The food was worth the wait. The restaurant has immaculate vibes as well, wish I could've dined in. Cucumber salad/wonton- AMAZING. Spicy noodles were good; protein could've been added on. A drink the girls recommended was also good. Julia was very attentive and took care of delivery orders in an orderly fashion. Very cute as well... Cameron took my order and she was lovely! Din Tai Fung ALWAYS has ridiculously long wait times if you don't make a reservation so this review is *only* for takeout I was working at the mall for the FIFA watch parties so it was a matter of time before I grabbed myself some Din Tai Fung (located on the 4th floor). This mall is usually dead, but it was hustling and bustling the past few weeks because of the watch parties. I've been to the location at the mall in Santa Clara, CA, and the food has not failed to impress, but I only recently visited this one. Of course, since I didn't dine in, my experience was not exactly the same. I easily placed a takeout order online, and by the time I arrived at the pick up location, it was ready and packaged neatly in their gift-style takeout bag. The staff interactions were quick but friendly so not real complaints. Many people will say Din Tai Fung is overhyped, but I thoroughly would still recommend trying out their xiao long bao. It really depends on what you order here, but I haven't been disappointed with the food. I do think some of the prices are a bit high for the portioning though despite the good quality. At this location, I have only ordered their kurobuta pork xiao long bao, kurobuta pork buns, tofu puff & glass noodle soup, and the fried rice with kurobuta pork. They were all delicious, but I REALLY enjoyed the fried rice more than I expected (I just wish the portion was larger!). I think it's a good place for a date and maybe family outing, but the food was still enjoyable for takeout at home. If Seattle wasn't like 50+ miles from where I live in Washington, I would totally try and stop by sooner than later. If you haven't tried Din Tai Fung, give it a shot at least once! read more

Stopped here during our trip in seattle and it did not disappoint! The service was very quick and the staff were all super friendly. We showed up earlier than our reservation and were able to get a table which we super appreciated. We ordered the cucumber salad. It was good, but not as good as people have been saying. We also tried the garlic green beans, which definitely were as good as people have been saying! My partner got the xiao long bao, which he loved. As a pescetarian my only dumpling option were the vegan wontons, which were a bit chewy and lacked flavor. I would have appreciated an all shrimp dumpling, or event vegan filling with the non vegan wrap. We also had the spicy noodles, that we loved, and the chocolate dumplings which were divine! This spot is right at the top of a shopping center in Seattle, very close to Pike Place and pretty easy to find. Expect a long line to put your name down, and again for a table to be open. They were promoting their newest dish right on the table which was the skirt steak with noodles and I honestly thought it was terrible. I won't be coming back. Din Tai Fung is famous for its soup dumplings and Taiwanese cuisine. Each dumpling has 18 folds and precise 21-gram weight. The broth is made from a 12-hour bone broth process. It's soft, soupy and delicate. Taiwanese cabbage is ok. They use local cabbage. The texture is harder. The flavor is correct tho (garlicky). Black pepper beef tenderloin is sooooo good. Melt it in my mouth. I would definitely order it again. Another dish I want to give a shout out is pork chop fried rice. Very flavorful. Definitely bring me back to Taiwan. The service is excellent. Since this was a very popular location, made reservation weeks ahead to confirm our dinner spot. Upon arrival checked-in with the host who handed us the ordering menu. We were taken to our booth in few minutes. The interior of the restaurant was super nice, had a huge bar as well. We started with the cucumber salad and Wood ear mushroom appetizers, which were solid. Then we got the crab and pork Xiao Long Bao, absolutely delicious. They had think outer layer, good amount of soup inside and a decent filling. I ate about 5 of them. The specialty dish black pepper beef tenderloin was another fantastic dish made with tender beef and lots of flavorful sauce mixed with onions and papers. The pork fried rice had the perfectly cooked rice. For dessert we got the shaved ice with mango, such a yummy dish topped with huge chunks of mangoes. Multiple staff members were bringing food to our table and also cleaning out dishes. The service was fantastic overall. The dishes came in such quick time despite the restaurant being fully packed. Joining the Yelp waitlist is the way to go! It's pretty accurate on the time estimate. We got the crab and pork Xiao Long Bao. The skin is thin but not too brittle. I think it's better than other XLB in Seattle by a long shot. The fried rice was good & the pork chop was juicy. Their potstickers are honestly top tier. Their new mango shaved ice was so good. I also love their milk tea and will often order it for pick up. My only hot take is the cucumbers are overhyped. Portion is small & smashed cucumbers taste better than sliced. They taste good though. I went here with my mom while showing her the sights in Seattle. We went on a busy weekend night and had no issues getting a table after putting ourselves on the waitlist well in advance. The service moves very fast here, so even if it's busy, you'll likely be able to get a seat if you join the waitlist. The food was delicious! The soup dumplings were the standout, very yummy and filling. I also loved the pork dumplings which reminded me of similar dishes I had while in Korea. Nice and tangy with a nice spicy kick. Also, you HAVE to get the matcha jasmine latte if you like matcha. Absolutely fantastic blend of flavors. I would return just for that drink and the soup dumplings. The chocolate buns were pretty solid as a dessert, along with the sea salt foam that was also good. Inside it's pretty busy and chaotic, as it's a popular spot. But the servers work very hard to maintain a clean environment, always picking up trash and used dishes quickly from tables. The restaurant is on the fourth floor of a mall with mostly shuttered store fronts and restaurants. Like most of Seattle, the location is a little depressing, but it's definitely worth a stop here for dinner while visiting Seattle. read more

There were a few fewer choices of dumplings than I was hoping for, but will keep in mind. I've been to the one in Singapore and now here in Seattle, I can tell you for both locations, it's good comfort food. There in lies the problem. Comfort at these prices regardless of how well it's executed is still comfort food. The xia long bao is a hell of a creation - soup in a dumpling but the taste is not extraordinary. We also had the shrimp and pork pot stickers and pork chop fried rice. Both quality, both good. Arguably the string beans with garlic is the one that stood out - perfectly blanched crisp tasty greens. The best was dessert. The pairing of sea salt creme and chocolate/hazelnut(not mentioned but clearly there) mochi XLB that was sublime. The reason why I'm giving it four stars isn't because it's bad. I just don't think it's worth the hype. There are plenty of dim sum places that you can get better tasting food at lower prices. read more

Really really impressed by this place, especially the service. Our server, JR, was very helpful, knowledgable, and made us comfortable. Other servers I saw helping folks next to us were equally great, instructing people to look at the QR code to see photos if they were new to the restaurant, etc. Even the hostesses were amazing at directing us to the bar area if we didn't want to wait, and wishing us a good day when we left. Everyone working there seemed happy to be there. The food is great and came out relatively quickly. The standout were the XLB, of course, but the wontons were also great, and so were the shao mai. The Kurobuta pork filling was definitely juicy; however the flavor profile of the soup itself was lacking in depth. The truffle and Kurobuta pork xlb packs a major truffle flavor bomb. So much so that you might think there's only truffle in it. The crab and Kurobuta pork xlb was more evenly flavored in my opinion. It even had a taste of dried and stir-fried scallop/seafood flavor. I appreciated that the Bok choy was bright green and was still crunchy in the stem. Although, it was missing the scallion flavor until we got closer to the bottom of the plate. I think blooming more scallion with a handful of minced garlic would have added more to the flavor profile. Overall, setting and staff were on point. The food was definitely more hyped up but still delicious. Glad to have been able to check this off my food bucket list. read more

I love Din Tai Fung. They have Taiwanese food and service dialed in and operate like a well oiled machine. Their menu and service is always great, whether I'm in downtown Seattle or near University of Washington or even NYC. You'll need to make a reservation, trust me. You'll be dining in a causal unpretentious but upscale environment. For most recent trip, I had the Cucumber Salad (this is a must), Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Spicy Wontons, broccoli with garlic, and the Shredded Kurobuta Pork Fried Noodles. Moreover, I washed this all down with the Yuzu Margarita, which was fantastic. Our waitress was sharp, friendly, quick, and I'll always eat at Din Tai Fung when in town. read more

Ambiance - located on the upper floor of a four-story shopping center/mall that was pretty vacant and quiet. The restaurant itself was very clean and organized which was impressive as it was slammed! I sat at the full service bar and was able to get a stool instantly... but a wait for even those developed right after I was seated. Overall the ambiance was a bit "chainy" for my tastes... but the quality of the service and food definitely made up for it! Service - super responsive, friendly, courteous, and professional! Asked for recommendations and was given a thorough run down of the best offerings. Food - ordered the Crab & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao and the Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Spicy Wontons. Both were done to perfection! The chili oil sauce for the wontons was so good I ended up dipping the Xio Long Bao in it too...yum!! by far THE BEST FOOD WE HAD IN SEATTLE. actually felt like one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The hype is so well deserved. Had a reservation for 6:15 PM on a Sunday evening and got seated right away. The service was very kind and when they knew we were tourists they gave us recommendations of things to do that actually seemed up our alley. It's a little noisy inside and hard to hear each other sometimes. We ordered the cucumber salad. It seems basic just being a cucumber salad but oh my god did I stand corrected. It is so good and so refreshing and the crunch is so satisfying. The chicken fried noodles were also good. I loved the veggies in it especially. I did what our server recommended with making a sauce for our xiao long bao. The sauce was ginger, vinegar, and soy sauce. The chicken xiao long bao was the BEST THING WE HAD HERE. Im not a huge soup dumpling fan but these hit different. So so so good. And paired so nicely with the sauce. We finsihed off dessert with the chocolate xiao long bao which was also so creamy and delightful. Just loved every bit of the food. I don't live in a city that has Din Tai Fung so I will cherish this experience so much and hope that SLC gets a location one day. read more

To be honest I was a little disappointed after hearing all of the hype about this place. The food was overall pretty delicious, service was excellent but for the price not the best value. Definitely would recommend any of the Xio Long Bao that they are famous for (and making the whole time in the window) especially the desert ones such as sesame and mochi which were fantastic. The shrimp fried rice, pork sticky rice and soy noodle salad were also delicious. Some of the noodle dishes such as noodles with pork or noodles with spicy sauce were forgettable. read more

I am sad that I was by myself because there were at least 3 other dishes I wanted to try but I didn't have my husband with me to split them! The cucumber salad was so flavorful. I wish I knew how to make them at home like this. Of course, I had to try the pork xiao long bao and they did not disappoint. I prefer not to pierce the skin to let the soup out. I add my vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, and chili paste mixture to the soup spoon, plop a xiou long bao on top and slurp it all down at once. I saw the sticky rice shao mai on social media and had to try it. I love the chewy texture of them! I love sticky rice on its own and it was really good in this form too. For me, the absolute star of the show were the string beans with garlic. I cannot stop thinking about them. They were the best green beans I've ever had. Ever. EVER. They are crispy green beans slathered in this garlicky umami sauce and I would eat them every day of my life if I could. I couldn't eat it all. The leftovers are calling to me in my hotel mini-fridge and I'm still mad I didn't have room to try the spicy wontons, the Taiwanese cabbage, or the noodles with sesame sauce.
