Mountain Town Station recently catered our 50th Wedding Anniversary Party. Eric Bliss was very easy to work with and accommodating to our needs. We did not want the usual food items you see on buffets and we were pleased with the selection and variety of items to choose from. The food was delicious, we had many positive comments from our guests about the food. They did the setup and provided all plates, silverware and cloth napkins. Good, fresh food, decent atmosphere, excellent service if Joe is typical of the entire staff. I was stranded in MP due to an ice storm and had a lot of work to do. I camped in Joes section and he was completely patient and okay with it - something I myself was not as a server. I stopped here on a road trip, looking for a brewery to try out and also get some dinner. It happened to be graduation weekend, so it was a little packed, but we did not have to wait long for a table, being a party of 2. We did a sampler of the beers. I honestly don't remember any stand-out brews. Everything was just okay. The food was decent pub food, but nothing special. The service was just so-so as well. We have always looked forward to dining in this restaurant when visiting Mount Pleasant. This time we were greatly disappointed! Not sure what has happened to the kitchen staff. Our food was not tasty and was barely warm. The worst part of the restaurant was the horrible sewer stench in the women's restroom!!! Toxic sewer fumes does not make your stomach sit easy. Not a cheap restaurant to have these issues. I hope they get this fixed. read more

We give it a C-. The NY steak on the special menu was low quality, came out barely warm, the side salad ($2.99) was lame and should have been included. No bread sticks included. My pesto pasta with shrimp had low end tiny shrimp. Their house IPA was graded a D. Nice ambiance, but that's about the best we can say. Overall, this place has kitchen issues. read more

I'm truly stumped about the poor reviews for Mountain Town Station. I've been more times that I can count. Several things are always consistent --ribs and brisket are delicious, house salad with maple dressing is awesome (I get it with steak strips and it's great) and the wait staff is superb. We like most of the things on the menu (shrimp linguini--yum!) It is loud, so don't go for a quiet dinner. (But do check out their outdoor garden dinners in the summertime, or eat outside with a nice view of the park.) If you want good food in a fun atmosphere, with great service, you'll love this place! read more

We did not have a great dining experience here. The wait time to get a table was ridiculous. The ribs were substandard, small for a half slab and not the greatest flavor. Prime rib was ordered medium and came medium rare. Sent it back and it took forever they to re-cook it. When it finally came back, all other parties at table had finished eating, it was browned a bit, but still rare in middle. Fuck it I am hungry! The only good meal was the chicken Alfredo, probably the best we've ever had. Kudos on that, and the stout was tasty as well. Other than that for the price l would avoid it. Not the best for Mt Pleasant, but then again it is Mt Pleasant. read more

Service is okay, not exceptional because I never actually particularly noticed any servers. The great thing about this place (besides that it's non-smoking as of recently) is the seafood. The fish and the seafood alfredo are always amazing choices. The brewed beer is also fantastic. The raspberry wheat is always my first choice, but there are other outstanding selections. If you are a wine coinoisseur then this is a great choice for you! The atmosphere is always a little loud around dinnertime, but it is always pleasant. During the summer, it is a treat to sit outside on the patio, which overlooks the park. Enjoy! read more

The food was good but not plentiful. A good portion of our party left hungry. The entrees come with one side. If you order shrimp and a salad, you will leave hungry. Some dishes are more plentiful, like the pasta. Given the price of potatoes and rice, it seems like adding a choice of a starch wouldn't cost the restaurant much and would make the restaurant's portions more generous. Two sides is standard. I ate here for a friends birthday. His mother and aunt came in to town to treat him and a few friends to a meal. Awesome! who can complain about that right? I ordered a burger, mid rare. When it came out it was gray all the way through. Incredibly dry and obviously pre-formed then frozen. Its quite easy to tell (visually) if a burger patty has been frozen. If you hand form a fresh patty of ground meat, the sides will be rounded, maybe even partially crumbling. When the edge of your burger has a 90 degree angle, that's been frozen. For a while. Even as a free burger, I wouldn't eat it again. Ive eaten at this restaurant three times now and this was my BEST experience with the food. This place lives only off its reputation and half-functioning brewery. Not a place for good food. read more

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I had the Prime rib with lobster tail which was cooked to perfection. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. I also had the Steam Engine Stout which was a flavorful adventure. Very strong dark stout with and awesome coffee/chocolate after taste. Our waitress was Jenna and she was superb. Very attentive, quick to check on us and bring anything we needed and out of this world friendly. Our party of eight drove up from Lansing to see a show at Soaring Eagle Casino to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. I was looking for something unique (not a chain restaurant) with good food and atmosphere. Mountain Town really met our expectations. Our server, Mike, did a great job of taking care of us. Our drinks stayed full and the food was timed perfectly. I would have rated the experience a 5 based on the service, atmosphere and food, but two people in our party thought the food was just good, not great. The boxcar sampler was good (the scotch eggs were a hit), and the Asiago Chicken Rotini was really good. The BBQ beef brisket was just OK. The Special K drink was also a hit as was the micro brews. We had a great time at my sister in laws wedding reception. We had a good size party, maybe 20 or so. The staff was very attentive and met our every need. Mountain town is by far the best restaurant in mount pleasant. Their fried pickles, poutine, and nachos are all so good for appetizers. Their portions are just the right size to share with a couple other people (or to eat by yourself for a meal). I also love starting off with their mushroom bisque. It's creamy, delicious, and full of flavor! It's the perfect comfort food after watching a game in the fall! Their vodka pasta is delicious as well. My brother always gets a steak (he picks the biggest one they have) and it's always cooked perfectly. I've never tried their beers, but I have heard great things about them. I will definitely miss mountain town when I graduate! read more

Loved it!! Our group had an awesome waitress that was very friendly and tentative to our table. So great service! They were reasonably priced and the food was fantastic! Their portions were very generous and well worth the money. The French-Onion Quesadilla was our group favorite! We also tried a couple of their home-brews and their were wonderful and smooth. I went here as part of an office group. I like the atmosphere. Not too loud, but it says fun. We all liked our food and beer. I had scottish eggs which were pretty good, and coconut shrimp was also delicious. I had a herb pecan crusted walleye, which did not taste anything like seafood. I like to try the local brew when visiting a new town. Mountain Town Station looks to be that option in Mt. Pleasant. I took a seat at the bar and was served promptly. Tried the Raspberry Wheat, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for-the Iron Horse IPA was what I settled on, and it's a solid beer. Nice sit down place had a lot to choose for drinks. I got the bbq nachos and there ribs both where good. Good price for the food and they said there meat where from local butcher.(which i think is a added plus) This place is nice for lunch or dinner and if you just want to stop in for a drink. HORRIBLE SERVICE! I had arranged to take 2 customers for a nice dinner, BIG MISTAKE. 4 servers were in our area, the restaurant was half full at best, and it was 12 minutes before anyone bothered to stop and take our drink order. We had to ask for refills as the glasses sat empty from that point. Every table around us was empty with dirty dishes on them, no one, not even the servers bothered to clean them off as they walked by. These tables remained the same way during the duration of our stay. The food was cold, and bland. Don't waste your time. read more

Just be warned: sushi Wednesday is a bad idea. I love sushi and was hoping to find a good sushi place. Let's just say, this is not it. I recognize that they only serve it once a week as a special, but jeez this was bad. The seaweed was so chewy, the tempura shrimp was disgustingly salty and the rice was not cooked well at all. Went there not overly hungry ordered a brisket sandwich with the BBQ sauce on the side. Service was good and quick, the the sandwich reminded me of crock pot pot roast and it was over done and dry. For the price it should have been spot on. One bonus is my wife said the chicken special was good. read more

I really want this place to be better than it is; the location and atmosphere are adorable and it's one of the few non-chain restaurants in this area. The service is uniformly crappy - the wait staff acts harried and hurried even if you're the only one in the place. If you're NOT the only one in the place, expect to be here for two or two and a half hours for dinner excluding waiting time. The food is spotty; if you find a dish that's delicious once, the same thing will be clearly half-assed at another visit. Stick to the burgers and sandwiches; everything else is terribly overpriced since it's food-service kind of stuff. read more

For my husband's birthday, his sister got him $30 worth of gift certificates to Mountain Town Station. I saw that tonight was $2 pint night so we decided to try it out. Good atmosphere with friendly staff. We were seated in a booth in the dining area. I got the Raspberry Wheat beer and it was very good. It tasted like it would be good for dessert too. My husband had 2 different beers and he enjoyed both (the names escape me). I got the Cajun Chicken Pasta with a salad with Blue Cheese dressing to start with. The salad, which came with my entree as well as a roll, had so much cheese on it. I'm a fan of cheese, but this was a little too much. The Cajun Chicken Pasta was so deliciously spicy and flavorful. There was no comparison between this and the Spicy Shrimp pasta I had ordered at Applebees last week. This is a kind of pasta that is good for everyone, even if you don't care for pasta. It has so much other good things in it that the pasta is just a small part of the dish. Husband ordered the rack of ribs. He ate until he couldn't eat anymore. The pub fries were also very good. They are more like potato wedges than fries, but they are crispy and well seasoned. The food and beer will definitely have us coming back. Now that we know there is a Sushi day (Wednesday) we will be coming back then also. What makes it even better is that we can walk here if we wanted to. read more

Mountain Town Station is awesome! The food is great and their beer is very good! Watch for the specials that they run. I remember getting pints of their delicious raspberry beer for like $2 on Thursday nights! My wine drinking friends said that they had a very nice wine selection also. Check out the website because since it used to be a train station they still have a train that they use for dinner excursions. I've never done one, but it sounds fun! read more

we were driving through and desperate for a place to go. i texted my friend who used to live in mt pleasant and she suggested this place. i guess she forgot that i'm usually a vegetarian. there was literally one thing on the menu that was veggie--a wrap. it was pretty good. the fries that they served were those wedge fries that are delicious. my boyfriend had the wrap and an ipa and it was okay. my friend who recommended the place says that she usually gets the mountain town salad and her boyfriend gets the 30 oz steak served on a butcher block. so maybe give those a try? the interior was really nice and so was the service. read more

Came here yesterday for graduation celebration & as always, mountain town never disappoints. 3 of us ordered the rib eye with potatoes & the fourth ordered the Walleye fish & we were all satisfied. Had quite a few hobo breaths & double golden IPA which was delicious. Our server was great too considering how chaotic it was due to graduation dinner rush.
