A nice little roadside barbecue joint. Bright and clean on the inside, everybody that runs the place is very friendly, and there are lots of cool chachkis and license plates along the walls. There's even a chalkboard in the restroom, where you can "leave your mark". The food itself is outstanding! There is a large menu. They also offer beer and wine. I had the pulled pork sandwich, I had a choice of several different sides, and I chose the artichoke rice.. The artichoke rice is a cold side, and it has a curry flavor, which is great, and it's not a spicy curry. You could definitely taste it. It was delicious! The pulled pork sandwich was full, and had a lot of sauce, but the sauce didn't overtake the delicious pork. It also had pickles and onions on the inside, and a pickle spear on the outside. It didn't look that big, but I waddled away from the table full. An excellent meal! The price for the sandwich and tea, was very reasonable, considering the size and quality of the sandwich, and the fact that this place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. They are a cash only establishment, but they do have an ATM available. . They do offer a discount for active duty military, which makes sense, as there is a Marine Corps base just up the road. Next time I'm passing through, I would stop again. Thank you.

Went there two days in a row for a bbq brisket sandwich, and it was excellent! Mom had the grilled hot dog, which comes out on a brioche sandwich bun. Waitresses were excellent, the one I had on Saturday remembered I didn't want the devil's produce (aka onions and pickles) on my sandwich. Yes, the place is cash only. So if you don't want to use the on-site ATM, get some cash before you come to town.

Smelling the smoker as we entered the parking lot lured us in. Service was great, cold beer, and bodacious BBQ. I've given details for everything we ordered. Absolutely fabulous food!!!

This barbecue place was good. It was conveniently located right across the street from our hotel. We sat outside. It was very nice. It was actually not that loud. Just the cars driving by on the road and the waitress was super busy and it seem really understaffed. I felt really bad for her but all in all a great experience.

CASH ONLY restaurant & very expensive. We had a kids meal, 2 meals, & 2 beers and tab was $88. Ribs were waaaay over cooked and dry, could barely cut them with a knife. Not edible. Potato skins were meh, overcooked & crispy (not in a good way) & very small. Kids chicken fingers were actually yummy & the french fries were good as well as the side salad I thought was really delicious and a large portion however it was definitely the end of the head of lettuce. My husband had the chopped barbecue brisket sandwich was just okay, Bbq sauce was bland. Definitely would not recommend! Service was good though! We went at a non-busy time and were the only table in the restaurant

So, there I was, thinking about Soulbelly (a great new BBQ in Las Vegas), and it occurred to me that there is some great BBQ close. With that in mind, my wife and I head off to lunch today, June 21, 2021, at Mountain View BBQ in Walker California, and we were far from disappointed. Beyond that, it's been over five years since I updated my review, it's time. You might be asking yourself, What about the drive down from Gardnerville? Well, it's a consideration, but the drive from Gardnerville to Walker is a very pretty stretch of Highway 395, and thus, part of a great trip. Are you listening to a pod cast? Yes we are, today it is Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend with guest John Krazinski, and so was not only the view great, but we laughed the whole way. Lunch? Awesome and well worth the time, the trip, and the money. First thing this morning, prior to making the trip, we called down to verify that yelp was correct with their listing of the days closed (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and the hours. Yelp was correct, as I would not have been a happy man to drive all that way, salivating since Topaz, to end up with nothing for the effort. Second thing, had to have my wife's green drink to help mollify my Catholic Guilt at the meat that I was going to consume for lunch. The green drink was good. Third, I enjoyed every bite of the food that my wife and I ordered. We ordered the $44 sampler lunch and had plenty of everything that we needed. We had a rack of ribs, pork loin, sausage, and brisket. Our two sides consisted of a curried rice (what a surprise, moist, tasty and worth considering), and French Fries (and suffice it to say the basket equals about 5 times an in-n-out portion). We did not expect it, but the food arrived with two little corn muffins. Fourth, I had a great beer. If you know me, you know that I enjoy cocktails and red wine far more often than I have a beer, but this beer was a Mammoth Brewery Pale Ale, and it was served perfectly. For me, perfectly looks like a full glass, a bit of condensation on the outside of the glass, and a tasty beverage in the glass. They delivered. My wife had a glass of Cabernet and she liked it. We were not sure of the winery or the vintage. Fifth, we were full and so we brought home half of the ribs that we were served, and we look forward to enjoying them soon. The meat simply fell off the bone. Sixth, a brief chat revealed that the brisket is cooked here for 14 hours.....that's a good thing, and the brisket was very good, cut with a fork and enjoyed. How do you wrap up this piece? Simply put, in my mind, you can't go wrong here, but don't blink, you really are in Walker, California, and the BBQ is authentic and tasty.

They have a variety of dogs... all beef, Italian sausage, spicy hot link, elk, bison, boar, and beyond brat (vegan). Look for the food truck in the parking lot with a Shell gas station on Highway 50. The dogs are served up plain or you can get them specialized as in a Chicago dog, Sonoran dog, chili cheese, etc. The dogs range $7.50-$15. Plus they got fries$5-13. Those too are served plain or specialized. My faves are the chili fries, Chicago dog, and New York style dog. The chili is no beans and the fries are double fried giving them an extra crispy layer of crust. I do have to tell them light on the onions and mustard because they give you a full bang for your buck and load it up. But Hubs likes it that way. I like to wash it all down with their homemade lemonade. It's the real deal, made with lemons, sugar, and water. The $6 lemonade is served up in a whomping 32 ounce container. Get this, they serve breakfast as well. You can get an egg, cheese, hash brown on an 8 inch Italian roll or bowl. $9.50. Add bacon, sausage or steak $2.50-$4.50 extra.

Perfect heat, killer seasoning, and the kind of snap that makes you pause mid-bite and reevaluate your life choices (in a good way). Doc's Dawgs serves amazing hot dogs, Polish sausages and more, and over the last several years has gained a reputation among Sonora locals for serving the finest hot dogs in Tuolumne County. The hot dog restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 in the morning until 2:30 in the afternoon. It is a permanent operation, set up on the porch of Wico Farm Store, located in the Sonora Plaza Shopping Center, on Mono Way. The restaurant is located on the sidewalk in front of the store, protected from the elements and offers countless options when it comes to dressing out your dog. Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen a hot dog restaurant that offers such a wide array of condiments. Comfortable patio dining is also offered. Doc's Dogs menu offers hot dogs, hot links, nacho cheese, chips, chili, drinks and more. Some of the perks include $1.00 off for veterans, free hot dogs for veterans on Veterans Day, and if your beloved fur buddy is with you he or she will get a "doggie dog," on the house. These are traditions carried on from the previous owner. The chilled box includes all of the fresh condiments, including more mustard and sauces, sliced tomato, diced white onion, sauerkraut, dill pickle relish, sliced peperoncini and pickled, diced jalapeño peppers. Between the choices on the table and the chilled condiment box, you have countless choices to make your hot dog truly unique. In addition, there is a table that holds a wide array of salts, spices hot sauces, along with mustard, ketchup and barbecue sauce. I started at the top of the menu and went with a "Quarter Pound Dog," custom dressed out to my every dining whim. Doc's Dawgs uses quarter pound wieners from Miller's Dogs, manufactured in nearby Lodi. This large dog was everything a hot dog lover could ever ask for, as the quarter pound dog was grilled perfection, tender, juicy, complete with natural casing. The dog was seated on a large, fresh bun, which fit the dog perfectly and added to the goodness. Note that the "dog" in Doc's Dawgs isn't your garden variety supermarket hot dog, it's a true hot dog, complete with natural casing. From the chilled condiment selection I added mayonnaise, plain yellow mustard, dill pickle relish, chopped white onion, along with a touch of sourkraut. I didn't add any of the salts or hot sauce from the table, as by the time I was finished, my dog was fully dressed. My first bite rewarded me with a satisfying "snap," thanks to the natural casing of the Miller's Dog. Yes, this was the real deal, as the dog was natural, which always is the place to start when you want to enjoy a superior hot dog. The dog-to-bun ratio was spot-on, which is crucial for a superior hot dog. The condiments worked in tandem with the dog to provide a perfect taste sensation. The hot dog was simply delicious! Now I know why all "foodies" and hot dog lovers rave about the amazing hot dogs, served by Doc's Dawgs in Sonora! Sonora hot dog enthusiasts have it right, as simply stated, Doc's Dawgs serves the BEST hot dogs in Tuolumne County! The dogs are amazing, the condiments are nearly endless, the patio seating is comfortable, and friendly hot dog chef Renee will treat you like a rock star. When you're looking for an amazing hot dog and more, think of Doc's Dawgs, located in Sonora, CA. Truly Five Star dining!

For starters, the vibes are just perfect. The wait in line is where it starts, as the sun is typically beating down as you wait to order in the dirt parking lot, making the shade from the narrow porch and the friendly hello from the order taker your first reward for being here. Usually I'm hungry from a busy morning of breaking down camp, and a 1/4lb Walker Burger with American cheese, fresh veggies and secret sauce on a fluffy fresh seeded soft bun always hits. Summer time usually has me ordering a fresh seasonal fruit shake (peach) but honestly every shake is fantastic and I also LOVE the coffee shakes, which are made with real coffee and coffee beans for extra punch.
