It took these movers 7 HOURS to move my fully packed 600sq ft apartment. They also charged a fuel fee which wasn't disclosed at the time of booking. This is insane, WAY more than was originally quoted or what other companies offered, and for a level set: it took my bf and I less time to move ourselves a year prior. The bill was over $1,000 and I obviously had no other option but to pay for the hours it took but I absolutely wouldn't use this company again. Short version: They're awesome. Long version: Wife read all the positive reviews and scheduled an appointment for an estimate via HomeAway, a 3rd party service, got the email confirmation and everything. I worked from home on day of appt and when they didn't show up, I called, and they said they never had us in the books. I forwarded the HomeAway confirmation email. Carl stayed cool and collected throughout the call and he made a new estimate appointment and assured me that the original move date that was promised still held. That was super important for us. Luis came by and said that he would probably need one extra mover than originally thought. I got a phone call the next day to confirm this and how it would affect the estimate. Received multiple texts reminding of the upcoming move date. Day of, Luis arrived with his crew and they were great. Had trouble with getting a couch through the door - no problem, popped the door off the hinges, got the couch through, replaced the door, in minutes. They were professional, they were problem solvers, they were communicative and they made it work. They deserve all the great reviews. read more

Luis, Francisco, and the crew were excellent. We moved my mother out of her house that she had been in for almost 40 years. The move was grueling and took place over two twelve-hour days, one to pack everything and one to do the move. The crew was punctual, efficient, and friendly. They were very careful with our stuff. They were always upbeat and treated my mother like their own. We had one small miscommunication at the beginning of the move where we missed each other due to the mover's having an incorrect phone number for us, but that was a small thing. I was very impressed with the front office communication as well - they were very responsive and kept checking in leading up to our move date to finalize everything. Luis also came twice to our home to check out the house and made us comfortable with the process given it was a sensitive move for my mother. My move went smoothly and was done pretty quickly (1-bedroom, sf to mtv took about 3 hours including the driving). The two movers Jose and Luis arrived on time, were both very courteous and professional. Our times have created many problems with people around the country trying to run their businesses as close to normal as possible . When we needed to get a moving crew for a small quick move I sent out some requests for a quote from a couple of Companies in the San Francisco area. I spoke with Crystal at "Moving Forward" and she gave me pricing on all that is included with the fees plus an additional $25.00 one time gas fee. She was very helpful and answered all the questions we had regarding a quick move. She emailed the contract back within two hours which was very nice and it listed all of the company supplies that were included in their price. A couple of days I received a text message from Matt verifying the move date and time and was wondering if we were still interested in the move. I am glad he did this because he had the wrong date and time in his paper work so I am glad that we were able to correct this before a disaster had occurred. We scheduled the move but had to cancel at the last minute the day of because of a difficult time with a very complicated situation. Mario the Driver from Moving Forward was so patient as he waited for us to get information on cancelling the move. Delyna and the other office staff at Moving Forward that I had spoke with were so understanding and helpful with the cancellation process, even though they were all working from home. Luis and team were really great. They were so hard-working and so organized and professional. All three guys were highly productive the whole time. No one was ever idle. Each guy carried two boxes at a time throughout the whole move. And they were super careful. When they carried a heavy piece of furniture through doorways and around corners, Luis monitored all the edges to make sure the furniture never hit. Luis made sure every piece was properly protected before they moved it. They took time to make sure they placed the furniture exactly where I wanted it, without making me feel rushed. They were happy to assemble my TV and anything else. They really went above and beyond, even helping me re-seat a door hinge after they had stopped the clock. They made the move a pleasure. I scheduled my move for 8am from the Mission to Chinatown. I had one good sized bedroom worth of furniture (desk, desk chair, bed, two dresser units, small side tables, three shelving units, and clothes rack) and then a ton of miscellaneous items (a ton of books, a ton of vinyl, guitar amp, desktop computers, guitars, etc). Luis called me at 8am saying the drivers weren't able to locate my apartment, which was strange since they had helped move my roommate the previous day. Oh well. They eventually showed up at ~8:15. Moving out of the 2nd floor Mission location was a breeze, as it's a short flight of stairs right to the curb (and the moving truck). They helped pack some random items I had that I was a bit unsure of how to handle, and took care of the clothing rack with wardrobe boxes. Move out time took an hour and fifteen minutes. Driving to Chinatown took over half an hour, given this was weekday rush hour traffic at ~9:45. I was extremely worried about the moving-in portion, as I was moving into a third floor slum on a busy street with limited access and parking. The driver handled things like a champ, and was able to snag parking at a location that was about as good as it could get. As a warning, you should consider reserving street parking through the SFMTA depending on both of your locations, which costs ~$200 and takes a minimum of 5 business days (excluding your initial application day and your move-in day). For me, I was under 5 business days, and was told I would not be able to get the moving permit in time by the SFMTA person I spoke with. Moving everything up to my new place took 2.5 hours, and based on what the movers said, was one of their more difficult moving jobs. My unit has steep and narrow stairs, so I felt a bit bad about that. Moving Forward is definitely not the cheapest offering, but the service they provide was impeccable. read more

They completed my move from a storage unit of a 2 story home with 5 rooms into the new home in approx. 5 hours. They will also take apart or build new furniture for you at your new location. WOW! Phenomenal job by the staff and crew. Everything was smooth from the initial reservation call to the signature on the dotted line. We are downsizing for my mom and she had over 30 years worth of stuff, lots of heavy, "antique," sentimental furniture that she's accumulated over the years and she really wanted to hold onto these staple items. The crew shrink wrapped EVERYTHING with moving blankets on each piece. I was absolutely shocked how quickly and swift everything moved. Especially since she moved from a 2 story with furniture on both levels and 50 miles east & a one story. The crew wore PPE and were really mindful of social distancing and it's no coincidence that this company has all 5 star reviews. VERY affordable for a 6 hour job. Probably the best moving experience Ive ever had. I moved from nobhill to the mission and was working 2 jobs at the time with only a 24hr window to move. I got scheduled on my official move date and had no option of getting around it. I called multiple moving companies and Moving Forward seemed to be the most friendly and accommodating. They worked with my funky schedule and took all the stress of me. When they showed up I was a ball of stress and emotion between moving in a few hours and trying to make it to work on time, I was freaking out a bit. Luis, the hands on owner calmed me down, cracking jokes and making me smile. They were very professional and had all the tools I was lacking. And like a proper gentleman he never let me lift a thing. He insisted I relax and get ready for work. As I browsed Yelp for SF based movers, I ran across many businesses with a four/five star average. However, after I dug into individual reviews, I noticed that not every experience was positive. It seemed as though it depended on the specific movers, whether the objects being moved were irregular, etc. Not so with Moving Forward, of which 100% of reviews were not just positive, but glowing. It seemed as though they had the know-how to handle any situation. Having used Moving Forward two weeks ago, I can attest that my experience was right in line with those of others. They were: easy to schedule, timely on the day of, friendly, efficient, and conscientious. They intuitively knew which furniture needed to be disassembled and then reassembled at the destination. I asked them to leave some things behind and they doubled checked with me when they got to those items. Their pricing is a transparent and convenient flat fee based on # of mover-hours. My furniture is the stuff nightmares are made of for moving companies---big, heavy, family heirlooms. They packed everything without damaging anything including lots of glass and china. When we got our home it turned out our driveway didn't let the 22' truck access to park close to the home.
