Always great food and very efficient staff members. The long bows are deadly hot but they are absolutely one of the most delicious food you can eat. Shrimp, beef, chicken, or pork, they all absolutely slap, and I could down 10 baskets on my own. Good for a large group too. I've been there with 6 other people too and their service and quality of food does not drop. In fact, it's actually more fun because they simply don't stop bringing more long bows. I think the long lines and ridiculous wait times are a problem. I've never had a pleasant experience making reservation or putting yourself on the waitlist, simply because you have to wait in the queue for so long and they sometimes don't let you reserve days in advance. So make sure to do your homework before you do a normal walk in.

Visiting family in Seattle and they recommended having dinner at this place. This is my first time at Din Tai Fung. This is located inside Pacific Place Shopping Center. We were a large group, surprise the wait was not long. Love their famous signature soup dumplings and the chocolate and mochi xiao long bao, so flavorful. Glad they opened one in New York City which is the largest location in the world.
Din Tai Fung has delicious house-made dumplings and excellent service in a modern upscale atmosphere. There's not much more one can ask for from this downtown Seattle restaurant. Yes it's a chain and a growing one, but high quality is presently being maintained, at least at the two locations I've visited (the other in San Diego). I've also heard complaints that the menu is Americanized and lacks many true authentic Chinese or Taiwanese plates. Speaking as an American I'd have to say this is perhaps partly true. But darn, the Chocolate and Mochi XLB dumplings are so, so delicious.* And hey, in the end good food is good food. The only nit I have is that the soup dumplings were not served quite as hot as desired. When one carefully bites into that first wrapper the broth should be almost steaming. Reservations are highly recommended. *And I'm sure there are other places in town which serve pork rice, black pepper crab, etc. (I'm getting a bit off-subject here but what exactly IS "authentic Chinese or Taiwanese", anyway? There are dozens if not hundreds of regional cuisines in the countries.)
We had a fantastic experience at this downtown Seattle location. While Din Tai Fung is a chain and some critics find it overpriced, it absolutely held up to our experiences at the original Taipei flagship. The spacious, modern restaurant is super convenient to visit. Because they accept reservations, planning ahead is seamless. Even if you have to walk in, the location inside the mall offers great nearby backups like Haidilao Hot Pot. The service was excellent with incredibly fast food delivery, and the interior is beautiful and spacious. Every dish was fresh and delicious--we completely cleared our plates of soup dumplings (XLBs), garlic green beans, and beef noodle soup, and really enjoyed the fact that they serve cocktails. Best of all, the restaurant is highly kid-friendly and was a massive hit with our two young boys. We would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting downtown Seattle and will definitely be back.
I wish we had a Din Tai Fung in my city!! A fellow Yelp Elite recommend to check this incredible Taiwanese spot out. It was located in a mall downtown which made it feel like such a hidden gem. I hadn't had Taiwan's incredible beef soup in years and was so excited to see I could get it here. There was a bit of a wait to get a table for lunch, so we decided to get seated immediately at the bar. You must be 21+ to sit at the bar. They IDed us several times. The bartenders were really friendly and took our orders quickly. You mark on a sheet what you want to order and how many quantities of said item you would like. It's a huge space. We were there around the World Cup so they played the game on the screens. We ordered the braised beef noodle soup and the chili shrimp pork wontons. While the soup was good, I found I wanted a bit more from the broth. It wasn't as rich as I had hoped. However, the wontons were INCREDIBLE and the true star of the show. I'm drooling just thinking about them. Once you mixed them all in the oil the flavors were brilliant, the QQ of the wontons were perfection. You have to order the chili shrimp pork wontons! Next time I'm near a Din Tai Fung, I'm for sure ordering those and more dumplings.

We got a demonstration on how to prepare the xiao ling bao. The food was rather good. Wasn't a fan of the ambience. It's definitely not a place to bring a date or in any way a romantic place. The conversations from the bartenders and servers at the bar were a little loud.
Finally tried this famous place!! I was in Seattle solo and gave them a try for a weekend lunch. I signed up on their waitlist before leaving my hotel (17min walk) and by the time I got there it was already time for check in. My server was very nice, I did notice they placed all the South Asians on the second floor.. coincidence? The worst part of dining solo is you're limited in what you can try. I went with the three most famous items: chicken Xiao Long Bao, chicken spicy wontons and the cucumber salad. After tax and tip I paid just under $50 which for a lunch solo meal is on the expensive side. The spicy wontons were my favourite! The sauce was amazing! I wish the soup dumplings were larger and held more soup. But overall great experience to try it atleast once.

Din Tai Fung ALWAYS has ridiculously long wait times if you don't make a reservation so this review is *only* for takeout I was working at the mall for the FIFA watch parties so it was a matter of time before I grabbed myself some Din Tai Fung (located on the 4th floor). This mall is usually dead, but it was hustling and bustling the past few weeks because of the watch parties. I've been to the location at the mall in Santa Clara, CA, and the food has not failed to impress, but I only recently visited this one. Of course, since I didn't dine in, my experience was not exactly the same. I easily placed a takeout order online, and by the time I arrived at the pick up location, it was ready and packaged neatly in their gift-style takeout bag. The staff interactions were quick but friendly so not real complaints. Many people will say Din Tai Fung is overhyped, but I thoroughly would still recommend trying out their xiao long bao. It really depends on what you order here, but I haven't been disappointed with the food. I do think some of the prices are a bit high for the portioning though despite the good quality. At this location, I have only ordered their kurobuta pork xiao long bao, kurobuta pork buns, tofu puff & glass noodle soup, and the fried rice with kurobuta pork. They were all delicious, but I REALLY enjoyed the fried rice more than I expected (I just wish the portion was larger!). I think it's a good place for a date and maybe family outing, but the food was still enjoyable for takeout at home. If Seattle wasn't like 50+ miles from where I live in Washington, I would totally try and stop by sooner than later. If you haven't tried Din Tai Fung, give it a shot at least once!
Stopped here during our trip in seattle and it did not disappoint! The service was very quick and the staff were all super friendly. We showed up earlier than our reservation and were able to get a table which we super appreciated. We ordered the cucumber salad. It was good, but not as good as people have been saying. We also tried the garlic green beans, which definitely were as good as people have been saying! My partner got the xiao long bao, which he loved. As a pescetarian my only dumpling option were the vegan wontons, which were a bit chewy and lacked flavor. I would have appreciated an all shrimp dumpling, or event vegan filling with the non vegan wrap. We also had the spicy noodles, that we loved, and the chocolate dumplings which were divine! I would 100% go back for that dessert alone. The food was delicious and def worth a stop on our vacation!
for the hype, I think that this place is overrated and overpriced. The food is just OK. I definitely think you can find better soup dumplings elsewhere for much cheaper. Ambience is nice for big families or groups. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Saturday.
Standard Din Tai Fung experience, attentive service, good quality food. Nothing too extraordinary or crazy but the food and service is always as expected, no surprises in quality. Ambiance feels upscale and modern and they have TVs above the bar area as well.

Solid meal, but overhyped. Service was great, and the inside of the restaurant is super modern. This is on the top floor of the mall. There's a cool window where you can see the chefs preparing food as you wait to be seated. I think the food here was definitely a let down. There are better spots for this type of food for sure. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad; just not great read more
Came here by myself on a work trip because I don't have one in my city and it had been a while. Still just as popular and good as I remember. Come for the xiao long bao, and stay for everything else. This is on the top floor of a half dead mall. I think I saw more people waiting to eat here than in the rest of the mall combined. It's very loud inside and they've packed tables tightly, but it works and it's efficient to get people in and out quickly. Food started coming out in like 10 minutes. Service was friendly. Went to Din Tai Fung Pacific to catch up with a friend! It was fantastic. We ordered the cucumber salad and shrimp/pork dumplings. Cool atmosphere and pretty easy to find. Highly recommend adding yourself to the waitlist beforehand, as we were on the waitlist for 1.5 hrs on a week night. read more
Din Tai Fung is famous for its soup dumplings and Taiwanese cuisine. Each dumpling has 18 folds and precise 21-gram weight. The broth is made from a 12-hour bone broth process. It's soft, soupy and delicate. Taiwanese cabbage is ok. They use local cabbage. The texture is harder. The flavor is correct tho (garlicky). Black pepper beef tenderloin is sooooo good. Melt it in my mouth. I would definitely order it again. Another dish I want to give a shout out is pork chop fried rice. Very flavorful. Definitely bring me back to Taiwan. The service is excellent. Friendly and attentive. Modern and chic design. It's a very popular restaurant. Reservation is highly recommended. read more

Our group of six felt this was a 5 star food event. Make reservations before you go. We did call ahead on a Tuesday and arrived at 4:55 and waited 30 minutes which was typical. You can read other reviews for the details of specific dishes. You order off a menu marking down what your table wanted. This is an excellent place to share dishes. read more
This spot is right at the top of a shopping center in Seattle, very close to Pike Place and pretty easy to find. Expect a long line to put your name down, and again for a table to be open. If you're just one or two guests, there's a waiting line for bar seats, which is definitely faster. The servers give great recommendations and the food arrives fast and very hot and fresh. read more
Since this was a very popular location, made reservation weeks ahead to confirm our dinner spot. Upon arrival checked-in with the host who handed us the ordering menu. We were taken to our booth in few minutes. The interior of the restaurant was super nice, had a huge bar as well. We started with the cucumber salad and Wood ear mushroom appetizers, which were solid. Then we got the crab and pork Xiao Long Bao, absolutely delicious. They had think outer layer, good amount of soup inside and a decent filling. I ate about 5 of them. The specialty dish black pepper beef tenderloin was another fantastic dish made with tender beef and lots of flavorful sauce mixed with onions and papers. The pork fried rice had the perfectly cooked rice. For dessert we got the shaved ice with mango, such a yummy dish topped with huge chunks of mangoes. Multiple staff members were bringing food to our table and also cleaning out dishes. The service was fantastic overall. The dishes came in such quick time despite the restaurant being fully packed. This was my first time trying DTF in America, and I was thoroughly impressed with the food and service. read more

I went here with my mom while showing her the sights in Seattle. We went on a busy weekend night and had no issues getting a table after putting ourselves on the waitlist well in advance. The service moves very fast here, so even if it's busy, you'll likely be able to get a seat if you join the waitlist. The food was delicious! The soup dumplings were the standout, very yummy and filling. I also loved the pork dumplings which reminded me of similar dishes I had while in Korea. Nice and tangy with a nice spicy kick. Also, you HAVE to get the matcha jasmine latte if you like matcha. Absolutely fantastic blend of flavors. I would return just for that drink and the soup dumplings. The chocolate buns were pretty solid as a dessert, along with the sea salt foam that was also good. Inside it's pretty busy and chaotic, as it's a popular spot. But the servers work very hard to maintain a clean environment, always picking up trash and used dishes quickly from tables. The restaurant is on the fourth floor of a mall with mostly shuttered store fronts and restaurants. Like most of Seattle, the location is a little depressing, but it's definitely worth a stop here for dinner while visiting Seattle. read more
MASTERFUL .... Best way to describe this amazing food. Probably among the best Chinese food i ever had. -Pork Xiao Long Bao: wrapper encapsulated the fill and juice. Must follow instructions on how to eat properly. Awesome bite in every spoon. -Shrimp and Kurobuta Pork Spicy Wontons - was the show stopper. Dumpling was tasteful - sauce way elevated everything "DELICIOUS".... Keep the sauce for your other dishes... yummm...we added to our okay Shrimp Rice Cake and made it way better... -Dessert: Chocolate and Mochi Xiao Long Bao - pro tip i got from watching You Tube, gotta get a side of Sea Salt Cream "PERFECTION." -Verdict: the mod and i LOVE this place. Joining the Yelp waitlist is the way to go! It's pretty accurate on the time estimate. We got the crab and pork Xiao Long Bao. The skin is thin but not too brittle. I think it's better than other XLB in Seattle by a long shot. The fried rice was good & the pork chop was juicy. Their potstickers are honestly top tier. Their new mango shaved ice was so good. I also love their milk tea and will often order it for pick up. My only hot take is the cucumbers are overhyped. Portion is small & smashed cucumbers taste better than sliced. They taste good though. I live in Seattle, and it's expensive to eat out. I think it's worth going to this DTF because the food is consistently good & the service is great every time I visit. read more
I've had my fair share of dinners at Din Tai Fung, but our most recent visit to this location might've been the best so far. The service is fast, ambiance is lively, and Diana, our server, made the experience stand out. She walked us through the best way to enjoy their specialty items and checked on us frequently. The food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Out go-tos never disappoint: cucumber salad, crab & pork XLB, shrimp & pork spicy wontons, and to top it off, the chocolate XLB. read more
I've been to the one in Singapore and now here in Seattle, I can tell you for both locations, it's good comfort food. There in lies the problem. Comfort at these prices regardless of how well it's executed is still comfort food. The xia long bao is a hell of a creation - soup in a dumpling but the taste is not extraordinary. We also had the shrimp and pork pot stickers and pork chop fried rice. Both quality, both good. Arguably the string beans with garlic is the one that stood out - perfectly blanched crisp tasty greens. The best was dessert. The pairing of sea salt creme and chocolate/hazelnut(not mentioned but clearly there) mochi XLB that was sublime. The reason why I'm giving it four stars isn't because it's bad. I just don't think it's worth the hype. There are plenty of dim sum places that you can get better tasting food at lower prices. read more

Decided to try out Din Tai Fung for the first time here in Seattle I will say it comes with an extremely unique taste and flavor that is backed up by really good spices. The cucumber salad was super refreshing and honestly a really good appetizer to pick out every dish on here really compliments, a unique flavor of spice which I really enjoyed because you're able to try and mix everything together and it will still taste really good! Our server was really attentive to our needs and fulfilling water duties which we really appreciate. I would recommend din tai dung if you ever get a chance to is a very unique experience. read more
Really really impressed by this place, especially the service. Our server, JR, was very helpful, knowledgable, and made us comfortable. Other servers I saw helping folks next to us were equally great, instructing people to look at the QR code to see photos if they were new to the restaurant, etc. Even the hostesses were amazing at directing us to the bar area if we didn't want to wait, and wishing us a good day when we left. Everyone working there seemed happy to be there. The food is great and came out relatively quickly. The standout were the XLB, of course, but the wontons were also great, and so were the shao mai. We saved room for the chocolate XLB which did not disappoint. Ambiance is nice with high ceilings, a large bar area, and an upstairs. read more

Yes, though be sure to check if you need to put your name on a list. There is often a wait, although short, for the bar as well during busy times.
