The only thing that I did NOT enjoy were the "pop rocks" in my chocolate pudding desert! How childish! As soon as I walked in, I was seated with no wait time even though they were pretty busy. My husband and I dined here for Christmas. Our reservations were very on the whim. When we arrived there was a cluster of people outside on the late Thursday evening. Our sever was very gracious. It was only a few delayed minutes they made us wait to be seated by the hostess. Upon seating, I couldn't help notice all the highly melanated people were seated in the back close to the high heat wafing from the kitchen. There was a highly melanted single woman to my right and a couple of the same hue to my left. Right beside them another table of similar hue all in the back. The entire back row was filled with highly melanted folk while the front of the restaurant those of a paler complexion were seated. I don't believe in coincidences so that was very ... interesting to say the least. We also did not receive bread. At Morton's in NYC and LA bread is always served. Moving on to my meal. I asked for a medium filet extra char. The steak came out at the right temperature yet burned crispy lol. The additional garlic butter I ordered did nothing to mask or help the taste. My husband ordered a filet as well, with blue cheese butter. It was delicious. If I didn't have a history of ordering xtra char filet medium from good steakhouses I would've thought I did something wrong. My husband switched steaks with me and even he said it was burnt ruining the flavor of the garlic butter and the entire steak. We made this apparent to our waitress and she was nothing but accommodating and charming and honestly it wasn't her fault it was the cook in the back. Our appetizer was delicious. Way better than my steak. The crispy wrapped bacon and apricot chutney was devine. The apricot chutney has a strong horseradish flavor that was such a nice touch. I would say they rival Vick & Anthony scallops maybe even better. For desert we ordered the hot chocolate cake was delicious as well. I really enjoyed my meal minus my own steak. It disappointed me as I've been multiple places and they understand not to burn my steak to achieve a nice xtra char. The service within itself was phenomenal. I've dined at the other HTX location and they've gotten it right steak wise. Hopefully next time I have get a better steak here. Two foodies from Houston, We celebrated my husband's birthday at Morton's tonight. While we are not new customers, it has been a minute since our last review. Morton's is one of the few chain restaurants that we enjoy. The restaurant is located in downtown Houston which offers valet parking. Ambiance is casual elegance. Staff is professional yet friendly. We enjoyed the holiday drink, Naughty, before dinner in their cozy bar. Personally, we have always enjoyed our meals. I sure do miss the Mixed Grill dish that was my favorite. They offer steaks for foodies who enjoy the taste of beef. They do offer enhancements if you need a sauce or topping. I do enjoy an Oscar Style Crab topping. We ordered the WAGYU BAVETTE and FILET MIGNON & LOBSTER TAIL both medium done with sour cream mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach and button mushrooms. Served with warm onion bread and butter. Dessert was the new three layer chocolate cake. Our food was cooked to order, delicious, and satisfying. Remember, their steaks are for foodies who enjoy the taste of good beef. I attended a presentation hosted by CVENT at The Morton's Steakhouse. The hostess greeted me promptly and escorted me to the private dining room. The staff were pleasant and efficient, quickly taking my order from the menu options once I took my seat. The caesar salad and dinner rolls were tasty. The entrees arrived shortly after. The steak was tender, seasoned well, and moist. I didn't need anything to add to it as it had lots of flavor and was juicy. The green beans and mashed potatoes were fair. Nothing really exceptional, but still tasty. The star of the afternoon was the Espresso Pot De Crème, a lovely chocolate mousse served in a cup made from vibrantly colored chocolate. We were greeted with a smile. We were treated like royalty as the hostess put celebration sparked on our table. We started with some Wagyu Beef Dumplings, which were extra tasty. We then each ordered the 2-COURSE PRIME LUNCH for $32.00 each. You pick a choice of soup or salad and pick an entree, fyi it includes a side. We also added on Onion Rings, which were just ok. The big surprise was a complimentary dessert of chocolate molten cake for husband's Birthday. They also took a complimentary picture of us and printed it out for us to take home and remember the special occasion. Every thing here is great and people that work here really made us feel special as several employees stopped to check on us and wish my husband a special birthday. We were an early reservation and the place was not too busy which is great. The place is dark and elegant. The food was excellent. The bread was a stellar start... so, so good. The crab cakes the shrimp were excellent. We all pretty much ordered steaks, and they were cooked so well. The pork chop was good too. The creamed corn was a little small, but the asparagus and Mac and cheese were fabulous. We also enjoyed cream brûlée, chocolate cake, and bread pudding. The chocolate cake is basically a lava cake and needs 20 minutes to prepare, so order that earlier if you have a time constraint. The service was out of this world. read more

Came for my cousins 40th birthday. Ambiance was great, quiet and not packed at all. The food was okay, I would've preferred for the temperature of both my ravioli and bisque to be warmer. The other guest at my table were not that impressed with some of their sides. However our drinks were made very well, I personally had the seasonal sangria and I enjoyed it. I used to really love this place, it was my go-to steakhouse for years. But after choosing it for my 25th birthday dinner, I'm deeply disappointed. Everything I ordered was either bland, flavorless, or just flat-out unpleasant. I got the crab cake appetizer (just okay), garlic mashed potatoes (very bland - I had to add butter and salt), brussels sprouts (honestly disgusting, couldn't salvage them), lemon blueberry cheesecake (mediocre and definitely not made in-house), and a tomahawk steak (chewy and completely lacking in flavor). My sister and I were both shocked at how bad the food was. We barely touched it and are considering throwing the rest out, even though it cost over $300. I don't know if the issue was because it was a to-go order, or if the restaurant has changed suppliers or chefs, but something was seriously off. I've had nearly this exact meal before, and it was amazing, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. This was one of my favorite spots, it use to be reliable, high quality, and consistent. But after this, I won't be going back. It completely ruined my birthday meal, which was a thoughtful gift from my mom and something I had looked forward to for weeks. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the service has typically been good in the past, and I appreciated the complimentary birthday cheesecake. Still, I can't in good conscience recommend this place anymore. My sister is now planning to take me somewhere else to make up for the experience. I went to Morton's specifically for the Veuve Bubbles and Bites special, and unfortunately the experience was a major letdown. For the overall experience, I give it a 2/10. The entire reason I came was for the Veuve Clicquot presentation that's being advertised everywhere, including the signature yellow Veuve box. Neither the downtown nor the Galleria locations actually have the Veuve box, which completely defeats the purpose of the promotion. Like where's the budget?? Pricing wise, I'd give it a 4 or 5 out of 10. It was $10 for two sliders/fries and $19 for the champagne. At that price point, I could have easily gotten a burger, fries, and champagne somewhere else. I wasn't coming for value, I was coming for the experience. Blah. What made it more frustrating is that my bartender, Melissa, did not mention that the Veuve box was not included when I ordered. Someone came in after me and she explained it to them, but by then I had already ordered, so it was too late. That lack of transparency really impacted the experience. She was locked in with them. The oysters were the one bright spot. They were solid and pretty good. I'd give the oysters an 8 or 9 out of 10. Overall, while the food itself wasn't bad, the experience was nonexistent. After a review of the cocktail menu online - there was no doubt about choosing Morton's downtown for happy hour and a snack - sat at the bar. My Gentleman had The Penthouse - loved it. The lemon drop martinis are always on point. Wagyu pot-stickers were delicious. The bartender was fantastic - I hate that I didn't catch his name. He was funny and attentive - and cocktails were so good. My experience here was too disappointing not to share. I came for a friend's birthday dinner and expected Morton's to deliver the fine dining quality they're known for. Food:The steak was bland, overcooked, and oddly topped with crab meat and chopped asparagus ends -- yes, the tough woody pieces that should've never made it out of the kitchen. The lobster tail was the only redeeming item on the plate. Service:For the prices Morton's charges, the quality and presentation should've been flawless. To make matters worse, our server quoted us one price and charged a higher one on the final bill. When questioned, she acted surprised and went and got the manger who came out and said the price is subject to change. Which would have been fine has our waitress pointed that out from the beginning. The manger only fixed if for 1 check instead of both where the amount wasnt correct! His excuse was hes not able to remove a certain amount of the receipt. What? At a high-end restaurant, transparency and professionalism are the bare minimum. Overall, between the mediocre food, confusion over pricing, and lack of attention to detail, this visit was not worth the hype or the cost. After our first disappointing experience with this restaurant, we were asked to come back to the restaurant, and I am so glad we did. I had the finest meal there I have in many years. I had a petite filet that was cooked to perfection. It was incredibly tender and flavorful. I cannot say enough about the service we received at Mortons @ The Woodlands. Last minute I told my husband I wanted lobster for my birthday dinner. My son made the reservation in which he included that we were celebrating a birthday and that lobster was my entree of choice. The manager, Joe went above and beyond to make sure lobster was what I had. As it turns out they didn't have lobster in the restaurant so he called four other restaurants (competitors at that) before he found one, purchased it, and drove to pick it up. He even gave up a prime parking spot on a concert night, all to make sure this guest got what she wanted. When we arrived, the host knew exactly who we were. Maddy our server was excellent and graciously honored every request. Our salads were superb, the steaks were cooked to perfection, and my lobster was absolutely delicious! Oh and did I mention they printed personalized menus for my special day and presented me with a generous birthday dessert (with icecream and a candle). I truly felt special. I came for a mixer and the spread was so amazing and quality I came back the next day after my conference to get another taste. Unfortunately the second time around was not as quality. The 8 oz filet was a cheaper and rougher cut of steak than the ribeye we had at the mixer. The ribeye at the mixer had a perfect crust of flavor and was perfectly medium. My filet was tough and burnt tasting. I did get the addition of bacon wrapped scallops which were two delicious scallops in crispy bacon. I wanted maybe three tho. At the mixer we had amazing lump crab, prosciutto wrapped mozzarella, mini crab cakes. Everything was delicious. Sad to say I was disappointed by coming back for dinner read more

We worked through it and ultimately the experience left us full and happy. This was a business dinner and the price was a little high for having no adult drinks. I've been to plenty of Morton's restaurants, but this was my first time at this location. The setting: Houston Restaurant Weeks 2022 + a friend's birthday. I had a reservation in which I'd noted that we were there for both. Upon arriving at the restaurant, however, our server didn't know that we were there to celebrate my friends' birthday or for Houston Restaurant Weeks. When our server brought out the HRW menu, it was printed in such a tiny piece of paper, that it was really difficult to read it in a dimly lit restaurant. Pretty comical if you ask me but hey, I used my phone's camera to help read it. Technology is awesome, am I right? Our server was super friendly and super awesome. As soon as she learned that we were there to celebrate my friend's birthday, she went in and got some glitters for the table to make it more festive and she was apologetic for not realizing that we were there for a celebration. In addition, she was attentive and had the answer to all of our questions. No complaints about the service whatsoever. Food? Delicious, as one can expect from a prime steakhouse. All the steaks were cooked right as ordered. All the sides were good, and the desserts were yum. Parking? We were here Saturday night for dinner, and it was pretty easy for me to find street parking within a block of the restaurant. Yes, they do offer valet but I personally don't like valet so I chose not to use that service. The birthday boy, however, did and he had no complaints with the valet service. Morton's is in downtown near a lot of offices, and I have only been during lunchtime. The place is very dark and sleek like it was a set decorated in a lames Bond movie. The two times I have been there, their service was okay, though. The servers all took quite some time before coming to us. My favorite is the bread. I love how the bread comes out hot, and it tastes slightly sweet. It's soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. For the main meal, I ordered the filet mignon power lunch with peppercorn sauce and a side of mashed potatos, which was included. It also came with a salad. I think what's all included in the power lunch was a pretty good deal. I tried both the truffle butter sauce and peppercorn sauce, but I would have to say the peppercorn is my favorite. I would go back just for the sauce! I ordered the filet mignon medium, but it came out more cooked. Overall, I would say the food is pretty solid, nothing life changing, but still good. read more

I have loved Morton's for years. But my husband and I ate here for our anniversary on Dec 27, 2024, at the downtown Houston location, and we were both disappointed. I have visited this location before, and it's always been a good experience. We paid nearly $300 dollars for our meals, and his steak was like rubber and scorched, and my rack of lamb was so tough I could barely cut them with a knife! They were scorched too, as if a blow torch had been taken to them, pretty gross. The way our orders were cooked, we could have eaten at Texas Road House and been more satisfied and paid way less. I am not sure if they've changed management or chefs, but the quality now is pretty poor for the prices they are charging. On a good note, the wine and bread were the hits of the night. read more

This was our first visit to a Morton's Steakhouse! Something we didn't know, which may be a normal thing at fancier steakhouses, everything was à la cart. My husband got a steak, with some onions and mushrooms and it was absolutely delicious. We also split a house salad, which was also very good. They even put it on 2 separate plates for us! For my meal I got the lobster mac and cheese and 1 crab cake. The crab cake was very good, lots of crab! I was a bit disappointed in the mac and cheese. $25, and only 2 small pieces of lobster in it. Although, it was tasty, I don't think I would label it lobster mac! As an overall experience, we enjoyed it. We sat in the bar area and think that was a better fit for us two. Our waiter was amazing. I've been to Morton's restaurants all over the U.S., from Honolulu to NYC. They are consistently the best steak--easily a level above places like Ruth's Chris. I like a tender cut of meat, so filet mignon is my steak of choice. Morton's always does it just right. The meat melts in my mouth, and with the black truffle butter on top, the flavor can't be beat. Sometimes I'll get their prime burger, which is only available at the bar. It's 10 ounces of meaty deliciousness. All in all, I consider Morton's the top steakhouse in America.
