A nice little roadside barbecue joint. Bright and clean on the inside, everybody that runs the place is very friendly, and there are lots of cool chachkis and license plates along the walls. There's even a chalkboard in the restroom, where you can "leave your mark". The food itself is outstanding! There is a large menu. They also offer beer and wine. I had the pulled pork sandwich, I had a choice of several different sides, and I chose the artichoke rice.. The artichoke rice is a cold side, and it has a curry flavor, which is great, and it's not a spicy curry. You could definitely taste it. It was delicious! The pulled pork sandwich was full, and had a lot of sauce, but the sauce didn't overtake the delicious pork. It also had pickles and onions on the inside, and a pickle spear on the outside. It didn't look that big, but I waddled away from the table full. An excellent meal! The price for the sandwich and tea, was very reasonable, considering the size and quality of the sandwich, and the fact that this place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. They are a cash only establishment, but they do have an ATM available. . They do offer a discount for active duty military, which makes sense, as there is a Marine Corps base just up the road. Next time I'm passing through, I would stop again. Thank you.

Went there two days in a row for a bbq brisket sandwich, and it was excellent! Mom had the grilled hot dog, which comes out on a brioche sandwich bun. Waitresses were excellent, the one I had on Saturday remembered I didn't want the devil's produce (aka onions and pickles) on my sandwich. Yes, the place is cash only. So if you don't want to use the on-site ATM, get some cash before you come to town.

Smelling the smoker as we entered the parking lot lured us in. Service was great, cold beer, and bodacious BBQ. I've given details for everything we ordered. Absolutely fabulous food!!!

This barbecue place was good. It was conveniently located right across the street from our hotel. We sat outside. It was very nice. It was actually not that loud. Just the cars driving by on the road and the waitress was super busy and it seem really understaffed. I felt really bad for her but all in all a great experience.

CASH ONLY restaurant & very expensive. We had a kids meal, 2 meals, & 2 beers and tab was $88. Ribs were waaaay over cooked and dry, could barely cut them with a knife. Not edible. Potato skins were meh, overcooked & crispy (not in a good way) & very small. Kids chicken fingers were actually yummy & the french fries were good as well as the side salad I thought was really delicious and a large portion however it was definitely the end of the head of lettuce. My husband had the chopped barbecue brisket sandwich was just okay, Bbq sauce was bland. Definitely would not recommend! Service was good though! We went at a non-busy time and were the only table in the restaurant

So, there I was, thinking about Soulbelly (a great new BBQ in Las Vegas), and it occurred to me that there is some great BBQ close. With that in mind, my wife and I head off to lunch today, June 21, 2021, at Mountain View BBQ in Walker California, and we were far from disappointed. Beyond that, it's been over five years since I updated my review, it's time. You might be asking yourself, What about the drive down from Gardnerville? Well, it's a consideration, but the drive from Gardnerville to Walker is a very pretty stretch of Highway 395, and thus, part of a great trip. Are you listening to a pod cast? Yes we are, today it is Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend with guest John Krazinski, and so was not only the view great, but we laughed the whole way. Lunch? Awesome and well worth the time, the trip, and the money. First thing this morning, prior to making the trip, we called down to verify that yelp was correct with their listing of the days closed (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and the hours. Yelp was correct, as I would not have been a happy man to drive all that way, salivating since Topaz, to end up with nothing for the effort. Second thing, had to have my wife's green drink to help mollify my Catholic Guilt at the meat that I was going to consume for lunch. The green drink was good. Third, I enjoyed every bite of the food that my wife and I ordered. We ordered the $44 sampler lunch and had plenty of everything that we needed. We had a rack of ribs, pork loin, sausage, and brisket. Our two sides consisted of a curried rice (what a surprise, moist, tasty and worth considering), and French Fries (and suffice it to say the basket equals about 5 times an in-n-out portion). We did not expect it, but the food arrived with two little corn muffins. Fourth, I had a great beer. If you know me, you know that I enjoy cocktails and red wine far more often than I have a beer, but this beer was a Mammoth Brewery Pale Ale, and it was served perfectly. For me, perfectly looks like a full glass, a bit of condensation on the outside of the glass, and a tasty beverage in the glass. They delivered. My wife had a glass of Cabernet and she liked it. We were not sure of the winery or the vintage. Fifth, we were full and so we brought home half of the ribs that we were served, and we look forward to enjoying them soon. The meat simply fell off the bone. Sixth, a brief chat revealed that the brisket is cooked here for 14 hours.....that's a good thing, and the brisket was very good, cut with a fork and enjoyed. How do you wrap up this piece? Simply put, in my mind, you can't go wrong here, but don't blink, you really are in Walker, California, and the BBQ is authentic and tasty.

I've been visiting Walker Burger for decades, and it's just a joy every time…read more The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and service is efficient. They have a beautiful outdoor eating area with good shade options. The menu is surprisingly extensive for such a tiny spot. Burgers, fries, and shakes are all excellent, like "wow, I wish I could get burgers this good when I'm not here" level good. They even carry gluten free buns for those of us who can't eat wheat, and they're shockingly good! They also have good options for vegetarians. I'm always raving to my friends that they should stop here to eat when on the East Side. It's an absolute gem.

Now serving LOCAL Park Ranch Beef? SAY LESS and GIMME MORE!…read more Can't believe this is my first review of Walker Burger, as I've likely stopped here a dozen times over the years. A roadside burger, fresh and hot fries, and a rich creamy milkshake are a necessary part of every trip through the area, and whenever we're between here and Mammoth, Walker Burger is THE STOP. For starters, the vibes are just perfect. The wait in line is where it starts, as the sun is typically beating down as you wait to order in the dirt parking lot, making the shade from the narrow porch and the friendly hello from the order taker your first reward for being here. Usually I'm hungry from a busy morning of breaking down camp, and a 1/4lb Walker Burger with American cheese, fresh veggies and secret sauce on a fluffy fresh seeded soft bun always hits. Summer time usually has me ordering a fresh seasonal fruit shake (peach) but honestly every shake is fantastic and I also LOVE the coffee shakes, which are made with real coffee and coffee beans for extra punch. Fries are always hot and fresh, and best of all they come out crispy without asking for it! Service is always friendly and fun too. What makes this spot special is the garden dining. Picnic tables are scattered throughout a well shaded area offering travelers a cool and relaxing area to enjoy their food. We've definitely done this a few times, but typically take it to go and enjoy it (and the glorious mess) on the way home. Walker Burger is a MUST! Have you been?

Ladies and Gentlemen, Burger Barn IS OFFICIALLY OPEN for the 2026 season!…read more Official first paying customer of the 2026 season, reporting in! Been eating here for years, and along with all other places in town, you just can't go wrong with this place, no matter what you order! This morning specifically, I got another meat lovers breakfast burrito. So big, easily enough for two people! But I would suggest buying one, and saving half to eat on later, because it's that good. I've ordered probably everything on the menu at one point in time or another. Everything is always great, and please keep in mind. EVERYTHING IS MADE FRESH TO ORDER, So during peak season, there's usually a line of people. So just be patient, because it will be worth the wait! The burgers are amongst the best along the 395! Julio is one of the cooks, and that boy knows his way around the kitchen! Cheryl is the owner, and is usually taking your order at the counter. She is one of the most wonderful women in all of Bridgeport! They have outdoor seating, and across the parking lot I believe there's still indoor seating, but I haven't been in there in years. Aside from great food, You're almost guaranteed to run into PCT hikers, campers, fisherman, etc, and most have interesting stories to tell! Thanks for the burrito guys! I had the Gambler Steak Burger with garlic parmesan fries. My brother got the Blackened Salmon Ceasar Salad. I was surprised when the waiter said "good choice the salmon here is delicious". They have wild caught king salmon delivered twice a week. We split our food. The salmon was as good or better than any piece of salmon I have ever had. It melted in your mouth. My burger was cooked medium to perfection. Super juicey and delicious. Among the best burgers I have ever had no joke; they grind their own meat. The hand cut fries were really good too. Service is friendly and attentive. Great beer selection and plenty of TVs to catch the game you are after. We liked it so much that we went back and ordered the same dishes the next day and they were perfect again. They passed the consistency test. Yes two days in a row; thats how good it was. They probably use corn starch instead of flour, because they aren't overly breaded. Shoutout to the prep workers there (whatup Zoe!), because the food is like crazy good, hot, and fast. For most of the food, they have this insane rotating grill that you can see from the street. Super cool operation Steak salad is a must as well. It's so refreshing! It's got a balsamic dressing, some bleu cheese, and either raisin or dried cranberry and maybe walnuts. I don't actually know because I shovel it down my throat lol. Burgers are the best in the area. Even their less popular items are very well done. Recently got a sausage and peppers sandwich that was as good as what I routinely make at home. Atmosphere is amazing. All the employees go above and beyond. I usually sit at the bar and play any of their video gambles. You win some, you tip extra, you leave happy. You lose some and get some beers on the house. I'll go there if I go to Nevada beaches, or if I want to catch a game. South Lake resident and I generally avoid stateline for it's crowds but I'll head up to Lucky Beaver just for the food. I'm assuming they do PPV MMA fights which is another excuse to show up going forward Shoutout to Bruno as well. Awesome bartender. There's also a few awesome gals who's names escape me at the moment. It's a super chill place while having a great vibe and energy The other patrons are just fun people, it's easy to have a conversation with the guy sitting next to you. It's a well known place but I think it's still a hidden gem amongst all that chaos lol. For a 24 hour place, it's very chill. Never had a bad experience. It's good for hanging out with friends but I wouldn't hesitate bringing my nieces and nephews and whole family there. Only critique is parking. They don't comp it, but all parking is paid now at the casinos, so it's no surprise, that's just the standard.. I think if you get in and out in less than an hour parking is free, so keep that in mind. You can also park further away at other free parking areas and walk.
