Great time having breakfast with my family when they were visiting, at their favorite place to stay in San Diego. We ate outside on the patio and Brenda was a great server. They had comped buffets because of their long stay. But I got à la carte. I got one croissant, which was actually amazing, and this is coming from someone who said quite a few croissants! And the scrambled eggs were good and the coffee too. I got slipped some breakfast potatoes from the buffet, and I forgot how tasty they are. They are really little fried potato cubes, but they're wonderfully seasoned and also come with great green and red peppers. I will happily eat breakfast here again the next time my family is visiting! Reasonable, tasty, and very pleasant atmosphere outside. read more

Has a great burger special here for "frisky Friday." It was $20 for a beer and the mosaic burger which comes with fries, salad or fruit. The burger is normally priced $22 so this is a great deal. The burger was perfectly prepared medium rare with a good char crust. Comes with cheese, onion, tomatoe, lettuce and sweet pickled red onions. The side salad was generous portion with lots of cherry tomatoes, carrots, onions, grated cheese and croutons. read more

This is a typical hotel bar. The food is bland and customer service is hit or miss. I walked in around 12:10 pm for lunch and there was no one around. Bartender was cleaning and took him a while to acknowledge me. It does get a decent traffic in the evening for drinks. They have some decent beers in the tap. If staying at this hotel, I will probably visit again for evening drinks only. read more

Well let's start with this morning, couple tables at the were occupied, I was told it's a 30 minute wait for $30 buffet. Ok, we come for dinner instead seared right away. $36 chicken, $12 cheeseburger with cold cheese, and a Cesar salad, $18 nachos. Ok prices no problem. After an hour and a half I still hadn't received my chicken or salad, I asked to cancel the roasted chicken, he said I'll comp you whatever you want, I asked for a Cadillac margarita, sorry can't, I asked for a pizza sorry we're out! Had dinner with family at the Mosaic at Doubletree Del Mar. We sat outside at the bar and had great service from Shaun. I ordered the Mosaic club sandwich that included turkey, bacon, swiss, and a tasty aoli sauce. It also came with a large helping of seasoned fries. The club sandwich was fantastic, and the fries were amazing as well. I took some leftover fries home and reheated them a couple days later (400 degrees for 10 minutes). They came out crispy, tasty and fabulous the second time around as well! read more

Mosaic Restaurant & Bar is located in the Double Tree Inn. It's patrons comes mostly from the guest staying at the DT Inn. I ordered the Capallini Shrimp Pasta. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. Not over cooked to where the shrimp is hard and rubbery. The sauce consisted of whole cloves of garlic,mushrooms, onions and tomatoes in olive oil. The sauce was excellent. The only disappointment with this dish was the pasta (3/5). It was soft, pasty and over cooked. The pasta stayed clumped. If the pasta was cooked al dente, I would've rated this dish 5/5. I also had the Wedge salad (no pic). I ordered it without blue cheese, replaced with ranch dressing. This salad was excellent. The wedge salad came with heirloom cherry tomatoes, ample amount of bacon bits over not one wedge, but two ice berg lettuce wedges. There could've been more ranch dressing drizzled on the salad, but I still would rate this selection 5/5! I would recommend Mosaic Restaurant for the following reasons. - the food is very good. For my dish, hopefully the pasta was not intentionally over cooked. I'll give the benefit of doubt. - the price for food is actually reasonable. More reasonable than I expected. - the service was excellent. My server was attentive and caring. Mosaic Restaurant is an excellent place to eat, especially if you're staying at the Double Tree Inn. read more

*** $17 AYCE Breakfast Buffet *** I guess the rebranded the restaurant inside Doubletree? We just got done with a tough hike at Torrey Pines . I suggested to friend that we try out the breakfast buffet here as it's pretty affordable for this part of town. I called the hotel and the receptionist wasn't the most friendly or helpful. She said it's not a brunch but a buffet. I asked if it included coffee and juice which she did not know. She was annoyed when I asked her to inquire with restaurant. And yes, coffee (free refills) are included as well as self serve juice. I asked if made to order omelettes are included and she said no. Those are sold separately. Wrong - made to order omelettes *are* included as found out when we got here. The buffet is limited: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, very little fruit, oatmeal, mini pancakes, individual cereals. Service was terrible. They drop off a carafe of coffee. Our waters were never refilled unless we asked. They dropped off the check pretty quickly even though we were only half way done with our meal. Servers never asked if you wanted to order omelette. You have to ask them. You can also request eggs to be made any style you'd like (over easy, etc). My ham/cheese/onion omelette came out hot but tasted just ok. I went up to fruit area and saw what looked like whip cream. I winced as I took a big spoonful in my mouth and realized it was sour cream. The server almost shamed me for not knowing it was greek yogurt or something. They offer cute mini jams/marmalades on the tables. Ours didn't have any so we had to take some from a neighboring table. Location is convenient but this is more a hotel-included-in-price kinda breakfast buffet. The saving grace was the free cookie I was able to get from a very nice receptionist at lobby (different than girl who picked up phone earlier). read more

Stayed at The Doubletree last night. Went down to the bar for a couple drinks and to order some food to go. The bar staff was great, very nice and attentive. Ordered a burger and fries to go to eat in my room. Unfortunately after getting settled in my room I went to eat my burger and I think they forgot to cook it, it was so rare I couldn't eat it. This is the restaurant in the lobby of Doubletree by Hilton. The prices are high, the food is of poor quality, the takeout meals are unceremoniously dumped into a box and served cold. They are definitely taking advantage of the fact that most travelers are tired and unable to grab a decent sandwich within a mile. I see exactly why the trash bins are chock full of taco bell wrappers, since it is close by. read more

The literal worst tasting bland food. I ordered a Cesar salad with chicken. Basically they just put some romaine lettuce w cherry tomatoes and threw some dressing on. The chicken was pre frozen and they couldn't even put any seasoning??? I don't get it. They put zero effort. My husbands pasta was nasty. Also, zero seasoning and pretty sure it was canned sauce. Over priced. I'll never eat here again. How about add some seasoning to your food and show you care about making dishes. read more

My work friend forwarded me an email with an invitation to Mosaic's Kick Off Summer Party located inside the Double Tree by Hilton Del Mar. This was a great indoor/outdoor event that showcases Mosiac Restaurant & Bar's delicious appetizers, finger-foods, signature drinks with plenty of gifts and raffles under the beautiful sun with a live band. My friend and I each received a beach mat, and we felt very pampered and welcomed by all the staff in Hawaiian shirts. During the event, we nibbled on sushi, crudites w/ pita bread, grilled shrimp cocktails, fried egg rolls, bacon-wrapped scallops and enjoyed the their signature blood orange margarita. The coconut margarita also looked refreshing. At one station, they also offered guests to contribute a piece of tile to add to their Mosaic community art piece! What a creative idea to bring the community together! Thank you Mary and Russell for coordinating this event, the hardworking Double Tree and Mosaic Kitche & Bar staff for throwing such a fun Summer Kick Off Party. Staying at the hotel for a work trip. Food (dinner) was good and HH drinks are a good deal. It wasn't busy when I ate here but the negative reviews don't seem warranted. Granted, I wouldn't suggest making a trip here only to eat but if you're staying at or near the Doubletree Del Mar you can find a good meal here. read more

Great meal! My steak was cooked perfectly! I always get rare and it's not easy to get correct. They subbed carrots for me too. The mashed potatoes were soooo creamy. Everything was so well seasoned. My server was kind and attentive and thanked the chef for me. The only downside is the prices. YIKES. Glad it was on per diem read more

My fiancé and I decided to try the mosaic restaurant out during our stay at the doubletree. I ordered the New York steak and she ordered the chicken entree, both were really really good. The price is a bit much for what you get but the food is good and the dining room definitely gives the elegant feel. We had just arrived and were hungry. Nothing around the area and we didn't feel like driving. So we decided to try Mosaic in the Doubletree Hotel. It's too bad how empty it was inside the facility. They can truly promote the restaurant just by being guests in the hotel. I know with Covid things have changed. But our waitress was very friendly and sweet. The one thing I did ask for was bread since I ordered pasta. The waitress said she has been asked that multiple times when patrons ask for pasta. I said to her "who serves pasta without bread". I felt it was overpriced. But, we were pleasantly surprised to see a breakfast buffet was offered the next morning which had a large selection and more patrons. Again, I believe it is all due to the marketing of the restaurant. It opens up to the pool and with so many families, they should be able to crank the business. The staff is very friendly. It has a full bar as well. Would like to see more items added to the menu for dinner. read more

Surprised how much I enjoyed our dinner here. It's located inside the Double tree hotel right off the 5fwy in Carmel valley. Restaurant inside is large, modern and very clean. They also have a huge bar and outdoor patio. We arrived for an early dinner and were the only patrons there. Loved my order of the Citrus Roasted Chicken. It was served hot hot which I love. Came with a side of carrots and mashed potatoes it was really delicious!!! Kids meals are quite generous. My daughter ordered the cheeseburger and she said it was the best burger she has ever had. Service was awesome. I believe our waiters name was Ziad? He was incredibly kind and attentive. Although we didn't try any the happy hour specials looks awesome! read more

As many reviewers have said, most of the customers at this restaurant are staying at the Doubletree Hotel. We came here after a long trip but I was disappointed. I ordered the salmon. I expected a whole filet for the price but it was about a third to half of that size. It was plated nicely but there was very little seasoning. We also tried the truffle fries which I recommend. read more
