expected more from their steaks. The chopped house salad is good. Bacon, avocado , flavorful and hearty. I couldn't tell if it had feta or blue cheese or both but my husband loves the cheese so he finished it. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes with my filet and it's great paired with the filet but nothing memorable about the flavor. Tasted like regular plain mashed potatoes that you'd have at any 1 or 2 star restaurant. My husband's cream of spinach was way too bitter and had a horrible after taste. I told my husband to send it back but he just decided not to eat it instead. I hope this isn't how it always is. Ended with Creme Brulee that wasn't too sweet at all. Overall, There isn't anything special about the food, at least, not what we ordered. The ambience is nice, restaurant is dark and modern. Definitely sets the mood for an intimate dinner. The service was outstanding. From the host to our server Gary, to the manager who checked on us, all were AMAZING! We were celebrating our 23rd anniversary, and they made it so special for us. They printed a special menu with the heading of "Happy 23rd Anniversary!" For us. They took our picture and gave us our framed picture at the end. After living in Burbank for many years I finally got around to trying this place... let me tell you it was just okey. My husband and I have better steak else where and this place wasn't it. Our waitress Taylor was nice and accommodating. We ordered the ahi tuna tar tar which was exceptional. It was melt in your mouth amazing!!! The Cesar was mehh, the onion rings were bomb.. our steak was semi cold. I wouldn't recommend ordering the lobster macaroni and cheese. It tasted really weird and it was sour for some odd reason. We got it replaced with mashed potatoes and of course it was cold. The Modelo beer hit the spot though no complaints there. It's always nice to try a local neighborhood restaurant but it wasn't a big deal. read more

The food is great, and the service is too, That said.... My husband and I enjoy having one on one alone time on our wedding anniversary. We enjoy having dinner at Morton's. We enjoy their twist on a Manhattan theirs is known as a State st. Manhattan and we think it is the BEST... it's supposed to have a piece of steak!!! That said we began by ordering two, one for my husband and one for myself, immediately my husband noticed it was missing the orange peel. He asked for it, and the waitress politely said oh no, you are confusing it for an old-fashioned. Me, being me, told him he was probably mistaken because the waitress works there and she should obviously know their drinks, and he should go with the flow. My husband said nope I know I'm right and this is the reason we come here. When we were offered a second round, we said yes, this time it came with the orange peel (because he asked) but no steak. Mind you in the past, the steak was a good inch to inch and a quarter long steak, this time it was no more than 1/2 an inch, again only the first round. The 2 subsequent rounds had no steak. Something very similar happened in Las Vegas. The difference is that once my husband went up and spoke to the bartender and explained he was from the LA area and it was missing something, The bartender turned around and made it exactly what we were used to. Which is what they advertise on their website and is all over the internet. We were very disappointed that this happened at the Burbank location especially since we have had that same drink there in the past. My husband wanted to go speak to the bartender but I discouraged it because I felt like we should not have to do this every time. We will most likely find a different go to for our anniversary dinners from now on ( we've enjoyed at least 10 at Morton's, different locations including Vegas, in our 20 year marriage). We can understand a different state, not making it exactly like we are used to, but when you've had it at the same location twice in the past (previous location was Woodland Hills but it is further from home and we have small kiddos) and then you return to something completely different, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We believe that if it is something a restaurant is known for, every franchise should know how to make it. My husband and I enjoy filet mignon, I enjoy cooking and I have mastered an amazing filet mignon, but on our anniversary it is nice to treat ourselves. I've tried mortons for dine la, regular menu pricing and happy hour pricing. I'll do one big review so here goes................. For dineLA, I think the menu is very reasonable: $49 1st course:I tried the classic cesar salad, which was a decent portion. 2nd course: I picked the 8oz filet mignon, which was cooked just right. I think its great that they allow you to choice an actual side and not bamboozle you into a "filet mignon entree" like other steakhouses featured in dinela. Couldn't go wrong with creamed Spinach. 3rd course: double chocolate mousse. EWWWWWWW The only think I could change would be, lower the price and remove the dessert. The creme brulee was also mehhhh. Regular dinner: I basically ordered the same thing expect the dessert, it ususally ended up being, $70 just for the 8 oz steak and the salad. HH is worth it, expect the two times I ordered the oysters and they were not the best looking, missing the sauce and tabasco. It looked like they were just tossed on ice, not very clean either The iceberg bites are alright, and the Filet mignon trio is ok to but i would rather have a large piece of meat. Parking is non existent because the restaurant is located in a building, near the studios. So valet is like 10 bucks i think The martinis and wine are great for happy hour. We have always had a private room so I can't comment on the public area but it looked pretty dark and how most steakhouses are. Servers were super nice and courteous. Food was amazing. I am a frequent Morton's diner, but have only visited this location twice. My daughter and I was happy that outdoor dining was reopened so we decided to go this location. Perhaps because it was a slow night that they just didn't care. My steak was dry, seasoning in the sides were nonexistent and the food was late coming out. I would normally understand if it were busy, but there were only two tables and we were the second. I expect more from Mortons especially after a $400 tab. Now I remember why I hadn't been to this location in years...that first time wasn't great either. My favorite locations are Woodland Hills and Downtown LA. Awesome decor in the main dining room. There's also a very nice patio if you prefer outside seating. Large bar area with tons of wine and liquor choices. Morton's Three Course Prime Lunch Selections at $35.50 is a great deal. You start off with either a salad or soup. I chose the lobster bisque which tasted really good and had chunks of lobster. It was a perfect match to the complimentary onion bread. For main course, I had the Honey-Chili Glazed Salmon Fillet With Vegetable Relish while the rest of the group ordered either a Grilled 9 oz Ribeye Steak With Garlic Butter and Mashed Potatoes or With Caramelized Onions, Cheddar Cheese, and Mashed Potatoes. I very much enjoyed my salmon and everyone agreed that steaks were really, really good. We finished off the meal with either a Double Chocolate Mousse or a Cheesecake. Yes, our party of five all enjoyed our meal but neither one was happy with the service. Here's what went down...We came a park at the valet area but the attendant is nowhere in sight. Since we didn't want our car to be towed, one of our friends walked around to find him and even went inside the restaurant to ask but no one knows. About 15 minutes after, he finally showed up and took our car keys. He didn't deserve the $6 valet fee we paid. We went inside and was greeted by the receptionist. We had a reservation at 12:30 but for table wasn't ready. There were only five tables occupied at that time we came in but I wasn't sure what took them so long to have us seated. It required three people in the front desk to figure out where they should seat us. After about 15 more minutes, we were led to our table which was still being set up. Fast forward to the meal itself. Not sure if it's the norm here but as soon as plates were placed in the table, the servers went nowhere in sight. The guy who sat up our table was the only one who remained the entire time in the dining area but how do you expect him to serve everyone dining that time. We had to keep waiting and looking around for anyone to refill our drinks. We were not happy but we didn't say anything. I had high hopes for Morton's The Steakhouse after checking out their dineLA lunch menu. Normally, I'm not one that goes to a lot of steak houses because red meat isn't my favorite thing, but the menu at Morton's for lunch looked good compared the dineLA menus at 80% of the other restaurants around L.A.. Service: 3/5 Stars It started strong. They aren't connected with Open Table, so I called to make a reservation for lunch. The woman on the phone was so cheerful and pleasant. When we arrived the hostess was very polite and seated us quickly. We were seated next to a built-in cabinet in one part of the restaurant that was covered with wine bottles all sitting upright and not in any kind of rack. It's a good thing I wasn't talking with my hands because I probably would have knocked a few of them over. I'm not sure why they don't just have them on a wine rack somewhere instead of placing tables right next to them. Our server Michael was excellent in the beginning until the restaurant started to fill up. We ended up having to flag him down to ask for our check because he disappeared. Food: 3/5 Stars I ordered the Baked Five Onion Soup which I really liked as my first course. It had lots of cheese and a big piece of French bread (5/5 Stars). Then I ordered the Morton's Prime Burger as my entrée. This is where things went downhill. The beef was O.K., but they went a little too heavy with the crumbed blue cheese. The bacon had way too much fat, the mushrooms were oily and the matchstick fries were alright. Truffle fries would have been nice. We ended up taking the double chocolate mousse to go. I made reservations here for my father's birthday, and the menu said "Happy Birthday" along with the date. Additionally, we had coffee and dessert on the house as a birthday gift. The best part? They don't sing the Birthday song. Good for them, and good for us. The bread that accompanies the meal is an onion bread, and it's served hot and with seemingly handmade butter. It was quite delicious. There's a puff of smoke the moment you open it as well. Lovely. We got a Caesar salad and split it. The cheese was really good as the dressing and the hunk of crouton. My father opted for the ribeye, and I chose the filet mignon. Cooked just the way you ordered. Also, I suggest the steamed asparagus. I'm not an asparagus fan but their jumbo asparagus was really good. But if you're to opt for one vegetable, do get the brussel sprouts. She responded that her records shows they tried to call me but there was no response. Lol. A stated that I do not answer unidentified phone numbers and there is always the option to leave a voicemail. Crickets.... That's the end. Big smile on her face when we walked in the restaurant. The manager, Todd, checked in for us. She knew it right away that we have our own personalized menu. That is a very cool souvenir!! That is something we will cherish & remember for a long time. When our server, Kimberly, came to our table, she already knew it is our anniversary, she congratulated us. Took my friend here for his birthday dinner. We ordered the Filet, Chicago Style Prime Bone in Ribeye, Grilled Jumbo Asparagus, Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, Creme Brulee and because it was my friends birthday, they gave us a complimentary dessert Souffle. The meat, which should be the showstopper at a steakhouse, was cooked perfectly. Very moist and flavorful. I love me a good filet and mine was delicious. After finishing off the meat, my friend wanted to literally suck on his ribeye bone. Yeah it was that good. The sides were decent. I really liked the balsamic vinaigrette on the asparagus. The potatoes were tasty and plentiful. The dessert, specifically the creme brulee was delicious! I had been craving a really good creme brulee for some time now and Morton's delivered. Would definitely order this again. The complimentary birthday souffle was light and fluffy. It was served with this delicious whipped cream that I could eat by the spoonfuls, very good. They also serve complimentary onion bread at the beginning of your meal. I actually wasn't a fan of this. I like the taste of onions but this made my breath all oniony. Plus it was messy to eat because the bits of onions scattered along the top of the bread would fall all over the place. The ambiance and service at Mortons was top notch. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the staff being on point throughout the night. However it was kind of a pain to find the underground parking entrance. Went to Morton's for my wife's birthday. Thankfully we had $100 in gift cards because if I had to pay the full tab out of pocket I would have been more pissed than I already am. The service was overall OK. The problem was with the food. We were so disappointed in what was supposed to be prime beef. Honestly, we get better meat from Whole Foods and I can actually get a real sear on the meat on my grill. The creamed spinach tasted like frozen and was anything but creamy. Great steak house (I'm not a steak house kinda eater, or I'm sure I would of given it 5 stars). We ordered everything family style. And things came out quick. Steak and lobster were cooked perfectly. Bacon mac and cheese, omg, so freaken good I wanted to eat it all and not share, the crab cake was better than any crab cake I had in New Orleans (and I've tried a lot there). Ahi tower, really good, should of eaten all of that not the bacon mac and cheese (which had huge delicious lardons throughout its cheesey goodness), oysters were cold and flavorful, broccoli and brussel sprout sides were good (but who wants that when you have bacon mac and cheese to eat). Really good service. Great atmosphere. Happy hour food and drink items looked really good and had great prices. WIll come back for that one day soon. read more

Dark and empty is what this place was after 4p on a Wednesday. The waitstaff was dull, boring and at times even seemed annoyed and was short. Two people gossiped at the front door as we left. They were friendly. I ask the waitress what the best side dish was and she told me the scalloped potatoes. These potatoes were not like any scalloped potatoes I have had. It was more like potato chunks in cheese soup. Im assuming because there so much cheese the chefs figure to not add salt. But the cheese is so mild the dish is bland. My husband and I had a day off work and we were in an adventuring mood, so we decided to give this place a try for lunch. We had been getting some promo emails for meal deals, and while the emails didn't specify "for dinner only", we figured we would see what options were on the menu, and bring up the deal if we felt inclined to. We had made reservations for 11:30am on a Friday, which is when they open. That seemed to be the prime time to go, as there was no one else itching to get in with us. It did get a bit busier around 12pm. Our waitress was Samantha, and she was helpful and sociable. Thumbs up for her! Reviewing the lunch menu, it's very reasonably priced for the majority of the lunch specialty plates. Of course, they do have their super-expensive prime cuts of meat, but that wasn't a huge presence on the menu. Visually, the menu was very well balanced. We selected to go with the 3 course lunch. While more than a normal meal, this felt to me like a great deal ($35 per person I believe?). For perspective, we sometimes eat in Burbank along San Fernando Blvd, which can get up towards $20-$25 per person for an entree and drink. We opted to start with the (1) Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. Holy cow, it's pricey for a single crab cake, but it was the best one that we've ever had. It was all huge pieces of crab with very minimal binder. The sauce under it was spicy and light, and we really tried to clean up as much of that as possible from off the plate. We started with the onion soup and roasted tomato bisque. The onion soup was divine. It was warm and earthy and loaded with happy bits of caramelized onions. There was plenty of cheese melted on top. The tomato bisque was rustic and simple, and definitely a healthier option. LOL. For our entrees I selected the 9oz Ribeye (medium rare) with mashed potatoes and my husband selected the Shrimp Scampi Capellini. My steak was cooked to perfection, was tender, and had minimal fatty pieces. The butter dolloped on top didn't quite add anything extra to the taste, but it was still a nice touch. The mashed potatoes were garlic happy heaven. There was a huge portion of it, and I probably over-starched myself with just that. My husband's shrimp plate was astounding. I really should have ordered that for myself. The noodles were light and al dente. The sauce was not overbearing and gave everything else in the dish it's flavor time to shine. The shrimp were HUGE. They were at least 2-3 bites worth per shrimp. For dessert, we wanted to try both options available: the chocolate mousse and the cheesecake. Both desserts were decadent, but the chocolate mousse nudged its way out as the dessert winner. The cheesecake was amazing, but it was very heavy and stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth thick. It's been over a month, with no one from the business reaching out to me. Even after I tried to follow up. I was going to ignore the whole bad food and service, until management reached out to ME. THEY wanted to know about my experience and THEY wanted to contact me. I just think now...don't reach out if you aren't going to follow up. Period. Add bad management to the list. read more

My husband and I attended a private dinner gathering at Morton's tonight for a charity fundraiser. Our hostess asked ahead of time about dietary restrictions. My husband and I are both on a vegan Whole Foods Plant Based Diet, trying to avoid salt, sugar, and oil. Obviously, Morton's menu isn't designed to cater to our dietary restrictions. But they went out of their way to accommodate us. Our hostess arranged for us to have a salad without dressing, a plain baked potato with chives, a giant vegetable plate, and a gorgeous plate of fresh, delicious, juicy berries for dessert. Everything was delicious. I ate my salad before I took a photo and I didn't get a photo of the berries either. But I did get photos of the giant beautiful plate of vegetables and the yummy baked potato with chives. I would eat here again happily. They provided more food than either of us could finish. And we would have eaten more, if our stomachs had allowed it. Two of our friends at the same table had filet mignons that were cooked medium rare. Their steaks came out perfectly. They really enjoyed their decadent mashed potatoes and the still-warm onion bread rolls, slathered in soft butter. So, this is actually a great place for omnivores (no surprise), but Morton's can also graciously accommodate vegan dietary needs. Thank you for a great meal! :) Also, our server really understood vegan dietary needs, which was helpful and really appreciated. TL;DR: I asked for a vegan meal and Morton's over-delivered with a salad, a massive plate of sautéed vegetables, baked potato with chives, and a gorgeous plate of fresh, delicious berries for dessert. Everything was delicious! I would definitely eat here again. Our omnivore friends at the same table had perfectly cooked medium rare filets. This restaurant has been deteriorating for quite some time, but after tonight, I'm just done. I have friends who like to go for happy hour, so I have gone to enjoy their company, but it's just gotten too ridiculous. I am not a complainer, but they never get your order right and the check is always wrong. This evening it was even worse than usual. Half my order was wrong and the other half was not cooked to order. Is it that hard to cook a medium rare burger. And apparently they cannot differentiate between a cup and a bowl of soup. Sent the burgers back because they were overdone. They made them again. Same problem. Ate them because I was really hungry when I got there and we'd been there for an hour already. They didn't charge me for the burgers or the cup of soup they brought even though they sais I couldn't order one (I'd ordered it before on many occasions), but my bill was wrong. Then, because the guy at the front desk had vanished, I asked the waiter to stamp my parking ticket. Apparently even that was too difficult. My parking was $11.75 because I apprently didn't have it validated. (Should have been $3.50_. As much as I love my friends, they'll have to do happy hour here without me. While apparently they have a new manager who was trying, since they old one inexplicably quit last week, I don't think she'll have any more success than he did and I just don't want to go out for fun with my friends and come home angry and frustrated.
