Went back again for dinner at Morton's on a moderately quiet Saturday evening. We started with the Crispy Nueske's Bacon Steak (the bacon now comes on top of crispy rice) and the French Onion Soup and enjoyed them both. For our entrees, we had the Dry-Aged Ribeye, Rack of Lamb and Ora King Salmon - all excellent. Our server Betsy (Elizabeth), who recognized us from past visits, was terrific - friendly and helpful. The space is very comfortable and open. The service was attentive and it should be since I was the only one in the place. First thing to come out as a First thing to come out as a gigantic ball of warm onion bread, which was tasty. Unfortunately, my ribeye although cooked perfectly was very tough and chewy. The definition of a high end steakhouse. The service was amazing. A perfect balance between quick enough when we needed to make a show, and never rushing us. We started with French onion soup and a wedge salad. Both were great and we shared both. The wedge salad was the most delicious, large, and loaded wedge we had ever had. I wish I took a photo. They also start you with a giant, hot, onion loaf. It was the freshest and most delicious bread. I wish I would've eaten more. For our entree, we shared a tomahawk which was perfectly cooked and seasoned perfectly! The sides were the BEST! We had au gratin potatoes and creamed corn. The sizes were huge for 2 people and we didn't finish them, but absolutely recommend! The creamed corn was unique and not something I've had before! We made a reservation and went early. My friend and I came here for dinner after seeing that Morton's had a steak and seafood special we were interested in. For my starter, I had the wedge Caesar salad, which was very good, and my friend had the lobster bisque and enjoyed it as well. For my main course, I had the filet mignon with a crab cake, and my side was the potato au gratin. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée, and it was perfection. Morton's is consistently good no matter the location. The financial district location in NYC (attached to the Club Quarters Hotel) is no exception. And, when you're a weary business traveler looking for something super easy and convenient, it's hard to beat "right off the lobby of my hotel" I was exhausted after a full work day plus travel to the city... I checked into my hotel and just wanted something easy, but good. When I saw there was a Morton's attached to my hotel, that sealed the deal. I didn't even have to wear a coat of go outside to visit I had 6 oysters to start. They were perfectly chilled and briny! Awesome. Then I had the smallest stake I could order - an 8 oz filet mignon. The good The service and ambiance is very good. The bad The appetizer " shrimp Italian style and the shrimp cocktail were excellent. The main course Dry aged ribeye came out medium instead of medium rare, after returning it it came out ok. The 8oz Filet came out somewhere between medium rare but closer to medium. The meat was basically disassembled along the fibers when tortured with the serrated steak knife. Chewy dry unappetizing not even up to Texas Roadhouse standards, let alone a reputable steakhouse. If steak is your business having steaks come out wrong cannot be excused. Will definitely never come back. read more

Outback is better. Ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it came out wrong twice. The first steak arrived medium well. After mentioning this to the server, it was returned and came back very rare. I brought it up again and it was taken back a second time. How can you call yourself a "steakhouse" and not be able to cook a steak? The correct doneness eventually came out but still tasted bland despite all of the effort. Also tried the wagyu burger and the meat came out overly cooked and very dry. Yes, it's a chain. Yes, it's in a tourist trafficked area. Yes, it's pricey. And: yes. Morton's does an excellent steak. I booked an early birthday dinner for myself on a Saturday evening. Being in the Financial District on a Saturday, I wasn't entirely surprised to see a lack of crowds, though I was the only diner on the first floor. My steakhouse order doesn't change much: shrimp cocktail + steak + mushrooms + whiskey drink. The shrimp cocktail here had some of the largest shrimp I've seen, served with some properly zippy cocktail sauce. While ribeye is my go to cut, I went with a dry aged strip instead. It was done a perfect medium rare but a little too charred on the edges. The accompanying side of spinach and mushrooms added a nice flavour contrast but was in need of some other seasoning. And the whiskey drink? A fine Manhattan with Woodford Reserve + sweet vermouth + cherries + orange peel + ...steak. It may seem gimmicky to garnish a cocktail with a small piece of prime beef, but it works. read more

It's hard to go wrong with a steakhouse but wow it was pretty bad. Even asking for a1 sauce took about 12 minutes. The steak was bland the spinach was bland. Both needed loads of salt and a1, which took forever to get. The lobster bisque was good and so was the ceaser salad. Their raw bar is also pretty good. Service was a c minus at best. The decor needs an update. The lighting fixtures creeped me out. The steak wasn't grilled and the bread was stale. read more

When you think of places out-of-towners would frequent, what name comes to mind? To me, Ruth's Chris and Benihana's fit the bill. Honestly, one we frequented before has been Capital Grille. We stopped into this Morton's Steakhouse location about two blocks South of the World Trade Center, tucked between two hotels, and across the street from the future site of 5 World Trade Center. We had a mid week lunch late in the day, so it wasn't too busy. The decor I would categorize as 1980's bar lounge. Black with art decoish embellishments. We sat at a table harking to booths you would find common in 1980's establishments. A place Mike Pence would find comfort in, should he decide to campaign in The Big Apple. The food was good. Our server brought us a warm fluffy loaf of bread, dotted with browned onions. I liked the butter that spread effortlessly. I had the filet mignon, very tender and nicely seasoned. My wife had the pork chop. The photo does not do it justice, as it is humongous. I loved the taste I got from it. Cuts like buttah. We were there for Restaurant Week, but were surprised that the daily lunch special nearly matched the Restarant Week deal. King of the Road played in the dining room, along with tunes by Sammy Davis, Jr, and Frank Sinatra. Norah Jones' Cheatin' Heart fit the playlist, too. Okay, back to the future. read more

Came in Friday night and greatly enjoyed my time at Morton's. My wife and I sat in the upstairs dining room and greatly enjoyed our night. I got the NY Strip and it was probably the best steak I've ever eaten in my life (and I eat a lot of steak). Despite Lent being over, my wife still got the salmon. It was a special night so it called for a special dinner and Mortons was our choice. We originally had a early reservation but had to push it back, they were very accommodating. We arrived, found parking and was at our table in less than 10 mins. We were greeted by a staff member, temperature checked and introduced to our waiter. He ran off the specials for the night and made some recommendations. The crab cake was ok..but everything else....Amazing. the crusty onion loaf was warm and delicious, the seafood tower fresh and tasty and our tomahawks and feliet mignon FlavorFul!!! Waitress was pleasant and not overly engaging. The ventilation system was working a little too good, making dining with any part of my skin exposed uncomfortable. Amazing dinner. Came here for my partners birthday. For some reason he thought the restaurant was located inside of the actual world trade building. Although it was not we still had a lovely evening celebrating his birthday. We usually visit the great neck location. This location had a very similar ambiance and theme. We were started downstairs with literally no other Guests. No problem...private dining room! Our food was amazing as it always is at Morton's. But the star of our night was our server Tiara. She gave us awesome service! Atrentitive but not over bearing. Her personality was truly delightful.
