We ordered 3 dishes and all were really good. The highlight: crab curry It had large pieces of crab meat and plenty of it. It was also topped with 1/2 a small piece of crispy soft crab. I wish it was a full soft crab on top (just that good) Runner up- lunch special kee mao. Comes with fried chicken wings for $19 (cheaper than most items on the menu). It's on the sweeter side of any pad kee mao I had but still good The massama duck is in a sweet curry sauce. You have to like sweet curry to enjoy it. For me, I would skip and try another item next time. read more

The Baerng Golae is like a Thai taco, coconut crisp over grilled shrimp smothered in this amazing yellow curry. Lumpu Salad: best salad ever! The sauce is amazing and the greens are great. Tom Sompla is a delicious soup, and Wok of Greens are a must - you always need a good veg. Sator Goong has stinky beans! Hard to find, spicy and delicious. The Goat Curry is so deeply flavorful, and it's served with a side of the best roti. Khao Pad Mun Goong is the first fried rice worth ordering. Superb Southern Thai food with creative takes on old standards and offerings you don't often see on Thai restaurant menus. Presentation and service was first rate. The Kee Mao Seafood had generous amounts of squid and correctly cooked shrimp that was not rubbery. Two of three stars still brought some heat. The dishes are the heat they offer with no modifications permitted. The chicken wings are small wings but we were loving them as they were crispy but not greasy and were on the house as we came for a very late lunch. The Phuket Pak Mor steamed dumplings were small but packed a punch with the salted coconut dressing. The two of us were split on whether those were good or great. Sad I didn't write down the drink combo as it was a special and doesn't appear on menus I can find. We ordered purely off of the photo menu since they seemed like the hottest menu items. - Pad thai southern style: I'm usually not a fan of pad thai but this one changed my mind. Sauce was creamy and the baby soybean sprouts were a nice touch. - Crab curry: very strong flavor and pretty spicy. Was super good at first but we had a hard time finishing as it was very rich. Recommend trying it though. - Baerng Golae: my favorite dish of the meal! Flavoring of the shrimp is great, creative with the sweet wafer shell. - Mango sticky rice: not as good as ones I've had in Thailand probably the best I've had in USA. Thai delight! Menu offers a great mix of food and drinks. The inside is nice and spacious with a modern look. My Cha-chak drink had fun flair with the Roti Bread on top. Excellent selection and execution of southern Thai cuisine. I'm familiar with the general cuisine and specialties of the north and northeast. The offerings is a nice introduction to the southern dishes and flavors. For a party of 2, we tried the Baerng Golae (shrimp and curry in a coconut taco) (we doubled this order because it's that good), Yum Som-O (pomelo salad with bits of fried fish), Lumpu Salad (scallops with fried shallots), and Phuket Pak Mor (steamed rice dumplings filled with sweet radish and peanuts) to start. For the mains, we got the Pla Tod (deep fried fish) and the Mee Pum Riang (Southern Style Pad Thai). Personally, while I enjoyed these with my friend who has dietary preferences, I would go back and try the other unique dishes. My friend and I came here for dinner about a month ago and it didn't disappoint. It's not a huge space and you will most likely need a reservation (especially for a weekend), but it's worth it. For food, we ordered the peanut spring rolls which were pretty tasty. For entrees, we shared everything and ordered the sea bass, the wok greens, and the pad Thai. I liked the fish and the greens a lot, but the pad Thai had a lack of flavor to me. As for drinks, we ordered the after school and a Thai iced tea and both were very good. The service was good, but since they were so crowded, it felt very rushed at times. I don't know that I'd come running back here again. read more

We ordered: Cocktails- Leonardo on The Beach (Krabi) The Pirate of Tarutao (Satoon) Food- Platod Kee Mao Seafood I love that their cocktails menu has the corresponding image with the drink so there aren't any surprises / you know what to expect. The Pirate of Tarutao came in a cute barrel cup and the inside of the drink reminded me of a moscow mule (in the best way, of course!). The platod dish was everything I had never had before-a sweet soy glaze sauce on top of a mildly fried fish. The kee mao was a bit spicy, but had a tinge of sweetness. The service and quality of food are chef's kiss and it's safe to say, this is definitely part of my Thai rotation. Baerng Golae (coconut crisp grilled shrimp and famous curry paste from southern Thailand): still mouthwatering. Seafood Platod (deboned fried whole fish, sweet fish sauce, fried garlic and julienne scallion): still a great large dish to share. The branzino is not dry and the sauce is delicious. If you're writing that Chalong is "another good NYC Thai place" you should have your Yelp reviewer credentials revoked. Chalong is probably the most exciting restaurant I've encountered this year. Potato appetizer better than any Indian preparation. The goat here makes Dhamaka's seem ordinary. The Pad Thai was like nothing I'd ever had. The pork belly was a work of art like in the royal palace in Taipei. We ate every grain and morsel presented to us. Services was extremely fast, seating was uncomfortable. The ambience during lunchtime was nice because it wasn't too packed and our seat by the window was perfect for people watching. The staff is extremely attentive and made sure that our meal and experience was spectacular from the beginning to the end. We ordered the scallop salad, which was hands down one of the best dishes. It was tangy, spicy, crunchy, and the scallops were fresh. Put that all together and it was everything you want in a well balanced bite! Was really excited for this spot as there were more reservation slots open than Fish Cheeks which I've been wanting to go to (next time I guess)! This is a thai place in Hell's Kitchen just a block away from many of the broadway theaters, so was the perfect spot to hit up before seeing Wicked. It's super packed, like only a few inches between tables, and kinda loud inside so perhaps not the best ambiance, but the decor was decent. The duck confit massaman curry was absolutely delicious. The duck was nice and crispy despite sitting in the curry, and had more meat than it looked. The curry had an intense yet tasty flavor, and the potatoes and radishes were nice. The rice was a perfect accompaniment and had a nice texture. The small plum onion was pickled just a tad much than I liked but was an interesting addition to the dish. The steamed fish (Chilean sea bass filet) was a super small portion size for $35 but the sauce it was in was delightfully nuanced, with a complex citrus based flavor. I'd recommend ordering an appetizer to beef up your fullness level here. They didn't have a physical dessert menu, but verbally told us about the homemade thai tea ice cream with wonton crisps and brown sugar boba which sounded good. Little did we know it turned out to be $16 at least the ice cream was tasty. It definitely tasted like the ice cream version of a very good thai iced tea, and the wonton crisps were nice and crunchy. I took a new employee of mine out for dinner and he suggested this place. I love Thai food, and I am a little picky about it. We showed up right on time for our reservation at 6 PM. The restaurant was FULL. We were told that there would be a short wait of approximately 15 minutes. We were sat within 10 minutes so that worked out well. I would definitely make reservations here. People that were trying to walk in were told the wait was 90 minutes. The ambiance was good. The place was decorated nicely, but the tables were packed a bit close together for me. There is a small bar as well that was also full. There is also a small outside patio with a few tables so you can take in the local color if you desire. Our server was great. She recommended a variety of items to try. I started with the Cha-Chak cocktail which was small but well made. The cocktail list was pretty extensive so you should be able to find something that you will enjoy. The Lumpu (scallop) salad appetizer was delicious. My guest had the goat curry for an entree and I had the Tom Som Pia which was sea bass in an amazing lime flavored broth with vegetables. It is mildly spicy so be careful. I got the Green Brisket Curry and it was very flavorful with a good portion of brisket (took home leftovers). My friend of the Chicken See Lew and the noodles had a great texture.
