Visited this location 11/18/2016 for a birthday dinner, had reservations, were seated immediately. Wait staff incredibly friendly, helpful and always present. Wanted for nothing. Had the house chopped salad, which was delicious, dining partner had the 5 onion soup, which was also amazing. Ordered our soufflés with our dinner order, like you're supposed too. Dinner was an 8oz filet with au poive, he had the porterhouse. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Sides of garlic mashed as well as the button mushrooms with spinach. We love that you can slowly enjoy your appetizers without having your dinner shoved at you. I don't know how they do it, but the food came out timely. We did not feel rushed at all. Everyone is so nice, the restaurant is clean, ambient and amazing. Our waitress, Christina was AMAZING, she answered all our questions, made sure our glasses were never empty, dishes were never left on the table. Checked in on us but didn't hover, she was SPECTACULAR and very-very good at what she does. Genuinely friendly, yet professional.. Great food, terrible environment Had a pretty nice meal at Morton's Steakhouse, Riverside Square Mall in Hackensack, NJ. The bacon appetizer was delicious & the salad fresh. The 6 oz filet mignon a tad overcooked for medium, the lobster tail was perfect & the miso sea bass excellent. Chocolate souffle was delivered to our table 20 minutes after our coffee & fell short. Unfortunately our meal was absoluetly ruined by the unruly 6 year old holding court at the bar tables. Parents couldn't control her screaming fits and random tantrums. Wait staff & bartender did nothing to address. Ironicially we were seated in the main dining area but witnessed & heard the screaming throughout our 2.5 hour meal. We left the restaurant at 10pm on a Friday night with noticing Mortons bar empty due to an exhausted 6 year old continuing on. A restaurant such as this should have a packed bar on a Friday night. When I spoke with the manager he blurted 'I didn't ruin your meal'. Well yeah, you did. Maybe if you circulated throughout the restaurant more you would have noticed what was going on at your quickly emptying bar and surronding tabes. It is a managers responsibility in an establishment like Mortons to monitor the behavior of all diners to make it the most pleasant experience for all the patrons. read more

(for bar only, I didn't consume food) OMG I am in love with the bar at Morton's. It's separated from the rest of the restaurant so you don't have to smell people's steak dinners. We came here for a glass of port and it was delightful. I love when waitstaff wears black and white uniforms and is middle aged. Give me an old, seen it all broad instead of some young tight 20 year old and I am super happy. If I lived here (and god help me if I ever do) this is where I would take all of my menz. Old school & classy. & also kind of tacky and stuck in a time warp, which is part of the charm, I think. In the same complex as Riverside Mall, the "rich people" mall in this part of town. read more

We have eaten here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. Whether we order steaks or seafood or any of the other entrees we have always been happy with our choices. The atmosphere is very upscale "steak house" with both booths and tables with tablecloths. The staff is well informed, knowledgeable and friendly. I don't know what I could possibly say about Morton's that hasn't already been said. This place is five star dining all around. My boyfriend and I came in to celebrate my 30th birthday, even though it was two days after the fact. Upon arriving we were immediately seated, and given a special birthday menu to keep. Our server, Connor, was nothing short of amazing. He was engaging attentive, and just overall excellent. As it was our first time dining there, he gave us a brief history of the restaurant and a rundown of their menu. Given that I'm a steak lover, I already knew what I was having. The loaf of bread that comes out is equally huge and great. It's fluffy and warm and everything bread should be. We did choose the jumbo shrimp Alexander as an appetizer and we both loved it. It was so flavorful and the shrimp were very succulent. I also had the lobster bisque and really enjoyed it. It was very creamy and quite delicious. Add in the 2 large pieces of lobster and I was having a good night. We split the garlic mashed potatoes and I had the side of broccoli. I ordered the 6oz. filet mignon "Oscar style" medium rare, and my boyfriend had a steak whose name I can't remember. It was butterfly'd and he really liked it. I don't think I even have the words to describe my steak. It was perfect from start to finish. Red in the center, as it should be, and seared perfectly on the outside. It was everything I hoped it would be. And if that wasn't enough, since we were there to celebrate my birthday, I enjoyed a complimentary dessert. I chose the apple crisp which had caramelized apples, golden raisins, a cobbler-like topping and a large scoop of ice cream on top. It was to die for! I don't know when I'll get back to Morton's because it is so pricey (everything is a la carte) but I think it's worth the splurge for special occasions in my opinion. Went here for husband's 30th with family - the only let down of the whole weekend! One highlight: apps - crab cake & tuna tartar. Waitress: unhelpful, rude.. terrible Steaks: ordered 2 Cajun ribeyes, NY Strip, and bone-in ribeye all medium rare (which they say is a warm red center). 1 came out medium, and the other 3 were medium well, bordering on well done. The absolute worse experience with ordering a steak I've ever had, especially at a steakhouse. Wish I just went to Houston's downstairs and ordered the Hawaiian ribeye. Soufflé was yummy, just wished our waitress didn't butcher it. If you're looking for high quality steak with good service, drive a little farther and go to Prime & Beyond, Cliff's, or Ruth Chris - they know steak and have a great staff. read more

My husband and I made reservations for this past Sunday. We frequented Morton's in Hackensack when we were looking to eat Surf and Turf. Upon arrival, we we seated and greeted by our waiter. I thought we were off to a great meal. Surf and Turf was not on the menu and when we asked the waiter, he told us about a special that included salad, one side, Surf and Turf as well as dessert. Our waiter must have been new because he kept leaving to ask the manager questions. Also he also was not listening to our responses. For example my husband asked for an iceberg salad with the same dressing as my spinach salad and his response was ok you want the same salad? I am usually patient but between leaving to ask questions and not getting our order correct, it became frustrating. The manager brought over our bottle of wine and it was the correct year so we were happy about that part. The food arrived and the meat was tender and the tail was delicious. The baked potato was not edible. It was almost like it was left over from another day. The broccoli arrived with so much pepper on it, was so overdone, it seemed like a left over as well. The waiter took our plates, did not ask why we didn't touch the sides. When it came time to order dessert, we declined. The waiter reminded us that it was part of the special but since the sides were so bad, we didn't feel like taking home a dessert that was not edible as well. Our bill was over 30O for the two of us and not worth it. As we left the restaurant, the hostess and manager did not say a thing. Needless to say, with food that tastes old and left over, an inexperienced waiter and management that is not friendly, we will not be returning to Morton's in Hackensack. read more

I really wanted to take foodie pics, but the second the food came out, my steak knife was already in motion. Oops. To start off, we ordered a Caesar salad which they happily divvied up for the 4 of us. Each plate had it's own crustini bread, which was that extra touch that makes a restaurant great. Our server Jin also gets the waiter of the year award in my book. Extremely friendly and attentive. For the main show, I ordered the center cut prime ribeye medium, which had a perfect sear around it. It may have been a bit closer to medium rare, but it was so darn delicious. The foie gras cognac butter was unreal and I highly recommend it!! As a table we also ordered sides of sautéed broccoli florets and sour cream mashed potatoes. I know Morton's is a steakhouse, but I am a sides hoe and this place has got the goods! Next time I'll have to try the grilled asparagus, Parmesan and truffle fries and the bacon mac&cheese. But with the lava cake coming up, I had to pace myself. Morton's is a marathon, not a sprint. The molten chocolate lava cake lived up to all expectations, and we left Morton's on a complete high. Just dont do it, just dont.... The place is like a time capsule, it is so cheesy and out dated it is actually ridiculous. The pictures of Stallone etc on the walls from the Rocky I era have to go. The service is atrocious, we had one waiter who did everything (for the entire floor) while a bunch of goons in tuxedos just walked around aimlessly. I wish I could find a job that paid me to wear a tux and just stand there to look stupid. The waiter also does this super bizarre and rushed "show" before dinner where he basically juggles a potato in front of your face....I think the the best part of dinner was when that was finally over and then the second best part was the ride home when we all made fun of the place and speculated on how they can possibly still be in business. Oh and by the way they are so absurdly overpriced its almost embarrassing. Maybe if a decent steakhouse moved in there Houston's wouldn't have a 2 plus hour wait every friday and saturday night! I've been to Morton's in other cities and they were pretty good but the one in Hackensack was pretty bad...not once but twice. The first time was an absolute disaster. Apps came out cold and my steak which was order Pittsburgh rare came out medium-rare and without the char that is expected. I went back again for a party and this time the steak was good but the apps were again disappointing (cold and tough scallops). read more

3.75 stars. The good: The absolute best tuna tartare imaginable. Yes, in a steakhouse. Beautiful tuna atop beautiful avocado atop beautiful tomatoes, adorned with beautiful sauce, dusted with beautiful seeds. The sides are yummy. The steaks are quite good, perhaps even great. Service is phenomenal. The "show" that's put on to demonstrate the different cuts of beef is cute - although I think seeing it more than once would be annoying. The bad: The PRICE. It's exorbitantly expensive for what you get. You can get great steaks at significantly less expensive restaurants, and I don't even remember the type of steak I ordered or the dessert... but I am craving that tuna tartare! read more

I've been to Morton's a few times here in Manhattan and was always pleased with the service, ambiance, and the food. This location, however, is a joke. First, I find the practice of carting out a trolly of "show food" peculiar and affected: Our waitress steered out this big cart to our table and literally held up a head of lettuce and shallots to help us visualize (?) the various available elements on the salad menu. What? Why? I'm fairly confident that most people know what lettuce looks like. Next, she held up a heavy four foot platter of cellophane-sealed bloody uncooked slabs of meat, pointing to each one and naming the cut. Awkward. Made me remember those PETA slaughterhouse videos and re-question the ethics of my decision to stop being a vegetarian. The disturbing part, though, is when she told us that lobster is also on the menu. To demonstrate this, she picked this giant live lobster off the dish and brandished him above our table while his little legs frantically scrambled at the air. Now, I'm no longer a vegetarian, and I do occasionally eat lobster, but there is something distinctly inappropriate and inhumane about having these carts full of live lobsters sitting out in the air on platters all day long, slowly dying. All through dinner, I saw one squirming around on his plate and it really upset me. What is the point in forcing lobsters to die a long uncomfortable death and forcing everybody to witness it? It's just awful. If you want to eat a lobster, knife the back of its neck and then boil it. The end. Why parade around a dying creature in a spirit of bizarre pretension? It's just cruel and it speaks volumes about the kind of psychology behind this facility's management. After placing our food order, the sommelier comes to our table with only two glasses-one for each of my parents. My brother and I are not provided glasses. When my brother asks for one, she snaps, "I'm going to have to see your ID". He takes it out and it reflects that he is a week away from turning 21. She says, "I can't serve you wine; I could get arrested." Right. Wow. Okay. Then I ask for a glass. She demands to see my ID, too. I tell her I am 32 (I am). She gets chippy and says, "Ma'am, I'm going to need to see your ID", in a tone befitting an overworked traffic cop. So I go through my clutch and realize all I brought were my keys and iPhone--no license. I laugh and show her the interior of the clutch, demonstrating I didn't even bring my wallet. "Well, then, I can't serve you" she quips. I say I can show her the pictures on my cell of my passport and driver's license that I keep in an Evernote file but she tells me, "that wouldn't be valid". So there we are celebrating my dad's 60th birthday and she'd just corked the $300 bottle of wine that we ordered.... but my brother and I can't toast because we are refused glasses. (Ok, to be honest, when she turned her back, we drained our water cups, filled them with the sweet nectar, and carried on. But still. What a petty and unnecessarily negative cast to bring to a table of guests.) The Food: Filet mignon with Bearnaise was bland and the butter seemed off. Good but not great Oysters Rockefeller. Asparagus in balsamic was divine. Key lime pie very rich and dense. Delicious. read more

I took my wife here this past Saturday, 6/9 for her birthday. The service was awesome, the shrimp appetizer was very good. The side dishes of potatoes au gratin and spinach and mushrooms were very good. My wife said her filet mignon was good. I ordered the cajun ribeye but it had no spices at all. I had to put a lot of salt and pepper on it. It was tough and chewy. It tasted like I bought it at shoprite and cooked it in the frying pan. This was not a sixty dollar steak. It was a fifteen dollar steak that was overpriced. I actually like the steaks at The Longhorn better ! LOL read more

This is my second time coming to Morton's under Joe Roken management. Terrible experience and I will not return. Made reservations last Saturday night for a special occasion. We called and told them that we were running a little late to keep our reservation; however, when we arrived they said they gave our table away, so we will have to wait. Once we were finally seated, we asked for a booth since (2) were empty. Joe had to think about it! They finally moved us, however, service was terrible. We had our salad and after an hour our dinner had not arrived, no one came by, no one offered any explanation. That was it - we decided to leave, Joe came over saying he will contact us for a free dinner - Never heard from him. Never had this problem when Michael was in charged. Will not return and I have been coming here for over 12 years!! Stay away; with this type of service for this high-end restaurant, there are much better places to spend my money read more

I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday last weekend and everything was hit! We usually go to the one in great neck or the city but we decided to check out what NJ has to offer. It was really good. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and it had the right amount of salt. For sides, we had the the cream spinach, the lobster Mac & cheese (delicious), and the Brussels Sprouts. Unbelievable food and service. One of the best NY Strips around, full of flavor and not a shred of fat to be seen. The sides are all amazing....we love the lyannaise potatoes and the brussell sprouts (believe it or not) which are cooked with bacon and onions. The seafood platter appetizers will make your mouth water, and the fish entrees are all solid. Oh and don't forget the tuna tartare tower. Excellent drinks and desserts too (my wife loves their cosmo), and a decent selection of scotch too. Yes, it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. read more

Can't get into NYC to Sparks, Luger or Smith and Wollinsky, give Morton's a try. They have excellent service and great steaks. The first time my wife and I ate there several years ago she had the steak Diane and I had the Cajun Rib Eye. Both steaks were superb. The sides are excellent too and they have several excellent appetizers including their tuna tarare which is a great appetizer. Also their slightly smaller steaks are so large that you will always have left overs for a doggy bag. Unless you have a huge stomach. ;) I must say that the Morton's salad is terrific made from a mixture of Romaine Lettuce, Hearts of Palm, Artichoke Hearts, Plum Tomato, Bacon, Red Onion & Blue Cheese. Delicious! Conservative decor, but elegant. Great waiting staff. Large glasses of wine. We have since gone back many times when in the mood for steak. For my money the Cajun Rib Eye is awesome. Though I did try some Wagyu Rib Eye from King's and that steak was better than any I've ever eaten at a restaurant or at home. read more

Morton's fired on all cylinder's on our visit last night. The night got off to a slow start, as I ordered a South African bottle, waitress disappeared for a spell, came back to tell us the cellar was out of that particular bottle. My opinion is that a restaurant at Morton's price point, striving to provide a classy dining experience, should know and update the inventory of the wine cellar daily, plus share it with the servers or edit the wine menu to reflect current availability of stock. However, she told us that the manager had recommended a Napa Valley substitute. After our consent, the manager personally brought over the bottle, and he made a good choice, the wine was excellent. Bread was an airy and light onion roll, large enough to last the entire meal. Our waitress was personable and efficient, answering all questions and providing suggestions. The other staff kept the water glasses full and cleared dishes at the proper time. To start the meal, we had 2 super fresh cold seafood plates, complete with lobster, shrimp, oysters and lump crab meat. A special appetizer of heirloom tomatoes and burrata cheese was both large and tasty. Now let's get literally to the meat and potatoes of this review. My lady ordered the 6 ounce filet, she ordered it well done, and the waitress was wise to suggest that the cut be served butterfly style, which allowed the meat to cook to the desired doneness evenly, as her steak was perfect. I ordered the 12 ounce, "Oscar style", crab meat, asparagus and béarnaise, I prefer mine medium rare and the chef did not disappoint, as it too, was perfect. Large sides of creamed spinach and Lyonnaise potatoes paired well with the steaks. A nice evening ended with us splitting the ice cream sundae with a lave type cake underneath, the serving was huge, more than enough for two people. Morton's may be higher priced than other options nearby but worth it for the quality of food and service. read more

This is definitely an expensive place to eat. I recommend if for anniversaries or special occasions if you have the money. We went on a Wednesday night and had made reservations ahead of time. However, we still had a long wait for the server to come take our orders and even longer for the food. Absolutely fantastic!! I cannot say enough about the food and the attentiveness of the staff. First, the reservations were made online. During the process they ask you to check off the type of event. I marked off 'anniversary', and thought nothing of it. We arrive, I mention my name and that we had reservations. The hostess welcomes us with 'Happy Anniversary!' , but thankfully not too loud to make a scene. We sat at a booth which I highly recommend. The staff was amazing, the tables were not too close, and the food was fantastic! I ordered the rid-eye on the bone, the boyfriend ordered the porterhouse. Both were substantial, but we knew we would be taking the extra home. Our side dishes were potatoes a gratin, and creamed spinach. We finished off the evening by sharing a creme brulee. Overall it was a pricey evening, but we only go on occasions like this. I would like to add that the waitress took a photo of us which was printed for us to remember the evening. The promotions are phenomenal like tonight we had a price fixe meal for $55 each which included an appetizer, entree, side and dessert. We had an awesome waitress named Ashley tonight. My date and I went early last year. You go up a long flight of stairs to get to the dining area, which is huge. The noise level is up there and the tables are kind of too close for comfort, because anyone can ease drop and hear your conversation. The food was good though. Steak was very tender and tasty. My only con would be they brought a cart of live lobsters to stare me in the face, and asked me to choose which one. Um, no thanks..sending a lobster to its boiling live death is not my style. Morton's is a good steakhouse food wise but I can't seem to like the atmosphere. In my humble opinion, the place tries extremely hard to live up to the expectations of some of the patrons which for whatever reason feel they are royalty. This isn't the establishment's fault though. I highly recommend this place to anyone for a good steak, but what is up with the server asking me to leave the tip in cash because credit card tips are taxed? Really? My tax rate for 2015 was above the clouds and I don't ask my boss to pay me in cash to avoid taxes. read more

I really wish I could say that this establishment did justice with my meal considering it took 2 hours to eat. The server was seemingly nice when he took our drink orders. Our drinks took about 20-30 minutes to come out after we ordered them. At this point we had already ordered our appetizers and then the staff bring out our salads. As we finished our salads the staff began to bring out our main course. At this point we had not received our appetizers aside from our salads and we were confused as to what happened to them. The manager kindly informed us that the server never put in our appetizers. They brought our main course back to the kitchen and assured us that they would discard of them and start fresh after we received our appetizers. We received the appetizers and our expectations were already low but the seafood was very underwhelming as the lobster was extremely tough. When we finally received our entrees after 1 hour of waiting (mind you we were one of the few tables in the restaurant) a majority of the steaks were cold and we had to send back a few. I will give credit to server/manager that took over our table because she was very hospitable and competent. Came here for an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. It was surprisingly empty, which made me a bit nervous, but I had nothing to worry about! We were served by Claire, who was incredibly personable. She explained the menu in detail-- from memory! We started with oysters, which were delicious. I had the 8oz filet with a side of dipping butter (it had a different name!). We shared a dish of mashed potatoes, which were topped at the table with bacon, butter, and sour cream. My steak was absolutely phenomenal! My medium-rare was a touch more rare than I'm accustomed to, but it was juicy and tender. The potatoes were also good, but I admit to not having much room for them after the steak! We skipped dessert as we were both too full, but I had a hot tea. They provide a nice selection when you order, which I appreciated. Though other patrons came and went, it remained rather empty throughout our meal, which meant we had an intimate corner of the restaurant to ourselves. Having been to some really incredible steakhouses, franchises always make me just a little nervous. I have to say though that Mortons does a great job from the moment you walk in. Host/hostess very welcoming. One we sat down, we were a party of 5 and were in no rush and they let us take our time ordering. Very friendly and accommodating wait staff as well. Cocktails I was disappointed with. I'm a big fan of a good dirty martini. I go gin, usually Hendricks or aviation with blue cheese olives so it's not a complicated drink but was underwhelming. The appetizers were good. Got the tuna tower which was very good. Also got the crab cakes which were very tasty. I got the bone in rib eye which was very good. Perfectly medium rare, how I like it. Overall it was a great dinner experience. Never felt rushed, never felt like we had to wait to get a new drink or bottle. Great service top to bottom. read more

Cajun Rib eye - very good, tasty, juicy well cooked good flavor Salmon- huge portion, cooked well ,very tasty Fillet Mignon- another good steak, tasty, well seasoned Macaroni and cheese- it was good (mine is better..LOL) Shrimp Alexander - Yummy,very good, huge shrimp but just 4 of them not good enough to share with 4 people at a table because then you get just one.. lol Asparagus- excellent, grilled with a balsamic glaze..very good mashed potatoes- nothing spectacular, just good Chocolate Molten cake- must order with meal, it was good I probably have had many more things here. The food is good and so is the service they give you a long lesson when you first arrive to your table to tell you about their cuts of meat and about all of their other things that they offer. Only go here if you have the extra money to spend. It is expensive. read more
