I could give 3 stars if the prices were half of what they are right now. The meals are disappointingly average and definitely not worth it. If you are charging $60 for an entree, well, sorry dude but you can't make mistakes there. You can't just apologize for an overcooked ribeye. Steak houses like Texas de Brazil, Fogo de Chao have a lot better steaks and you eat all-you-can with the same price. So disappointing. We'd had an almost flawless company party here earlier in the month & expected the same at Morton's on Christmas night. The disappointment was the overall service. We waited ~20 mins in the bar before our reservation & never saw a bartender. Instead waiters & the hostess were pouring wine & drinks for their tables on the run - none looking or responding to us after 10 mins of waiting patiently for a bartender to surface. We finally caught the hostess on the 3rd pass. It was more of the same during the meal which was odd. There were oodles of wait & bus staff but all were extraordinarily intent on their tasks (like buffing glasses) or getting from point a to b. We spent too much time waiting for the small things a higher end restaurant is expected to manage well. Water refills, plates & knives for the bread, cocktail order, our check. Most of the food was very good but not better than other quality restaurants. Honestly - the promise of top quality service (in conjunction with top quality food) is what allows Morton's to charge the over the top prices. The Reston Town Center location is terrible. Hands down, terrible. I went there a couple weekends ago and I don't know what it is but it just went down hill. For a "premium" chain and award winning steaks, this place flat out...ed. Service with a smile: where? Class act by Morton's! We went to Morton's for our anniversary dinner. I love the festive dining rooms. Reservation check in was done immediately, and we were seated in a minute. We ordered our wine. They have a very extensive wine menu. The oyster Rockefeller was excellent! We had the boned-in ribeye (hefty serving) and the filet mignon (oscar style) medium rare and they were cooked to perfection. The mushroom and grilled asparagus sides were very tasty. They comped a raspberry souffle dessert for our anniversary celebration. Very nice of them. Service was very friendly and well-timed. 6 people asked us about our food/experience. I cannot say enough about the incredible experience we had here. I took my husband for his birthday and they made everything extremely special for him. From the time we walked in the hostess and manager came up to him and said Happy Birthday. They printed a special menu for us and the hostess came up and took our photo, printed it and gave it to us in a cute display to take home. Every part of the service, eapecially our server, was amazing. Then there is the food. This food was well worth every single penny we spent on it. For a special event this is the place to go. The steaks we had were cooked to perfection. It was by far the best food we have had out in a long time. We did not have one complaint. Even the lava cake was made to order and you could taste the difference. This is worth a visit. It is my wife's Bday and when I made the reservation I let them know and they never even mentioned it. I am actually pissed about the service.... Went to Mortons again for our weekly Morton Mondays. This time, I had the Lobster Bisque, Atlantic Salmon entree, and Double Chocolate Mousse dessert. The Lobster Bisque was gross. Butter and cream soup with a piece of lobster (I hope it was lobster) may sound delicious, but was not. I've never had lobster bisque before, so I can't really compare it to others. I think I did my heart a favor and stopped after a few spoonfuls. I got the Salmon medium-rare. It was good. I usually get the steaks, but I wanted to try something new this time. Salmon is salmon though, so unless it's bad, it's just a regular dish. The double chocolate mousse is amazing. It could probably feed 2, but I powered through it and crushed it all. Last time I went, it was $25 for the 3-course lunch special. Today was $29. Times are tough - we're in a recession, people are losing their homes and jobs. Whether at the bar for Power Hour or in the formal dining room, Morton's is excellent and well worth the prices. My last visit was at the bar during happy hour where the bites were a delicious bargain. The service staff is very attentive. Although they had to contend with a sudden crush of customers and demands, they did so with grace and efficiency. read more

My first Mortons experience was at the original in Chicago. Since moving to NOVA we've made this location our own. We only get there about twice a year - on my birthday and on our anniversary but they always treat us like we're weekly regulars. Typically for the anniversary they create a custom menu with our names and such (kinda hokey but appreciate the effort) and throw in a desert - much more impressed with this. We normally ask for Eddy - he's a Pinoy waiter and does an excellent job. My wife get sthe bone in rib-eye and I get the cold seafood platter for 2 and then we split. Always make sure you order the lava cake with your meal - it takes a while to make. If you go you have to know you're going to spend money there isn't any way around that, but the beef is top notch - seared at about a million degrees from both top and bottom which creates an unbelievable crisp outer char all over the steak. Simply amazing. Beyond the food (which is outstanding) the wait staff is most impressive. They've cracked the code on balancing attention vs. annoyance. My water glass is never empty but I'm also never annoyed by some idiot asking if the tiger sized bite of steak in my mouth is to my liking. Very classy, very consistent, very value based. read more

This review is based on their lunch only. I got the club sandwich which I thought was delicious. Lots of meat and the bread is toasted on better. Their fries were very good (similar to the counter fries). Colleagues got the prime burger which they all raved about as well. Lunch is a bit pricey but nothing too unreasonable. When you walk in the place is pretty dim so I could barely see the stairs ahead of me. So watch your step. read more

Great food, wonderful service! I have become a regular at this establishment as the BF loves a good drink and a cigar (or 2-3) after his meal. The staff is fantastic; not stuffy at all and treat you well if you order a power hour $5 bar bite or a $50 steak... My new favorite cut is the bone-in filet; with steamed asparagus and mac and cheese...tip...ask for the mac and cheese with a tad more spice...delicious! As for bar bites, the mini crabcakes and sliders are my faves. Overall, a great place for great food and drinks and a non-stuffy atmosphere! read more

Not impressed at all, and rather disappointed with the food and service. I've made better porterhouse at home for a fraction of the price. I was also disappointed with the service; the server's demeanor was a bit patronizing and commenced to explain the entire menu after I mentioned it was my first, and now highly likely last, time I go there. Best steak in NOVA! What more can I say, it's Morton's done right. We've had nothing but top notch service and unforgettable food from this location. My wife and I enjoy getting the Steak and Seafood 3 course that comes with a salad, appetizer (shrimp or scallops), main course (Filet mignon), a side and dessert (chocolate lava cake). Steakhouses never disappoint me. Mastro's, Gibson's, Houston's and even Outback have all been good to me. Expensive, but always satisfying. Morton's is no different: Well seasoned steaks (but they did run out of bone-in filet and another cut), smooth drinks (dirty martinis, three olives), respectable appetizers (peppery bacon wrapped scallops with apricot chutney were among the winners), and satisfying desserts (uber-rich belgian chocolate mousse). Thanksgiving. Seated by kitchen. Loud. Atmosphere was lost with the loud kitchen. Saw our waiter 3 times for a 3 course meal. My ribeye looked like a thick slice of ham. Did not appear to be grilled at all. Soufflé was just OK. Very chewy. It used to be that you could select your cut of steak. Not anymore. Morton's IS overrated, but still delicious. This place obviously has a "old, wealthy male club white collar feel to it" b/c it's in RTC and all of the executives come here after work for a drink and a quick meal. Considering that when I walk in, I am probably the youngest looking person there (I just had a lady tell me two days ago that I looked like i was 18....FML!!!! hahaha) sometimes the atmosphere can be slightly overbearing---maybe a few more younger people at least in their 20s would be nice?! The times that I have been there, the service has been superb and the steak is good, but I personally think that Ruth Chris and the Palm ranks higher in both service/atmosphere/food (or just go to Ray's the steaks!!) I love a good steak, don't mind higher prices, but would definitely prefer a less stuffy atmosphere; oh and for awhile last year, Morton's had a ton of construction going on in front of the building so it was not pretty, but now it's all B E A UUTIFUL again! :) read more

I love Morton's in general. The place never fails to let me down on an amazing meal, ambiance, & excellent service. So when my hubby asked if I wanted to go in for a late lunch, YES! The place was empty (3pm) so the restaurant was ours. The managers greeted us with smiling polite faces & catered to whatever was needed. Rick who is the bartender was our server & was nothing, but AMAZING! We sat in a lovely booth had amazing drinks & food. What an experience. It was so great that we moved to the bar at 4:30pm for their happy hour. This place gets slammed! There is usually a bit more room when the weather is better (was raining) cause they have a huge outside area as well. The vibe was great. Great people watching. Drinks are amazing & if you are peckish the bites are YUM! First time at this location & will definitely not be the last. Totally worth the drive from Falls Church. read more

I went here for a birthday dinner. First of all the menus literally just have the name of the food with no description or pictures. That isn't very helpful. I asked one of the guy workers for a description of the "Morton's prime burger" he said to me "It's a burger! It's just a regular burger" "I don't know what to tell you?!" It honestly got me so frustrated because there are obviously different types of burgers. Some burgers even come with special sauces. I still got the burger to see how it was like. Food took over an hour. I had to go somewhere so I asked one of the ladies how much longer. She said "They're plating it right now". Ten minutes passed by & still no food. She passes by again & I just tell her to put it to go (because my mom was going to bring it home for me.) Honestly had such a horrible experience here. Never coming back read more

I've been to a lot of steakhouses both in this area and other parts of the US and think that Morton's has the best steaks around. I will say though that this Morton's is better than the others in the area (based on quality of food and service). This Morton's has an extremely friendly and capable staff from the valet all the way to the bus boys. I would give this place a 5 for every other time I've been here (which has been quite a few)...but this time around, I can only give it a 4. The reason? Usually, the entire filet is pure meat and I finish every last bit of it. This time, I threw away a good chunk of it that was fat and gristle. It may sound like a minor detail, but when you're paying $40 to $50 for a piece of meat, it had better be a great cut of meat. Overall though, this is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. Not cheap, but usually worth every penny. P.S. If you've never had the chocolate Godiva cake, make sure you order it next time you're there. But make sure you order it when you first place your order - it takes about 45 minutes to prepare. read more

What is the deal with paying for a side order? I'll never get that. This is supposedly a recession. But you'd never know that from Morton's. Three stars for their late night bar menu (9 pm to midnight)--steakburger sliders (call them steakburgers here - after all, what is hamburger? Chopped ham?), crab cake sliders, filet minot mini sandwiches, for under $6. Sold. The ambiance is less family-oriented here. Think older men in big cowboy hats visiting from Fort Worth, men whose sole concerns are their golf scores, and the occasional girls night out. A welcome option after visiting the more sauage-fest focused bars and restaurants in Reston. But nothing really spectacular. I'll go to Outback - at least they offer bread, salad and side dish with their steaks. read more

Not the best but not the worst steak I have had. Simply, not worth the price. FOOD: The porterhouse STEAK was nicely cut and cooked (none to little seasoning just grilled). I feel the quality and quantity of beef to price ratio is a little high. The SIDES were nothing to write home about, even though they were 'okay' not outstanding considering the two handfuls of dollars per dish. I could make all three at home in the microwave for about half the cost of one. Moving on to DESSERT, cake - handmade or so I was told carrot cake. I don't have much experience with carrot cake so all I can say is It was better than store bought. Don't get the ice cream, it is nothing special, matter of fact it is store bought and seemed a little old. BEER: Yes, it has a separate paragraph or I should say line. All bottle - NO draught. Zero, none, zip, not one. I guess people that eat steak are limited to wine. Who knew? SERVICE and LOCATION: As for the rest of your money it seems like it is going to the location, and service. The service is better than average but not anything a hard working college girl can't give you. I don't need to be called, 'Sir" like I am at work. The location is okay, it is your standard dim lit restaurant. BOTTOM LINE: If you want a simply cut and cooked steak, go. Don't except anything more. Dined at this location last night as a splurge for our 10 year anniversary. Things started off on a nice note when the hostess knew that it was our anniversary and mentioned it. We were seated at one of the horseshoe shaped booths in front of the open kitchen which was very nice. We were greeted by our server, Kelli, who was excellent throughout the meal. She was friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Add in the fact that she was attentive and I would say that she is well suited for her chosen career. We were grateful to have been paid with this server. We started off with a cocktail ($20 for a double amaretto sour which was shocking but would have been acceptable if it were not translucent. There seemed to be very little alcohol. The spouse had a $9 Sierra Nevada Ale that seemed to be more appropriately priced.) Kelli brought complimentary bread and butter which, if you like onions, you would love. We do not so, while okay, we didn't eat much of it. Next up were the jumbo shrimp cocktail appetizer that we split. When I say jumbo, I mean jumbo. Gargantuan. (thanks Elle Driiver!) Not only huge but very tasty. This was followed by a lovely Cesar salad that we also split. Our hostess came by and took our photo and offered to take one with our camera as well which was very nice. The main course was an 8 oz filet Oscar style for me and a 16 oz NY Strip for the hubs. I really can't say enough good things about the steaks. Both were cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly and was good enough that we could have skipped the sides and just had steaks and salads...and more steak. Sides were good but not remarkable. Jumbo asparagus spears and horseradish mashed potatoes. Dear hubby did not taste the horseradish in the potatoes but I did and thought they were good. We opted to skip dessert however Morton's offered to comp our choice of dessert due to the occasion of our anniversary so we took it home. The chocolate layer cake looks lovely and we are looking forward to eating it tonight when/if we ever stop being full from last night. The hostess brought the photo she took and had inserted into a paper frame with Happy Anniversary written on it and presented it to us with a copy of the menu which had the heading of Happy 10 year anniversary. Very nice touches which made us feel very valued as guests. Our full meal was $220 before tip. While we couldn't do it more than once or twice a year, I am glad we decided to celebrate our special day at this Morton's. The service is fab and the steaks are amazing. read more

Prices are ridulous and almost insulting. Cocktails are $14 and up. Food is okay. Bread comes to the table uncut. So patrons have to cut the bread with the steak knife (and fork, if you don't want to use your hands). Service and host staff are very good. Atmosphere is boring, bland and lacks energy. I would save your money. My husband and I had to wait ten minutes for a host to appear in reception, and even then he was disorganized and lacked the grace and charm you would expect from such an establishment. He did not take our coats for coat check. Our table was not great - chairs were uncomfortable and it was so close to the other tables that servers and other patrons repeatedly brushed against me. The servers were pleasant enough, and appeared knowledgeable, but were also rushed and were difficult to understand. We did not have one designated waiter, and our group of servers appeared to lack communication, as we were asked the same questions multiple times. I would overlook all of this if the food was as stellar as previously experienced in different Morton's locations. However, this was not the case. I will say that our Ahi Tuna Tower appetizer was sensational, and was absolutely the highlight of our evening. I ordered the filet/scallops/shrimp for my entree, and it was borderline unedible. The shrimp were cold (not supposed to be) and rubbery, the bacon around the scallops was undercooked and flabby and the side of apricot preserves were terribly overseasoned. The filet was fine, but I have had steak as good or better at Outback. I know that all of my complaints may seem trivial, but this was supposed to be a festive occassion at a great restaurant, and we were just terribly unimpressed. I really would heed all of the poor reviews on this website and go somewhere else. I would try Morton's again, as we have had good experiences in the past at different locations, but I would not go back to the Reson, VA restaurant. I expect nothing but the very best for the prices they charge, and that was just not my experience this time. So, so disappointed. read more

I agree with those who say the place has changed since Landrys bought the chain...for the worse. Our meal recently was mediocre and service was just not good - especially galling in the light of the very high prices charged. Tuna appetizer was freezing cold, our steaks had no flavor to speak of (at nearly $60 per steak!), a baked potato was served lukewarm and we had to repeatedly flag down our waiter for refills on our drinks and water. The floor busboys were hopeless and ignored our empty glasses and dirty plates that sat and sat. I realize others are very happy with this location but frankly we won't be back. Also, the noise level at lunch was very unpleasant - hard to have a conversation at a business lunch with the acoustics. read more

I understand that I'm not at a Michelin starred restaurant, but Morton's is a well known steakhouse in the area and nationwide. I have lived down the street for a few years and spent many early evenings meeting neighbors and friends out around RTC and I have frequent this Morton's many times with friends and family. I feel Morton's has gone downhill in the last few years with the service and food. I was out with a friend and just missed happy hour, but decided to stay anyway. We ordered drinks and appetizers and decided to stay for dinner so we asked to see the main menu in addition to what was given to us. As we were sitting there after our appetizers were given we noticed a guy a few seats down chatting it up with the bartenders. Obviously he knew them well and the bartenders were very attentive to him. The rest of the bar was about a quarter full and not really busy. I overheard the bartender telling him about the Restaurant Week Menu and how great it was. The customer was enthused that he was going to get a great deal for dinner that evening and to join in his excitement, I turned and asked him to see the menu. He said "You definitely should order it!" As I said to my friend, we pretty much ordered what was on the menu. "We could have gotten two meals for what we just paid for one." I then said to the bartender, "Why didn't you mention to us what the specials were?" There was complete silence at that point and no real reason why he didn't show us all the menus they had. I am very disappointed at the service and experience I had received going to Morton's. Our Valentine's dinner was perfect, as to be expected. I made reservations a couple days before, with no hope of finding a decent restaurant so late in the game...but lo and behold Morton's had a 4pm open and I took it! There was a $100 cancellation fee which is totally understandable but sheesh that is steep! The cocktails are all $15 so I decided to try a couple different ones if they were all the same price. I tried the palm martini (pretty good), the kiss (their specialty cocktail for vday, very good) and the grape crush martini which was actually more like a champagne cocktail but also very good. My husband had bloody mary's and thought they were the best ones he's had (which is a big deal, he's very picky) and said they were very spicy. For starters we tried the ahi tuna tower. It was basically a guac and mango salsa mixture topped with ahi tuna, and came with crispy chips. it was very good and we picked the plate clean! The onion bread was delicious and we lapped up the leftover sauce from the appetizer with it. We split an iceburg wedge salad, it was probably the best salad I've ever had. I normally don't like bleu cheese but on wedges I do, the bleu cheese was very creamy and the flavor was not overpowering even though the crumbles were fairly large. It was delicious! Main course: I had the sea scallops & short rib, it came with mashed potatoes and it was all to die for. My scallops were cooked perfectly, almost had no color but just enough to tell they were cooked right...I could cut through the short rib like butter with my fork, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and not overloaded with flavor. My husband got the valentine's day special of porterhouse and said it was the best steak he's had in years. Even though our waitress said it was seasoned, my husband said the primary taste was the meat and that's how a good steak should be. We got lobster stuffed mushrooms that were an appetizer as a side dish along with twice baked potatoes au gratin. We both loved the mushrooms and I really liked the au gratin potatoes but my husband wasn't a big fan of them. We were too full to try a dessert, so we left happy. Thanks Morton's! read more

My husband and I decided on Morton's for our anniversary, he wanted steak, I wanted a nice wine list and this seemed like a great place to go. We had never been, so as some other Yelpers have mentioned, I was impressed with the printed menus, the photo and the lighting. I was also very impressed when we selected a booth and the hostess pulled it out to let us in, that's a very nice touch vs sliding all the way around when you are dressed up. The service was good but not spectacular (definitely not what I was expecting...although it wasn't bad--if that makes sense?). The wine list was extensive, I was very happy with the selection available. The steaks were phenomenal, I don't eat much red meat, but when I do I want to be able to enjoy a nice rare steak and this did not let me down! My husband's prime rib was also very tasty, but my fillet was heavenly! It really could not have been any better! So that was exciting. The sides and appetizer we had were good: we got the scalloped potatoes (which are to die for!), brussel sprouts (I can make these better at home) and scallops (yummy, but pretty standard--nothing spectacular). We ended dinner with Morton's coffee and dessert. The coffee/liquor combo was decadent and delicious, my chocolate mouse was tasty, but not the best and although my husband loved his creme brulee I feel like I could say the same thing about it. Having lived in RTC, I used to frequent Morton's but gave up on them a few years back. We had a meal for two and tipped the fellow 50% (a departing gift), knowing I wouldn't be visiting the establishment for a very long time. Recently, I decided to give them another chance, 2 out of the last 3 visits went well. Service has improved; and I didn't even get brushed off for dressing casually at the bar on one occasion. On another occasion, my company booked a room for 40+, everything went well & service was spot-on. Brought clients for lunch, it was surprisingly quiet for the area it was in. There was no host when I arrived, but I found my table. All of the meals came out well and the filets ordered were cooked perfectly. The server was gracious, attentive, and took pride in his job. They were not attentive as they should be considering the price of the food (my brother's water glass was empty for too long), but one of the waitresses carefully scooped all of the bread crumbs off our table in between courses. The bread was quite good. Interesting presentation of food, where they showed all of the different (raw) cuts of meat and vegetables, after which menus were provided. Delicious french onion soup, with a pretty substantial portion. My family ordered a couple of single-cut filet mignons, a double-cut, and a prime rib bone-in? The meat is so tender and just perfect. The filet didn't look particularly large but it was quite filling in the end, and the bone-in cut was huge. The atmosphere was much louder than I would have expected. Lots of family birthday dinners. As a steadfast carnivore, this place is perfection. I have only been here once and it will be a long time until i venture here again, however I am a fan and wish i could come here more often. The service is excellent as should be expected from this level of restaurant and it is a great place to celebrate a big occasion with a close group. read more
