Went in for a bite to eat to satisfy some pregnancy cravings. I walked in to browse the food and was shocked to see a bunch of fruit flys all over the food and pastries. I have always found the staff to be helpful and pleasant. On a sunny day sitting on the patio is very relaxing with the ocean only 1/2 a block away. This place was like a cute corner cafe close to the beach. They had tables both indoor and outdoor, wore their masks, covid safe. The lady working the front was so sweet! I don't eat too much French food so I was trying to figure out what to get, and she was super helpful. There was something else I wanted to try, but they have a smaller menu now due to covid unfortunately. No big deal though! We got the L'Omelette Moulin (mushroom and pesto chicken omelette) and La Crepe Complete (ham and cheese with sunny side up egg on top), both came with mixed greens on the side with a vinaigrette dressing. I asked if they could add tomatoes, and she cut some on the side for me even though she says usually they don't do that (SO NICE). The omelette also came with a piece of bread and strawberry jam. There were a lot of yummy looking pastries and breads (really wanted the baguette but I gotta minimize the carbs lmao.. so hard), I opted for the chocolate eclair, it was muy delicioso! (Oh wait, that's spanish... lol gotta learn some French). Also got some white wine and the mango nectar bottled drink, soo good! Overall flavor of croissants, bread pastries & sandwiches are high standard French style at best... good authentic ingredients... and simple French classic. Expect healthy beach front price. I think the ham is homemade which is cool, but I personally didn't like it. I wished it was thinner. The croissantwich was disappointing. The eggs were overcooked and bland, and the croissant for the sandwich was dry. The best thing I ordered was the mini pain aux raisins next to the cashier. I really recommend those. I don't want to admit how much money I spent at Moulin during the two months I lived nearby, but I have no regrets. My go-to orders here were a cappuccino and either a slice of quiche or an almond croissant (sometimes both). The quiche was consistently good and had a perfect texture. Loved that it came with a little side salad so I could pretend like I was being healthy. The almond croissants always had the perfect almond taste. You can tell they use quality almond paste and not just almond flavoring. The amount of almond paste did make the croissant a bit cakey in the middle, but I liked it. If you're not a fan of quiche or croissants, my husband's go-to items were the chocolate eclair and pork friand. Sabine was generally behind the register, and even when the lines were long, she kept things moving quickly. read more

We drove out to the San Clemente location for lunch and everything was really good. They offer outdoor seating and is across the street from the beach. After lunch we took a very short walk to the beach. The staff was very friendly and I would recommend this place if you are in the area. Finally made it down and enjoyed breakfast. I love the large coffee cups and their patio seating with the trees for natural shade and the manicured bushes for privacy. Outdoors is pup friendly and our pointer enjoyed the chatty little birds. They also have a doggie water bowl and the staff even offer to bring it up to your pup. My husband and I had the omelettes with fresh fruit. It was absolutely excellent!!! Omelettes were fluffy and scrumptious and the fruit was very fresh. Price was quite reasonable and portion sizes were ample. Staff were very polite, quick to service and attentive. We really enjoyed and will most definitely be back. I've been to this restaurant three or four times now and the bake goods are superb. The non-bakery items are OK, nothing special, but going there for the bakery itself is well worth the trip. I the staff is very friendly but not overly professional. I suppose it's better to have friendly people waiting on you then people who are technically competent but have no personalities. So in that respect the service is very good. The only flaw I found was that they run out of popular items like their chocolate croissants to early. If you're running out of those popular items early in the morning just make more. You're not going to lose money on the baked goods because eventually people are going to buy them since the restaurant is only open till 3 o'clock anyway. So why run out of anything that's popular. All in all this is a good place and you can even bring your pets if you sit outside. read more

What a cozy little spot :). My husband took me to this place for the first time a few weeks ago and I only wanted a Madeline cookie. I like to try those in different places. It was one of the best I had in a long time. Buttery and not overly sweet at all. So this time I've decided to try a few different things. It's hard to decide because they have a beautiful exposition of their "art" right when you enter (picture attached). So many different colors and flavors to choose from. I got a slice of Tropezienne and a Mont Blanc pearl. Did you know Tropezienne was actually invented by Polish confectioner Alexandre Micka? :) It was DELICIOUS! Slice looks huge but it's not your typical cake. Cream was fluffy, orangey and very light. Not really sweet. And cake at the top and bottom was delicate as a feather. Super yummy creation and easy to eat whole piece. I wonder how many calories hides there :p. I didn't enjoy the Month Blanc as much as I did T because it had no meringue in it and that type of desert should have it hm. Also it tasted a little bland. Anyway, they also have delicious coffee and regular food, plenty on the menu. Some unique juices like nectarine, apricot and more. I should have taken more pictures :). My husband is Moulin's rep from Chef's Warehouse in Newport location, and has talked this place up since he started handling the account. I was so excited to have this place come to my home town. This place is so damn cute! All the workers are so lovely. And the food was amazing. The presentation of the displays were impeccable! What makes the owner cooler than all others, is that he wanted to have a spot in San Clemente because he loves surfing! Why wouldn't you support this guy! Finally made it here. I'm a huge fan of the original Moulin in Newport Beach, and this San Clemente location is really cute. There's both inside and outside seating, but the best part is it is a few steps away from the beach, so you can pick up food and then enjoy it by the water. The offerings are of course not as extensive as Newport Beach but all the favorite pastries are there, and also, the croques madame and monsieur. There are also the beautiful crepes here. This is an excellent spot for those in south county not wanting to drive to Newport or Laguna. read more

Result: an OVERPRICED and BAD sandwich. Hardly any ham and cheese. The sandwich was very thin. There was no butter or anything else which resulted in DRY sandwich with no flavor. It's my new favorite spot in San Clemente for breakfast. I might be a bit biased in my review since the owners are from Alsace, where I grew up but the food is really good. Prices are little steep given the location which you can't beat. Croissants are nice and crusty on the outside, Croque Madame is to die for. Little tip: you can buy a small bottle of Cremant d'Alsace and a bottle of fruit syrup from their epicerie section and you can make your own Kir Royale, Alsace style, to share. Came here to get breakfast at around 10am on a Saturday. The place was filled up with customers already, we found a table by the window where we could see the ocean from. The interior decoration is fresh and cozy - with a lot of French elements. We ordered a orange cheese French toast, a chicken pesto omelette, a lemon tart, a latte and a piece of cake. Food was served quickly, and we were very satisfied with the food quality. - salad is so fresh that you can feel the crisp from the vegetables - French toast served in an iron pan enriched the texture of the French toast, unlike other places, the butter has citrus flavor which optimally balance off the greasiness from the butter - latte is served and finished with a piece of dark chocolate There's also other merchandises that are from French colonies, so if you ever miss home or miss having a good cafe near by the beach, this is where you should go. read more

Cute place right by the beach! My eyes sparkled with joy while looking at all the delicious treats. We came here after a hike and got omelets. The omelets were good but I feel that you can get a good omelet just about anywhere these days. As for the pastries and desserts. Wow! The custard is so soft it's like biting into a cloud. The level of sweetness was not overbearing like you would find in many American desserts. I had no problem finishing off my dessert on my own and the same can be said about my friend. He ordered a mango and coconut pudding and that was pretty good too. If you're in the area I would recommend stopping by this adorable location.
