Not sure why there are so many low reviews. I had a great experience here over the weekend. Room was clean, service was good. It's a 2-star motel, dunno what people were expecting. It's expensive for a Motel 6, but that's because it's in a tourist town. My room was on the second floor. It appeared to have been renovated within the last few years. Nothing was broken/damaged/dirty. Nice parking lot. Pet friendly. They offer free coffee/tea in the morning, however the coffee is NOT good. But there is a great cafe (Stellar Brew) a few buildings down that you can walk to for coffee/breakfast. read more

I'm going to list the pros and cons Pros: Cheaper than others Nice up to date rooms Great TV Cons: - Smoking room was the ONLY available and it was so unclean and coated in cigarette smoke that i had to check out a day early and go home because i got completely sick and my eyes were on fire (after sleeping on the pillow my lips and eyes were burning so i washed my face and the residue on the rag was YELLOW - it was cigarette oils) - the sink pipe was broken so we had a puddle in our room anytime we washed our hands - when the maid was cleaning our room she was doing another room as well and LEFT OUR DOOR OPEN, i walked in and she didn't even notice because her headphones were in and i was able to take things from my suit case and leave, when she saw me she didn't even ask if it was my room. Honestly it was better than some but the fact that I had to leave a day early because the room was literally making me sick means i wasted over $120 and had to end my trip early. I'm home now and my eyes are still red and burning, i have hives on my back and face, and I've been having insane coughing fits. read more

My wife and I have been staying at Motel 6 three times now since we got a puppy because it's free and so convenient. The rates are very affordable especially when I book with Chase Reserve points. This Motel 6 is a great location for skiing as it's close to good food options and right by a shuttle stop if you walk down the hill. If you want a dog sitter we used Amy The Dog Sitter which is super close to the Motel. Also it seems like the rooms have been rennovated as they looked exactly like our stay in Santa Barbara. Obviously Motel 6 is anything but luxury but we have had good experiences so far as you have to have reasonable expectations. They also have seemed to be clean which is the most important part. Our experiences have definitely been better than the 2-3 stars that you usually see for Motel 6! read more

I just had a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend with my wife; everything from check in to check our was seamless and easy. Our room was clean and Covid safe, and the staff even helped me back my car out of the snow! They also kept the walkways shoveled clear of all snow. We will definitely be back!!! read more

I am going to start this review by saying, it is a Motel 6, not a resort hotel. That said, for the price you pay, I think it is a good deal. Our options this Thanksgiving holiday were pay 300 or more per night to stay at one of the Mammoth collectives or pay 99 and stay here. Having stayed at Mammoth Inn a number of times, I honestly rather save the money and stay at this Motel 6. Pros: - Cheap, especially in this town - Right by the red line bus stop (takes you straight to the main lodge for free) - Parking right outside your room - Dog friendly - Laminate floors (Some people hate it, I love it. I am allergic to carpet and when I track in snow and mud from a day of riding, the last thing I want is to sleep in a room with moldy wet carpet). - Good water pressure in the shower Cons: - Very small rooms, largest bed is a queen. Most have fulls. Hardly any floor space around the beds. - Bed mattress sucks. Not comfortable at all. You get 2 pillows. That's it. - No shampoo, no lotion, no frills. Doesn't matter to me, I always bring my own stuff. - No breakfast. Also doesn't matter to me, I rarely eat the free breakfasts at hotels. - Can be really warm in the winter. Not much temperature control. I usually just turned the thermostat off and turn it back on the lowest setting if I get cold. - You have to slam the doors shut, they dont always close. That all said, room was fairly clean. It could be better, but I am saving 200 dollars a night, so this is fine. All in all, a good deal if you want to stay in town on a bargain. If you want something nicer, I'd recommend Tamarack Lodge, a little bit more but much nicer. Just need to book much more in advance. read more

Clean, compact rooms, right out of IKEA furniture, frig & microwave, not much closet / storage space but washer and dryer on site so no need to pack a lot. Great water pressure, even if you have to duck a little in the shower and bring own shampoo and soap. central to the town. We stopped here from Vegas on route to San Fran. Do not stay here if you have any other choice! I only picked this hotel because I arrived late with no reservation and every other place in Mammoth was booked. I walked in to the room and there was a cock roach on the wall and an ant on the pillow. I turned the sheets back and there is a huge black hair on them. The wifi and air conditioning both work the same - that is to say, not at all. From the looks of one of my neighbors, his a/c doesn't work either because he has his door wide open too. Though I wasn't in the mood for a swim, the pool was void of water for some unknown reason. In hindsight, sleeping in my car would have been a better choice. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. BILL THE MANAGER & EVERY EMPLOYEE. My friend and I did a last minute trip to mammoth middle of july. We stayed for one night as we were traveling and experiences the WORST customer service and STILL CONTINUING to receive horrible service. We accidentally left our swim suit bottoms in a towel on the bed and quickly realized it 20 minutes after we left. I called and explained what happened and they took my number down and said they would check and call back. I HAVE CALLED THEM 11 separate times to try and get my bottoms back. I have left my number with them over half of those times and talked to probably EVER SINGLE employee there. They have told me 1. we have the bottoms. 2. we don't have them. 3. we will check storage and call back. 4. THE MANAGER EVEN TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD CALL BACK IN 30 MINUTES AFTER HE CHECKED STORAGE (which they said they were in there) and I haven't heard back in over a week. They are rude and inconsiderate. I get that you are busy but if you SAY YOURE GOING TO CALL SOMEONE BACK AFTER CHECKING FOR THEM. CALL THEM BACK!!!! I have already told everyone i know that travels through mammoth to avoid this place and their crappy customer service. side note on their horrible service: when we checked in we were greeted in a half ass smile and an eye roll from the front desk as we took an extra minute or two to get everything sorted out with the reservation. read more

Visited mammoth June 2019. The room they gave me was a "handicap" room with a bathroom that is the half the size of the entire room. I told the front desk lady, I did not book a "Handicap" room. Matter of fact, there is no "Handicap" room option when booking online so I don't what she is talking about. Secondly, I told the front desk lady, even Travelodge (cheaper than Motel 6) has a small micro. and a refrig. per room. NO EXTRA CHARGE. The front desk said, if I wanted a micro. and a frig., I would have to pay extra $10/ per day. I told her, that wasn't mentioned on their website. Thirdly, I asked why the pool wasn't in operation. She just shrugged her shoulders as though she didn't know. I told her, check the website. IT CLEAR STATES "POOL" AVAILABLE. I met few Europeans staying at Motel 6 who had the same complaint. They asked the front desk for a "Discount" and was turned down. Forth, I asked room cleaning lady, if I could have a shampoo (only few soap bars given when checked in). The lady said, you'll have to pay for each small shampoo. NONE OF THESE EXTRA CHARGES WHERE MENTIONED ON THEIR WEBSITE. Fifth, the walls, including the ceiling are so thin, you can hear everything, from walking, talking, flushing the toilet, moving a chair........ Lastly, the front entrance door had a gap that requires a weather strip. Because my room was on the ground level near the pool, ants were getting in. I had to make sure all my belongs were placed on top of tables that were provided (very small and few tables to speak of to place my luggage's). Even though it was June, a night the room got cold due to wind blowing in through the bottom of the door. I've decided to check out 1 day early (NOT SATISFIED WITH MOTEL 6 EXPERIENCE). The front desk employee was a male. Before i could say anything, he asked me "checking out" and I said yes. His response was leave the door key/card on the desk. Nothing more - how was your stay, did we meet your expectations........ I DON'T RECOMMEND MOTEL 6. I DON'T CARE HOW CHEAP THE PRICES ARE. THERE IS "BASIC" CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN DOING BUSINESS. EXPLAIN YOUR OFFERINGS CLEAR AND CONCISE IN WRITING. For $308.00 for 3 nights, I'd rather pay more and stay at a comfortable place. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Is there a " 0 star" on here? We opted not to camp night 2 and look for a dog friendly room through the " Bringfido" app. When we arrived to check in , we asked the front desk clerk to split the payment and we were charged incorrectly. We drive to our room number and with the two card keys they give us, neither one works! I tried to open the door so many times with both keys and it wasn't happening, when finally after the 10th try it opened. We entered a sauna room at a Motel. The room was so hot and muggy. Started unloading our stuff and we made sure we took EVERYTHING out of the car. The car parked next to us, not sure if he was security on duty because all he was doing was starring us down , smiling and nodding his head up and down was acting pretty funny. Since we had trouble getting in the room, I checked the door handle and noticed every time I turned it, it was getting stuck and needed some type of WD-40. I wanted to make sure it wasn't the key once again so I double checked it and I couldn't get inside. As hard as i pushed the door, it wasn't opening. My partner and I and our fur baby needed to go up the street to get some medicine and we didn't want to get locked out so I head down to the office to speak to the manager. I tell her if there is any way she can have someone go check our door because it's not opening and don't want to be locked out. She tells me that she can give me another room and she doesn't guarantee anything because 90% of her rooms are old and have problems with the door handle. Being so rude and unprofessional, she ( the manager) said she wasn't going to walk in the dark to help open the door. Being an onsite manager I don't see why she wasn't capable of doing that for us. We weren't expecting the Hilton, we were just looking for a roof over our head vs. camping but we didn't get half the service we paid for. read more

so my friends and i stayed here for 1 night (fri to sat) and it was $150. id say its pretty expensive for what you get.. I think its only expensive bc the rooms are all remodeled. I'm not sure if all the rooms are but the rooms next to us looked exactly like ours. No shampoo, no conditioner, no lotion provided. only a few towels and 2 bar soaps. I mean it seemed cleaned but I don't really like motels bc I don't know if I can trust that everything was disinfected/cleaned properly and if the sheets were changed properly. the pressure in the shower was great. especially after a long day of snowboarding, it felt really nice. there was a bath mat on top of the toilet for us to use but it seemed kinda dirty... so we didnt use it. parking can fill up pretty quickly so I'd come early and take the shuttle if you need to go somewhere. I do like that theres two shuttle stops near by. also the entrance to this place is really weird. If you're coming from bishop, the entrance is kind of hard to find. its not going to be the first entrance that looks like it, but theres a sign that says motel 6 and points uphill. just look for this sign. it can be hard to find esp for us since the snow was covering everything. read more

This place needs to get their shit together. First, we booked in November, on the Motel 6 site, come February they wanted to give us a smoking/twin room. Right, well we dont smoke and had our infant with us. It was an issue to get the room we booked in november. Took an extra 25 minutes of check in, and TWO different smoking rooms offered before they "found" a room, WHICH WAS INITIALLY WHAT WE BOOKED. Second, the staff. 3 teenage looking boys were the housekeeping? They looked sketchy as hell, and I was immediately defensive of them being in my room. Had to do a quick belonging check. Third, we ALWAYS stay at motel 6 when we do overnight trips and have never ever EVER had a problem. And we've stayed at THIS specific motel 6, and always felt comfortable. Corporate needs to come make a visit and take a better look at the staff in this specific spot. Completely disappointing. We wont stay here again. read more

We have stayed at motel 6 in other locations from time to time due to circumstances however this was by far the worst we have ever experienced. Okay it's an economy motel BUT it was snowing and we had 1 very thin bed cover. No extra blankets, no extra pillows, no coffee, no shampoo, lotion etc, no hairdryer or extras of any kind. Hard threadbare towels. We wanted to change rooms to have a frig and a "room change" was going to cost $25 or something. Really? Lady at front desk was very blase and indifferent. I'm giving this place 4 stars because for what you pay - it's a great place. Especially for people like us who have a dog, the Motel 6 is great with no dog fees. It's easy to check in, the location is in the very centre of everything in Mammoth, no hidden fees, no dog fees, the rooms are fairly spacious, they're clean enough (yes, there's usually a stain on the wall but the bed is clean), and you can walk to Schatt's Coffee in the morning. They also have always had a functioning AC/heater every time we've stayed. We'll be back! read more

Ok, so it's a motel 6. I wasn't looking to stay at the Taj Mahal. I've stayed here before when it was ski season and it was certainly better than sleeping in the snow. So, here it is in October, when nothing is going on and they want $129 a night for one person. Haha ha.... No. I'd rather sleep in a cardboard box behind a dumpster, than pay that much for a motel 6. Just because you are in a resort town doesn't make your cheap arse Pergo Palace a resort. I slept in my luxury van out by the hot springs and had a way better night and faster internet. The beds were alright, and the only other perk was that it was pet friendly, but everything else was cheap. Water pressure was terrible, sink was labeled incorrectly, took awhile for hot water, and the toilet was awful. The cable was going in and out the entire time we were here and there were no weather obstructions to block the satellite. The toilet did not flush with each flush, and overflowed several times. Around 7pm when I confronted the front office, I was told they didn't have a plunger so I could try to fix it myself, and was told that a plumber would check it out at 8am the next day. We went skiing all day the next day and when we returned at 5pm, no one had come and the toilet was unusable. When we confronted the front office AGAIN they magically had a plunger and sent someone up immediately. There is also not a bathroom in the lobby. No thermostat, so blazing hot or freezing cold. Bring all your toiletries because they are not offered in the room. Overall service was terrible, room was uncomfortable, and for $149 a night after tax that's unacceptable. read more

Stayed at this motel 6 on thanksgiving and we were surprised by how clean and welcoming the place was. We were traveling with kids so we had to spend a night at the motel 6 in Ridgcrest which was the grossest motel 6 we've ever seen, so when we checked in into mammoth we were so relieved by how cleaned the room looked and smelled. The beds were neat and we could finally sleep that night. the girl that checked us in that night was very sweet and made our check in experience even better. We hope to be back next year read more

This is the only Motel 6 I have stayed at and will stay at. It's perfect to get recover after a day on the mountain. It is worth the price for the location, close to a shuttle stop, across the way from a great couple of bars/food, coffee shop and a little corner market. So convenient 10/10 would recommend if you're a single/couple coming up to enjoy skiing/riding and walking around. read more

My husband is hiking the PCT. We were advised that this Motel 6 was hiker friendly and to send packages there for pick up. I sent a package that arrived in Mammoth Lakes Post Office on July 2, yesterday. The motel employees are advising my husband that they are too busy to walk across the street and pick up this package. When you travel with two big dogs Motel 6 is a good option because the dogs are free and the rooms are basically indestructible. I don't require luxury and am totally happy with a clean, quiet room most of the time. But in Mammoth, I'd say you're better off paying more if you can to stay somewhere else. Our ground floor room (114) was clean, comfortable, and quiet, but the bathroom was more disgusting than some gas station bathrooms I've been in. The fixtures were clean but the floor was filthy, the shower creepy. Went 2 nights without a shower because it was just too disgusting. Maybe this is useful for folks who ski in winter-- a nice big tile area to put your skis and wet stuff but man, it's just too gross for regular use. I'm giving 2 stars because it was very quiet and I did sleep well, at least, and the front desk clerk invited me to ask for more blankets, which I did because Motel 6 always skimps on those, so I was warm enough. read more
