    Chicken and Beef Teriyaki plate
    Steven M.

I was really impressed by the speed we received our order. I was not a fan of their teriyaki sauce - it was a bit too smokey for my taste - but fortunately, they have it off to the side in containers and the meat was not sauced. The egg roll and gyoza are just okay. Overall, a good value for the price.

This place is an absolute Pigsty!! Filthy. Trash everywhere and the restrooms make a gas station seem like your at the Ritz Carlton. Beyond all that the service is simply RUDE!!! They never answer the phone !!! When you call and attempt to place an order to go. They simply do not answer!!!!! And when you ask him why they tell you things like we're busy. We're all busy. I'm busy you're busy. We're all busy if I'm going to give you business and spend my money at your establishment. The least you can do is answer the phone so I can order to go.. this place is simply over rated

    Beef and chicken plate

I will have to say my experience was okay. The service was quick I will have the say. The food was the issue the beef was a bit on the dry side and the chicken was okay and the salad felt like it was missing something. The egg roll that was included was soggy and mushy in the inside. I just felt like the quantity was a lot but felt like it didn't match up with the price sadly. The parking was hard but it was okay. the outside was clean and very nice outdoor seating if it wasn't raining at the time.

This is depressing. For the first time ever I came to this location instead of grand ave location. And they were packed food came out quick but way too suspiciously quick. To find out my food had nothing but mainly rice filled to the brim and barely a thin layer of chicken. When I go to grands location they put equal chicken and rice and don't half the chicken and put more rice. I'm desperately sad :(

Chicken and Beef plate . #4

Ordered the #4 (chicken and beef). It was good, but nothing spectacular or particularly special about the place. I like that it's a hole-in-the-wall spot with pretty fast service. If I'm craving chicken teriyaki or a simple meat-and-rice dish, I'd come back but it wouldn't be my first choice since nothing really stood out. Fair prices, quick service, definitely more of a takeout spot, and overall decent food. The salad was lackluster, and the dressing tasted mostly like mayo.

    Nasty nasty nasty

Nastiest chicken plate ever they gave me all skin no chicken. I don't know what they are thinking this is not ok and nasty. The one in Santa Ana is better this is absolute trash.

Chicken combo plate. It taste average not bomb like others said. But the teriyaki sauce is a bit bitter not my taste
    Thien L.

Tried this place today because of high rating but to me I think it's over hyped. I ordered a chicken plate combo the chicken was on the dry side and the teriyaki sauce is a bit bitter to my taste so my rating is average

Medium chicken teriyaki bowl. It's very good.
    Craig W.

CASH ONLY. Don't tell me there's an ATM nearby that has an $8 fee or whatever. Bring cash. Teriyaki bowls are nothing new in the world but they make them very well here. They also have combo plates with shrimp and scallops, etc. They've got chicken, beef, and pork, but I think chicken is the way to go. You can ask for skin-on, if you prefer, but it's a little fatty and weird. The medium-sized bowl is perfect for a full meal and they don't skimp on the chicken. Admittedly, it's not the greatest quality chicken. But put it on a bed of rice with green onions on top along with their rich, syrupy molasses-like sauce, and the dish is pretty great. And the sauce is delicious. It's worth paying for extra cups. No indoor seating but there's a good-sized patio. Plenty of free parking next to the building. Remember: CASH ONLY.

Your basic teriyaki chicken bowls with rice. I used to eat Mos all the time years ago, but haven't been in forever. I ordered the chicken combo plate and everything was delicious, but the salad and gyoza were just okay. I'd probably stick with a bowl and add an egg roll next time. Service was good, a little slow but it's always busy so it's to be expected. There are only tables outside which is okay with me, but some people may not be a fan. Parking was no problem as they have a decent size lot.

The problem was that after I placed my order, I had to keep asking the waiter directly for the items I had already selected. I understand that with all-you-can-eat, they may wait until you finish one plate before bringing the next. That's completely reasonable. What wasn't reasonable was being left sitting there for 15-20 minutes with no food and having to flag down the waiter just to ask where my next plate was. The food itself was great, but the service really took away from the experience. I shouldn't have to repeatedly ask for food that I already ordered.

Right across from Disneyland, our night ended with an up close view of the Disneyland fireworks. Everything tasted amazing. We ordered the Nori and Cheese Fries, Tofu Seafood Salad, 2 Double Shrimp Tempura Rolls, Rainbow Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll. My mouth is watering from writing this review... The rolls were large, flavorful, and had good amounts of fish. High quality fish here. My personal favorites were the salmon and tuna rolls. The salmon was rich and fatty. The spicy tuna had a mild kick of spice, making it enjoyable for almost any spice tolerance. I noticed the wasabi and soy sauce were milder than what I'm used to. It ended up being much more casual than we expected, with an atmosphere that felt like stepping into a restaurant from the '90s inside an older hotel. Not necessarily a bad thing--just different from what we had in mind for a birthday dinner. That said, the food was excellent and definitely the reason we'd come back. I also really enjoyed their selection of Japanese-inspired beers, which paired perfectly with the meal and were a fun addition to the experience. We started with the spicy edamame, which was good, though not a showstopper. The Chef's 10-piece nigiri was the highlight of the meal. Every piece was fresh and delicious, but the yellowtail and unagi were absolute standouts. We also ordered the spicy salmon roll, which was really good, and the double shrimp tempura roll, which was exactly what you want from a tempura roll--you really can't go wrong with it. Our server was very kind and friendly, but service wasn't especially attentive. It seemed like they may have been understaffed, so there were longer waits between check-ins than we would have liked. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the food and drinks. If you're looking for high-quality sushi and don't mind a nostalgic, old-school atmosphere, Hanagi is worth checking out. Just go in expecting excellent food rather than a luxurious dining experience.
