This restaurant had an amazing house salad with baked goat cheese in it. I have to say it was my favorite part of the meal. I had some linguine with clams as a main dish and finished with cappuccino and biscotti. Our table shared a bottle of Mercer Yakima valley 2012 Riesling which was delicious. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food which I would consider to be solid Italian cooking (two others had pasta and the other had the almond crusted branzino). We had some trouble getting our bread refilled and had to ask the manager two times (he was the original person who took the basket away the first time to get it refilled). The bread is also slightly dry. I would say that this was a really good experience overall. In comparison to other Italian restaurants in westchester, I think it's fine. I'm more partial to other restaurants though bc there isn't a lack for Italian in westchester, but I would be willing to eat at moscato again. Excellent trattoria in Scarsdale. Small cozy space, tastefully decorated. The bar area is small and can get crowded during peak time. We're regulars, so I suspect that we may be treated a little bit better than average. The maitre d's are nice, warm people. Upon being seated, we are served a basket of warm bread with olive oil. The cocktails are excellent. The wine by the glass is very good. The service is usually good, but not great. The food is consistently excellent. I have ordered all over the menu over the years and have maybe had a single sub par meal. We really like the veal martini and the veal chop. They are great with branzino, as well. I only have two negative observations: The prices have increased significantly over the past few years. Moscato went from being a moderately priced restaurant to an expensive one. There is a large crowd of local regulars who frequent Moscato, so sometimes it feels as if you are walking in on a bar mitzvah. Sometimes that can be a mild turn off. Not sure why they open for lunch. We dined here on Friday and the place was uncomfortably empty. The food seems to be good, and I was pretty certain I would have the Branzino like my companion. But then I noticed they have to options for a "3-course meal." For 26 bucks they will serve you any salad, pasta and main course on their menu. Now, I didn't want a feast of all that food, so their other option (a smaller portion of each) for 20 bucks seemed like a better choice. Well I guess that was my error in judgement. Given the empty dining room, I guess the chef just tosses in a mini serving of leftovers or what not. My mini salad had a tiny marble of crusted goat cheese (surprised they could crust something that small); the pappardelle Bolognese was a decent sized portion, but I didn't find it too yummy so I only tasted this tasting portion; then the spotlight was on this piece of fish tail, served without the string beans or anything else that the normal portion comes with. Suffice to say that little taste of fish was delish. Well oh well, next time I'll stick to their sister restaurants Chat and Chat19. read more

Last time I ate here, I had a bad experience. When I ordered my entree, I confirmed with the server that it did not include an ingredient that I was allergic to. When it arrived and I took a bite, I could taste the ingredient. I called over the server and told him that I could taste the ingredient that I was allergic to; and asked him to confirm with the chef whether it was in the dish. He told me that it was in the dish. I asked him why he told me it was not. He shrugged. The manager came over, and told me that I shouldn't order a dish that contained ingredients I am allergic to. I started to not feel well, and the party I was dining with asked if they should call an ambulance. The manager indicated that he would not take responsibility to call an ambulance, and that we should call ourselves if we needed assistance. My allergy is not life threatening, I just got a stomach ache. If I did have a serious allergy, I don't know what would have happened. I don't think that this is a good place for those with food allergies- they do not take it seriously. read more

tl;dr: overpriced, bland i came here with my girlfriend and her family. we were seated quickly and the service was excellent from the beginning. we ordered the eggplant app which was the only good part of our meal. the tomato sauce (the same one which i believe they use for all the dishes) was oversalted. we ordered the orecchiette with sausage/broccoli and the gnocchi with short rib. the former was very bad. the pasta was undersalted, the broccoli rabe was overly bitter, the sausage was bland and very clearly not fresh, and what was supposed to be a garlic/oil sauce was missing. the gnocchi was slightly better, but still disappointing. the gnocchi was overprocessed and dense (similar to korean rice cakes). the sauce was good and the beef was good, but nothing an average cook wouldnt be able to do at home. one of our party was vegan and had trouble getting clear answers about the contents of the food. the waiter initially told her that none of the pastas contained egg, but then - upon probing the manager - said that all the pastas have egg. i hope this doesn't happen when another customer comes in with a serious allergy. in the end, she was able to have the gluten free pasta. moreover, the prices were astronomically high. take the orecchiette with broccoli/sausage. this is a dish that has barely any meat and a small portion of veg. $23. the portions were large but this seems egregious, not least because of the disappointing quality. i'm glad we didn't order any of the mains. my advice: cut the menu in half and try to focus on doing a few dishes well. and if they are charging $23 for pasta, it should represent the work of a chef well above the capabilities of the average home cook. read more

We have been to this place a few times now one of them being New Year's Eve last year and the last time being just a few weeks ago, and the service is always exceptional. Although the menu may be a bit pricey, you definitely have a really great ambience and small restaurant feel. The waitstaff really knows the menu and ingredients well and always have some good recommendations. We are always greeted very kindly by the wait staff and we appreciate their professionalism. I read the reviews on Moscato before coming in so I was very excited. I wish I left that way but unfortunately my experience was just ok. I understand dealing with a bigger party (We had 6) is a little tougher to manage but there were very few people in the restaurant so it shouldn't have been that hard. The service was EXTREMELY slow, it took 45 minutes just to get our salads plated and on the table and we had to ask 3 times. Once the food was served, it was pretty good. We then had to wait another 45 minutes to get our food. There were 4 other tables occupied at this restaurant so I am unsure of why this happened. The wait staff was extremely nice and when around, were very helpful. It is pretty expensive but the food is very good. Our party ordered a variety of things but the Salmon got great reviews as did the fish special of the day. I ordered the Pasta with prosciutto and peas with a cream sauce and it was alright, I would probably order something different next time. Our appetizer of the prosciutto and strawberries was delicious. If you don't mind the slow service you will have a good meal, if you are impatient, I would recommend avoiding this place read more

I stumbled upon this little place quite by accident when I had to attend a function in Scarsdale and wanted to get some lunch ahead of time. I wandered in to a very tastefully decorated trattoria, was greeted cordially and seated right away. There were four other parties dining that day and seemed to be quite enjoying themselves. The waiter informed me that it was "Restaurant Week" and invited me to try their special menu. I started with La Rossa salad (a beet salad so big it could have been a meal of its own) and then on to Vitello Martini (parmagiana-encrusted veal so tender I barely had to chew it). The waiter helped me to pair it with a wonderful blush wine -- curse me for not writing down its name. I left with a full belly and a very, very happy palate. I do not get to visit Scarsdale often, but the next time I do Moscato is very definitely going to be my first choice for dining. read more

A "home away from home' type of place. The Maitre d, Tomasso is welcoming & vigilant--if a water glass has an inch remaining, he instructs the responsive wait staff to fill it. I won a gift certifigate here for $150 several yrs ago and finally went with our recently engaged friends as a treat. (4ppl total) Made reservations several weeks in advance. Went on saturday night of easter weekend and had to wait 5-10min for table. Got a seat at the bar which only seats 5 people total and had a glass of pinot grigio for $8 and bf got pinot noir which bartarder said was "new and one of best hes tried" for $11.50. (THX BARTENDER) Tables are crampled together unless you get one in a corner so waiters are always pushing past you, lighting is low and kinda noisy. Theres only 1 restroom and apparently someone had an "accident" aka peed on the floor next to toilet and never told anyone or wait staff never checks the bathroom cleaniness- it was gross! Everyone enjoyed their meal- got the risotto with steak tidbits. It wasnt creamy enough and prob wouldt get it again Getting refills on water was a pain- they should have just left the pitcher for us to serve ourselves! Would recommend sticking to the pasta. We didnt bother with dessert just wanted to go home and enjoy a nightcap with friends with better lighting. 4 people with 1 glass of wine each and dinner was total under $175 not bad just not worth the cramped space read more

Every neighborhood needs a restaurant like Moscato! The food is excellent, the service is cheerful and professional, the prices are reasonable. It can be a little crowded on a weekend evening but we spent over two hours having a leisurely dinner on Saturday and were comfortable enough. We had a 7:15 reservation and there was no effort to get us out so that they could turn the table (as has happened at too many other places to count), which I really appreciated. Based on the number of renditions of Happy Birthday that we heard while we were there, many people consider this an occasion place. It's certainly good enough to fit that description. The server was nice but just very slow. It took a long time to place our orders and to get our food. Also we to ask twice for a couple of things. The food itself was very average. Of the four of us eating, none of us were very impressed. I ordered the poached eggs (advertised as poached eggs with smoked salmon, warm polenta croutons and baby spinach). I got two rubbery eggs on a overcooked english muffin, 1 bite of smoked salmon and a few leaves of spinach. I asked twice where the croutons were and was eventually told they were out. The other 3 people ordered frittatas, but they all received thin very limp omelets. Our waiter, Arian was outstanding as well as the food. Had the veal milanese with a side of pasta. Split some desserts which were fresh and delicious. Great wine list with acceptable pricing.
