Not your typical Japanese restaurant both in atmosphere and the food preparations. The Piri Ten fried calamari appetizer was amazing, best we've ever had, with pieces of calamari, onion, green beans and jalapeño fried in a tempura batter. Delicious! The edamame was topped with salt crystals which really added to the flavor and the tempura appetizer was flavorful and crunchy. One of our party got the Chicken Katsu Don and it looked really appetizing, definitely will give that a try! Deb got the Ahi tuna and loved the flavor and texture. I got the Akasaka Nights roll and was totally impressed! Great combination of flavors made with fresh and freshly prepared ingredients. The bar is a whole experience in itself! With an emphasis on Japanese alcohol, the drinks were creative, different and fantastic! Roku gin and Legent bourbon are already favorites of mine and this may inspire some creativity at home! I've been going to Moshi Moshi for years and it's become not just a great neighborhood sushi spot you can drop into but they have sophisticated cocktails, one of the most extensive Japanese whiskey collections in the city and a delicious mix of traditional and non-traditional Japanese food. They are always trying out new things and the service is incredible. It's a consistent, fun place that you can go to on date night and feel like you're at a special night at the bar - or you can sit outside with your family and have a lovely dinner with lots of kid-friendly food. They are also open for lunch and have a ton of options for a quick bite. My favorite things there are the super creative and delicious sushi rolls like the Osaka Sunset (wasabi, lemon, and salmon, sign me up!), the fresh sashimi they have and the fun appetizers like the best fried chicken karaage that is so tender inside but crisp on the outside! read more

Food was good and the bartender was very friendly, but the reason the review is not 5 stars is because of something I witnessed a server do. I was there last Friday, January 9th, before the warriors game. Me and my boyfriend were sitting at the bar and it was very busy and I witnessed the server come and punch the bartender and yelled at him saying "where the f*** are my drinks?!" And it made me very uncomfortable because the poor bartender was obviously working very hard because it was so busy. The server had a thick mustache and dark hair and I could tell it wasnt a light punch. I just wanted to say something because I found that behavior inexcusable. Tempura Udon: Not as savory as I'd hoped it would be, but it was perfect for a cold and rainy day. Tempura on the side was really good and well-battered. Golden Gate Roll: I never realized how good lemon slices taste on sushi rolls! Sake Kama: A limited-quantity salmon collar with a side of ponzu sauce. Perfectly crispy and tender (but does come with small bones) Unagi Nigiri: So savory and buttery soft! Definitely recommend this one if you like unagi. Service was also wonderful -- our food came out impressively quickly, and our server was super amicable and checked in with us multiple times. We decided to have dinner here 'cause it's walkable from the Chase Center. When we got there on a Wednesday evening, we got seated immediately. We were asked to show our ID and proof of vaccination card. To see the menu, you have to scan a QR code but you order through the waiter. We got Unagi Bomb, Piri Ten Calamari, Sun Dragon Roll, and Ahi Tuna bowl. All our foods came within 10-20 minutes. - Unagi Bomb: I love unagi but for $8, it was quite disappointing. The thing on top of the unagi (not sure what it's called) had such a strong taste, it overpowered everything else. - Piri Ten Calamari: The calamari was good, the breading was thin so you could definitely taste the squid! Love that they even included green beans! - Sun Dragon Roll: The roll was good, nothing stood out though. - Ahi Tuna Bowl: I wasn't a fan, the tuna had no flavor so it tasted very plain. I had this place on bookmark since 2020, and when I finally made it over here in 2023, there was zero disappointment! 10/10 dining experience here. The staff is very attentive and professional. We needed our soy sauce refilled and it was done within seconds! I loved the coconut ahi katsu steak. That was the favorites for the table. Both times I've dined here has been through reservations for 3 and 4. I would recommend the dining room over the outdoor patio. My girlfriend, and I remarked at a number of the paintings and decorations that were Pokémon Japanese themed. My father thoroughly enjoyed admiring the liquor collection that they have on display. The food was great, and came very quickly! All the staff were very kind and accommodating to our large party, and gave us a lot of extra spoons and cups when we asked. Especially James; we did not notify the restaurant of a birthday (which was the occasion), but he heard us singing and lit a candle and put sprinkles on our desserts before he came out with them! A quality sushi restaurant but nothing too different from the average sushi vibe. You can imagine my surprise when we walked inside, past the indoor dining and set eyes on their outside patio -- it's gorgeous. Adorned with succulents, lights, and down-to-earth wooden accent furniture, Moshi Moshi is a must-see! Not to mention the food, another delicious addition. Our friend dropped his chopsticks three times and the staff was so patient and kind. They immediately brought new chopsticks and were incredibly understanding. It was quite fun to order at Moshi Moshi. We shared food between the three of us to taste as many dishes as possible. Sushi: great. Chicken: super tasty, the perfect crunch. It has two indoor dining areas and an outdoor patio with heating lamps. The staff took proper measures to keep us covid safe. The bar is not yet open. I would feel bad giving these folks a 3 star because it was overall a pretty solid experience but they are right on the fringe - we'll call it a 3.5 rounded up to 4. We came here before the Warriors OKC game on Tuesday. We got reservations ahead of time though probably didn't need them since we got there around 5pm and it was pretty quiet. Though that did quickly change. We sat down and ordered a drink - they have a full bar here with a number of japanese-inspired cocktails. You look at the menu from the QR code link and it is a big one! We ended up getting the Bacon wrapped Mochi, Shishito peppers, Sun Dragon, and Carmel. We also ordered the Shrimp Gyoza after because we were still hungry. Everything was generally okay. Highlight was the bacon wrapped mochi which was amazingly delicious. Shishito peppers were tempura/fried and were just meh. The Carmel was by far the better roll - the Sun Dragon was also just meh. Shrimp Gyoza was good. My only complaint was that multiple tables came in and ordered after us yet got their food before us, even though we didn't order anything big or special. Comes with chili oil which is unique, but careful of smearing too much on it. Although we had reservations the place was not busy this night, we were seated right away. We sat in the patio area at a table that was wobbly and in the sun. We asked to change tables but they said we could only sit at that table. Kind of silly when the place was not busy. I assume it was because we were a party of 2. Moshi Moshi seems a little confused between being an upscale bar and a decent sushi restaurant. Service was average, we got our food quickly. Overall the sushi is good and fresh. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 rolls, and a piece of sashimi, this was over 80 bucks. So it is a little pricy, but it's sushi. The shishito peppers were delicious and the bacon-wrapped mochi is interesting. This place makes their money off the fans that are going to see games and are looking for good sushi, which they do have. But the place is kind of awkward for seating, could have been an off night but it was not the vibes. Good sushi, but I'll pass next time. read more

I like it! We were here for our date night and it was a nice spot! We ordered a couple dishes including katsu rice, udon karaage, grilled wings and bacon wrapped mochi. The food were not special by any means. But I really appreciate the details of each of these dishes. The Katsu chicken? Pork? Were light and airy. Rice has the perfect texture! Te salad dressing was also complimenting. However, i wish there's katsu sauce for the perfect rice. The katsu was a bit soggy on the bottom side because it wasnt placed on a rack.
