I heard so many things about this place, especially the hype where you have to order the pizza months in advance. Fortunately, these days the pizzas are more accessible - you can get one during a Mariners game, or go before/at opening to score their limited number of pizzas available walk-in. I personally pre-ordered in July for September pickup, and got the Crab, Mr. Pig, and Clam Chowdah pizzas. It was fresh out of the oven around the pickup time, about a few minutes late. The crab one has a nice lemon flavor with decent amount of crab, but definitely on the more expensive side. It was the least flavorful of the 3 pizzas we ordered, but it was still fairly flavorful from the crust. The Mr. Pig is probably my favorite and also a fan favorite as it is the #1 most ordered pizza here. There is Lechon kawali (Filipino pork belly), sausage, etc so it is a Filipino inspired combo pizza. I really love the sweet green sauce they tasted like a cilantro chutney (ingredients say it is a calamansi lime sauce) and wished they gave more (or even as a dipping sauce!) The clam chowdah is very garlicky and had decent amount of clam. They have 1 actual clam shell per slice (so 4 total). This is the most flavorful pizza that we got. Overall, the pizzas were solid and the crust had a nice crunch and flavor to it. The pizzas were fairly filling - 1 pizza can comfortably feed 2 people for a satisfying meal. Had such high expectations for this place after seeing the great reviews and all the talk about the long line. We were not able to get an order in online but stop by and made one in person on the tablet. It took about 1 hour for our pizzas to get done but they were absolutely worth the wait. We had the pig and clam chowder pizzas and they were both amazing. Can't wait to try some of the other flavors next time we're in the area. Such a cute storefront. Some of the best Detroit-style pizza I've had. Even better with the integration of their Filipino heritage and unique combos of ingredients. The service was super friendly and it was a breeze to order a pizza ahead of time online and pick up to eat in the seating area in front of the restaurant. We split the Mr Pig and Clam Chowdah. Both were absolutely fantastic, with a perfectly crispy crust and generous, pillowy foccacia base. My only comment would be that I wish the ingredients were less sparse. They give you one notification for the date and time of your order. Don't lose that or forget to put it on your calendar if you can't remember! Our pizza appointment time came and we ventured out there with much excitement. The pizza place is in a cute tiny house kind of like in the movie Up. You can go up to the window to check to see if your order is ready. There are about 8 tables outside, so in the summer you could eat there. But in the PNW, best to have a plan B. This is a very good pizza establishment (not really a restaurant) with some very unique logistics. This establishment doesn't have any indoor seating, only outdoor seating. It's more of a to-go eatery, but there are quite a few tables in the courtyard, where you can eat your pizza. There are umbrellas over the tables, but when it is the rainy season in Seattle, I would suggest ordering the pizza to-go. The pizza sells out extremely fast, so you must order pizzas several months in advance. There is another location, that recently opened in Edmonds, it may not be as busy as this location. Moto serves Detroit style pizza. This was my first time eating Detroit style pizza, and I was very impressed. The pizzas had great flavor, with an outstanding crust and delicious toppings. This time I had a fun taste testing with my friends, and we agreed that the order from best to worst are: Mr. Pig Beef Adobo Crab Kissd / Root tie But even the lowest ranked is really good! The pizza is the best when eaten fresh, but it's also good if you freeze them and then put in the air fryer, so we always order extra to keep in our freezer until our next order. What a really unique concept. I remember hearing about this elusive pizza spot years ago that attaining such good grub was via months' long waiting via pre-orders. Now it seems they've evolved a bit and walk-in's are now welcome. As I researched more about this place I was shocked to learn of the 3M waitlist to place an order. Determined I started following them on social media and placed a January order the first day spots opened. I ordered 4 pies and promptly put a bunch of calendar reminders 3 months out. Finally the day came. My husband picked them up and to be honest I was a bit surprised by how small the pies looked. Each pie costs around $20 so I was a bit wary. But when I bit into one, it was clear each slice is super thick and heavy. Overall I loved the more classic flavors with tomato sauce. The special ones were interesting but to be honest too experimental for me. Maybe it's bc I miss the classic nyc slice too much. All I can say is YUCK! This pizza was terrible. We were really hyped up about the pizza, but didn't quite understand the wait. The wait/scarcity hype is a marketing technique and is BS. I received the vegan pepperoni pizza and it was soggy and mostly crust with very little toppings. It tasted like a gallon of salt had been poured on top of it. It was horrible. Could there be more flexibility on the toppings - considering each pizza is custom made? Probably. Yay! I finally was able to try MOTO Pizza in West Seattle! There is still a two month wait, but their ordering page is only open for a few days at a time. I started following them on Instagram (xoxomotopizza) to get notified. Yes, you need to mark your calendar for the day/time you sign up for, but they will text you on the day of when your order is ready to be picked up. For two people, I thought ordering two different pizzas was perfect. Each pizza has four slices, so I could try two different flavors and have leftovers for the next day (it reheats well). I ordered Mr Pig (the most popular) which has Filipino pork belly, spicy pork sausage, onion, cheese, parmesan, calamansi lime sauce, and Mr Pig sauce. I also got Root (vegetarian) which has mushrooms, cheese, parmesan, black olives, onion, tomato sauce, and balsamic glaze. I was a little worried since I don't like spicy foods and several of their pizzas have "spicy sausage". However, it is not "hot" spicy. The pickup went pretty smoothly since my order was pre-paid and the workers there were super nice. The only tricky thing was finding a parking spot. Street parking is scarce but there is a paid lot across the street. They have a couple of outdoor picnic benches in front of the building where you can eat your food. This is ODD PIZZA for sure - don't come in with expectations of what pizza should be, and lean into their delicious and inventive flavor creations. My order included the crab, beef adobo and kiss'd. The crab was bright and balanced, my favorite slice. The beef adobo was an umami bomb, and I would definitely get this again. While the kiss'd was delicious it was overshadowed by the complexity and outstanding other pizzas ordered. I am a dedicated pizza snob, and I get into it a little more than most people (okay, a LOT more). It's so simple, yet so easy to screw up and, contrary to popular belief, it is not "like sex - even when it's bad, it's good" (for proof of this, I point you to the East Coast and Wawa's new offering on their menu). However, we are not ON the East Coast - we are in the Pacific Northwest and smack dab in West Seattle, home to "MOTO Pizza." I've checked it out here and there in passing, but online ordering (three months in advance) has always been sold out. However, I found out their dirty little secret and planted myself there at store opening in order to snag an early pie, and was successful. Once, I had a burger in New York City that was touting itself as being worthy for Christ at the Last Supper (okay, that was my interpretation) and I ordered it ready to blow their doors off with a ton of, "You've got nerve." Well, the burger was incredible and I gave the sign of the cross. I had the same attitude with MOTO after all the hype, and was ready to pee on their pie. The verdict? I loved it. Was it the best pizza I ever had? No. How can that possibly be judged?? I will say that it was highly satisfying and I loved the tomato sauce. Loved it. It was exactly the kind of sauce I dig on my eucharist. For my initial order, I went with the "kissd" - pepperoni, spicy sausage, hot honey. I found the meat distribution pretty fair - not too much, not too little. The crust was awesome - thick but not doughy, though I'd like it a little more well done, but that's a personal preference (90% of the people want it the way they cook it, and that's fine). $19.00 for four thick slices in its own custom little box. Perfect. "Moto cheese blend" was good, but nothing extraordinary. Sausage was very good, but I wasn't tasting the "spicy" in its description. My first reaction after finishing was, "I should have ordered two" but the size is actually perfect if you're not an overeating glutton like myself. One is not enough, two is too much. Next time, I'm ordering two. So, to conclude, to each their own. I loved it, but would NEVER, EVER order it three months in advance since I'm a "I'm in the mood for this" person when I'm hungry. MotoCone with butter pecan and chocolate ice cream: I was slightly disappointed with this one... until we overheard the owner talking about putting chili oil on it . Luckily, the lady gave us a sample of chili oil to sample so we experiment and omg it was amazing! That chili oil has a nice crunch and it brought a different flavor profile to the ice cream. The MotoCone itself was good, but I do wish it was easier to eat. I was hoping we can pick it up and eat it like an ice cream cone but there's a hole both side so you got eat it with a spoon. It was hard to cut through the cone with a spoon so you end up having to use your end to tear it anyway. Overall, there were some minor issues but its not significant. Order placed on 1/30 for 4/15 pickup. I guess you can do walk-up orders if there is availability for that day, but this is not ideal if you're coming from out of town. Pre-order will guarantee you get exactly what you want. We were a group of 3 adults and 3 very young kids so our order was pretty basic (Cheese, Pepperoni and Kissd). BUT, it was the best basic pizzas ever! Haha. I was definitely not disappointed after the high anticipation. There really is something about the crust. It is so crispy and good! While I called our pizzas the basic ones, the flavors were tasty. It was delicious! Pro tip: bring something refreshing to drink and have some cleaning wipes. You'll need it for your hands and face (well the kids did) later. I reheated the leftovers in an air fryer for two days later and it was still good. The crust stayed crispy after 1 day but not so much after 2 days. We were excited to get soft serve too. I asked to try it with the moto oil and owner Lee was so kind to let me try some. Wow, the crunch in the oil was so unexpected. I love sweet and savory combos and this marriage was perfect. Note: the moto oil is not something on the soft serve menu offering. How great is this pizza that you need to order 2 months in advance?? Is it worth the price tag?? What should I try for the first time? Are those questions you have before reading this review? Here are my answers: The pizza here is great. It's Detroit style, which to me means a square pizza with a crunchier crust and sweeter dough. The toppings are unique. We tried the Crab pizza and Mr. Pig. Both are delicious! I personally think the crab one was more special. We ordered 2 pizzas (about $60), and it was the right amount to share between 4 not too hungry people. To order, go to their website and set an alarm for the opening order date. Yes, you will have to order 2 months in advance, or try your luck as a walk-in. Worth it? I gave this place a 4-star because of the price tag. You can get potentially better and definitely more food for the money. But it's an experience! So I recommend trying it at least once. read more
