They serve food with raw pork. This place needs to be shut down immediately for health code violations. There are other reviews with pictures of raw pork so I checked my dumplings and what do you know? Pink. Totally inedible. Too bad I didn't notice the other reviews until I had already eaten several. The soup dumplings? No soup and pork was raw. The pan fried dumplings were cooked on super high heat. They were burnt black and surprise surprise. The pork inside was pink. Got the wonton with spicy sauce. It wasn't spicy and.....the pork was raw. Don't come here. Eating raw pork is no joke. Serving raw pork is even worse. This place should be ashamed of themselves for serving raw pork to customers. I'll be disputing this charge on my card since I couldn't eat most of the food due to the uncooked pork. read more

Really great option for Chinese food in Lake City. The green beans are the best I've probably ever had. They had my kids fighting over who got the last bites. The variety is good and it's nice to have a dumpling option that isn't a large chain. Nice vegetarian options as well. The Mapo Tofu rice bowl was excellent and the portions were enormous. Probably the best thing about this restaurant though, was the woman who was serving us. She was honestly just incredibly kind in a way we haven't experienced in ages. Wow oh wow! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this restaurant on Yelp. I love hand-pulled noodles and a good bao. As soon as I saw the photos and read the reviews, I knew I was in for a treat! I decided to order the spicy hand-pulled noodles and pan fried beef bao for takeout. In retrospect, I should've ordered one dish- the portions here are massive so come hungry! The hand-pulled noodles have the perfect thick texture and are very spicy. I love the shredded cucumbers that top the noodles, which add a perfect balance to the spice. The only thing that could've been better is the five-spice blend- I feel like it was a bit overused in the dish. Now on to the pan fried beef baos- plump, perfectly crispy on the bottom, and loaded with meat! The beef was almost like a meatball and seasoned well with onions. I could barely eat one bao and a quarter of the noodles before I was full. All in all a great spot! I'll definitely be adding it to my food rotation! read more

It was the first cold(er) rainy day following the warm start to the fall, and I happened to be on Lake City Way feeling a little chilly, and I saw Mount and Bao with the "open" sign on (it was 11am). I wasn't super hungry, but I needed something warm, so I stopped in for hot and sour soup, an order of bbq pork BAO, and hot tea. Perfect! For less than $15 no less! The best bao! On Jan 2nd I found the bakery across the street closed and was on the sidewalk trying to decide what to do when I noticed the pretty pink and orange booths through the window so I went inside. I love a comfy booth by a big window. I ordered the yummy crystal shrimp and excellent scallion pancake to eat while I waited for a to-go order. To take home, I ordered the eggplant in garlic sauce, pork & fennel dumplings and Sichuan Shredded Pork w/garlic sauce. Expectations exceeded! Perfectly prepared eggplant, lovely and silky/spicy with oil and garlic. The shredded pork was delish, with lots of a kind of mushroom that I can't identify and then some kind of veggie - bamboo? - and tons of flavorful pork. The pork and fennel dumplings are unusual and fragrant with fennel. I'm so impressed with the quality; spicy and full of flavor and not gratuitously "hot". A dish of crunchy sweet/tart pickled radish was brought to the table with the pot of tea. There are the condiments on the table - soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil and siracha. I appreciated the menu that had pictures along with English and Chinese (I guess?) descriptions of the dishes. Attracted by their name, and long lines outside, I decided to visit this restaurant on a Friday night. I had a Groupon deal, which was $14 for $20 worth of food. To my surprise, i was told on the phone i needed to spend $30 to claim the deal, but this wasn't listed on Groupon. Oh well, i guess a good excuse to order more food. I ordered two spicy wontons, and one salt and garlic wings. The flavor were tasty but more towards the strong flavor side, particularly the wontons. Wings were the highlight for me. We were excited to see a new Chinese restaurant with such high enthusiasm from the local people (We waited for 20 mins to be seated). However, we ended up liking the dish of the salted pepper fried chicken the most, which is not their specialty of bao. We ordered a chicken soup, but barely found chicken in the soup... we thought we made a wrong order. The soup doesn't taste bad, but resembles the taste from (maybe a good) instant noodle soup. We ordered pork soup dumplings and beef baos. After we had our first bites of the beef bao, we all thought it was pork because the meat looked and tasted exactly like our pork dumplings. We asked a waiter first, and he immediately responded it was pork after he took a look. We then told him that our order might be mistaken. He then said he had to ask the manager. So the manager came and took a quick glimpse. She said it was beef because "their pork and beef are both pinky" and it was because "they didn't add any soy sauce in it". We were surprised at how certain she was and didn't even think of checking for us when, according to her, the color should be the same and we have told her that there was no beef flavor in it. Put aside the disappointment on the manager's reaction, we think the baos were alright but lacking some flavors. We asked for ginger which is a standard way to eat with soup dumplings but the manager told us they don't provide ginger. read more

After seeing so many positive reviews I was very excited to try this place. I ordered: Green beans: big portions, EXTREMELY salty. Completed covered in Szechuan peppercorns. 5/10 Hand pulled noodles: good texture, very oily and not much flavor. Could definitely use a fresh element and something crunchy. Maybe crushed peanuts like dough zone uses? 3/10 Pork soup dumplings: thick dumpling skin, flavorless filling, bo dipping sauce, bowl to make dipping sauce or spoon to eat them in/catch the soup. 1/10 Rice: never came out and was still charged for it. 0/10? Service was 0/10. After being seated we waited quite a while for water. Once we ordered things came out very spaced out and our rice was completely skipped. We got green beans 10-15 min before everything else, by the time our dumplings came the green beans were cold. By the time the noodles came the green beans AND dumplings were cold. We eventually gave up on the rice and got the bill, where we were charged for the rice still. $45 for 3 extremely mediocre dishes. There were 5+ employees walking around but one poor guy was seating everyone, taking orders, filling waters, delivering the food bringing the bill and answering the phone. The other 4 people were pretty cluelessly clearing tables and sometimes bringing napkins and utensils. This place needs some major management help :( read more

What a hidden gem of deliciousness. I placed an online order at Mount and Bao and it was ready in 15 minutes even though the order receipt said was going to take 30 minutes for pick up. We ordered fried noodles with beef, chicken fried rice, and hot and sour soup. The chow-mein fried noodles were garlicky and delicious. The hot and sour soup was the perfect amount of spicy with a lot of flavor. The take out order was fast, huge portions, and packaged up in this cute reusable bag. The only downside is parking. It's street parking that can be hard to find for a take out order. We will definitely be back. read more

There was a good amount of serving but would rather go to Din Tai Fung for dimsum. Ordered Uber Eats from their new Lake City location. Nice bag, that's a plus (if a bit confusing: it was from Seattle Dumpling Co, NOT Mount&Bao). We received four boxes of food: General Tso's Chicken, some of the ground beef/onion dumplings, stir-fried Broccoli, and pan-fried Beef Bao. The boxes were already disintegrating when we got them despite being delivered very promptly (watching your driver's progress is a great feature). They were so flimsy that the box on the bottom had basically collapsed, spilling oil and broth all over the bag and making a huge mess. I'm *not* chalking that fail up to the driver, they need to use better containers. The dumplings had a thick skin, and barely any meat or broth in them. Honestly, Trader Joe's dumplings are better than these. Extremely disappointing, they seemed to have perhaps been previously frozen, not fresh? I was really stunned by this, since this place is supposed to be all the rage for dumplings and we were really looking forward to it. The Beef Bao had much the same problem in terms of little meat, mostly bun. Tasted fine if all you want is a piece of bread. The General Tso's tasted ok, but the breading was pasty underneath, not crisp at all. The Broccoli was ok, if a bit wet. Was a waste of our money, we won't order from them again. read more

I think if you are getting delivery or pick up it would be a better experience. Only one person to serve for the entire restaurant which probably makes it challenging. I wish they would have at least given us a serving spoon and a plate (paper would be ok). We got a small paper bowl and trying to dish out food with a flimsy plastic fork was a hassle. The food was good, not the best - but I certainly have had worse. The various dumplings and potstickers were bland, but the fried rice and General Tsao was good. The disappointment was the pan fried pork and the bao. I had read the reviews before going and saw that people loved this place and some had bad experience especially one who had raw pork. I'm being pregnant- I was rather cautious when we got here. Soup dumplings good and cooked though they didn't have spoons to eat them properly :/ but unfortunately our pan fried dumplings were definitely uncooked. However we were unfortunate to catch this until having two full ones thinking they were as cooked as the soup dumplings. The bao was pink but looked cooked ish though the server did say they were cooked. She agreed with us on the pan fried dumplings. They didn't charge us for the bao and dumpling but I had to write this review just so people can be cautious. Sorry for the bad review but this was not ok. :/ read more

We were super excited to try this place, but left feeling extremely disappointed. The dumplings were way too salty and overcooked and the noodles were so undercooked it seemed like it went straight from the package to my plate. The price ended up being about the same as other dumpling restaurants, but quality was nowhere near as good as DTF or even Dough Zone. read more

This family-run place is the best new part of Lake City Way! Delicious dumplings in different forms, friendly service, and reasonable prices. (Din Tai Fung is much pricier and this place does soup dumplings to rival theirs). There's a bit of a wait because the food is made to order, but to me that's not a bug, it's a feature. I can't believe I get such a great dumpling place right in my neighborhood! I think that the pork bun texture is really good and everything taste very clean, great, but definitely traditional and yummy. They have great indoor seating options, and the wait isn't too long. It took a long time for the food to come out and the xiao long bao came out cold to the point where the dumpling skin held its shape from being cooled down and some of them didn't even have soup inside them. They dont even pick up the phone call to order to go. Stood at the counter waiting even longer to order. 1hr total to get an order to go, doesnt seem reasonable. Not enough staff inside. Only 2 staff trying to cover the whole dining area. Had to scoop my own sauce off of one of the seated diner's tables. That was embarrassing. Food was typical. Ordered hand pulled noodles, spicy wontons and Mongolian beef. Flavor was decent. Too many negatives though. One of the containers were not closed so the bottom on the next container was directly touching the food. Noodles were overdone and not chewy. There was almost no sauce in the wontons. Haven't written a review in a while but Mount and Bao is worth it. Small place, so seating is limited. However, service is friendly. Got the hand pulled noodle with spicy sauce. Maybe the best north of Seattle! Chewy with just the right amount of bite and spice. Haven't had the soup dumping yet but that seems to be what everyone gets. I think their bottleneck is that they have the shifu is out front making these things by herself. I get that Din Tai Fung kinda popularized this but man... that ain't efficient for a small shop. They are still getting their operations in order so service is pretty slow right now. Probably shouldn't also take online orders when your dining room is full! But... food is great! read more

Ordered wonton soup and scallion pancake one weeknight when I was sad and forlorn about cooking. Wonton soup was excellent and I'm still thinking about it a week later. Scallion pancakes are my favorite and the layers on these were very very thin, almost like a croissant's layers, which I wasn't a fan of as much. Tasty flavor though and quick and easy delivery.
