One of the few fancy-ish joints in Redding still operating during the pandemic. The food is delicious and its proximity to Sundial Bridge is really convenient - you can follow your meal with a nice walk across the bridge and along the riverside. So I write this review to let others know about Nat the night manager. I don't like saying things that aren't positive but this was so unacceptable! My friends and I are staying at the Sheritan and had come for dinner lunch and now dinner. The only thing on the dinner menu for my vegan friend was a steak salad without the steak. The first 2 meals they were more than happy to accommodate her with leaving off the steak with a discount without meat. This time Nate manager on duty informs us they will no longer accommodate us. I don't understand this he would rather lose out on the next 2 days of our enjoying their restaurant 16 meals . The math doesn't add up take away 16 meals instead of just the cost of eliminating the steak. This to me is so unnecessary. We're very disappointed in this. read more

I got food here 3 times while staying at the hotel nextdoor. Everytime the food was delicious. I ordered a gluten free pizza, a dessert, and twice breakfast of some gluten free hashbrowns stack and black coffee. The food was all excellent, but what made my day was the server Reyna. She was super cheerful and felt genuinely happy to see me. This was one of those super rare amazing human beings who managed to brighten my day in just the little interaction we had. That restaurant is lucky to have her and I hope anyone who goes is served by her. Go out of your way to visit this spot. Period. This is the nicest location to eat in the City that I have found. Prime location next to the Sundial Bridge and gorgeous Sheraton Redding which makes you feel like a mini celebrity going to a private get way. The patio in the back gorgeous. The decor and open structural features for the curious types. Personally I enjoy taking a walk through the botanical gardens across the bridge before or after a reservation. The food is really good, comparing it to larger cities and more well known eateries. The menu stays updated with the seasons and the chef shows pride in each dish. Anything on the menu is worth getting and of quality. I Personally enjoyed the Avocado Toast with eggs bacon and orange-pineapple juice for breakfast. If you're passing through Redding this is a must go for quality food and ambiance. read more

I was staying at the Sheraton, and ended up eating here twice. While I normally like to explore the local area and not eat in the hotel restaurant, I am on a very restrictive plant based diet, and the menu at Mosaic had a ton of things I could eat. The atmosphere is upscale and classy. We made reservations, and were seated promptly upon arrival. Since it was dry January, I didn't drink but my sisters had sangria and seemed to like their drinks. We started with the hummus platter, and they were happy to leave the fairly off my flatbread. The miso and black garlic hummus was unique and interesting, we all really enjoyed it. I ended up having the lettuce wraps as my main course, and was blown away by this vegan dish. The plate had a mixture of red quinoa, yams, cranberries, radishes, wIth about 4 or 5 pieces of bibb lettuce to make the wraps. The plate had some sort of cranberry drizzle on it. I was blown away at how delicious this dish was, and it was plenty fIlling since we had the appetizer. One of my sisters had the cauliflower steak, and said it was delicious, and my other sister had the chicken. We all left satisfied. We did not opt for dessert. Ever since coming here, I dream of having that lettuce cup dish again......it was sooooooooo good. would love to have that dish again, without having to drive to Redding. Oh, we had breakfast here, and while the menu was limited, I adored the avocado toast. First time in Redding . We heard good things about this place . What we got was a complete awful service. To begin with, they told us that wait was from 30 to 40 minutes It was a little more than an hour !!! The hostess was rude and our server only came to check on us at the end of our lunch . How this place has a four star rating is an absolute mystery to me ! Management is so out of touch it's unreal. The service was slow. Food was overpriced. Almost fifteen dollars for a piece of avacado toast ! My biggest complaint was when it came time for the check and they brought out my original check for $200 which was paid without any complications . Afterwards as I was having a conversation with my family I was brought another check saying they messed up? Gave me a ticket for $205. It's not the money that matters but come on! Five bucks! Just eat it and move on. Very disrespectful. Won't be going back to this joke of a place again read more

High quality ingredients and high quality service. Pizza is yum and salads too. The steak in the miso salad however needed to be cooked a lot more. Rest of the family got the burger and it was tasty. Ambience is eclectic. There is an open dining area to the pizza oven and bar that is for a relaxed feel. I wish I could give 0 star. It's my first time feeling discrimination in the entire USA in the past 9 years. When we sat down, they didn't provide knives. Only forks and napkins were on the table. At that moment I didn't think too much and I thought it was just because they were busy. And after 1 hour waiting we finally got the food we ordered. According to them, it's freshly prepared. But the truth is the streak is almost cold. Here, the most ridiculous part comes . I asked for a knife. The waiter gave me a knife that i would assume only the chef would use in the kitchen. While all other customers got the normal knife that will be used to cut the steaks. I feel disappointed and disgusting. Only because I have Asian face, and then he treats me as a monkey! After he saw my shocked face, he explained "oh sorry I thought this was the knife you want." I ate there tonight 11/19/23. With a group of 11. The pizza that got raves, the 1000 whatever sucked, it was luke warm, under cooked and so hard to chew. The $58.00 Rib eye stake was two pieces 1¹/² square x 2 inch long cuts of meat that looked nothing like rib eye and I have gotten better cuts of Sirloin from Costco. So disappointing, never go back and will spread the word. But the service was great unless it was her fault the pizza was luke warm. read more

The folks on staff there are always friendly, engaging, and professional. Great experience. Peter seated us more quickly than we expected. Logan was our server and did the right amount of checking in and giving us space. We split the burger and a chicken caesar salad. The burger hit all my savory buttons with the grilled onions, tomato jam, and gouda cheese. The salad had light dressing on the freshest greens I've ever had. The chicken was so tender and juicy. I liked the unorthodox croutons! When the food came Logan recommended this tasty lemon aioli to dip our rosemary fries in. As we were leaving another employee asked about our experience. This was a wonderful oasis to find in the middle of a hectic and face paced road trip. It was our favorite night away. The food was great, and they were very helpful to split our salad for us in the kitchen. The steak was perfectly cooked. We sat at the bar and were helped by Jordan the bartender. She is amazing. She was helpful with suggestions, made wonderful drinks, and put on a show with her mixology. She would have been amazing in any city in any state, we were lucky to find her in Redding. read more

Restaurant looks great from a decor point of view but they really need some counsel on running a restaurant and improving food quality. Firstly, the hostess stand sits right in the middle of the restaurant - it's awkward and takes up way too much space. It blocks the bar and makes the bar area difficult to maneuver. The hostess was friendly and efficient though. Secondly, they need to run the AC - it's way too hot in the restaurant and staff are walking around sweating and not looking happy. We were really hot too. Thirdly, the service was inconsistent. We ordered - our starter arrived but not from our server and with no side plates for sharing. The fried pickles were cold and served on a bed of arugula. Why serve crispy pickles on a damp leaf ?! It makes the pickles go soft. We also ordered a margarita pizza and a steak salad. The pizza looked sad and as if it had been sat for a while. My son told me it had sat under the heat lamp for 15 minutes. The dough was over worked, tough and salty. If you're going to put basil on a pizza - put it on at the end so that it's not brown and nasty. Also, put some cheese on the pizza people!!! It was a bed of tomato sauce. Steak salad was over dressed - very spicy - I couldn't find the steak. When I mentioned to our server about the lack of steak - she pointed out that it was only meant to contain 3 ounces. Really?! It wasn't even 3 ounces - I had 3 very tiny slivers! The dressing totally overpowered any taste of the veggies and I gave up on eating it after 3 mouthfuls. The server refunded half of the salad. Lastly, no one seemed to be running the front of the kitchen to ensure food was being delivered timely and checking quality. Bad night for us and we went to bed hungry. read more

First time here and staying at hotel. First, we couldn't get a reservation online and no one answered the phone in the afternoon. I did walk over to get a reservation at check in and we were able to get a table. The restaurant is nice, and our server was very pleasant, but overall the pace was extremely slow. When our food did come, salmon for the adults was good but our child's pasta was gross... Not fully cooked and couldn't eat it. We had ordered a pizza for other child in the room so we just decided to give her a slice of that. Another issue that bothered me was a family that didn't get seated. We were sitting so we can see the front desk, and a couple with him in a wheelchair and a service dog were waiting at the front desk for what was at least 40 minutes. They never got seated and ultimately left. But there were plenty of tables in the restaurant. In fact, one at the back was never seated and would have been a perfect space for them. I don't know the specifics but the whole situation bothered me. I just don't love this place. read more

This restaurant is ok but nothing to write home about... definitely something to Yelp about. They recommend reservations, so I made one. Arrived, gave my name and time of reservation, was about to be seated but then sent back to wait because they didn't have a table for us. For some reason they assign names to the table being reserved and the staff failed to make that happen. I was then offered a seat in another location which looked like a sports bar and with their AC not working and told them absolutely not. Once seated at our table in the correct area of the restaurant our waiter came to take our order. We wanted to start with an appetizer but the one we choose had to be altered because it was "seasonal". Why is a seasonal item on a menu? It's a 1 page menu. Maybe make a different menu for different seasons. Or maybe QR code to read the current menu which can be changed on the fly. Ordered short ribs... got what looked more like pot roast with no bone. Poor use of presentation. The food was ok but not worth the $250 price tag for two people. Redding has better food available elsewhere for less. read more

I have been to mosaic 2x. The atmosphere is very nice-- both indoors and outdoors. Great for group hangouts and company. However, I am disappointed with the quality of the food. I ordered the carbonara my first visit. I'm sorry to say this, but it just was not good. The pasta was too hard. I only had a couple of bites and couldn't eat the rest. My standards for pasta aren't very high either. Waste of $20+ dollars. Although, I had a bad experience the first time, I returned for a second visit because I truly enjoyed the atmosphere (one of the best in Redding). This time, I went with the margherita pizza. I took my first bite... and it was cold. We let the waitress know, and she gladly took it back. She came back with a pie fresh out of the oven along with our reheated pizza. Staff was nice, place is nice, thought this wood fired pizza was going to rock my world. Order my pizza to go, girl at front took my name and number and told me she's call me in 30 minutes or so when it was ready. 45 minutes or so later, no call so I headed down stairs willing to wait onsite. Talked to the same girl, pizza was waiting, checked out and headed up to enjoy.... My pizza is cold. Not melty and delicious, but air conditioned room temp.
