We came to Mountain Oaks Cafe over Labor Day while staying in a cabin at Bass Lake with our family, and it was really good! There are plenty of options, and the portions are huge. My husband and I split the chili cheese omelet, which was amazing, and it also came with pancakes on the side. We opted for fruit instead of the potatoes, and there was still more than enough food for both of us. The smiley pancake was a big hit with my son, and the kids' ham and cheese omelet was also delicious. Just a heads-up, the portions are very generous. My kids rarely finish an entire plate anyway, so we definitely had leftovers. If your kids are lighter eaters or willing to share, splitting a kids' meal might even be enough. Definitely recommend Mountain Oaks Cafe if you're in the Bass Lake area. Great portions, lots of choices, and really good food!

Let's start with the food. The menu has a little bit of everything. I kept things simple and had an omelette with a side of fruit and pancakes. My fiancé had the crab cake Benedict which he also said tasted great. Portions were just right and the food came out rather quickly, especially for being a busy Sunday morning. Service was excellent. We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress stayed on top of things providing menu recommendations and keeping cups and coffee mugs filled. Service was fast but not in a way that felt rushed. A great stop if you are looking for something outside of the park!

Really solid, classic American (with South of the Border specials) breakfast spot. A reservation is highly recommended on the weekends, our group of 8 made an 11:00 AM reservation on a Sunday and still waited around 15 minutes after. The food came out really fast and the portions were huge. I really enjoyed my corned beef hash and the biscuit was soooo good! It was a very filling meal after a weekend of camping at Bass Lake, I'd come back for lunch if I were to return to the area!

This is definitely the best spot in town. Friendly service, delicious food. Skip the other places, there's something for everyone here! The Santa Fe rolls were my favorite- it was like a cheesy tortilla soup in a roll. Definitely would return

We stopped here for an afternoon snack on our way to Yosemite. Ordered a tri-tip sandwich with sweet potato fries that was really delicious. There was a generous amount of meat that was well cooked in sandwich and the bun was nicely toasted. We came back the next day for dinner because we really enjoyed the sandwich, and this time we tried the tri tip dinner instead. Comparing the two - I actually enjoyed the sandwich more because the dinner tri tip was a bit drier. The pro is that the dinner comes with vegetables, garlic bread, and soup. Overall we enjoyed our meals here, and the service was great!

Stopped her for brunch with girlfriends after camping at Bass Lake. We figured it would be hit or miss and it was for sure a hit! Was welcomed and seated right away on the patio where the weather was great. I decided to order something different and got the sausage biscuit with egg and gravy. I told waitresses light gravy. It was brought out with gravy on the side, perfect. I was able to take it home and not be soggy. Waitress was awesome along with the older gentleman refilling coffee and water! Great place

What an amazing find while we are staying in Mariposa. We went to the Giant Sequoia's and on our way we stopped at this "pre" planned Yelp spot. Parking is pretty easy. They have overflow towards the left when you drive up the incline. You wait to be seated. We were offered an inside table but requested a patio table instead. They accommodated us but it took an additional 10-15 minutes. It was WORTH the wait. The patio is nicely shaded and offers a better experience than say..... Denny's. I ordered their "fantastic" chicken fried steak, 2 eggs over easy, 2 pancakes, and country potatoes. Everything was great! Our server was an awesom dude. You will know it's him when he addresses you as "Amigo." Love you man! Coffee was good and strong and they offered shelf stable 1/2 & 1/2. They have Tobasco, Cholulu, and I believe he said Tapatio. I went with the Cholulu and it was an awesome addition to the CFS. We loved this place. It fueled us up for the grueling hike we did. 5* !!!!! So glad I scoped this place out on Yelp before our trip.

Decided to visit Mountain Oaks Cafe for a steak dinner while in Oakhurst. I've been to this location several times before when in the Oakhurst/Yosemite area. It was quite busy but was able to be seated immediately. Clean inside and plenty of dining tables with cool wall decors. For this visit, ordered the following: ***Buffalo wings for appetizers 4/5 ***12 ounce ribeye medium rare with baked potato and veges $32. Also served with garlic bread 4/5 ***For dessert, got a red velvet cheesecake 5/5 Got a lemonade for a drink. All the items were delicous! The ribeye cooked medium rare as requested was super tender. A1 Steakhouse was available at the table. The red velvet cheesecake was really yummy too! Sooo good! Staff are courteous and very accommodating. Will be back again when in the area.

They are very attentive. They know their food menu. Very cozy and homey with the breakfast you like upon getting ready for the day.

Lemme start by saying - I found my new favorite salad here. It's covered in tri tip and onion rings. Highly recommend the black and blue tri tip salad. Ok now that that's over with - had a great time here. The burritos were excellent and the servers were quick and friendly. The kids pancakes are super cute! Bright and clean. Took my parents, the handicap parking is well placed and close to the front door. Lots of TVs - the Dodger game was on, which was a plus for us. And if you like soccer, they had that on too. My dad did comment that the chili verde senior meal could've used more meat. Besides that it was excellent.

Stayed super close to this place on a recent Yosemite trip and tried it out for dinner. We each ordered a pasta which came with a side of soup or salad. I tried the shrimp Alfredo over fettuccine with a side salad. My boyfriend, I believe tried their steak and shrimp pasta, but I can't remember what sauce he got. We both loved our plates and would definitely go back. Everything was well priced, and there is plenty of parking. We were seated immediately, and the service was also very good.

WTF IS THIS IN MY FRIES

Well, I was certainly mislead by this restaurant's good reviews. After I walked in I was promptly greeted. The waiter asked if I wanted a coke or iced tea, I ordered iced tea as I didn't have a chance to peruse the menu before he arrived. After, I saw a menu with the drinks I had an in pictures online, so I ordered a margarita. I got the iced tea, it was pretty good. Then the margarita came. Looked nothing like the menu, and tasted EXACTLY like a margarita tastes without ANY tequila in it. I asked a waitress if the margaritas come with tequila, she said "Oh does it taste like no tequila is in there? I can bring you a shot" and she then brought me a shot of tequila. She didn't seem surprised, does this happen often here? After I got my food, (I ordered the bacon abs blue cheese burger) I noticed something strange in my fries... I asked my waiter what it was and he said he didn't have his glasses and couldn't tell. He tried to walk away and said "Maybe she can tell then?" The waitress said "hmm, I guess it's part of the batter?" Gross. At the end of it all, they didn't make me confident they knew what it was, no attempt to better the situation. The waiters just didn't care. I highly recommend skipping this place. I wont ever return if I'm in town again. I'd rather go to the 41 BBQ spot.

I was staying in Ahwahnee on a girls trip and we wanted a cute brunch place. The town is small so there weren't a lot of options but we found this place with a nice view, margs, and brunch all day. We decided to come here and were super excited to get out into the town. We were seated immediately for a group of 9 outside. The server was very nice and our food came out quicky. I really enjoyed getting my cinnamon roll and side of hash browns they were delicious. Everyone also really enjoyed their food and there were no leftovers! I would highly recommend trying this place out if you're ever in town. It's a quaint diner and has amazing food options!

All of the staff went above and beyond to be super friendly and inviting. It felt like my husband and I were regulars the way the wait staff treated us. You could tell they treat every customer as if they're the only person in the winery, despite it being full. Every question we had was met with patience as they guided us on the best food and wine pairing. They also are super accommodating to pets, and were able to enjoy a nice meal with our pup. The food was all fresh and delicious. Everything tasted like it was made from the heart. My husband got the angel hair pasta with chicken, a favorite of his, and it did not disappoint! I got the brown butter sage gnocchi, made with fresh sage from their garden. We also enjoyed the meze board. My husband who does not like falafel was fighting with me for the last piece. For dessert I ate the rosemary shortbread with lemon curd. Just like with the sage the rosemary was also freshly picked from their garden. The shortbread was not too dry but also the perfect ratio of crispy on the outside and slightly moist on the inside - the exact way shortbread should be baked. I normally am picky with lemon desserts, but their lemon curd was also perfect - not too sweet and not too sour while still maintaining that fresh flavor. My biggest regret of our visit is not booking a room at their inn. We spent a couple of hours here and immediately felt right at home. I hope to come back one day for the full inn experience.

Service was decent, and the ambiance was nice, but overall the experience was just okay. The Peruvian pretzel was actually pretty darn good and probably one of the highlights of the meal. The biggest disappointment, and the main reason I'm giving three stars, was the oysters. If I could rate the oysters separately, I would give them zero stars. They were probably some of the worst-tasting oysters I've ever had. They tasted extremely fishy and did not seem fresh at all. We ordered a dozen and definitely regretted ordering that many. The dipping sauce that came with them was very good, but for the price this restaurant charges, the oysters should absolutely taste fresh. I also would not recommend the mac and cheese. It looked more like something that came out of a box than freshly made restaurant mac and cheese. If you're ordering for kids, I'd probably choose the pasta with tomato sauce instead. There were some good things about the meal, especially the pretzel and the atmosphere, but between the oysters, the mac and cheese, the long wait for food, and the prices, three stars feels fair.

While walking in, I thought to myself "it's gorgeous, why didn't we stay here again?" and then remembered because all of their low ratings as a hotel are due to poor service. The receptionist at the entrance is very bleh (didn't even greet us, she just looked at us so we said hello first ). We sat down and ordered. We were the only customers. The girl who took our order was nice enough but lacked professionalism. She just seemed out of it. She didn't write down our order, but a few minutes later came back saying "wait what did you for your entree again?". I'm glad she double checked, but for the price of the food and aesthetic of the restaurant, I expected better service. I ordered the wagyu burger but wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked - I assume they only cook it well-done because that's how it came. It didn't have the juicy buttery flavor of Wagyu, or really any flavor at all. The bread was good. The fries are phenomenal and I liked that more than my burger Carrots & whipped ricotta was good but not great - very flat flavor profile of ricotta, honey, and carrots. I think this dish could've been better with some acidity like a bit of lemon on the side. The chicken pesto penne pasta was good, but still flat. It would be better with cherry tomatoes or something to give it depth. The pasta was cooked perfectly Despite the chicken being absolutely tiny (approx 4"), it was juicy. Wish there was more of it I didn't care for the butternut squash soup but my husband liked it. It had good flavor but was very thin. Overall the place is pretty, but I wouldn't return as the food was very forgettable. It's a shame that the best thing was the side of fries. I'm giving a 4 due to the food tasting clean/quality.

They were both super knowledgeable and made us feel extremely welcome. They even had a special printed menu for our table with a birthday message that made it that more special. They truly exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this place to everyone and I will be back any chance I get. One last thing....the Oyster with a fennel, apple, vinegar idk what changed my life. I am an oyster fan now, but just these lol TYSM!

I have been lucky enough to enjoy quite a few fancy, Michelin-starred meals over the years, but it…read moreis rare to find an experience that you just know you will be savoring for years to come. That is exactly what happened during my recent dinner at Elderberry House. I visited with a group of four, and between us, we had two gluten-free diners and one vegetarian. After a quick heads-up the day before, the restaurant handled our needs with total ease. We went for the five-course tasting menu, and it was incredible from start to finish. We kicked things off with one of the best oysters I have ever had, followed by a beautiful tuna presentation. The kitchen even looked out for our gluten-free friends with a special version of their herbal-butter focaccia that was actually delicious. By the time the main courses arrived, I honestly could not decide if I liked my beef or my friend's snap pea risotto better; every single bite was pure perfection. The cocktails were another high point. My first drink was great, but after chatting with our server, Jordan, I decided to try the Last Word. It featured that hard-to-find green chartreuse, and I am a little annoyed to report that I have a new favorite cocktail that requires such a rare ingredient. The service is what really made the night so special. Jordan was so charismatic and helpful, making sure we were perfectly taken care of all evening. He was so good that I almost worried a second visit would not be the same without him, though the rest of the staff quickly put that fear to rest. Abby was so friendly and responsible for a truly unique but perfect-for-the-vibe playlist, and Chris the mixologist even stopped by to geek out about gin and cocktails with us. From the genuine care for our food sensitivities to the clever touch of the iPad check-in hidden in an elegant binder, it was a night for the books. I cannot recommend this place enough and look forward to bringing my family next!
